Hi! Im running oos 4.5.8 with ElementalX kernel. The past few days im getting a huge battery drain while idle. (30 % overnight WITH airplane mode). I installed betterbatterystats but I dont really understand what I should be looking for. Could anyone explain what I should be looking for, or maybe take a look at these logs from the app?
(uploading on dropbox because file sizes where too big). Thanks in advance!

It's most likely your WiFi. I'm sure you left WiFi on during airplane mode right? At least that's the culprit for me. The only workaround until Oneplus fixes the WiFi idle drain is to either manually turn off wifi everytime you don't use it or change WiFi Settings of "Keep WiFi on during sleep" from "Always" to Never (or "Only when plugged in" also works).

Ah, okay, interesting.
Did you try deleting cache/wipe dalvik in recovery? It doesn't delete any of your apps or data, only a temporary cache. People here on xda said after updating the OS battery drain sometimes happens, but deleting the cache/dalvik in recovery solved the issue.
Otherwise, you could install Wakelock Detector Lite (not root, because the root application is broken for now) and check what's waking and draining your device exactly. But anyway I'd firstly delete the cache.

Hi
I am too facing the same issue dont know why. Though my SOT is good around 6 to 7 hrs but phone in idle mode draining like hell. I kept my phone wifi on though i can only see it used around 50 mah the whole night. I have oneplus 3T too that is still working amazingly with decrease from 100 to only 94 percent though oneplus 5 decresed from 100 to 75 percent in idle mode with same settings .
I have already deleted cache memory

Don't trust the inbuilt battery stats. Turn WiFi off and see if the phone sleeps/enters doze as it should.
Thanks for auggeations i am ginna try this too but still i am unable to understand the scenerio aa i had my wifi on for oneplua 3T too but still the battery drainage in it was nill.

Mate, I'm no developer but it's understandable that 3T and 5 are different phones, have different hardware and OS. The one for OP5 is just not optimised yet. Reportedly the devs are working on OOS 4.6 that is supposed to address the WiFi drain problem.
@ipredatorv it seems to have worked for me, got only 3 % drain, thanks for the tip

You're welcome. After the upcoming 4.6 update we can try to revert to WiFi always on (because it really shouldn't drain like that), but until then this workaround fixes it.

I have tried to disable everything and even did a hard reset while disabling all unnecessary "functions" that samsung and google adds, but still when using the phone with screen on and just browsing reddit Android OS is above Screen and all other apps. While the phone is off it never hits deep sleep and is usually 90% awake.
I have disabled Samsung Push Service, but haven't seen any improvement. I have disabled Location Services and all the other stuff suggested in other threads with no luck.
I have attached AlarmManager.txt since that's what other people suggest, but I cannot understand how to properly read the file.
If anyone can help me fix this battery drain, it would help me a lot. Thanks.
Try wakelock detector to see which app/process is puling down the battery power.
My phone had the same problem last few days.
However i just format the internal storage & reflash os. I don't really care as i've backed up my apps using TB.
At least it solve mine.
What solved it for me was a complete wipe, flash back to stock then install recovery and custom rom. Not had any issues since. - think it's an anomaly within the OS.

Already did that in the first 30 minutes of googling. I don't want to root because I will lose my warranty. My colleague's Note 3 is a bit older on the same firmware, but has absolutely no battery drain. He's had his phone on for soon 2 days and it still had 30% of battery left. What could this mean? I have disabled everything he has and it still made no difference.
May be this will help.

I did the same. It worked for 45 minutes straight (80% deep sleep, 20% awake), then when I woke the phone up after those 45 minutes to check battery stats and turned the screen off manually again, it stopped deep sleeping right that moment.

My stats after whole night is 3% awake, with 10 hours of deep sleep and 20 minutes wake time.
May be there is an application causing problem. Check with WLD and remove the one with more wake time.

Hi Muhammad, when I use WLD or Betterbattreystats I usually get nlpwakeclock collector or another wakeclock, it never specifies if a certain app is causing it to stay awake.
Any suggestions on what to do to find out?

No solution. After 4 hours idle I only have 65% left and android OS is the biggest culprit above screen on. I'm thinking of trying the beta kitkat rom.
I solved my battery drain by disabling google location access - for some reason google services continued trying to access location and were keeping the device awake, an hour of idle leached away like 5% of battery, which is usually what I get drained in a day. I have still left "power efficient" location to Android - using only wifi, but have disabled location in the google specific settings, then reboot and voila.
Solved for my Note 3 N9005
I tried all the gimmicks on this thread and many else. Even turning everything off (and thus crippling the functionality of the phone) didn't help.
Then I tried a couple of battery saver apps and one of them seems to have done the trick.
Easy Battery Saver.
Now there's no 'keep awake' time in Battery -> Android OS. None.
Hope this helps!

