Why the Notification Pulse LED Light in OnePlus 5 blinks in slow motion I have tried 'LightFlow' and 'Light Manager' but still no luck, is there a way around or this notification led light is meant to be blink in slow motion?

J remember Boeffla configure app has the option to change the blink speed. But for hat you'll have to be on Boeffla kernel.
No other way without rooting or using kernel?
I guess using EX Kernel Manager user settings could achieve it but I don't figured out how, at the moment.

It is configured in the framework-res.apk. Just use a vendor overlay to change the config value. You can change it to blink or fade.

Will it blinker faster after that as it does in other phones and do I need to root it in order to make these changes?

Hi,
Could you explain a bit more, please?
Is it possible to achieve this with EXKM ?

Sorry I didn't found it in the config of framework-res.apk of OOS. Maybe I was looking at the framework of another OS. So far the only ways I know is either to
1) use boeffla kernel which has fade control support (https://github.com/andip71/boeffla-...e245764#diff-a6e59726e0d746192656ea2f8fea380d)
2) change the led to be always on, that way of course the led will not fade, there are configurations for that in the framework-res.apk which you can change
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOn">2000</integer>
<integer name="config_defaultNotificationLedOff">2000</integer> -> change into 0

May worth digging!
What is a "vendor overlay" ?
Thank you.

Okay, I know everyone is probably annoyed at how infrequently the LED blinks. I think its once every 10 seconds.
Also, no light while charging.
Anybody know of an app to fix this?
Light Flow works great.

Just figured out how to use light flow. Thanks
Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I'm looking for a simpler solution - Light Flow is too much for what I need. I want to keep the default behavior of the notification light but I just want it to blink faster. Is there a system config file where I make the duration faster? Thanks.
I use Lightflow and it works just perfectly.

Thanks, but what I'm really looking for is a system config file or framework file to change.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the screen turn on when there was a new notification?
You can try Knock^2+ its a paid app and look like in screenshoot
It's the same for sms, you get only the icon+text, if you click at the top of the screen, the clockwill appear, the led can blink too
There is other free app too

Thank you for the suggestion. I currently have the following set-up (screen shot below). The Nexus 4 has the led notification but doesn't show for all things, and being small it can be missed. I've got Missed It! installed on the lockscreen to give me a run down. I've tried Screen Notifications but doesn't seem to work, although it does on the SG2.

How would Tasker work? Can you set it to turn the screen on once a set notification comes through?
And you can make the back led flash with Knock and it work with every app that have notification
Edit: There is also this free app:

Knock looks really good but it doesn't do what I require. I already have a notification list on the lockscreen, I would just like the screen to turn on, no displays or icons, just for the display to turn on. Like how the Samsung Galaxy S does.

Maybe I am missing something because I have Missed It! activated and when I activate Knock, nothing happens. I have the relevant apps monitored and tested it using the text function but nothing.
You can use light flow too. It has a free version. Main function is to customize your led but it has an option to turn on the screen when there is notification

Super, works a treat. Thank you. :good:
This guide is written for Android 4.4 and whatever version of Light flow that was the latest at the time. The menus are not the same for the latest version, but the same settings still apply.
1. Settings in Light flow
Check Direct mode, Root mode and HTC alternative mode.
If you are using Android 5.0, also check Run every command as root.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88075/Screenshot_2014-04-22-13-32-37.png
2. Settings in Android
Uncheck Flash LED notification under Display in settings.
3. Settings for the specific notification
Check Enable Mixer. Choose Solid or Flash under the color you want. Green and amber are the only colors that work.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88075/Screenshot_2014-04-22-13-36-37.png
You can change the flashing pattern by changing the LED brightness. There are only two values that work AFAIK: 1 and 4 (2 and 3 works too but gives the same result as 1).
It's possible to combine the two colors, one solid and one flashing. Note: solid green and flashing amber is not the same as solid amber and flashing green. It is also possible to combine two flashing colors in one specific combination, check list below.
This gives us a total of 11 combinations:
Solid green
Solid amber
Flashing green, value 1
Flashing green, value 4
Flashing amber, value 1
Flashing amber, value 4
Solid green + flashing amber, value 1
Solid green + flashing amber, value 4
Solid amber + flashing green, value 1
Solid amber + flashing green, value 4
Flashing green, value 4 + flashing amber, value 1
All combinations are not easy to see but since the options are very limited it's always nice to have more to choose from.
If this helps you, please click the thanks button!
thanks. My thanks posts are maxed out so have to say thanks the ol' fashioned way.. Now that summer has ended here, our schedule will slow down (got 2 kids under 5, keeps us busy besides everything else!), I'm having big motivation to really learn the other features like camera + video of the phone as I'm OK for the operating system side of things, the past 8 years for me suffering severe chronic pain means I haven't been that keen on learning (new) stuff due to the pain overtaking most things but I'm getting a little bit better, I feel the need for learning!
Posts like this are fantastic for "the vault" and learning to take advantage of stuff besides CPU and GPU 'only'. The other half of the phone is there for the taking for moi now.

On my device the notification LED using lightflow as described stays on!
Note: the solid LED settings gives a dimmed LED regardless of color and values.
With this useful thread I have setup eg. sms with solid green plus blinking amber with success. That makes a difference from the HTC standard always blinking green :good:

Strange. I guess you'll have to contact the developer of Light flow.
There must be way to modify stock .xml file and change duration time for LED notification. Existing 5 min is useless. I whish I know where to look for.

Is this related to Light flow? I can have LED notifications for a very long time. Not sure how long, haven't tested the limits.
Light Flow didn't work for me. But I did find line where I can change value. I think it will work sync there is no problem with led notifications on Revolution HD 7.0
Can someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi,
As you probably all noticed, the led notification is so slow, that it is almost useless unless you stare at the phone for like 20 seconds.
Is there a way to change its speed?
Why is Lightflow not working on this device? Color edits work but not speed.
Is it a kernel or software issue?
Thanks

I asked them this in one of their AMAs and their response was that they do not expect to add the ability to change the duration or colors (or give us the ability to change them ourselves)...something along the lines of it would affect everyone, so it is what it is.
I fully agree that the blue color is really impossible to notice and the duration is ridiculously slow. I've tried lightflow, but hate that interface and don't like having to run another app in the background.
I'm just waiting for a more stable version of LineageOS that has the controls built in.

Lightflow can only changes the colors anyway, not the speed/duration.
Is it a kernel or rom edits that is required for that?

The animation can be custom over time i guess. I hope they will figure sonething out for that, because it would be very cool.

Just at @duvee stated, they chose green after testing and finding it worked best. I'm sure within time someone will start to create their own animations.
Just in case you didn't already know, there are 3 animations to choose from built into the phone.
Settings -> Security & lock screen -> Fingerprint -> Fingerprint animation effect
Custom fingerprints
With sai Oreo theme substratum I was able to make the fingerprint scanner symbol black

I'll find it one day when I'm reaaalllyyy bored lol
It would be nice if we can have a way to make it more subtle or hide it on ambient display/lockscreen, e.g. translucent white, and only light it up upon scanning, because most of the time it fries my eyes in the middle of the night when I just pick it up to check the time
PS: Yes the icon and animations ARE in OPsystemUI.apk. I know how to extract it but don't know how to package it and sign and flash and anything else
Found them in systemUI. fod_icon_default_29 looks to be the stock fingerprint icon that's shown when no finger is placed on it. I'll mess with it. Hopefully it doesn't break fingerprint scanning.
