hello everyone
does the note 3 has all-in-one remote like on the lg g2? like can you use it to control devices not included in the main app? lg g2 can do this because it has ir signal reader (i think its called this way), so can you confirm that the note 3 has this feature?
thanks

i do believe so ive got ,tv,sound system ,hifi, dvd, sky, and more
I disabled WatchOn and installed Smart IR Remote. I can control anything with an IR transceiver. (Provided the right protocol is included in the app.)
So yes, you can.
ShadowLea does Smart IR Remote allow to learn IR-protocol from the original RC if the IR-code is not in the library?
No it has no learn function. I was communicating with the developer of this app and they haven't found a way to implement that (yet).

I have tried famous brands like Mitsubushi, Mcquery, Gree. None works.
Air conditioners tend to send ALL settings every time. so the IR program nees to be able to send "macro" IR signals..
Its a bit like morse code
for instance, a TV "Power On" might be ---...
channel up might be --.-
and air conditioner will use "power on" as ---.--.-------....---...--------...---.--.----.--..---.---.--.--.--
Which would translate to something like "Power on, 23deg C, Cool, Swing, Quiet mode, turn off in 3 hours"
it makes it harder to program, but its still do-able.

I have wondered about this, too. In fact, it seems to me that Samsung's always on display (AOD) feature is quite severely limited, to the point that I question it has value that exceeds its cost in battery life.
I like my S7 Edge device very much, but I also own a Droid Turbo 2 (basically the same device as the Motorola Moto X Force), and having become accustomed to the exceptionally useful features of its version of an AOD (called Moto Display), I can scarcely believe Samsung's engineers weren't embarrassed to release their flagship's analogous feature, having surely seen their competitor's version.
On the Motorola device, the Moto Display screen only comes on when you look at it or it detects activity in front of the screen.
Unlike Samsung's implementation, Moto Display reacts fully to touch, allowing the following interactions:
* initiate a screen unlock
* view icons of apps that have unseen notifications
* touch an icon to see a preview of the app's notifications
* drag an icon to a notification to initiate an interaction with the notification
It may not seem clear how this works, so here is an example of a frequent use case for me:
We frequently binge-watch various Netflix series on TV via a Chromecast, using my phone as the Netflix controller. When credits roll on an episode, I reach for the device and the Moto Display comes on. One of the icons will be a black and white version of the Netflix icon. I touch the icon, and a Netflix play-control appears at the top of the screen. I drag the Netflix icon to the forward-arrow ("next episode") on the Netflix control. The next episode instantly queues and begins to play on the TV. I move my hand away from the phone and its screen returns to the off state.
This whole process takes about 3 seconds, and is accomplished in a single smooth motion from start to finish. The first time I did it, I instantly appreciated how well thought out this particular user interface design was.
Another way in which the Moto feature excels is that third party app support is pretty much indistinguishable from first party apps, unlike Samsung, where some of the AOD and Edge features are limited to Samsung and affiliate apps.
I really hope Samsung doesn't rest on their laurels here, and continues to improve the Touchwiz AOD experience. They have a long way to go to match their competitor's similar feature, in my opinion.

You guys are expecting to interact with a feature that was solely meant to show the time and notifications... If you want to change music, turn the damn devices on.

I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for a more robust implementation at some point. If people go online and post about what they like and don't like, hopefully it is helpful for manufacturers and developers to gauge the demand for things they may be working on or thinking about developing in the future.
And I'm not at all sure I share your opinion about what Samsung intends as the ultimate boundaries and limitations of their always on display feature. Maybe they just ran out of time and had to settle for something less than they would eventually like to offer.

It's a very logical idea to use ways on for this (with the option to disable it)
Suprised it's not implemented.
Any news?
It could be very useful to change music while driving.
Or is there maybe something like the OPO swiping gestures?
A long press on volume buttons with screen locked to skip or back tracks would help a lot, there's one xposed module to do this but I don't want to root..

I tried a xposed module and it doesnt worked with spotify, only with the music player.
Also the default musicplayer shows up when playing a song and waking up the phone, not like spotify where u directly see the lockscreen. Is there at least a way to make this possible for spotify?

Try XTouchwiz or Physical Button Music Control.
The first should work in theory if you freeze stock music app, and the second used to allow (it's been a couple months since I used it) to select which app would the "next/prev" action be directed to.

I know it's not the best nor ideal, but since I'm stock I'm currently using Samsung Music player and the latest update offered a new feature when not fully unlocking the device but just waking it up shows a full screen cover art with tags and the option to either Skip tracks and Play/pause, not much but better than unlocking the phone whilst driving lol.