Took me a while to figure it out but for me Sview case is causing big Android OS battery drain on 4.3. It keeps running a w1_bus_master1 process that tops cpu usage and is draining the battery. You can see it if you enable show cpu usage in developer options. I guess its used to detect opening and closing the case but its usage is insane. As soon as i take the case off the process is gone and Android OS stops eating the battery.

Hey guys. First proper charge from around 3% too 100% and I'm getting battery drain already, I thought this issue was resolved in lollipop? Not the mention the emense heat that comes off of this device
Check out the picture and get back to me. Thanks.

Same thing is happening to me... I don't find that the drain is really so bad, as I still get pretty great battery life, but does appear that this issue is still present in lollipop. Seems pretty wide spread among Android users.
I had an iphone for about 5 months. Went back to android and the problem still persists I got 3.5 hours of screen on time yesterday. Take a look at this
Also getting battery drain, the main offender seems to be the "mobile standby" which is always around 50-65% for me.

I think this was an error in reporting in the stock firmware, I haven't had a problem with the battery, in fact it's been really good. Since updating to B132 (GRA-L09) the battery usage seems to be reported correctly.
Interesting, I'm not sure what the normal drain should be then. My HTC One had a pretty good battery life, but it seems with this phone the battery drains quite fast when I'm using Chrome and WhatsApp etc. The power saver reports Chrome uses a max of around 10% but the rest use very little %, yet it seems I'm using around 30-40% of the battery in around half an hour.
Do you think using a custom rom (when they become available) would be any different?
Not sure if a custom rom would help. Are you rooted? If so you should have a look at betterbatterystats which should show you what's using up the battery.
When I'm mostly on wifi I can get 5 hours of screen time with 32+ hours running time.
i have the same problem with the "mobile standby" batery drain
i did a clear data/cache then factory reset, and now it's ok
androyd system still drain batery pretty much
sorry for my bad english

Was going to wait for a few roms to be released before rooting, but the battery life seems so poor I think I'll do it just to find out.
I've had the same Problem with the battery drain and analysed this with the Wakelock Detektor (needs root). Cause was the "NlpWakeLock" thats part of the Google Services. Then I disable the Google Location History everything went well. They are a lot of of useres, who have the same problem. The only real solution (If you want to use the Location history) is a Xposed module for that you need a working Xposed framework.
I have now disabled Google location history, hopefully this fixes the problem for me too.

Its lolipop, i think 6.0 will fix this.
So I have my phone like 4 days now and the first day I immediately noticed that when I turn off the screen it drains battery like hell (60+% in one night). It's like the cpu doesn't go to sleep at all.. Sometimes it works fine and looses like 5% at night that's fine for me but then the next day it will loose 10+ % in one hour by doing nothing...
The phone is pure stock, I changed nothing, no root or anything...
This is really annoying have no idea what it could be that drains so much battery.. Already looked if an app was draining but no...
Someone has the same problem? Or maybe knows how to fix this?
Clear the cache.
In case you don't know.
Turn phone off
Hold Home + Power + Volume Up till you see the Samsung logo, then let go of all buttons.
A menu should load - Navigate using vol keys and select using power button.
I had a similar issue and this fixed it for me.

There is an excellent thread on battery life for note5 which you can use to get tips for edge plus too. Here is the link :
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5/567125-note-5-battery-life-thread.html
Samsung has provided lot of inbuilt apps like Smart Manager which is like Clean Master you get in Play store.
Open Smart Manager ---> Click on Storage --> click on Detail ---> click on Cache data --> click delete to clean cache.
Lot of people downloaded Greeify, shutupp, wave lock detector and doze which actually use battery. After I uninstalled them battery life increased by 45 minutes.

