So I've been using Aimrom for the past 3 months and there are times with very noticeable slow down and lag. Even doing simple things like opening up the quick setttings, typing or browsing lags sometimes. At times the system will freeze up and require a force reboot. It get's really annoying.
I use Greenify and I've greenified most of the apps such as FB, insta, twitter etc. Greenify does help boost the performance and improve battery life.
When I notice slow downs I clear all recent apps, use a ram cleanup app and hibernate on greenify and everything goes back to working the way it should.
But I find myself doing that way too many times which makes it quite frustrating.
I've tried RR, Lineage and Aosp nougat roms before and in beginning everything is smooth but I noticed the same issues with those roms as well after a couple weeks of usage.
I don't remember having same problems with stock lolipop and marshamallow roms and cm13. Only with nougat roms. How's the performance on Oreo roms?
Is this a problem only with nougat roms? Is it because of the older snapdragon 410 (Z00L user btw)? Do Oreo roms have better performance? Anyone else having a similar experience?
Is it just me?

I've had it disabled.
Just enabled and did some tweaks. I do notice better performance.
Thanks
Try to use custom kernel like poison or fire kernel.

This has happened to me maybe two or three times now, but I want to just focus on this time it's happening right now:
I installed the Villain kernel on 3.2.1 stock rooted rom, overclocked to 1.504GHz. Initially, the scrolling in landscape was as smooth as butter, but over the past few days it's become slightly choppy, and it's really bothering me, because I know I might have done something to mess this up. My question is, how do I fix this and make it so it has unbelieveably smooth scrolling again (just like when you pull it out of the box)? I think it's one of any number of things, really. It could be that I'm using cachemate, system panel pro, that I've used autostarts to stop a ton of applications from running at start up.
I just removed all of my game icons from the 2nd page (I only have two pages) and the scrolling didn't speed up, so it's not that.
Is there a a system app that relates to the scrolling that I might have disabled because it had a name that maybe I thought I could disable in autostarts?
Thanks for any help!
Stopping apps from autostart does not guarantee a performance improvement. This is not Windows and unused RAM is lost RAM. You're using more CPU power to kill constantly autostarting apps and services thus you're draining your battery faster. If a program resides in memory it still doesn't mean it does something. As an example, there were ROMs for HD2 that were developed to load completely in its RAM for superfast performance and yet battery life was still excellent. There might be apps that behave intrusive but that's not the majority of the cases. Try to isolate them with a tool like SystemPannel but first read its description @ the Market. Additionally try freezing with Titanium backup some of the apps you're definitely not using. Hope this helps.
p. s. Try switching from interactive to ondemand governor.
Ok, thanks very much for the info! I was talking to someone else about this earlier today and the made the same point as you.
Hi
About 6 months ago I switched away from the stock ROM to Cyanogen to improve phone performance.
With stock rom, the performance was really bad. Switching tasks would take ages. Scrolling facebook would lag, starting apps etc.
After switching to CyanogenMod things seemed to work faster, however I've noticed that about 2 weeks after a new rom is flashes the phone starts lagging again. Currently I'm running a nightly build of Cyanogen 12.1 (android 5.1.1).
The performance is bad, switching tasks takes ages, loading new apps and what not.
I don't use the phone for anything other than WhatsApp, Facebook and emails.
I need a suggestion for a lightweight rom that has the best performance. I don't need any fancy widgets. Just have the base android 5.1 features.
Could it be that Google Now launcher causing the performance hit?
Soo I found a video in Youtube that showcases the performance (in terms of app launching) of the Oneplus X (running Oxygen OS 2.1.2) and Oneplus one (CM). Disregarding the appearance of the Oneplus One, the Oneplus X seem to launch apps relatively fast despite having that Oxygen OS. My Oneplus 2 is currently running OXygen OS 2.1.2, and the app launching is not as fast as the one depicted in the video.
Can anyone attribute to me their own experience with the app launching in their Oxygen OS 2.1.2 in OP2?
Here's the Link of the Video btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfi6A3u5psY
It depends how much apps we have installed in our system. If there are a bunch of apps then system might get slow down

