first oneplus device: things to test - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am getting a Oneplus 5 today and everytime I get a new device there are certain common issues with the device I write down like....testing the gyro accuracy, pixel/screen issues and stuff.
Are there special characteristics with the OP5 I should look at? Asking so directly because of (only) 15 days return policy.
Thanks

[IMPORTANT NOTICE] Ultratablet issues/bugs reporting & future updates

Hello Ultratablet users,
First, thanks for your continued support. If you are an Ultratablet user that has felt disappointed in your experience in any way, and would like to help us allocate our resources to be put to work efficiently, please read on.
With all of our products, we've consistently taken the approach of getting them in the hands of the users first, and then collecting as much feedback as possible so that we can improve upon the experience quickly and early in the life of the product. We are at our core, a software company first. That's why you would have experienced a lot of updates early when we first started shipping Ultratablets in the middle of 2015.
The earliest updates fixed critical issues that affected the majority of users. Later, the updates addressed certain types of usage issues including video playback, widely used apps issues, etc. At that point in time, we also had support from the design house for the board.
We're at a point now where much of the issues we see our users reporting to be related to platform or firmware issues. Solutions for these types of issues need the design house that designed and manufactured the board in the Ultratablet to be involved. However, their support have now basically slowed to almost a stop because they generally move on from old business to focus on new business. This is an unfortunate, but business driven and standardized way of operations in our industry.
Thus, what we can still do today is deal with software related issues that we can resolve. For platform or firmware related issues, we have almost reached a proverbial ceiling. I write this so to be transparent and honest.
Moving forward, here are two ways we can collect information about the current issues affecting your Ultratablet experience and how we can still provide updates and support. Knowing what the current issues are is the first step to allocating resources to fix these issues.
1. Fill out the following form and please provide us as much detail as possible:
http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
2. Provide details of your issue in detail here in this thread. Please include:
Remix OS version (Found in 'Settings > About tablet')
Serial number (Found in 'Settings > About tablet')
Detailed explanation of issue including affected app(s), opened apps. A screenshot or a video of the issue goes a long way. These details help us attempt to reproduce the issue in-house so we can troubleshoot them here.
After a week or so, I will collect all the issues reported in the form and here, and I'll work with the product manager to work on an update that fixes what we can.
Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.
With all due respect, I would take the lack of responses you are sure to get to be indication of how most of us feel. While I get that we were supporting a Kickstarter campaign, I didn't quite expect to be left behind so quickly, hardware or not. It didn't take very long at all for new devices to come up, with new and better updates that NEVER would come to the first launch your company made.
I do get what the lack of responses may allude to. Since the Ultratablet Kickstarter campaign, we have issued around 30 updates and migrated the Ultratablet from to Remix OS 1.0 (based on Android 4.4) to Remix OS 1.5 (based on Android 5.0) to Remix OS 2.0 (based on Android 5.1). I also acknowledge that updates have been fewer and fewer for the past few months, especially since the Tegra 4 chip doesn't support Marshmallow.
I have thus far gotten one private message with a list of detailed issues the user is facing with the Ultratablet. With that list as our only compass, I'm working with the product manager to see what we can fix. If you could also share a list of the issues you face as well, we'd have more information to work on.
As far as new and better goes, are you reffering more to upgrades to Remix OS 3.0, which Ultratablet's chip doesn't support, or are you referring to specific features? If there are features from other versions of Remix OS that you feel would fit well on Ultratablet, we'd be happy to incorporate them.
Finally, I do apologize on behalf of all of us here if the Ultratable community feels "left behind". We do know that our earliest users put us on the map in the first place. We also have to first survive as a startup or else, we wouldn't even be chatting this moment.
Please leave us as detailed notes on your issues as possible. We're still commited on fixing the issues we can. Thanks.

