Bootloader-Relock LG G4 (H815) No Wipe, No Backups, All Versions - G4 General

Relock LG G4 Bootloader easily
First of all, I'm new here. So please tell me if I broke any rules or if I made any english mistakes.
Warning:
This guide will show you how to easily Re-Lock your Bootloader. Your Bootloader is then Locked! So, it's not really clever to lock the Bootloader when a Non-Stock-Rom is installed...
Requirements:
- LG G4 (H815) [This probably works with other LG's too]
- TWRP-Recovery installed or temporary booted using "fastboot boot"
- Stock-Android installed (Any Version)
- Flashable Bootloader/Boot Zip's for your Android-Version
For Android 6.0 you can get them here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20g-images-kdz-flashable-t3450503
How to Relock:
Step 1: Boot into TWRP
Step 2: Copy the Zip-Files to internal storage
Step 3: Go to Advanced/Terminal
Step 4: Perform this command:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block//bootdevice/by-name/misc
Your bootloader is Non-Functional now... Don't reboot until the next steps are completed!
Step 5: Flash both Zip-Files using TWRP
Step 6: Reboot
You now have a G4 with stock ROM and locked bootloader. If you wish to uninstall TWRP (Its no longer working) just Flash a Stock kdz-File using LGUP
Hope I was able to help someone...

in dd command are 2x //, is the corect command ? or just one / ?

The command is correct... If you perform it, it will make the bootloader crash. If you flash a clean bootloader now ur device is locked again.

... Thx for your thread even if it is known that the unlock state is handled by misc partition but it's good to have an own thread for it now. Latest TWRP beta can save the unlock state since a while.
Just wanted to add: if you made a misc backup before unlock you can just restore your backup. You can even flash a misc of an extracted kdz.
And another thing: if you zero out it like described you may loose your WiFi Mac and you can loose your imei. So before using this it's better to backup your current unlocked misc e.g. with the latest TWRP beta (select BL unlock state).
Backup before unlock is possible with SALT DLM backup ( https://tinyurl.com/dlbackup )

u can now re-lock your device with fastboot
important: you device must be FULLY STOCK BEFORE you lock it again! That means no TWRP, no custom ROM etc! otherwise you will brick the device
if you still want to use that method mentioned here:
Make a backup with SALT (basic mode is enough)
boot into fastboot:
Code:
[B]fastboot erase misc[/B]
is doing the same then the above mentioned way.
the misc partition contains also your IMEI, your MAC (wifi) and Bluetooth address. Those SHOULD be re-generated once you boot Android again but if not you will have the backup you created with SALT before.

wow perfect you was very clear, and OMG I didn't saw your projects man, you rock! another and last questions(after the cmd "fastboot erase misc" I should use the cmd mentioned in your first link? so "fastboot oem lock" (because i tried this cmd with fastboot and my phone is recognized I checked with "fastboot devices" but my try failed maybe I miss something? I unlocked bootloader 1 year ago now I want to relock it so I refurbished the stock kdz with lgup and try the cmd but the console said to me FAIL (unknown command remote) somethings like that)? otherwise What I should do? just flash bootloader and boot zips?
EDIT:
What I've done:
-Refurbished with LGUP last version of KDZ STOCK of my country
-Now I have my device STOCK but with bootloader to relock
-I downloaded your os
-I downloaded the zip bootloader and boot of my KDZ from this site
-I made a backup basic with your software SALT (just in case)
-I have just to erase misc part (don't reboot before I haven't done last flash for rebuild misc partition)
-But my last doubt is which cmd I have to do with SALT for reflash the two zip and if this zip containg the misc partition (because inside I did found misc bin or img)

I meant that you can also go the new way which is less risky by flashing the nougat bootloader in my mentioned link. Then you don't need to erase anything.

