Has anyone ever heard of this?
Just bought a new Pro3 X727 from Amazon seller MallStop. When we turned it on for the first time, it prompted for a password to start Android. (As if it's a used phone.)
However, this is the second X727 I've bought for my family, the first from B&H photo. The packaging for both phones was identical. No scratches on the black box or the screen protector, and both were sealed in the same plastic. Should I attempt a factory reset, or wait for a return/exchange? Are there any other options?

Exchange it, it's used or modified.

I just got one from that same seller, there was no password but battery life is suspect. I think he's selling defective and refurbs for $199 as new.

Ok, I will either return or exchange it. If I exchange it, I'm worried about getting another used one from the same seller, but as we probably all know, there's really no other competitor with same specs and price point.
There really wasn't a fingerprint or piece of dust inside of the black box. Everything seemed perfect. Or perhaps my OCD isn't as bad as I thought it was.
What has led you to believe your battery life is below norm?
Thanks.
It's over 4000mah and battery life is 16 hours. That's not normal. It may get worse from there. Sadly, my printer needs home internet which I don't have right now so I might keep it since I can't print the return label.

With my previous X727 (from the highly reputable retailer), I can't remember what my battery life was before I installed Lineage and my basic apps, but I remember afterwards it plummeted. I would consider 16 hours very usable, but I don't know your usage pattern. I'm not sure what my SOT is, but it drains ~-0.5%/hour with screen, data, and wifi all off.
If you really want to return it, you can always print off the return label at a Staples Copy and Print center, a FedEx Print and Ship store, or at a library (but it might require signing up for a library card).

Lineage is terrible for battery life. Try Omni room or Paranoid Android they seem better.

Hey, I know this is by far the most stupid thing I've done in a long time, so please don't point it out to me, but I traded my Galaxy S4 + cash for a G2. I checked out the phone for a bit to make sure it was fine, and so far it only has 2 issues, one of which I can fix.
1. The phone is an in-store demo unit, it keeps playing through Verizon's demo software, which I don't mind, I can fix that.
2. The phone's battery is dying, as in it's max charge yesterday was 37%, today it's 35%.
Now, I hate to ask this because I feel like a total derp, but is there anything I can do about the battery (I know it's internal, but is it able to be repaired)?
It isn't molded plastic so you can definitely change it. Haven't seen any threads on it yet though. As for point 1, try to get into factory reset mode and do that.

From what I heard and read the back cover is simple to remove. Just put your nails into the small gap between the silver band and the cover and move it along the edges, I'm sure the cover should come off. The battery should be accessible, not sure if you need to unglue it or solder it off, which shouldn't be a difficult task. Then search eBay for a battery replacement which shouldn't be hard to find just search for the Korean model of the LG G2.

The Korean model has a 2600mah battery, while the other models have 3000mah. It's not the same battery, it might not even fit.
Do you have insurance on the line? If so just have it replaced.

no insurance
I don't have insurance, but if I did, would it even cover my phone that has been swapped?
Edit: Also I contacted the seller and he said that the phone "requires" a special charger, which I know it says it's not the correct charger when I plug it in, but I don't think it "requires" the LG one, but I could be wrong I suppose, I am using a 2.0A charger from my old Note II
Have you tried to just do a factory reset on it to solve the issues??

I was thinking that maybe there are more users from Romania that have the LG G3 and we can discuss here.
First topic that i want to open: which software version are you on? I have V10h and from what i know, this version has some issues with the quickcircle case. for example my phone it keeps waiking up in my pocket. From what i understand, the v10i version solved this issue. Has anyone got this update in Romania?
BTW, i have the 32G model, bought from Vodafone
Mine also has V10h which seems to be the latest on the Vodafone version (D855 32GB one).
Didn't experience any major bugs, however the battery life with my usage (which is rather low) and the same apps I had on my nexus 5 is kinda bad. Maybe is the 4G signal strength or whatnot but I was hoping for more from the 3000mAh battery.
I am polish user, but I have phone from Romania. My version is 10h I have 32Gb variant with code AROM or something like that and have a circle case. I Have no problems with that phone at all. I haven't any single restart, or freeze or wake with a circle case. It is ultra stable and have outstanding battery (with wifi, sync etc enabled i lost 4% battery in the night)
I have the 16Gb version bought from emag. Also on v10h firmware. I had the Nexus 5 before. While I also expected more from the G3 ( it's getting better) it easily outperforms the N5's battery. But boy the ocasional lags are killing me.
i also come from a Nexus 5 and before a Nexus 4.
It is nice to have the extra features like dual window and qslide apps but i am not sure so far abut it. the waiking up problem is killing me. when i am at the office and i keep my phone on my desk but i still use it a lot, by battery is really good. but after i put it in my pocket, it drains really fast. i love the quick circle case and i don't want to remove it and i really hope we will have a 10i version fast in order to solve this.
Also, do you have a screen protector that you recommend? on my nexus 5 i used a tempered glass and i was happy with it so i may go with one also for the G3
My G3 was bought from Sweden and it has a firmware from Norway.
a new bug that i found is with Wifi. When i am at work, it keeps connecting to a wifi network that requires an account and if i try to connect to another working network, i receive a "failed to connect" message. Also, when i am in setting menu, where the wifi, bluetooth and mobile network is, i can see witch network i use but when i open the wifi window, i cannot see it connected so i cannot long press it and click on "forget network".
the only thing that i can do is clse the wifi and stay on my data
I have a Super Clear Nillkin protector on mine which got its first scratch in the first day of use. The protector is good, was relatively easy to apply but it's not as "durable" as I would have expected (had on protectors on other phones and lasted more before showing signs of use).
I would go for glass, but I am not sure about applying it - I am afraid that I won't get it just right and I understood they are not that friendly when it comes to application / reapplication until you get it right.

