No.......
It's happening automatically every time
did you recently do a restore? in my experience doing a restore removes the smart lock. you may need to start fresh fresh.

I had this same problem occur on Saturday and found the solution on the oneplus forums. Disable Smart Lock under Trust Agents, reboot, then reenable Smart Lock. That fixed it for me.

None of them are working, even I tried by factory reset, working for some time and getting disabled automatically.
Download and install Google Play Services apk. Same or newer version, be careful to use the correct version in terms of architecture, dpi, etc. when downloading from APK mirror. Once the apk is installed, you'll have Smart Lock enabled once again. Keep the APK, as reboots might make it disappear again.

I have the same problem.
A workaround without reboot:
- Disable SmartLock from Trusted Apps
- Go to Apps
- Select Google Play Services and then Force Stop
- Enable SmartLock again

This is an issue on the OP5T as well. I found the only way to get it to persist through a reboot was with a factory reset unfortunately.

I actually haven't had this reoccur for some time. Smart Lock has been very stable for me on the last few updates.

The issue eventually came back even after a factory reset.. I think it could be a conflict between OOS and Google Play services Beta.
Miraculously I think the latest Google Play services has finally fixed it. I checked the installed variant on my 5T and it was 090400 so I sideloaded 12.6.87 (090400-197331306) and now it persists through a reboot again!
Perhaps was part of the whatever they fixed to get Trusted Places working again: https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/05/24/trusted-places-returned-smart-lock/
Edit: Aaaand it's gone.
I think it's because the devices are appearing to be uncertified.

I need some help, it started lasted night out of the blue.
This message "Unfortunately, Security policy updates has stopped" keeps appearing out of nowhere. See attachment.
I didn't even do any tweaking at that time. No one seems to have this problem when I google it lol.
What I did now is that I froze all knox apps via Titanium but it still appears.
Just now I disabled automatic updates on Settings> Security. Hopefully this works. But still I want to find out why now of all the time.
Latest tweak I did was install 1.2 UPSM which I didn't use at all at that time interval.

Hi.
I have the same problem started yesterday.
Did you manage to get it fixed?
So i downloaded this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
And went to system apps scrolled down to security policy updates and disabled all the check boxes. And looks like it is working.:good:

Hope this helps but the cause for me was because greenify could "hibernate" system apps. Maybe you have an app that has the same level of access. Or it could be one of the other "experimental features". The only thing I'm sure of that it had access to system processes. I didn't install any apps to fix it, only disabled the experimental feature.

I have a few app using system app resources. But thanks for the info and tip will look into my xposed app list and supersu list to see what uses what.
I'm trying to disable Play Protect in the menu of the play store and/or in Google services menu and the option to do so isn't there. I have a 918 on 10k. Also need help disabling my own personal Hate for Google button.
I came here from a Google search. The option has disappeared on my phone too. I only switched it off a few days ago.
Now it is back on with no option to turn it off. I can only guess Google have deliberately removed the option
My phone is Doogee BL5000 if that makes any difference. Android 7.0

Same. I Googled it, and my phone and Tab s2 tablet do not have the option Google says I should have. I do not even have the option in my phone setting-google services-security to disable "verify apps". I play around with Lucky Patcher sometimes and the play store calls it a virus but now I'm getting a 504 error updating Kaspersky. Everything else updated. I feel it's related.
Why turn it off?

I also use LP and there's an option to disable play protect within LP, then again we shouldn't talk about LP on xda.
I'm getting warnings about 2 apps, the one that can not be mentioned and SELinux Switch. I don't mind Google protecting us but they should at least allow us to disable it if we are confident.
There's no option to disable Play Protect any more. If you choose to "use anyway" you are still stuck with permanent explanation notifications and a permanent warning in Play Store
I can't find any information about this even from Google themselves
Hope somebody on this site can find a fix for this

I must have found the same info as you did. Are you having any issues updating any apps? There should be no reason my anti-virus won't update right now. I did just install xposed and activate the module for the "the app that cannot be named". I'll try to uninstall it when I get a chance.

No, not that I've noticed. Apps are updating as normal as far as I can tell. I do have Magisk and I'm having issues with getting SafetyNet status. Maybe that is affecting something

Check your play store settings. It showed up finally. I turned it off.
Thanks. Found the option and turned off
No option for me to turn off. Nothing in settings. Auto updated itself today.
I have done a factory reset on my tablet running the latest update. That made the downloads work for awhile. They stopped working and I tried the clearing of the cache and data for the Google play store and Google play store services. That worked for awhile too. Now I'm back to not being able to download updates or new apps from the play store. Has anyone else encountered this issue and successfully fixed it?
You can open Play Store and start the updates or dowload, but the app is waiting eternally to receive data? If so, it happened for me once also.
Just google for the problem and you'll find official help from google about this. They give several options, and there was one that made it for me. But i can't remember which one. I think it was to remove updates from google services, and not just clean data. And after that it was working fine again.
But try to google for that, 'cause they state several possible causes. It seems to be not a rare problem.