So I can just flash the v29a bootloader over my v20g or I should flash the entire stock with lgup?

manually with fastboot or in TWRP. Both require an unlocked device though.
SALT will allow restore in a future release in download mode too.

bootloader is unlocked again, but TWRP won't show the bin-files created and fastboot just returns:
Code:
> .\fastboot flash misc E:\salt_backup\misc.bin
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'misc' (16384 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.375s]
writing 'misc'...
FAILED (remote: cannot flash this partition in unlocked state)
finished. total time: 0.406s

Can I restore a stock image i backed up with with twrp and go from there or will I need to reflash a tot/kdz and reflash twrp first?

really reflashing a kdz is your best option. everything must be stock (no twrp or other mods are in place) so flashing a kdz ensures you are good.

that happens when you are on v29a.
on v29a its just a fastboot cmd to lock again: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/managed-to-relock-bootloader-t3660282
keep in mind that your phone is better pure stock before doing this and it will 100% brick your phone when you have UsU'd your device.

I am asking you with a very polite request for technical support. I upgraded after OTA Wi-Fi to the latest version of Android MarshMallow 6.0.
Please help me in the next steps.
The fastboot devices command does not work for me.
I post a screen showing the version of my Firmeware in the LGUP.
And Screen from the CMD console saying that the fastboot devices command does not work.
Please, help me, I am waiting for your answer.

Going back to Stock

Hi!
I'm trying to go back to stock+locked rom.
I have seen instructions with a lot of steps, but when I downloaded the rom from googe developers page, i noticed there is a flash-all.sh file that seems to do all the process...
Is this safe?
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz10o.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
sleep 5
fastboot flash radio radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.48.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
sleep 5
fastboot -w update image-occam-jdq39.zip
I don't want to brick the phone
Guide by efrant:
D. Type in the commands into the command prompt
1) Make sure your computer recognizes your device by typing: fastboot devices
2) Unlock your bootloader (if you have not already done so): fastboot oem unlock
3) You will see a prompt on your device. This will wipe your entire device (including the /sdcard folder). Accept. Note: you use the volume keys to change the option and the power button to accept. You cannot use the touch screen.
4) Reboot by typing: fastboot reboot-bootloader
5) Flash the bootloader: fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz10l.img (or whatever the name of the bootloader image that you downloaded).
6) Reboot: fastboot reboot-bootloader
7) Flash the radio: fastboot flash radio radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.33.img (or whatever the name is of the radio image that you downloaded).
8) Reboot: fastboot reboot-bootloader
9) Flash the system partition: fastboot flash system system.img
10) Optional (NOT optional for n00bs) -- Flash the data partition: fastboot flash userdata userdata.img Note: this command will wipe your device (including /sdcard), EVEN if your bootloader is already unlocked. See note 2 below.
11) Flash the kernel/ramdisk: fastboot flash boot boot.img
12) Optional (NOT optional for n00bs) -- Flash the recovery partition: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
13) Erase the cache partition: fastboot erase cache
14) Reboot: fastboot reboot
15) Done! The first boot will likely take quite a bit longer than you are used to, as Android builds the Dalvik cache.
Now you have a fully stock image on your device. The only thing that is different from out-of-the-box condition is that your bootloader is unlocked. See the notes section at the end of this post for information on re-locking the bootloader.
You have to unpack the system.image file as you can only flash .img files in fastboot. What`s with the sleep 5?
Good luck.
I've seen some youtube tutos that use that .sh file and it does flash the .zip with fastboot......
That's why I ask, I mean: The previous thread, which i already read before, is like a step-by-step process, when this .sh file would do it all for you!!
The sleep command gives 5 seconds of grace time for the device to reboot.....

Haven`t used that method myself, but if you think it will work go ahead
WOrst case scenario, the console woud throw me out to the command prompt and I would have to do it by hand......