I posted this question sometime ago in the forum, did not get any respond from Remix.
I would like to know if Remix engineers will be releasing a kernel patch to fix the CVE-2016-5195 linux bug?
I'm usually the guy manning our XDA forums and it's much easier and faster for me to respond if you @me. I'll find an engineer tomorrow to talk to about this and I'll give you some feedback. Just to be sure, is this related to the Ultratablet or to Remix OS for PC? I see Linux, and I'm thinking the latter...

It is related to ALL OS's based on the Linux kernel, Android, Ubuntu, RedHat, Debian, etc.
For me the biggest problem is audio stuttering while screen is off. I have filled out a form as OP requested but I got answer that it is already fixed. Not for me, I am on the latest version and the problem is there. I did fastboot Remix OS image restoration and via OTA went to the latest. I would like to hear you loud if audio stuttering exist for you or I am the only one.

Yes I also get stuttering sometimes when I use Xiialive in it is in the background.
I just confirmed with the product manager that the November 1st and November 6th Android security patch issued by Google will be included in the next update for all of our Remix OS products including Ultratablet. Thanks for the assistance!

Thanks for sharing this along with the app that is having this issue.
@Marcink00 - Can you also help by indicating the app(s) that are creating this issue for you?
@Marcink00 @heavyt - Can I assume that you guys are all on the latest version of Remix OS on your Ultratablets?
Thanks again.

@RemixOS_Jason Yes I am on the lastest version. Aplications which trigger this issue are streaming apps, for me mainly Spotify and Soundcloud. My suspicion is when a screen goes off the tablet limits wifi data and because of it a stuttering appears.
@RemixOS_Jason Yes I am on the lastest version.
@RemixOS_Jason while we are having your attention here I would like to ask about one small enhancement. I am not aware if Remix OS 3.0 has it or not but a feature which I miss very much is expanding notification. In 2.0 we are not able to do so. Moreover the spotify notification does not have a playback controll at all.

@RemixOS_Jason I have discovered that I can stop the stuttering in audio when the tablet's screen is blank and an audio app is playing by connecting the tablet to a usb charger. So if the audio is suttering while the tablet's screen is sleep, plugging in a charger to the the tablet will stop the stuttering. So it seems the problem is active when the tablet is on battery power. This only works with a usb charger not the magnet charger.
Display Link Presenter & Screen Standby
Resolved since this post, however the request for widgets is still valid.
I am using these two apps along with a Targus USB docking station. This allows me to use an external monitor and it works well. The issue I have is with the Screen Standby. The only way to engage it is to open the play store and then open the app. I believe in normal Android, this app is widget based and for Remix therein lies the problem.
I have attempted to check open in full screen mode and normal mode with no improvement in either case.
Please consider adding widget support for those of us who do have requirements for widgets.
Thank you.
Hey Tom,
I just checked with the product manager and it appears that widget support was taken away from Ultratablet global users while the Chinese ROM kept it. I'm entirely sure why as the person in charge at the time is no longer on the project.
In any case, we'll add it to features that will show up in the next update. The ETA, I suspect for the next update is within a couple of weeks.
Thanks,
Jason

I've just shared your comment with the product manager. For the past week or so, we've been trying to reproduce the issue without success. The closest our Ultratablets come to "stuttering" is that audio (for apps like spotify, soundcloud, etc) will lag for a split second after the Ultratablet goes to sleep. After that, on our Ultratablets, the audio returns and plays normally.