I'm facing the same problems. Also did a complete reset. I tried to install a beta version of Play Services which fixed it for a while.
It's not predictable for me, sometimes it works, sometimes not. After a restart updates work more often.

I had the same issue and I did factory reset to my table twice, later I found in some forum (I forgot the site, sorry) that a simple quick solution to that without factory reset was to enable / disable the Battery saver feature, sounds crazy I know, but it works, it also works when my tablet doesn't want to download any file, Just would like to have the issue permanently solved from an update tough...
Good Luck!

Thank you SO much! I've been dealing with this problem off and on for months, and had accepted that I would just have to remove all of the data for the Play Store and Services and reboot every time. I just tried enabling and disabling Battery Saver and it worked perfectly. This really makes a difference.

I disabled them all, but changed nothing. All that helps is enter energy saving mode.

I don't know whitch worked - new Play Store in general or the second thing which I did - I've turned off battery optimisation for Goolge system apps and the general Google search app - worked as a charm (Packet instaler, Google services framework, google partner setup, google one time init). Apps are downloading like crazy, automatically or not, my battery performance was not affected.
Hope it's gonna work for you as it did for me
Cheers!

Tried that, didnt work.
I hope someone can help. Since buying my SM-G975U at release, every several days, Play Store updates get stuck at download pending. The only way to get them downloading again is to uninstall updates to the Play Store app. Then, updates will install as expected for a few days, but then this will happen again.
I just factory reset my phone, installed all updates and installed apps one by one rather than restoring from a backup, and I'm back to the same issue.
What else can I try to fix this??
Thanks for any assistance.

Yeah, I've tried it just about every time this has happened, and it's never fixed the problem. Yet that seems to be the most common fix. Thanks for the suggestion and quick reply.
I have the exact same problem too, clearing cache and data works sometimes, changing wifi networks also works sometimes but very erratic!

It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one. Sure wish there was a clear problem/solution.
In sifting through Google searches, I read something about disabling Android Setup. I read someone else say the problem might be having two launchers (I use Nova), but I've always had two launchers on my phone.
I'll have to try changing wifi networks next time it happens.
Actually, I have two launchers too, Nova being my main one and Dodol as the second although I can actually remove that now. It'd be weird if that conflicted.
I had that issue when i was running my vpn. Had to disconnect for my playstore to act normally again.

I was counting the stock OneUI launcher as one of my two (and I use a home switcher app to switch between them). But if this were really a problem, wouldn't a ton of people have it?

I wonder if that could be it. But, just like the other possible solutions, I've had PIA running on my phones for years without this problem. I wonder if setting the Play Store to bypass the VPN in PIA's per app settings might help.

I am on the May patch, and it doesn't seem to be an improvement, for sure. I believe, though, that my Play Store issue predates the May patch.
Im on the may patch, no issues here
I've had this issue before and the way I solved it is by making sure that whatever items I disabled in AdHell or PackageDisabler, to re-enable them and then restart the phone and see if the issue is still present. It was not for me, so I went down the list of disabling things again one by one. All is good now. Unfortunately I am unsure which package was it that was causing the issue, but definitely a samsung one if I am not mistaken.

Thanks. I'll give this a try. I only had disabled Flipboard, Game Launcher, and a dictionary. I've re-enabled those. They don't seem like critical apps, but it's worth a try.
I appreciate the input.
I'm having the issue from time-to-time without any third-party app that could interfere.
Rebooting is sometimes the only way to fix it.
September update here. Cleared cache on play store,in Google app, reboot. Nothing solves to me
Hi guys
So I have disabled a few apps but the phone activates Google Photos and YouTube on its own, mainly after reboot. I have disabled automatic app updates on Play Store but that didn't do it.
Anyone with an idea on why this keeps happening?
Thanks.
I feel ya ? ... Just keep trying til they stay disabled. it usually takes a few tries to disable it cause Google reactivates them but after a few times they stay deactivated. I only use Google maps but even then It'll even update itself even if you uncheck the do not auto update.
Are you not rooted? I take it that's the only reason not to just remove them entirely?
Last time I ran OOS I removed a bit more than this, but this is an old list I posted. I never had any problems anything in that post.

Does it take more than 10 times? I have disabled plenty already and it updates because of something related to the language of the apps (I have cleared app data but didn't help).

Nope, no root. The solution is very straight forward with root