Come on, SD810, 4gb of ram, near stock experience. I do not have that much app in my device, i'd say only FB, twitter, and some benchmarks. How's the app launching in your device? you running OS 2.1.2?
Anyone?
mine works just faster than the ones in the video, and i have about 81 apps that are displayed in the app picker
the kernel on the 2.1.2 is terrible, AK 21 + root + xposed + greenify (without xposed module part, no need) turn off location service, that just drains battery. yep, i greenify everything except for whatever i receive important notifications from (whatsapp, snapchat, drobsync, disa, boot manager, kernel auditor, auto install, adblocker, etc) everything else i make sure i hibernate, even force hibernate regardless of app state.

Stock launcher, yes
I just received my Nexus 6P and absolutely love it.
I am wondering if any of you have had good experiences with any utility/tool apps for this device. Apps such as Greenify, CM Cleaner, etc. are a couple I've heard of and was curious if these are helpful or not.
Thanks!
I don't use any utility apps so my response is probably not what you're looking for. There's not really a need for Greenify anymore since Marshmallow introduced Doze unless you want Aggressive Doze mode found in Greenify -- which is again unnecessary if you're using Android N Developer Preview which features an aggressive Doze mode.
Not sure too much on CM Cleaner, but if I had to use one I'd probably use CCleaner since I use it frequently on the PC and it works really well. If you choose to not use a cleaner, someone on here or Reddit reported clearing your cache every-so-often from Settings > Storage & USB > Cached data is useful and may even improve battery life.
Synapse - for use with AK kernel.
Naptime and Servicely by Franco are both nice apps.
Recently by chainfire helps keep recent apps section from being over crowded and adds some extra features.
Then you have the more common stuff you likely already use like "better battery stats", "adaway", " afwall+",.... Not sure about greenify on Marshmallow, I believe the Doze feature built into android does something similar to all apps, but do not quote me on that as I don't really know how how they work, just greenify put apps to sleep and then google calls it doze which is just another word for sleep.
+1 to the not necessary argument.
Get viper4android to improve your audio. Ex Kernel Manager is also pretty awesome. Otherwise explore and see what fits your needs!

You definitely don't need anything like CM Cleaner, those things are total rubbish, they use more resources than they claim to save. Doze is pretty good at getting the device to sleep when it isn't in use, but some people still use Greenify. I use BetterBatteryStats to monitor to power consumption, f.lux to automatically adjust screen temp at night, Faster GPS to aid in getting a quick GPS lock, and Flashfire for flashing certain things when I absolutely need to on the go.
I use All in One Toolbox to control the myriad of aggressive apps that feel they should launch/run everything i start my phone.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I plan on rooting the 6P today, and I have had experience with such apps as SetCPU, Rom Toolbox, etc. But that has probably been about 2 years ago.
What are the go-to root apps for stock android (not sure I'm ready for ROMs yet)?
1. Flashfire, very powerful tool for flashing things (especially useful for taking OTAs when rooted).
2. Ampere Measures current going in while charging, (pretty useful when my fast charger broke).
3. Naptime , improves standby time immensely (Doze on screen off).
4. Faster GPS, much faster GPS lock as I dont really like leaving location on all the time.
5. BetterBatteryStats, huge info on power consumption.
6. F.lux, (Changes colour temperature based on location and sunsets, warmer colours after sunset, less obtrusive to the eyes.
7. Adaway, gets rid of ads ... yay
8. Viper4Android, best EQ and FX processor available.
After testing custom and official ROMs I'm gonna review them here to help ppl chose there rom
I'm planning to keep this up to date as far as I can
You can reply with your opinions.