@RemixOS_Jason, I thank you for your quick response. But I am very puzzled that the problem can not be reproduce by your team. Have you tried with the keyboard attached and tablet running on battery only?
A quick solution would be to send the tablet that you have that is working without suttering to me and I will send you my tablet, OK?
I've got lots of complains about this tablet. I upgraded my Remix Mini pledge after raising a question about the Ultratablet's relatively old SOC and potential future support. Of course I was told that there's nothing to worry about and that it's a fully capable SOC that will receive enough future support. The Ultratablet was practically abandoned a mere year after its release, and I don't see the Mini getting any more than "Security and stability" updates, so we basically can forget about new features here.
I barely use my Ultratablet mainly because it's so damn buggy! Not to mention the usual stutter and not-so-fluid interface. I think those are the reasons even you guys stopped using it. If you were using your own tablet for only a few hours a week, I'm sure you'd find enough bugs to fix that'd keep you busy for another year.
And how about backporting new features back to the Ultratablet?
But if you insist only on bugs, let me make a short list for you:
1. It's impossible to simulate a right-click on tablet-mode (without a keyboard). Let's say you want to access the right-click menu of a running application on a taskbar without a keyboard - it's impossible to do.
2. There's a 50% change that the trackpad will miss my double-click action for opening apps.
3. Suddenly closing apps - this one is weird. I opened Chrome a couple of minutes ago, looked away for a second and it was gone. Same goes for other apps. Mostly happens with the Play Store (might be easier to find).
4. Battery life is still BAD. I started writing this post with around 90% , and now I have 71%. This is NOT normal by any means. You look at less than two hours normal usage. My phone got a smaller 3000mah battery and a QHD display and with the same usage PLUS cellular connectivity and Bluetooth on all the time I'd get triple if not more usage time.
5. When minimizing fullscreen apps, you'd get like a second of black screen time before the next app/desktop shows. Seems like a small thing but can sometimes drive you mad!
6. We used to have 5GHz network support on OS 1.5. Now it's gone! Plus, it doesn't pick as many networks as my other devices sitting right next to it.
I can go on all day about my problems with this device, and there are other, more critical bugs that I just can't remember now, since the last time I used this device was like a month ago (and that also lasted no more than an hour).
I'm willing to help provide logs/screen records or whatever necessary to get a better understanding of the issues I brought above.
I'm of course on the latest 2.0.305 version.
Cheers.
I think I can work the exchange out. I'll contact you in private messages so we can initiate the exchange.
As for the usage test, I'm using Spotify to stream music. Then, I set display sleep to 30sec. After it goes to sleep, the playlist continues to play without stuttering. The closest we've come to reproducing your issue is when I'm in SoundCloud, it will pause for half a second when the display goes to sleep. But then, the music picks back up without issue and continue playing.

Regret my decision of buying my first Xiaomi phone – Redmi Note 6 Pro :(

Hi All, I have purchased a Mi phone for the first time ever – the Redmi Note 6 pro. The hardware specs are amazing and so is the quality of the hardware, but the MIUI is just too pathetic.
I was earlier using a Moto G4 plus running on Android Nougat 7. I wonder why anyone has to build a skin above Android, which runs so well!
I feel I have actually been downgraded by switching to Redmi Note 6 instead of getting an upgrade! Basic functions as listed below are missing in MIUI 10 compared to my good old G4 Plus:
1. Does not have a section for frequently called contacts (have to save nos. on speed dial and remember them like old days)
2. Not able to easily block calls – in my G4 plus, I could simply long press the contact and block it, now I have to go to settings and block contact… such a long process
3. Above blocking of contacts is complicated for SMS also unlike my G4 plus
4. There is no cast icon (screen mirroring) in the notification slider – have to go in to settings to do so
5. Not able to set separate ringtones for each app like GMail, my office email, etc (this could be done in MIUI 9 – checked on my friend’s Redmi Note 4)
6. My employer provides me VMWare boxer as the enterprise email client, it vibrates when new email arrives but does not play notification sound. Furthermore, although the app allows changing the ringtone, on trying to do so the phone nothing happens 
7. Notification icons are not appearing on the top left corner of the screen
8. Does not display no internet on wifi, phone just automatically switches to Data – but I cannot keep checking whether my phone is on wifi or data all the time (in G4 plus, it used to indicate no internet on wifi with an exclamation symbol on the wifi icon in the notification bar)
9. Quick charge 3.0 takes 2 hours to charge the phone to 100%. The G4 plus, although with a smaller battery of 3000mAH used to charge in approximately 50 mins, why should 1000mAH more take almost 1 hour more?
10. Vodafone VoLTE is not support on this latest device.
In the last week I have spent hours browsing forums understanding how to fix issues or find alternative ways to work out. I never had to do so for my G4 plus.
I really regret the decision of buying a Xiaomi device and I wish I could go into the past and revert my decision and would have rather brought Nokia 6.1 puls, Moto One power or the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1… wonder why I brought the Redmi note 6 pro…
The forums have so many users who are very helpful and thanks to them I am able to use the phone. But, why should I browse forums for such basic issues after investing so much money in a new phone which was supposed to be an upgrade?
Since I have criticized the phone so much, I would also like to mention the reasons I brought this phone and the advantages of this phone over my G4 plus:
1. Significantly better camera, actually excellent camera
2. Almost full view screen with a good screen size
3. Hardware is good hence the phone is faster
4. Very good battery life
These are all in terms of hardware, I wish the software was robust as well. I can’t even root the phone or use custom roms as my enterprise apps will not work them. So, now I am stuck with this phone hoping that someday updates will resolve the basic issues I need….
keep going on motorola.
waiy for a few days.. maybe stable GSI starts to roll and u can flash custom roms
Well that´s your opinion and I respect it. But you are mentioning issues related to MIUI and not exactly exclusives to this device. I think you should have done a little research on MIUI to know if you´ll like it before.
Also you can wait for the development of custom ROMs with closer experience to pure Android .