i used 2 glass ones from nilkin on my nexus 5. for applying, if you don't set it to well, you can remove it and use a cloth dust removal to get all the dust out (it works great) and reapply it. the problem is i think with nillkin. in time it starts to wear off. the first one was better, it lasted around 6 months. the second one showed issues after only a few weeks and the same happened to a friend of mine. so i will never use another nillkin one.
i want to use a tempered glass one also on the G3 but i don't know what kind to use. i looked on okazii and are some products there but i am not sure how good they are. at quick mobile i found also one but it is 80 lei compared to 30-40 lei on okazii.
as a conclusion, i recommend a tempered glass any time instead of a regular screen protector but be sure it is a good one.
also i know a case when the tempered glass saved a friend of mine's screen from cracking.
32 GB still on v10h
Same problem with circle case
What do you think guys should I root the g3 or w8 until we get bootloader unlocked? And for the screen i was planning to buy the alien screen protector with warranty for life
V10h here. No problems...no lag and battery life is good...
I've tried more firmwares found here on xda and I have the quick circle case wake issue with every one of them. I need to mention, it only happens, when I'm sweating. 16 gb version + glass screen protector.
I also have a question for you guys. Did any of you get the LG tablet from their promotion? If so. Is it any good. Should I keep it. (Haven't received mine, but it was approved by LG )

yes, how do you know you were accepted? i sent the info needed to them and at first they rejected for not a very clear photo of the bill and after i sent it again i also sent an email asking if it is ok and they replied to me that i will receive a pre-order in 35 days...so i am still waiting since i bought mine on 1st of September.
as for the tablet itself, i don't really care how it is because i already got the g pad 8.3 which i use daily. the g pad 7.0 is not as good as 8.3 so i will stick with this one for now nad the 7.0 maybe give it to my girlfriend.

I know I was accepted, because LG sent me an email on the 16th of September (00:00), saying,my pre-approval is okay and I'll receive my tablet in a maximum of 30 days. I thought they are deliberately waiting for the last minute with the pre-approval emails, so if you've cocked up something, you won't get a second chance at it. But I guess I was wrong. I ordered mine on the 10th of August, so I don't think I was in the first two thousand.
I know the gpad 7 isn't as good as the glad 8.3, but I'm hoping it can be rooted and that it's performance will be enough for the companion apps. Currently I'm using my phone, which is nice, but it kills the battery. I'm not that into tablets, I wouldn't buy one for a handful of apps, but if it's a freebie, I'll take it.

So, I just have to vent. My Nexus 7 is now in the process of its 2nd RMA. I bought a reconditioned tablet off E-bay for during one of those $129 sales. Less than 18 hours after receiving my tablet, I was in the middle of a game and it rebooted, only to then stick at the Google Screen. Nothing would work to fix it, Wug's, or even ADBing the image files. So, off to Asus it went. They apparently replaced the entire motherboard and sent it back, with a note that the issue was a LED (Error) Indicator, whatever that means. My tablet then functions properly for about 80 more days, and then suddenly, when I go to reboot it, it turns off, but will not turn on, no matter what. The battery charge indicator does not function, no LED, nothing, and it was as if the battery was suddenly disconnected internally (it has not suffered any drops, jolts, etc.) and lives in a protective case. If I hook it up to the computer, I get a weird driver I have never seen before (not APX but something else, which I cannot recall at the moment), I would have taken it apart and done a battery disconnect if I was not still within my RMA period. Is such an excessive number of issues a problem for this device? I have never had this many issues with any other android device I have ever had. I cannot complain about Asus's RMA process but it is ridiculous that a remanufactured device would fail less than 24 hours out of the box, and then need to be RMA'ed yet again less than 3 months afterwards.
I love it when it works, but have others had devices that have had so many issues? I am not sure if it was the remanufacturing process and poor quality assurance with it or what, but seems there are a lot of similar hardware issues from those remanufactured lots on here.

I have also had mine since launch, and I think OP simply got a lemon.
I have the random reboot issue that most people seem to have, but a part from that, none I've heard about have anything even close to the kind of trouble OP had.
The most common weakness I hear about from my friends owning the N 7 is battery drain, and that's not a hardware problem.

