Dear Gents,
I would like to ask an advice and help also.
My phone is XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 4, snapdragon 625 with 3gb RAM and 32gb of memory. as per the specifications, the dualband signal is supported.
My problem is, why can't it detect 5ghz wifi signal?
Please Help me.
Thanks and Best Regards
More power to the XDA people!
Cheers!
Are you sure you have a note 4 and not note 4x, which does NOT support dualband?
I think that is his problema the 4x hasn' t got the capacity of get 5Ghz signals.

does Nexus 4 has 5 G WI-FI (802.11ac) chips built in ?
i thought its just b/g/n but Phil Nickinson (AndroidCentral.com) states it does

Yes the nexus 4 does have the 5ghz band. It is under wireless, and from there it is under advanced settings

guys, forgive my ignorance. Im a little confuse here.
Just for clarification.
In tech world terms, is the WIFI 802.11ac chip is the same as a dual band wifi 2.4 and 5 GHz chip ?
5ghz is not ac. Both n and ac use 5ghz, but they're not the same thing. It's like how wireless a, b and g use the 2.4ghz spectrum but they're not the same standard.
so in conclusion in this thread, the Nexus 4 does not have WIFI 802.11ac chip but has a WIFI 802.11n dual band chips.
by the way, which do you think is better in a smartphone device in the future?
a single band 5GHz WIFI 802.11ac chip or a WIFI 802.11n dual band (2.5 and 5 GHz) ?
802.11ac will be available in the Snapdragon S800, the technology was "apparently" not available when the S4 Pro was considered.

I do not believe the Nexus 4 supports AC. However it does support 5GHz 802.11n
I know that it might be off topic, but I think that most wireless routers you'll encounter today - and a couple years from now - will probably not even have dual band, let alone 802.11ac. I'm not trying to push back technology but it takes two to tango, and most routers aren't in a "dance" mode.

wondering what wifi connection speeds people are getting on their oneplus 2,
according to ifixit teardown it has a Qualcomm QCA6174 802.11ac Wi-Fi 2x2 so it should have two antennas.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/OnePlus+2+Teardown/45352?utm_source=oneplus2teardown&utm_medium=Description&utm_campaign=YouTube
but I am only getting single antenna speeds, same connections speeds as G4 and basically half of the speeds I got with my nexus 6.
I also would like to know oneplus 2 wifi speed. Seems like beside Samsung Galaxy S6 or Note 5, all other smartphone today can only support 802.11ac up to 433Mbps. Hope Oneplus 2 support 2x2 866Mbps.
I am getting half or less the speed I get with my Oneplus One! ! Tested both a few minutes ago, 21mbps on the 2, 68mbps on the OPO. Seriously.

Same issue, 1x1 speed @433 instead 866. Pfft.
Hey I am looking to buy Redmi 3s (2GB RAM variant) , if any1 have used this device for some time now......
How is the software experience and ram management .....also does it heat up quickly
Thanks in advance.
Hi All,
Thanks for coming to the post. I know this is not a review website, but I could not find the solution anywhere else. I need your help in choosing my next phone. I am deciding between Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro ($350) and Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 ($200). I know the price difference between them is somewhat unjustifiable, but I am choosing between mid-rangers from Xiaomi and Samsung. Now I have a few points to make so that I can have a proper explanation.
Before starting, just FYI, I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Xiaomi MI4. My father has a RedMi Note 3 and my sister has a RedMi Note 4. Beside these, I have used many phones from Samsung and other manufacturers as well. So I fairly know how good phones both manufacturers produce.
1) Galaxy A9 Pro in India comes with S652 chipset flanking 4GB RAM and 32 gigs of storage. RedMi Note 3, on the other hand, is available with S650 chipset having 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage. While the specs are in favour of Galaxy A9 Pro, why RedMi Note 3 has upper hand in most benchmarks? If it is because of TouchWiz, does it lags horribly?
2) A (very) few people, including GSMArena, mentioned a kind of screen flicker in Galaxy A9 while in low brightness. Any explanations on that? Does Galaxy A9 Pro suffers from same issues?
3) In a dual sim phone, if my first SIM is 4G/VoLTE based (Reliance JIO), what would be the supported network on 2nd (GSM, 3G or 4G) ? I have heard that 2nd SIM stays in 2G. Is that true for both the phones? I have also heard that RedMi Note 3 supports 3G in secondary slot.
4) Galaxy A9 Pro misses out the Gyro Sensor. Apart from VR, what else I'll be missing out if I opt for Galaxy A9 Pro? Also, what is the cost range for a decent VR box (I am poor)?
5) Do you knoy any video or website link where I can see a thorough overview of Galaxy A9 Pro UI? There are certain features I like in the ROM itself, and I do not want to root the new galaxy on day one. Fortunately all of them are available in MIUI, but I need to see someone's Galaxy A9 Pro. (App lock, Headsup notification disable, inbuilt data saver etc)
6) How good is the battery backup for Galaxy A9 Pro?
7) Samsung recently discontinued Galaxy A9 Pro in India due to which, the price has fallen from almost $500 to $350. What could be the reason behind it? Is there any production fault?
8) Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro is available for $350, Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 is available for $200. Considering all of my requirements and situation, should I spend $150 more for Galaxy A9 Pro?
Is there a nifty alternative for Second Space or Dual Apps from MIUI? Parallel space is a fairly poor adware, and even if I buy it for $3, it is a resource hog. Any recomendations?
Thanks for your time and input.
Have a great time ahead.
P.s. Mi Max Prime is too big for me.

I think the more important is : Do you want paid 150$ for toucwiz and what design you prefer ...
And touchwiz is nice now. No samsung doesn't have second space like MIUI and idk a good alternative
1. I have heard that this phone comes in 4G+2G connectivity. Redmi Note 3/4 on the other hand comes with 4G+3G connectivity. Is this an important thing to consider, because if I am using internet from first SIM, the second SIM will only be used for calls. So should I be worried about this thing?
2. Can I select 3G/2G on first SIM and 4G on second SIM without changing the cards?
Hello,
As M1 and RN5Pro both have snapdragon 636 soc, why both differ in wifi configuration?
zenfone M1 does not support 5gz ac band while RN5Pro does?
As far as i can figure out, this could be due to aggressive price set up by asus, as 5gz would cost them more to have it enabled?
And if so, can a custom ROM or binaries from RN5Pro can eventually give us 5gz band in future?
Any inputs?
Thanks.

Actually, the smartphone antennas don't come along with the chipset. It is the circuit board that houses the antennas. So there might be differences in wifi capabilities.
It is true that this phone does not use 5GHz wifi. But it wouldn't be a problem for anyone, unless you use a router with 5GHz. Most routers have 2.4 set as the default.
although the antennas come differently but the wifi band, network bands, are supplied by the maker of the cpu.
so as rn5 supports qc but our phone doesnt support qc Asus would have to pay extra to support wifi 5ghz.
regarding getting binaries from rn5 it will be challenging to do that to add support to 5ghz