Yes I agree with you I have issues with MIUI.... I did check the MIUI 9 on my friends phone before buying this device... MIUI 9 was much better... I feel more frustrated because the enterprise apps provided by my employer do not work on rooted devices and customer ROMs, so I am stuck!

Have you tried Magisk (systemless root) and Magisk hide per app settings?
Quick Charge
Quick Charge 3.0 is working fast for me, try changing the charging with the 12v/1.5A. My redmi note 6 pro charges in less than 1:30hrs.
1. Download and use the Google Phone App (working on my Pocophone, should work on this phone too):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412
2. Download the Google Contacts app from the play store.
3. Use Android Messages
4.-6. Sorry I can't help with these
7. Sadly, you need root to fix this. If you're willing to root, try this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-6-pro/themes/mod-xiaomi-eu-rom-miui-10-t3869257
8. Can't help, sorry.
9. Are you using the included charger? I read that the included charger only supports 10W, not full QC 3.0 speeds. You need to buy a separate QC 3.0 charger if you don't have one.
10. Can't help.
I hope this helps a bit! I had some issues with MIUI on my Pocophone too, but doing the above made the experience great for me, and now I am enjoying MIUI overall!
4- install quick settings app from playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesestito.ntiles
Enable toggles you want inside app.. Then You can find them in more option in quick setting area.

Install a custom ROM like Pixel Experience, but don't root that rom, no problem arise with your enterprise apps. (If you enterprise apps Pixel Experience ROM as a custom ROM, then you can try OxygenOS port, it will definitely won't get detected as a custom ROM)
Install Custom ROM like Havoc OS or Superior OS. Will do the job for sure.. and my phone takes around 1 hour and 35 mins to fully charge from 0 to 100% , don't know what kind of charger you are using. i am using aukey QC 3.0 charger.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your help... I have also been searching for workarounds for quite sometime..
For 1. Did install google phone but sadly that does not display call log dont know for what reason - so I have created contact shortcuts on my home screen
2,3 Did as u suggested thanks again!
4 - no solution
5,6 - have rolled back to MIUI 9.6 wherein there are inbuilt options to set separate ringtones for all apps and my enterprise apps are also playing notifications correctly - alternatively u can also use the app notification manager pro
7. If u use latest MIUI 10, u can see notification icons for few seconds on unlocking ur screen - cant fix this as now I m on MIUI 9.6
8. will work only if u scroll down notification bar (not a good option though) - does show the exclamation mark when wifi is not working
9. I have a QC 3.0 charger which takes 2 hrs to fully charge the phone fully... cant do anything about this
10. VoLTE is now working - i also raised a complaint with vodafone to sort this out
I have realised that MIUI 9,6 was much stabler and rolled back to it... so the phone is much better now compared to MIUI 10