When i was at the Samsung Note 7 Launch in NYC ? they told me the Note 7 international version had this and other cool things but the USA version could not because of infringement reasons. I wonder if anyone figured out how to put it in the USA version and the S7E.
note 7 has that option with samsung music, along with a much usefull AOD so i guess we will eventually get it as well once nougat arrives.
You can control any music player from AOD

My friend discovered this option.
you need to double tap.
this video posted by him shows the way
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUpIitwYzlc
Please like the video if you find it helpful:angel:
^^^ You are on Nougat though. Many people aren't, and without Nougat and the updated AOD, you can't control the music player from the AOD screen. It is actually a Grace UI AOD thing, but Grace UI is not on the S7E unless you have Nougat of course. My N7 has Grace UI and it has the much better AOD options you just showed.
Using the device almost a year and never heard of it before. I wonder what else I haven't explored yet

Just being able to play the next track would be and awesome feature in aod

I'm thinking there are multiple posts with this question.
I use Finger Security and am very happy with it.
Yup that's the best one
Hi everyone,
i have a note 4 sm-n910c and i cannot login in paypal with fingerprint.
in the app there is not the option and if i follow the standard way(fingerprint->pay with paypal) in the note4 setup...the app crash.
anyone have the same issue?:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
let me know
thanks
I don't think it is possible to do that with the Note 4. As it uses a older swipe fingerprint scanner, which isn't support by most banking systems

I am not sure. Probably not as most ebanking systems are probably programmed to work with the standard touch fingerprint scanners rather than the old fashion swipe scanners. That is used on the Note 4.

I could not get it to work and looks like in all MIUI roms it's crippled. There is a Bluetooth unlock in lockscreen menu but it's only available with whitelisted Xiaomi gear it seams. Kinda confirmed on other MIUI forums basically they replaced it with their version and only for their devices. The prompt shows only the first time you pair a new device and you can add it but it does nothing and no way to get back in. I tried to trigger all activities from google service framework but could not get back in, only with new BT device will and i ran out of devices to try. No location trigger works

Ok, installed, granted root access, defined my home as trusted place
Locked the screen - it still asks me for pin, cannot unlock without
(I know how to use it, it works perfectly for me on Huawei Mate 9 but here cannot get it to skip entering my pin when I am at home and want to unlock the screen)
QFJEUXM 11.0.5
What else to set up or how to make it working?
Do you really have Xiaomi Mi 9T with stock ROM (and which) and did you really make Smart (un)lock to work for your (home) place, and how?

Unfortunately, true. I was surprised when
@Tizio.Qualunque claimed a 'solution'?!
I've seen many threads for Mi 9T and other Xiaomi phones but never seen anybody claiming that he/she set it up to to really unlock without a pin (or how to do it).
Btw, before I installed this Smart Lock app as he suggested, I got pop-ups by Google Smart lock several time, asking me if I want to set up my (home) location for smart (un)locking (now, during Corona I'm almost all the time at home and unlock the phone by pin tens of time during the day, because unfortunately FOD is very unreliable). So I always confirmed that I want, but still it never worked for unlocking
I can only hope that Xiaomi maybe fix it for MIUI 12, but frankly I don't believe.

Yes. A huge minus.
Use face unlock. Use Mi band or some kind of Mi watch (bluetooth unlock is limited to only one device... ). It's stuipid - I know. But this is only think you may do if you want your phone to be unloceked when you are near.
Eventually you may try Tasker.
I've been dealing with this since miui 6.
As others have said, MIUI has removed all access to smart lock. The only reason you get the notification is because it's served by Google Play services. They can't touch it.
Even if you access the menu by root, it still won't work because MIUI uses its own lock screen, not the stock lockscreen.
They keep kneecapping the Android features, and later introduce them as "new". The only people who actually like MIUI are people who've never used stock Android
More examples from my experience in MIUI 6 :
1. They didn't have face unlock or bluetooth unlock. But Android had it since the previous 2 versions. They added it in the next MIUI as a flagship feature. And it's still bad. It unlocked for my brother's face.
2. Split screen. One generation late.
3. Picture in picture mode. Dunno if it's available even now

As a user come from nexus and Xperia (like pure android with sony exclusive options) devices, miui only have eye catching ui and lots of bloat ware!
User experience (UX) is so bad. You can't find some options easy (for old and pro android user since 2010, i search in settings menu to find some features! How new android user can use miui i don't know!!!)
select widget so hard, no app drawer, lots of bugs, lags (frame drop) anywhere. MIUI good for peoples come from iOS to android. (Animation, Animation, Animation. Not smooth ux, not easy to use ROM)
I bye Xiaomi phone for good hardware and great price.
Don't forget we are in android. For any feature we can find a nice third-party app.
I flash Pixel Experience Plus...
If google not make ugly pixel, and sport it with high end hardware and good price (Nexus Phone!?) , i never bye any mi or galaxy phone! OnePlus can be an option for professional android user too, but not find easy in my country.

Not fixed in MIUI 12 / Android 10.
Makes it impossible to do hands-free calling in the car., since you can't make calls anymore with the screen locked.
Only ways I can see around it is:
1. Keep your phone unlocked,
2. Have face unlock set and place your phone where it can "see you" at all times.
3. Get a cheap Mi band or some other MI product, add it as a trusted device, and keep it charged in your car.
This is utter nonsense from Xiaomi.
With MIUI 12, Android 10 and by using Root Smart Lock app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rachel030219.smartlocklauncher
I can setup my trusted place and it remembers, but still it doesn't keep the phone unlocked at my home (I must use the fingerprint or pin)
I was thinking if some permissions are missing
I tried it on MI11 with MIUI 12.5 and with the app mentioned, but still not working :-(