I agree. Most of the apps that promise to increase battery life degrade it further. In fact, this Paranoia of ours with battery life (keep checking every 10 minutes for battery drop) affects it further.
So, I would suggest uninstall all 3rd party apps. And do not track battery life every instant. And still if you think your battery isn't lasting long enough (check On Screen Time/ Active Time at end of day), contact Samsung.
Hello there!
I had the same problem initially. I wasn't sure which app was causing. So i did a factory reset and reconfigured everything. Now all well. So i guess the best thing would be to backup everything do a factory reset. Then carefully monitor the other app you are installing. There are few that draws lot of power for location services. Then disable that S voice wake up command thingy I am guessing it runs all the time which is not so great. Don't go for Greefiy or any apps like that. Those don't do great job unless you have a Xposed running
So I tried clearing the cache but did noting. I had GPS always on I thought maybe if I turn it off but the same changed nothing.. I don't have any "battery Monitoring" or greenify like app.. Sometimes it works fine but othertimes it drains like crazy doing nothing.. I will try factory reset, hope that will fix this..

So it's been a couple weeks now and I managed to get a little bit better battery life, drains 15-20% over night before it drained something like 60 70% but battery life is still poor some guys get 7 to 9h SOT I'm can be happy if I get 4 5h..
I'm running custom rom arter kernel tried everything but nothing really fixes completely my problem.. Start to think I have a faulty phone..
I don't get it. On airplane mode but WiFi connected. Why they heck and I losing so much. My LG g2 would lose maybe 1% overnight.
Update:
Did a test with my wife's z1 compact. She loses 2% overnight, and I'm losing 9-10% overnight. Both our phones are having very deep sleep. I just don't get it.
Update: 7/10/16
I think at this point it is safe to say that this has been resolved. There was an issue with the rooted kernels..and it seems to have been fixed. Check post 159 by dinitro : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67545422&postcount=159 for kernel. Give a thumbs up to his post if this helps you.
Wifi keep awake
Your android phone can either:
- keep wifi connected while sleeping (to receive notifications instantly, keep downloading, etc )
- disconnect wifi while sleeping (to save battery)
Go to Settings -> wifi -> advanced - > Keep wifi on during sleep
If the phone is maintaining an active wifi connection the whole night - that's gonna use power... its impossible that it wouldn't be actively consuming power.
You can go into your data usage settings and start restricting background data on your aps. For example "Shazam" has no business using background data, so disable it, as well as all apps you think don't require it. However don't think this will really solve your problem as the power is being used to keep wifi connected.
Hope that helps
One more thing to check could be your router's advertisement rate. That's the rate it keeps checking with connected devices causing them to wake up every now and then. On some routers this is set much too high. Just Google for your model. Are you having similar problems with other devices in the same network?
Well things like this kinda shows me sony and software are garbage and time i swapped brand again in a couple of months because sony lacking like crazy.
I think I can confirm WiFi is the issue. I haven't had my WiFi on for 30 hours and I have 49 procent left. Never had such battery life on the Z5C untill now.
I also think WIFI is draining more than it should. I will also test mine again, but made similar experience in the past...lost about 10% over night. Also have the compact z3 here. Will make a head to head comparison and post results here.

1% loss overnight is excellent. I lose 5-6% in airplane mode. (MM .185 with AndroPlus v26 kernel, LL .200 with AndroPlus v14 kernel). Shows me that I have some bad config that drains my battery. Right now I'm experimenting with stock kernel. Maybe its AndroPlus that drains battery.
What system config do you have?

So you had mobile network on while it was asleep?
For what it's worth my wife has a z1 compact, and she also keeps it on airplane mode with WiFi on. I don't recall her battery dropping so much overnight percentage wise, and it's a smaller battery. I'll test tonight and report back.

Stock E5823 on 32.1.A.1.185, no root. And yes, the mobile radio was enabled.
I don't have whatsapp or FB installed, but have disabled a bunch of Sony apps as per screenshots.
Alright.
Did the test.
Went to bed for 8 hours.
My wife's Z1 compact dropped from 69% at bedtime to 67% in the morning.
Mine went from 43% to 33%.
So annoyed. WTF!
My guess is, that you have the same problem than I. Meaning the device loses some % of battery in standby, wheter WiFi is on or not.
Did you check airplane mode with WiFi off? And are you on MM? Which kernel?
The previous night I tried LL .200, stock rom, stock kernel, no root. Lost 7-8%, thus being worse than MM+AndroPlus v26 kernel+root (5-6%)
Next experiment is MM 32.1.A.1.185, stock kernel, no root, no apps installed . As stock as possible. I'll report here.