Introduction, Thanks, and a Question: Can Patched LGUP Make Backup of Stock h910

Good morning from Upstate New York, USA.
First, thank you to all the members who have posted such excellent information here. If time spent on this site were worth university credits, I think I would have earned a degree this past week or two. My name is Richard and I'm a semi-retired IT guy who still does some Web development (not so much apps as general Web stuff). I'm amazed at the breadth and depth of knowledge on this site.
The abridged version of why I wound up here is that I have two LG V20 h910 phones. One was still in the box until two weeks ago. I decided to put it into service as a car unit, mainly to run GPS-dependent navigation and mapping apps, because the GPS radio in my main phone is getting tired. It still works, but the signal strength is borderline.
My main phone also has a lot of other apps that I need, some of which require location services, but none of which require an especially strong or consistent signal. So rather than wipe that and move everything to the spare phone, I decided to put the spare into service for car-related stuff. Besides, having another phone number for very limited distribution will come in handy since my "main" number is starting to get too many blasted robocalls.
Because the navigation apps I use don't require Google Play Services, I decided to try rooting the spare phone and trying out more lightweight custom ROMs. That became quite an adventure, albeit a very educational one. I installed about half a dozen ROMs (not including cross-flashing to get root back), thought I bricked the phone about as many times, and in the end wound up with stock Oreo (no root). I'm going to test that today to see how well it navigates. If it works well, I may leave it that way.
If not, then I'll reinstall the unofficial LineageOS 17 beta, which came closest to meeting my needs for this device. It had everything I needed except the ability to route the sound to the car radio via BT using any way that I'm aware of. Other than that, it ran the GPS-dependent apps splendidly. I'm following the progress of that project and may try it again if that deficit is fixed (or if I feel like trying to fix it myself).
Which brings me to the question:
Can Patched LGUP Make a Usable Backup of an AT&T h910?
It's a real drag to have to downgrade / crossflash and re-root to re-flash stock. I know ATT doesn't release .kdz files, but can LGUP DUMP make usable backups of a stock AT&T system that can be easily restored? If so, how would I do that?
As I said, I really don't need root on this device, assuming it does what I need it to do (basically run my navigation and mapping apps). I'm going to test that today, which is an excellent day for that because it's cloudy outside. But if it doesn't, then probably I'll be trying LOS 17 again. It would be nice to have an easier way back to stock than crossflashing, downgrading, re-rooting, and re-flashing.
Thanks again,
Richard

The short answer is no ...the LGUP is not easily restored
The best way I found was to leave the patched aboot and TWRP on the phone and use the 20H rooted rom along with MK2000 kernel (Newest)
and reinstall TWRP (It gets wiped with the 20H rom)
their is a H910_20g_Oreo_full_stock_Tested.zip if you really want to restore the phone to full stock and take the OTA to 20H

Thank you. That's actually the image I used in the end. If stock Oreo works best for what I need this particular device to do, then I'm okay with using stock Oreo, uninstalling the crapware that I can, and disabling what I can't.
I can also attest that that image worked flawlessly.
Richard
I should also mention that this whole adventure has given me even more respect for the V20. It's practically impossible to brick. No matter how badly I hosed it, there was always a way back.