[GUIDE][Osprey] Fastboot Flashing Factory Firmware Images

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens as a result of flashing these files. Your destiny is your own.
Based on existing tutorial by @t-bon3. This guide has been created as a hard-brick occurred using the old Moto G (1st Gen) tutorial. Please exercise extreme care with Fastboot, and only use the commands mentioned here. Experimenting with Fastboot commands can seriously damage your phone.
How to Fastboot Flash Moto G (3rd Gen) Factory Firmware Images
Required Files:
Motorola Drivers: Download
Latest Fastboot | ADB (Windows | Linux): Download (Windows 10 users may need this pack for Drivers to work.)
Factory Firmware Images: [INDEX][Osprey] Moto G Factory Firmware Images
WARNING: You must perform a 'Factory data reset' in Stock Recovery before flashing any Firmware Image - instructions here.
Instructions:
1) Extracting Fastboot and Firmware Images:
Extract zip for chosen Firmware Image to a folder with a simple directory structure. For example: C:\motog_firmware\
Extract the adb-fastboot-latest_win_linux.zip into this folder.
2) Reboot the phone into 'Bootloader mode' and preparing PC for flashing
Windows:
Entering Fastboot mode:
------------------------------------
i) The 'hardware' way.
a) Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone.
b) Press and hold 'Volume down' then power on the phone.
c) Connect USB cable to your computer.
ii) The 'software' way.
a) Enable developer mode on the Moto G (Settings-> 'About Phone'. Tap 7 times on 'Build Number')
b) Enable USB debugging. (Settings -> 'Developer options' -> 'USB Debugging' -> check)
c) Connect phone to computer via USB, you should see a new ADB device detected and drivers installed.
d) Open Command Prompt, navigate to the Firmware / ADB folder (i.e CD C:\motog_firmware ) and type:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Linux:
Entering Fastboot mode:
------------------------------------
i) The 'hardware' way.
a) Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone.

c) Connect phone to computer via USB
d) Navigate to the Firmware folder, right-click and open terminal and type:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
Installing ADB / Fastboot:
-------------------------------------
Flashing via Linux LiveCD: (Put factory firmware files on an external usb drive / pen)
--------------------------------
a) Download Ubuntu LiveCD
b) Burn to DVD or write to USB pen
c) Restart PC, Boot from DVD into Ubuntu
d) Open Terminal and type the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
e) Test fastboot by typing: sudo fastboot devices
You should see:
<serial number> fastbootf) You are now ready to flash the fastboot files

3) Fastboot Commands:
Do commands manually, one at a time - checking that each one returns an [OKAY].
NOTE: Do not simply copy and paste these commands! - system.img_sparsechunks may differ in number and name.
Always check contents of folder you're working with. You must flash all of the sparsechunk files you have.
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MODEL
FLASHING WRONG FIRMWARE CAN DESTROY A PHONE
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I restore Factory Firmware if my Bootloader is locked?
Yes. However attempting to downgrade to an older version of Android may fail - 'Preflash validation' error. Even with an unlocked Bootloader, downgrading cannot be guaranteed. It's also important to be aware that flashing the wrong Bootloader (bootloader.img) for your model can have serious consequences. Always establish your model of Moto G before flashing.
I get a 'Preflash validation' error when flashing a Firmware Image
The Firmware Image you are trying to flash is too old. You can only flash a firmware image that matches, or is newer than the most recent system version you have had on your phone. However the former scenario can also sometimes return the error. In which case, your options are to wait for an even newer firmware image or unlock Bootloader and flash a ROM zip.
After flashing Firmware Image files phone gets stuck during boot-up | will not load Android?
Check you are naming the files correctly, and make sure you are flashing all of the 'sparsechunk' files - not just those mentioned in the tutorial. The 'sparsechunk' commands listed there are not to be copied exactly, different firmware images may have different files.
How to flash Radio Firmware only?
Use the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
How do I downgrade to an older Firmware?
Downgrading carries risks, and may result in constant nagging notifications to update Android. Decide carefully if this is really what you want. With earlier generations of Moto G flashing bootloader.img and gpt.bin has resulted in a hard-brick. Avoid flashing these files if you are trying to downgrade. The safer option is to find a custom Stock ROM with OTA Updates disabled.
Fastboot in Linux is not working?
In Linux, root access is required for Fastboot and/or ADB to work.
sudo fastboot devices

EDIT: This information is based on the servicefile.xml included with many of these firmware images.
Hey im new here and with rooting

im downloading the file now can someone tell my how to flash the firmware succesfully?
model: xt1541 moto g 2015
pleas reply thanks
Help to change my firmaware
Dear Lost101,
First at all, thanks for your post.
I was trying to change the firmware of my phone, because I live in Argentina and use a different band for 4G LTE Spain (where I bought the phone).
My Moto G3 is XT1541, and I need the XT1540.
When I was changing the firmare, I had problems when I wrote "fastboot flash boot boot.img"... The command shows "FAILED". Then, I change the model, put again the firmare XT1541, and everything will be right again.
Do you know why I couldn't flash with XT1540?
Best regards and thanks in advance!

