[Q] Elocity A7 Connection Problems

Just opened my new Elocity A7 today and I can't seem to get an internet connection.
I'm trying to connect to a Belkin Wireless Router. My Windows Laptop and Xbox 360 have no problems with the router. It's using WPA2 / PSK for encryption and the SSID is not hidden.
The A7 is able to detect my network and even goes so far to let me input the key. When I view available networks I see: "Network XYZ - Remembered"
Obviously the A7 is retaining the key, but everytime I hit connect it just sits there and I never get an internet connection.
Thoughts?
So it appears that I'm having connection issues with other Wifi Networks as well. My laptop can snag an unsecured connection from the coffee shop around the corner, but while the A7 detects it, it doesn't connect just like with my wifi.
Do I need a firmware update? Have I missed some settings or config?
I've downloaded and installed the latest firmware update - and surprise! Still no Wifi connectivity. I've been assured by Elocity customer support that this firmware update should have fixed the issue.
I'll be trying a factory restore and re-loading the update once more, and then I'll be shipping this tablet back. Without internet access it's just a giant iPod.

Shield TV and ethernet problem

Hi. I'm trying to cast from the cell to the Shield. YouTube is perfect, but the rest only goes if the Shield is connected to the network over WiFi. So it is connected to ethernet although it detects it, it does not work. Is it a problem with my router or does it happen to more people?
Thank you.
Have you checked whether your router is setup for DHCP and your connection setup on the Shield is doing the same ?

2017 8 & 10 Won't Connect to Xfinity Router

I've done a search both within this forum and Google in general, and can't seem to find an answer, I'm hoping someone here has run into this...
My 2017 HD 8 and 10 both work on every wifi I've tried EXCEPT for my Xfinity supplied router. Every other device I own works just fine with the Xfinity router. The Fire devices show "connected," but I'm seeing the "!" next to the wifi icon and no signs of an actual connection within the system or apps. I've tried the most common suggestions in semi-related threads on other sites ("forget" the network and reconnect, restart device/router, etc.), I've tried connecting via WPS as opposed to standard password, and no change in status.
The router is set to WPAWPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES).
I am able to connect both devices at home via a Netgear router I have LAN'd to the Xfinity router. I'd like to have them connect to the Xfinity router due to other devices on that specific wireless network and signal in different parts of the house.
Any help from other Xfinity users (or network experts) is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chromecast not finding shield when on LAN

Hi,
I have the following problem:
My LAN has a router and two APs, the router is a fritz box (IP 192.168.178.1), the APs are a Netgear R6400 v2 running dd-wrt (IP 192.168.178.2) and an older TP-Link on dd-wrt (IP 192.167.178.3).
From my cell (Xiaomi mi 9) I can stream via chromecast thje Shield as long as the Shield is only connected by WLAN to my AP. It doesn't matter to which of my APs my cell is connected, it doesn't need to be the same AP as the one to which the shield is connected.
Once I turn on LAN on the Shield (which then connects to the router), chromecast on the cell doesn't see the Shield anymore.
When connected to the LAN, the shield has IP 192.168.178.53, and my cell has IP 192.168.178.70.
From the computer on which I am typing this post, I can ping all of these 4 devices.
Btw, there is another device, a Panasonic reciever, connected to the LAN, and I can access it from my cell, so I assume that the problem actually comes from the Shield.
Any ideas how I can fix this, making chromecast work even when the Shield is connected by LAN?
This is strange now, I have deactivated the chromecast app (apps/system apps), cleared cache and data, activated it again and restarted the Shield - and now it is working again.

VPN settings in stock android vs shield android

how different is android tv / shield os from a stock android os? I'm having trouble getting my shield setup using an L2TP vpn connection so it can hit my local network without needing to expose plex to the internet but doesn't seem like that's a setting that's supported on android tv / shield?
Is there a way that I can install the service via command line so I can the standard android vpn settings? My vpn functions how i want on my pixel and tab just trying to figure out shield. I didn't want to have to spin up a different type of remote access vpn so figured id ask around multiple places before taking that route