The "spare" h910 passed its navigation tests with flying colors. I took it for a two-and-a-half hour drive to Micro Center, and my favorite nav app (Magic Earth) performed flawlessly there and back. The only hiccup was on a small stretch of road where half the birds suddenly disappear from the sky due to the topography (the road was cut through rock). It confuses all GPS-based systems.
So that's my new navigation device. I'm also going to route my work number to it since I'm paying for the service anyway. I took the lowest-level AT&T prepaid plan with data. It's only 1 GB with one-month rollover, but I use very little. It will mainly be for traffic data for the navigation apps.
One thing I noticed was that the "car phone" was much cooler than the h910 I had been using before, even after navigating for two and a half hours. So I decided to retire the other h910 I'd been using as my "main" phone, but leave it configured as a hot spare.
I picked up a XIAOMI Mi Mix 3 at Micro Center for USD $379.98, which I think is a steal hardware-wise. I'll use that as my main and personal phone, and the h910 I put into service two weeks ago as my car and business phone. That's assuming I like the XIAOMI, of course. I'll see if there's someplace I can talk about my initial impressions of that phone.

I currently have a Xiaomi Poco F1 that I play with from time to time. only real problem with it is no network bands for Tmobile (Mint Sim)
I get a good strong signal on band 5 on AT&T so it fine for me.
I also had a Mi Mix 2s that seemed pretty solid. But it was Stolen and never recovered after just a month of use.
Anyway, Enjoy your new phone and Happy new year

Thank you, and Happy New Year to you, as well.
I forgot to update this thread, but sadly, I returned the Xiaomi the day after I bought it. Just when I actually thought I might get to like (or at least live with) MIUI, I made an actual phone call; and the sound quality was so horribly bad that I knew it was something I would not be able to live with.
I searched around for answers, and found something on Xiaomi's site about sometimes needing to reset the phone after doing the update that had been installed OTA after I bought the phone, so I tried that. But when it rebooted, it wouldn't accept my password. Neither would their Web site; and three password reset requests went unanswered. Then I tried by phone number, and it said the account didn't exist.
I packed up the phone, put the SIM in the V20 with the tired GPS, and also installed a new spare battery in that phone. I'd had the battery for a while but hadn't installed it because the battery life on the V20 was okay. But since I had the phone out of the case anyway, I installed it and charged it while I was on my way to Micro Center to return the Xiaomi.
My intention had been to buy another phone while I was there; but when I reached for the V20 after I parked the car, I noticed that it was cool. I thought I'd forgotten to plug the charging cable in because it had been running hot. But it was plugged in and fully-charged. So I'm guessing that the old battery was faulty and had been causing the heat issues in the V20. I guess that might have caused the GPS issues, too, although I haven't had time to check.
In any case, the one V20 works acceptably well for everything except navigation and mapping, and the other V20 works fine for navigation and mapping; so I'll just keep them both activated for now while I do more research. I do plan to purchase a newer phone, but I'm no longer in a hurry now that the one V20 is not overheating. It gives me time to do the kind of research I like to do before purchasing electronics.
Thanks again,
Richard

Toppal Service (FF5000)

I have recently purchased three Alps FF5000 units sold under the name of Ossuret AD907032. These seem very capable units and don't seem to suffer many of the problems I see written about here however the seller, despite being called 'Ossuret Factory Store' seems to know very little about them and either can't or won't answer questions sensibly. I have several questions but I'll keep to one per thread for simplicity.
My first one is that these come with Toppal Service installed (the basic version with an offer to upgrade to the professional version) but my question is can this Toppal thing be removed completely without breaking anything else as it is just a nuisance? It just appears from time to time and it can be difficult to get it to go away.
Hi, if bought from Chinese you can expect an underperforming unit specially ALPS one. ALPS FF5000 models have 8227L chipset and are full of bugs. For this firmware of yours installed I don't know but it seems to me that resellers are puting/programing their own firmware versions and then brand them before sale. This makes them totally not user friendly and can't do anything with it not even install a new update on it. They are designed that way so only sellers can provide you with update (probably you'll pay for servicing and updating - like Microsoft is done in past and doing now).
Hi Anton.
I don't know why you make that comment, I already said these seem very capable units and after reading this forum extensively over the last several weeks I note that this particular version does not have all the issues other people have mentioned, for example the bluetooth hands-free phone is excellent contrary to what everyone seems to say. The launcher is fine and totally able to be customized, all functions work. They're advertised as Android 10, the unit itself says Android 11 but as we know it will be 8.1 or 9, I haven't found anything that actually reports it truthfully but who cares what version it is if it works fine?
This seller seems to have software that does have some limitations, but no actual bugs that I've found so far, they just don't know anything about their product and I've learnt more from reading here than they could tell me.