Any comparison review between global and China? Things that are not working on China or things that are exists only in global? Problem with Google services in China?
Thanks in advance since I'm thinking moving forward from global since long time now there is no proper update...
I too get wifi issues with pixel experience. After some time (maybe 10 minutes or so) the wifi constantly drops and does not work even though it shows as being connected, but I've found this issue persists for all oreo roms for the mi 6, even miui, so this issue for me is not specific to pixel experience. On 7.1.2 I have no such issues.

Well you have to deal with Chinese apps like 20 of them also there's only a few languages mostly Chinese and English and there are some parts that stays Chinese like the search app,tho you can't switch it to Google search app
You can install google apps easily but you can't set Google assistant on the home button
That's it nothing more if u can live with that switch to it

hi, anyone tried the mokee rom?
why there is no thread about this rom here?
i saw they have an Oreo for mi6. i had mokee on my
zuk z2 pro and it was the best.

You can always use system app remover to remove chinese content. And if you dont want any chinese character under the full system, you can install xiaomi.eu. You can switch search app to google. You can set google asistant to home button.
Nothing you say is actually makes sense

1)I got over 204000 with antutu
2)No touch glitches in my phone.
3)Not really, it can fixed in various way. In my case i was able to fix it, just by disabling all my magisk modules.
4)Of course, the idea is to be mimic a Pixel phone
5)That´s something you change in photos settings. So not really a con
6)How it is a "con". Treble will help us to get new version of Android faster but that´s when NEW version of Android roll out like P. At this point, Trebel is a nice thing to test and see how the GSI behave

Well I'm talking about my experience about the rom you didn't have to panic tho i know some bugs are not there on some phones but i know alot of ppl had the same bugs
Also I'm not an idiot i know you can't change the setting in the photo app on PE
I didn't write treble i wrote "no treble" which means that it's bad it doesn't have treble yet
Next time read stuff carefully
Btw I'm happy about your reply so ppl know that it's possible to get your solid experience on PE which I couldn't by doing everything possible. Peace

To me all the same but with popkern kernel r27c schedutil governor improved active battery usage and deep sleep works so idle drain is almost zero overnight (Systemless xposed for greenify, amplify and naptime).
Also I was waiting for things to get stable enough to update to oreo but there was another thing that made me stay in nougat: a working dolby atmos + viper4android setup. That oreo atmos port from axon 7 wasn't to my taste - I like classic atmos' virtualizer and volume leveler ratios - but finally have found a port that works in DotOS 2.1. For viper, the first one in magisk repo works well.
From 100% to 30% with a lot of flashing mods, getting stuck in mi logo then restoring system+vendor backups from twrp (yes I'm pretty quick when I'm impatient) in first 1 hour, in total more than 7 hours of SOT and 2 hours idle and battery didn't even go higher than 37°C. Quickcharge works (3A) and also it doesn't heat too.
That dolby oreo zip (not a magisk module):
Any more ROM reviews?
I'm currently looking for AOSP-based ROM that drain moderately slow during usage and have no WiFi battery drain problem.
im currently on xiaomieu but idk which miui rom is best does anyone have any recommendations (preferably with ota updates)? Thanks in advance

To be honest I've switched back to 0401 dotOS the next day I've wrote that comment because there were some wakelock issues with the popkern. And dot (0401) has gcam fix to its date so it's working out of box (after enabling camera2 api). And I've also tried a few (oreo compatible they say) dolby atmos ports but in the end I gave up because it's not the same atmos like the older versions. I like it's virtualizer and volume leveler (it does increase volume levels dynamically for different frequencies so I could use viper to decrease them all while dolby was on, so the hissing sounds would be gone. Like a noise gate you know). But again the oreo version isn't the same and not to my taste.
Finally I've ended up tweaking with viper, adding some reverb etc and also the viper devs seem like they wanted to have a leveler like dolby atmos (old) so they've added more controllability to the playback gain control. Plus enabled the viper ddc so I've got a profile like my old viper+atmos setup.