Flashing a different Model Firmware will not magically unlock or change Band support. Maybe with an unlocked Bootloader you can flash another Model's Firmware, but proceed with caution as you could end up with a dead phone.
Thanks Lost101.
Really I dont looking for change my firmware, but I suppuose that this could be a way to change the cell band....
Do you know or you heard about some way to change band support?

There is this guide for Moto G (1st Gen) and this universal guide - however I don't know if either will work for you or what damage trying them might cause.
Thnak you very much Lost101!
just a small tip you can copy all text and flash then paste it in CMD it will flash all the partitions no need to enter manually one by one
Dear all,
I have a XT1541, and flash my Moto G3 with a XT1540 and XT1543 firmwares without problems. However I had to unblock the phone before flash it.
Lost101 I can confirm you that replace the model firmware DO NOT change the band frequencies... Thanks again for your warnings!
Very useful guide. Everything is working fine.

This usually occurs when attempting to Flash a Firmware Image older than the one currently installed. Unlocking Bootloader will often remove this error.
You can normally skip this command and still successfully flash Android.

A2017G How to relock Bootloader to original mode.

Hi,
is it possible to relock the bootloader to original factory mode.
fastboot oem lock (will erase userdata)
Also you should restore the fbop partition: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/fbop
For more reference see:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/help/lock-unlocked-bootloader-t3444044
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68738854&postcount=100
Also please don't open a thread to a question that has already been answered several times.
After i unlocked bootloader my phone now is recognized as A2017U. When i relock it will it then recognized as original A2017G ?
I am interested in a tutorial about going back to stock for G model
The procedure for the g model is no different than the U model except you have to revert the bootloader (fbop partition) because the european model is quite restricted.
For making a tutorial I would need to know exactly what you modified.
There are already good step by step guides in this forum. All I could offer you are my backup files for the recovery and bootloader for the 2017G with update B08.

At the moment i am on B09 rooted but I installed it via TWRP using DrakenFx's tutorial from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68873485&postcount=3
Futhermore when I unlocked the bootloader I was on B03 and I saved the aboot.img and fbop_lock.img .
Now I would like to go back to fully stock to prepare for the android N update.
I would highly appreciate it if you could offer me some directions for this matter.
Never tried this method (so I take no responsibility) but in order to receive ota you need an unmodified system with locked bootloader.
To lock your bootloader:
First backup all your apps, data and internal sdcard !
Connect your phone to a PC and start adb:
Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
Phone will restart: (if you are on linux, run fastboot with root permission)
Type: "fastboot oem device-info" (just to check things)
"fastboot oem lock" (will lock your bootloader)
According to DrakenFX you should have the stock recovery already installed. So you can flash a sd card upgrade from ZTE "http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=98CEB24F9FFD433EA99EC424163149A6" (to bring you back to stock)
If you still have TWRP use DrakenFX files to flash your system back to stock, but this time do not flash supersu.
You should be good to go and just have to wait for ZTE to release the update and apply it via the updater UI.
BTW this is my fastboot oem device-info output:
(bootloader) Device tampered: false
(bootloader) Device unlocked: true
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: true

@dodo34
This is correct, the full image should be the one that contains both the emmc_appsboot.mbn (this is your aboot or bootloader partition) and the fastboot.img (the fbop or fastboot command partition) as well as recovery.img. This will set everything back to stock in one swoop. Otherwise you have to reflash the signed (tenfars) TWRP to flash back the fastboot image and then falsh back stock, since regular TWRP will either not be there anymore or will not run since BL is locked now
P.S, you can leave the fastboot alone for the purposes of OTA, no update so far hes checked on it and i am not sure if there is a G package with it since it has not changed from release, so as long as the image you flash has the bootloader and recover you should be good for N
P.S.2 Actually I see a little catch 22 here. If you lock the BL first, then you will not be able to run TWRP or boot into system if it was modified. You would need to flash the "signed" version of TWRP or flash stock recovery before locking the BL. Stock would be preferable since it can flash the factory package withouht modifications. If using TWRP i think you have to change updater-script to remove a .... and i just found another catch 22. The updater-script will look for product name P996A04 and if yours shows as 2017U the it will report back P996A01 so you will have to have a signed TWRP on there no matter what. Either to flash the backed up aboot fbop and recovery and then flash the full factory package through stock recovery or mod the updater-script and remove the assert line and flash the whole thing with TWRP. What do you get in TWRP shel when you run this "getprop ro.product.model"