Thanks for continuing the conversation. Yeah these are not good results.
I'm on MM with stock kernel patched with my DRM keys.
I'm now trying Powernap to see if that helps. Greenify+aggressive doze did nothing.
It's ridiculous when you think about it. My wife has almost the same setup, same apps, and she lost 2% which for her battery size is 46 ma. For mine, losing 10% overnight is 270 ma. I mean what the heck is using that much battery while sleeping. It just shouldn't. Especially if the phone is reporting that nothing is keeping it awake. That's what doesn't make sense to me. I could at least accept if there was an app or some process keeping it awake even if I couldn't stop it. But by all indications, I should lose 1-2% at night.
I have not tried airplane mode and wifi off yet. I will try powernap tonight, see how that does, and then if that still doesn't do it, then I'll try pure airplane mode (wifi off as well) on Thursday night.
I'll report back what I find.

Thanks,
What network are you connected to during this time? 2G, 3G/H, 4G/LTE?

4G with about 2 bars of signal.

Same here. Kernel is using 1-2%, even though reports show deep sleep / Doze. See Screenshot.

Alright so Powernap didn't do anything. Still lost 8% overnight in 7.5 hours. I had excluded a bunch of things from Powernap like tasker, whatsapp, hangouts, messaging ect. I'm going to try to only whitelist messaging tonight and see what happens. Maybe it's one of the apps, but I highly doubt it.

Do you have the double tap to wake setting turned off or on?
Hi there. I just have a quick question. I've updated to Nougat a week ago, and right after updating to Nougat performed a Factory Reset. Now I've noticed that I'm draining through my battery faster than I usually did in Marshmallow. Now, I've already wiped cache partition and performed another factory reset and wipe partition and my battery is still draining like crazy. I lose battery constantly even though I leave it on standby and I lose 15-25% when I leave it when I sleep and data nor wifi is on. Help would be very much appreciated.
I only use Greenify for battery saving apps.
Android Os is draining my battery in standby too i have tried literally everything like location off location history off all kinds of connections off but Android OS just cant stop draining battery in standby for some reason . I am ON VNS-L21C185B360.
Hi Guys, do you still have this problem? In my case after 2-3 weeks battery stabilized and now it's around 15-20% better than on MM, and I'm not using any battery saving plan
EDIT:
To be specific: on MM I had around 4-4.5H of SOT (a lot of LTE, a bit of Wi-FI, mostly Chrome and YT), now I have at least 5h, sometimes 5,5h SOT
You can use a permission manager.
Edit EVERY APP and uncheck "wake up" , "keep awake" and "start at startup"

SOT isnt the issue. If i keep using the phone constantly i get same SOT as on Marshmallow but the issue is battery drain in standby. Android OS keeps the system awake. There is no rogue app either as Wakelocks are shown to be from Kernel (Androd Os) in every wakelock detector app.

Hi! Thanks for the input. So on yoyr first few weeks you had roughly 4 hours SOT? But how about your standby time? Does the battery drain even on Standby?

Standby time is nuts. On MM I only lose roughly 5% overnight if I leave it. But 25% loss is insane. How's yours?

I used to lose 2-3% on Marshmallow. Nougat Standby drain has always been a problem for me. I had the same issue on b336 and now same on B360. I sometimes lost 10% sometimes even more than that in 7-8 hours overnight. Btw Turn Auto Brightness off before sleep. It will improve standby time a bit.

How long have you been on Nougat? I lose no less than 20% over the course of 8 hours and that's on bare minimum: no automatic brightness, no wifi, no data. Tho GPS is on, I don't think that should be the case because marshmallow held charge on standby like a champ (well, at least in comparison to Nougat).

I have switched back and forth between nougat and Marshmallow to test different stuff. Now i have installed Nougat Since i guess 3-4 days. U need to turn off google auto backup data from settings. That Should improve things.

Awesome. Will be trying that. Do let me know if you figure out a fix for this one. Quick question though, how did you get to Nougat? Official update or did you flash or use firmware finder? I used firmware finder and am currently on B361.

I see. And what's eating up most of your consumption? is it natural to find Android OS and Android System at roughly 15-20%?

Android OS is draining the battery by keeping system awake and not letting doze work properly.

Sad. I guess I'll just stick with Greenify's Aggresive Doze while I try to get answers. I'll just figure out a way to enable it. Thanks! Please do let me know in this thread if you get the answers.
Hi, I'd just like to up this thread. Any tips? Unfortunately I've already done a factory reset to no avail. Battery still eats 20% in 5 hours idle. Android OS still eats 30% of the consumption.