Thanks all. Got my tablet back from RMA, and works like a charm. They had to replace the board and some heat shields it appears from the packing slip from the RMA. Fingers crossed, as the tablet absolutely rocks when it works. Battery is outstanding compared to my 2012's. Hopefully the 2nd time was the charm.

I bought mine online, off eBay. I never had to provide a receipt for mine, though I was asked when I purchased it and where. As a remanufactured device, it came with a 90 day warranty, so you may just have to tell them the purchase date and location.
If it helps, you can start here: http://www.service.asus.com/#!b2c2/c24v6 to raise a case number and RMA.

If you enter the correct serial number for your device it should auto populate those fields, but if not, it is under Eee Pad as the Product Type, and the model is Nexus 7 (2013) of course.
If anyone else runs into the reboot and freezing on the Google logo error (even after forced restarts), you need to pop the back off and disconnect the battery for a few seconds. Easy enough to do, but it's a pain in the ass and shouldn't need to be done in the first place, but if you want to avoid an RMA and shipping and such, this will fix it.
Also, Lolipop preview completely fixed my random reboots. Not a one. Before that, when I 4.4'd, Franco's kernels also completely fixed random reboots.
Glad to hear your issue is fixed! It's a great tablet! Enjoy!
Thanks for mentioning the battery disconnect fix pbassjunk!! Fixed my problem, and good thing because I'm way out of warranty.
Hey guys. I got my Nexus6P exactly on the 1st of this month through a local retailer here called Poorvika mobiles. Pretty awesome and I've had no problems until today when I found the paint on the right corner edge of my phone seems to have peeled off. I'm pretty sure it's not a scratch as I've had a Spigen rugged armor case since day 10 and I check my phone occasionally for issues. I want to know if this would come under warranty as this is pretty soon for a phone of this cost to have paint come off. Picture attached to post.
Couldn't attach picture to first post for some reason. Posting here.
And will they accept if I return it?
Maybe, call them and report your results.
They might, but you'll need to contact them...
It's rudimentary...

UPDATE: So I remove my case today for the first time after taking that picture and holy f**k. It's chipped on the top. It's been in the case the whole time. Right now, I'm at home most of the time and the phone is either with me or on a table. It hasn't fallen even once to date. I have no clue as to what is happening
You could try to change the phone but maybe you might get a replacement with eg. faulty pixels. If you use a case, I would not bother about this problem. Just for the fun of it, when was your phone manufactured ? Mine was built in 11/13.

Mine was manufactured on 11/11. And I think I'll head over to the store now and show it to them. The problem right now is I have no real proof of anything. Anyway, I guess it'll be worth the ask. One of the reasons, I purchased this phone apart from it's awesome performance is the looks. It sucks to see this happening to a great phone like this so early.

Yeah. I live with my parents who hate android so they never touch my phone. Apart from that, I sleep the last at night so there's no way anyone could've taken it. Also it's in its case all the time.

When I worked at Best Buy, the LG 4K OLED TVs would get some serious burn-in from the demo video we had looping constantly. The LG rep told us to throw a flash drive in the TV and have it display a totally white screen for a few hours. We did it overnight and it worked. I suppose it's worth a shot on your phone, I'm sure there's an app for it. Overnight probably isn't necessary but a few hours should do.
Either way I'd try to RMA it because itll most likely happen again.
Just RMA'd through VZW, for burn in. Hopefully they send one prior to the 7.1.1 update, so I'm able to unlock the bootloader.
I automatically run a screen burn-in tool for 90 minutes everyday while I'm sleeping. I've had this phone since its release and not a bit of burn-in. I do it so I don't have to take the chance of having to get a VZW replacement that I might not be able to unlock.

Burn in is caused by leds being used more than the leds around them. By running a burn in tool you are just prematurally aging all your leds to try to make them match. Overall your just ending up with a dimmer display.

Guess you can finally sell the "piece of **** phone" for more than half price now.
I'll buy it from you for $1 over half price.

Earlier last month my volume buttons stopped working. I just received a replacement for my Pixel XL yesterday, it came with the original 7.1 on it. I was able to unlock the bootloader and root without issues. Although as soon as the phone booted up and activated it downloaded 7.1.1 and wanted to update, I turned it off immediately and unlocked and flashed a google stock rom.
Same burn in issue here on my Pixel XL from launch day.. Just got a replacement last week for it. May be going overboard, but on the new one I am using navbar apps, screen brightness at 50%, adaptive brightness set to on, gmd immersive app running to control most of my apps that give me the most on screen time which makes the status bar and navbar go away during this time.. Hoping it won't happen again - pretty frustrating to say the least..
I've had mine since launch and can't see any burn in at all. I've always left my phone at 50% with auto. I use it outside fine with these settings.

I'm lost here, what's a burn in tool? What purpose does it serve? What's the name of the App you use? I might need to bookmark that for later in case it happens to mine...

I've heard a lot of crazy things but I think this takes the cake. Forget it, you'll never need it and it won't do jack. By the time you get burn in you'll have a Pixel 4.