if he mod the updater_script from official zte update to make it flash friendly, this is what i'll do,
* Mod updater script and remove aboot and recovery for now
* flash new zip without file mention above
* boot to bootloader while having custom recovery
* lock back the bootloader
* boot to custom recovery and perform " format data "
* create a flashable zip with stock aboot and recovery
* flash new zip with aboot and recovery
* reboot to recovery and check if boot to stock recovery and while in there perform a factory reset
i know is a lot of steps but, seems like is the way to go to get everything back in place without zte noticing anything.
Now i am on B06.
I put update.zip B08 and select update. But it boots to TWRP recovery and update fails.
@dodo34 If you are trying to restore from the OS system update you need to reflash your stock recovery for it to work properly. Wait for someone to confirm what I just said, but that's how it worked for me.

Putting Your Axon 7 Back to Stock
If you want to revert back to stock and re-lock your bootloader (eg. sending the phone in for warranty work or are selling it), you should be able to do that using the steps below. It worked for me, anyway, exactly as written below.
Copy everything off your internal storage that you don't want to lose. If you're not rooted (so already stock, but with unlocked bootloader), skip to step 6 below. Otherwise, continue.
Grab the "StockSystem" zip for your variant from this thread and place on your microSD card: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-guide-updates-to-stock-files-via-t3469484
Reboot into TWRP and wipe system, data, dalvik, and cache
Flash the StockSystem zip and power off (doing so will restore stock boot but does not appear to restore recovery)
Boot into EDL mode and flash stock recovery only: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/wip-axon-7-root-bootloader-unlokced-t3441204
Power off the phone, plug from computer, and then boot into stock recovery (hold Vol+ and press Pwr, continue holding Vol+ until recovery comes up)
Select "Wipe data / factory reset" and then "Yes"
After that finishes, select "Reboot to bootloader"
Plug in your phone into your computer and do: fastboot oem lock (see second post if this doesn't work and says <waiting for device>)
Your phone will reboot and should have been totally wiped (including internal storage) by doing the above
This should leave you with a stock, locked, and unrooted phone that can take OTAs. Note: it's possible (in fact, likely) that an OTA could break the ability to unlock your bootloader and gain root again, so be careful about going back to stock if you think you'll want to unlock/root later on!
If you need any stock files for B20 or B27 (stock recovery for re-locking, for example), you can get them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/untouched-b20-boot-recovery-files-t3443818

Flashed Draken TWRP System Image B06
Flashed Draken TWRP Stcok Recovery B06
Flashed full update.zip B08
Now my phone is recognized as A2017G on the PC
But when i reboot the phone i get a message that the phone is unlocked and not trusted ?
why ?

FYI: recovered G5 XT 1676 to stock and updated. :)

Just an FYI type thing that may save people a bit of digging around sometime.
I tried to get the update that just came out, but as i had TWRP as recovery, no good. Anyhow, in my trying i completely bollixed the phone. Would start, but always booted to TWRP and had various conniptions. Could not even get a TWRP backup to load. Strange not encountered before by me stuff............
Anyhow, recovered by the following method to stock and am back in business.
Boot into bootloader fastboot mode.
Extract .xml.zip format firmware file:
eg: CEDRIC_NPP25.137-15_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
to a folder on c drive of the PC that has the ADB and fastboot files in it.
In command prompt cd\ to that directory.
fastboot flash the following in sequence.
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk4
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
boots to stock .