I have ALPS FF5000 device similar to yours and with 8227L chipset like any of ALPS devices.
It has also many bugs that I'm resolving still today after ayear and a half in possesion. Over time device has also misconfiguring problems, due to Chinese messing with ROMs and installing aftermarket softwares on them.
Try to understand that this (my) conclusions are written by my understanding and experimenting with this device.
I have no objections in overall functioning of device, mostly it works fine, but Chinese merchants are making it underperforming and full of bugs.
For comparison, give a Xiaomi device to Americans, to Bill Gates, and he will also change overall design of device to his needs and install whatever he thinks is good for device and re-sell it, ignoring the bugs and problems in process.
I also learned a lot from my device and from forum posts here. All best solutions for various devices are written here on XDA forum. I thank them for that!
If this forum wouldn't exist you and me wouldn't be able to tweek or change anything on these devices. Just send them back to sellers to servicing. Period.
OK I understand where you're coming from, but my needs are simple and this particular seller's version seems to be very satisfactory.
Could we please look at an answer for my actual question? I assume that some of you software experts are familiar with Toppal Service (voice activation software) as it seems to be installed on several sellers' units, sometimes under a different name, I want to know if there is a way to uninstall it completely without causing other problems.
If I understood correctly what you are asking to do, you can just simply enable/disable Toppal service in apps section of infotainment.
First press FORCE STOP and then DISABLE/ENABLE APP, remove any CACHE of app in process (down in section storage). - this is for units that has preinstalled apps , you can't uninstall preinstalled apps, just disable them.
With rooting of device you can be able to remove it but rooting is serious problem for some devices and can make units to be dead/unbrickable/unrecoverable. Rooting device is good but if not done properly you will loose your device or make it unusuable.
Yes I was really meaning total removal rather than just stop. I suspect it would do more harm than good so I'll leave it alone and hope it doesn't prove too much of an annoyance, it's just one of many things that automatically load at startup which drag out the start time but won't ever be used.
The original Japanese nav unit was fully operational within about 10 seconds of power-up, this thing with its spinning wheels needs over a minute by which time you're already a couple of blocks away from home.

You can always update or change your ffirmware version.
Some firmwares from XTRONS units and JUNSUN units that has similar 8227L chipsets work fine for ALPS device. You can try to install that alternatives in order to get rid of this service.
XTRONS UI is different and has its own set of preinstalled apps and JUNSUN also too.
Find best software match in https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...head-units-help-with-firmware.4167669/page-11
Scroll thru pages in that thread, there are all 8227L based firmwares (some with images of UI - interfaces with icons of apps).

Samsung tap lag

Hey every one! So I have a question that I havn't been able to find an answer too. This pertains to at least the two samsung devices that I have. One is the tab 8 sm-t290 and the other is the xcover pro that walmart started giving their employees. So the issue is a delay or lag in the screen tap after the devices come out of the lock screen or after they have sat there for a moment. It's like you wake it up and start taping and a couple of seconds later it will start registering all the taps or in game, I stop for a minute to read dialog and I have to tap couple times to get it going. At first I thought it was just because of the lower grade tablet but then I got the xcover pro from walmart (sposively a $500 phone a year ago) and it has the same issue.
So I assume this is by design? Is there a fix for it or a setting that I'm missing to make it snappier? The only thing I found that helped was after rooting the tablet I played with the governor and set the cpu frequency to max using termux. I installed a version of linage os that didnt have gapps installed and it was lightning fast, but when I installed one with gapps on it, I believe the issue was creeping back but I can't verify that at the moment. This is mostly just annoying and has caused me to quit using the devices in favor of more predictible ones. Any help would be appreciated!
