Title. I was able to flash a right zip, but it said that "this device has been flashed with unauthorized software." I am using TMB.
No. Dont even try unless you somehow unlocked your bootloader
My attempts to flash the zip as spoken in the description happened quite a few days ago, and I ended up restoring. Thank you very much!
There is no zip to flash when flashing TWRP. You flash the .tar file through Odin

Just got a Galaxy S4 i9505 rotted it with Kingo Root, installed rashr went to flash something and it installed a recovery and now I get Recovery is not seandroid enforcing, but researched it up and used odin to get past that, but now everytime i try to get into recovery I get that error again.
How can I reflash a recovery that works? I have tried re-rooting again but nothing.
Now it just doenst seem to start just shows the Samgung logo and does nothing.
What exactly are you saying? That you can't boot into recovery?
Rooting has nothing to do with a recovery.
Install TWRP recovery with Odin.
You could also try flashing a bootloader or the stock rom again to make your phone boot. And root properly with CF Auto Root
I meant it like the root program I used that installed the original recovery, I have tried TWRP with odin but it says it is done but still wont boot or go into recovery
How owuld I flash the stock rom?
Was meant to click edit not double post sorry
You have to untick "Auto reboot" in odin. After twrp flashed turn off the phone and use the key combination to boot into recovery.
I think i flashed an older version of twrp cant find a link to a jar for 5.0.1
Ok i managed to get twrp working, but it still alwayss just shows the Samsung logo
Just to clarify one thing here for the audience, "Recovery is not SEAndroid Enforcing" is not an error. All custom recovery images are set to permissive mode to enable them to perform their magic. Since this is a hole in the device's security, the bootloader displays that message to let you know this. A similar message is displayed when a custom kernel is installed, except in that case the message is "Kernel is not SEAndroid Enforcing". Since this is an expected message, the only way to properly get rid of it is to not install a custom recovery or, in the case of the kernel warning, a custom kernel.
@Apexpredator12, with your S4 in its current state, you should flash your stock ROM via Odin and make sure your device is totally operational. After that, use Odin to install CF-Autoroot. DO NOT USE KINGOROOT! With CF-Autoroot you will have your S4 rooted. From there, if you wish you can install a custom recovery, though with the caveat that installing a custom recovery will result in a "Kernel is not SEAndroid Enforcing" message. As mentioned above, this is a normal message and not an error.
Ok thank you, where can I get a stock rom for the i505 only seeing custom ones
I am just so foncused I am used to the SP that was quite easy to do, the version I have is 5.0.1 the stocks I have found are 4.4 etc and just not sure what ones to use without bricking my phone again
If you have a 5.0.1 stock ROM, you can use that. If you really need earlier ROMs, you can get them from samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com.
Yeah I was looking but they seem to be .img files which I cant seem to flash with odin
sammobile.com packages the .tar.md5 files in a zip. I don't know about samsung-updates.com, but its img files should be installable via Odin.
Currently sammobile.com is having server issues, but there should be a thread on XDA where you can also download ROMs.

You are extracting to much. You can't flash .img with Odin as far as I know. You need to flash the archive in which the .img is packed.

EDIT: managed to fix the twrp thanks allot for your help much appreciated.
Long story short for my Samsung Galaxy A3 SM-310F:
1. Installed TWRP recovery
2. Rooted my phone
** phone worked perfectly **
3. After a while the phone didn't charge when it was or got recognized by Odin (first it would charge when I first rebooted it)
4. Wanted to upgrade from Android 5 to 6 so I could flash fallen a3angel rom and try fix the charging issue
5. Downloaded original Android 6 firmware
6. Tried to flash it with TWRP did not work**
7. Decided to make the phone stock again
8. Downloaded original Android 5 firmware
9. Tried to flash it with TWRP did not work**
10. Decided to install stock recovery and unroot the phone
11. Extracted recovery.img from the original Android 5 firmware
12. Installed flashify and flashed the original recovery.img
13. Did not saw the message "dm-verity verification failed" in the original recovery
13. Deleted all the data and rebooted the phone
** "Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found" and "Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file". "Error installing zip file". "Failed".
So now I've got a phone that not get recognized by Odin, with the stock recovery with the message "dm-verity verification failed" and no root. None of the options in the recovery menu work except for the reboot function :').
I guess the plus side is that it still boots and works and I can charge it when its off . I suspect that the USB port is broken and I want to return it for warranty. But everywhere the phone says it's been customized and it's not original anymore.
Is there anything left I could try?
You can't flash stock firmware with twrp or any other recovery.
You need ODIN, Heimdall or you can use Flashfire if you have root.
However flashfire cannot flash bootloaders.
You could flash the stock lollipop firmware with FLASHFIRE and then take the OTA to MM.
Unfortunately this means you will lose root and won't be able to reroot. So no custom recovery either unless you use Flashfire to flash the OTA.
I suggest you repair your USB port.
It should be a simple repair as they are usually a separate pcb that can be swapped.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hi guys, to my understanding BL/CP are available in tar or zip formats and may be updated via Odin or Twrp respectively. Appreciate any advice as to differences (if any) between the two methods. TIA
The only difference is that one (.zip) can be flashed via TWRP (this would mean you have a custom rom and a tripped Knox counter). The other (.tar) is signed by Samsung and can be flashed via Odin without tripping Knox.

I reckon this probably means it doesn't matter to flash with twrp or odin if knox is already 0x1.

Correct. I find it easier to flash in TWRP because it's simpler to stay where I am and download the file, reboot to recovery and flash. Rather than going upstairs to my computer, downloading the file, putting phone in Download mode, opening Odin and loading the files, then connecting the phone to the computer then flashing the files.

True that. I only ever return to Odin to flash official firmware in the event of soft bricks with denied access to Twrp, however, was getting confused partly due to written instructions for roms requiring BL/CP to be flashed in download mode. Thanks for clearing this up. Cheers.
my current booloader is version 1...can anybody tell me how can update it to version 4? i am using s7 edge SC02H(snapdragon) japan.
thanks
Looking for the right modem and bootloader files
Hello,
I'm running Nougat on my s7 g930f it's using the tgp rom. In preparation for an oreo upgrade I atempted to flash an odin-zip file I found on LightRom's page, thinking it would give me a modem update. This was an extremely bad idea. Now my system does still boot, but I have no signal at all, my phone number, base band, IMEI, mobile network, etc all show as unknown under settings, about phone and the various status checks. Now when I atempt to go in to odin again to flash another modem update now I'm told that the atempt has failed. I'd appreciate some help. What file do I need to get the bl and the cp file? I'm running twrp 3.2.3, and i'd like my signal back.
Thanks.
Dave.

hey,
Try flashing latest firmware with patched odin
So I have a used S8 G950U ver that I got from a friend of mine, it is unlocked and as far as I know its not locked to any carrier because I am using it in Pakistan.
I will attach the about phone screen in the attachments as well, you can see the version.
I went into Download Mode and the carrier there says TMB but if I search the baseband version (G950USQS5CRF5) on the google, it says its Verizon, so I am confused that which carrier version is my phone exactly. Some sites say that its an unlocked Hong Kong version
I downloaded the T Mobile One UI update from SamMobile, its a zip file.
Can I flash that zip file from recovery through SD card and will it brick or not?
Or should I flash it through ODIN.
Either way, does the carrier matters when updating or not, or does the model have to be the same?
Sorry if its a weird question, I have been kind of indecisive about it for couple of weeks thinking I take the shot and see if it works but decided to ask here beforehand.
First off Odin only flashes tar files and you can't flash zips in recovery only in custom recoveries such as twrp can zips be flashed