After this, Motorola system update installed. On Australian XT1676 is build number NPP25.137-15-7
Patch level 1-May-2017
Still get the I cant be trusted page on power up as have unlocked bootloader.
Many thanks to all at XDA, its a resource that can certainly get you into trouble, but then out of it again.
where do you get the stock firmware?
Think I worked out what I did wrong. Somehow, I changed the format of the data partition. Fat fingers at some point??
TWRP backups didn’t like that and would not mount or write to the data partition as it was not f2fs format that the backup had been made in??
Anyway, restored data from a TWRP backup after going to ....wipe…format data. All good.
That gave me the passcode lockout issue at next reboot which can deal with.

You can get rid of that easily
Put phone in fastboot mode
Download logo from link below
Enter the following in a windows command prompt where you have fastboot files & the logo file
Code:
fastboot.exe flash logo logo-g5-fix.bin

No you cannot downgrade (same firmware version or newer required)
Yes - unlocked bootloader not required
As long as your phone still goes into the bootloader
You should flash all sparsechunks in number order
Thanks a bunch,
So to be absolutely clear, my phone shipped with NPP25.137-15-7 i can't install the stock rom linked, and the same version isn't out yet,
if i unlock the bootloader, would i be able to downgrade ?
Is the software channel setting preserved across this method?

You maybe able to - there are different variants of the same phone
As long as the firmware is the same or newer (as in the bootloader and API version) it may flash
It will either flash or error out
There's only one way to find out - if your phone is dead anyway it's not going to make alot of difference
No - generally you can never downgrade firmware - doing so would be dangerous and you may loose the bootloader for good
thanks again,
motoboot.img is the bootloader you talk about? is the partition layout described somewhere? would custom roms use a different one here?
do tell me by the way if i should get this information elsewhere/if i should read something to get started in the whole moto g world.

You're partially right. These commands won't work for our files. You have to flash the firmware according to the instructions contained within the "flashfile.xml" file within the archive. For example we have no "motoboot" partition
I've flashed every stock package available now (4 I think) and haven't been offered an update once. I've ran a couple of custom ROMs but they're just not right in one way or another. Might be time to move on.

I upgraded to this and since then can't downgrade the phone to the stock roms available online. From memory trying to flash gpt.bin gave a "Security version downgrade" error. So I wouldn't assume you'll be able to downgrade and until there is a copy of this particular firmware, you won't be able to flash back or relock the bootloader

[Moto G6 Plus] Unable to locate recovery partition

I bought a new Moto G6 Plus XT1926. My goal is to install a twrp image as recovery and then next the lineage.
I got a weird issue when trying to flash "twrp-3.2.1-37-evert.img" on my 1926 by using "./fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-37-evert.img" on a mac console. The output is:
XT1926 myMac$ ./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (29440 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.630s]
writing 'recovery'..
(bootloader) Invalid partition name recovery
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.634s
Just before I unlocked the Bootloader. I tried:
1. Locking bootloader again and flash => nope
2. Restoring the partition table by the following commands:
./fastboot oem fb_mode_set
./fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
./fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
./fastboot flash logo logo.bin
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
Does anyone know why the partition "recovery" may be not present and how to make it flashable?
I flashed a XT1039 multiple times without issues, so I got some experiences. But i am out of ideas here.
How can it be that there simple is no recover on the phone I wonder.
Also I downloaded the "TWRP official" App and installed it within the Moto G stock rom and it also says that it can not locate the recovery.
I tried some stuff for two evenings and now i do not know how to continue...
Thanks for hints!
The Recovery is inside the boot, that's why the G6Plus don't have an official TWRP.
The ones we have are the bootable one with decryption enabled, or a flashable one with no decryption
So instead of flashing the TWRP to the recovery partition, I should flash it to the boot partition?

No. Do not flash it at all! Load bootloader on your phone, from a pc with a fb and fastboot on it, run "fastboot boot twrp.img" without quotes and twrp.img matches the filename of the twrp IMG file. At this time we can not install twrp to our device. We can only boot it on our device using a pc every single time you need twrp. There was a twrp.img for our device we could flash with fastboot to install on our device but it does not properly flash files sadly. We are trying to raise funds to buy a device for a recognized developer in hopes of making some real progress on modding this device! Look around the G6 forums here and find the thread if you are able to make a PayPal donation or would like to see if you could donate in another way.

Sadly no news. We have official TWRP now which is good. I'll talk to the devs and try to figure out if it's worth getting a pool started.
