Bluetooth Random Disconnects since upgrade to OxygenOS 4.5.8 - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

This is my 2nd OP and I have been using the same two Plantronics Voyager 5200 UC Headsets and Vehicle BT and Bluetooth has always been flawless. Since upgrading to OxygenOS 4.5.8, my Bluetooth randomly turns off / disconnects.
1) Cleared Cached - no glory
2) Factory Reset - no glory
Any ideas?

Did you ever fix this? I just bought plantronics headphones & have a OP5 & having similar issue

Any solutions?

OxygenOS 9.0.6 and Beta 30, reverted back on 4.5.15 - the same issue.
Tried ArrowOS v9.0 - didn't do the trick.
I've noticed that I having discinnect only outside. If I'm at home or in subway - no issues. Just coming outdoors then issue appears and unable to listen music, if I get phone out of the pocket - seems to be OK, but as soon as I put it back in pocket BT disconnecnt again

More likely a hardware issue. Did you test other bt devices with your op5? How are competing they to your current one?

Having only Mi Band 3 and seems it's okay, but I think it does not require robust connect as TWS earbuds.

Bose QC 35 does not work with OnePlus 5 over Bluetooth. Anyone with similar issues?

I have bose quite comfort 35 and I used to use them with OnePlus one perfectly.
With oneplus 5, they pair correctly and I can play music, but they keep disconnecting intermittently.
They get disconnected on their own, then they get connected again on their own. It is very weird.
Has anyone experienced the same?
I have QC35's and do not have this issue. Try updating the firmware on the headphones maybe? Otherwise, mine has worked since day 1 with my OP5. Good luck.

Same here! No issues. Are you stock or do you have any audio mods like viper, etc.? Also, I believe that the QC35s can only be paired to 2 devices simultaneously. Do you have any other active devices that could be fighting it for connection?

I also own Bose QC35. It worked both on stock and FreedomOS and xXx No Limits + it works great with Viper4Arise. Viper4Arise is a a must actually, since it livens up QC35 to whole another level :good:
I am on stock. No mods whatsoever.
Somehow worked right now. I am unable to reproduce the error.
I think we can close this thread for now
Thanks guys for the help
i have Jaybird X3, no issue so far...

Bluetooth connection dropping with Nougat

I was having problems with Bluetooth dropping while on Marshmellow. After upgrading to Nougat my Bluetooth worked great for a few weeks. In the last week, I am having problems again with dropped Bluetooth connections. The problem is only with my Plantronics headset. I tried the headset with my wife's iPhone and it seemed fine. On my XT1575, after about 5 minutes of use the BT connection suddenly drops.
I have tried the following:
1 Forget and repair the headset
2. Clear cache on the BT apps
3. Booting phone into Safe mode and then pairing with headset
4. Clear cache on the whole phone
None of these changes have solved the problem. I am thinking about going back to an old NANDROID or even trying a factory reset. Before I try either of those extreme changes, I want to ask this knowledgeable community for its advice.
EDIT, Also tried turing off BT scanning location and turning off Media Audio. Still getting disconnects!
thanks,
Have you done a Network Settings Reset?

Yes. I have tried Network Settings reset, at least twice.
Thanks for the suggestion. Any others?

I am going to try a NANDROID restore first.
If that doesnt work than I will do a Full factory reset back to Nougat stock!

You could reload the stock firmware too... it is available now, check the link in my signature.
Still trying to fix my problem where my Plantronics Savi 720 base station loses it connection with it's DECT headset. This only happens when my XT1575 phone is connected to the Savi base via Bluetooth. The headset and base stay connected when I use it with a landline or USB port. The BT connection seems to stay up, but the connection between the base and the headset is dropped. I ordered a new Savi 720 and still had the same problem (will be returning it soon). I tried my existing Savi with my wife's iPhone and did not see the problem.
Late last night I reflashed the whole -22 ROM which seemed to make the problem go away! After a NANDROID restore back to my previous 22 set-up, the problem came back!
After all the testing, the finger is pointing at some app or setting on my XT1575 causing the problem. Although, I still have the problem when I booted into Safe Mode.
I now tried just reflashing BTFM.bin. For my first test, the connection was solid for 15 minutes. It usually drops in less than 10 minutes. This is encouraging. Will report back upon further testing.
Any thoughts or ideas on what could mess up Bluetooth?
Was on a 30 minute call today with no drops from Bluetooth. Looks like reflashing BTFM.bin fixed the problem.
After 2 days of reliable behaviour, the BT connection problem has reappeared. I had two calls get dropped this morning. I reflashed the BTFM.bin file and still had the problem.
Im going to try to have Plantronics review the log file from their headset to see if that shows any information.
Can anyone suggest other options for testing or debugging?
PS: I am considering moving to another phone, like the Pixel XL 1st gen.
I'm assuming you have updated the firmware on the Savi as well and disabled wide-band audio? I had issues with my Plantronics Voyager Pro until I disabled wide-band audio.

Savi firmware is running the latest. Will have to check the setting for wide band audio when I get back home.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I turned off wide-band audio for deskphone and PC audio. I dont see a wide-band audio option for Bluetooth. Problem still persists.
I called Plantronics today. THe customer service rep has a Moto Phone, not a XT1575, and he has the same problem where the headset disconnects from the base. Even though the BT connection stays up. The rep claims that it is a problem the the BT chipset used in Moto phones. I sent him a log file from the Plantronics based. Hopefully, this issue can get escalated with Plantronics engineering.
I read the Nougat .23 has some updates to BT. I wish there was a way to try that. I am running .22. Isnt there anyway to downgrade back to MM so that I can than upgrade to .23? I know Acejavelin said it would brick the phone. Has anyone come up with an downgrade/upgrade workaround from .22 to .23?
Might be time for a Pixel XL 128GB upgrade (1st gen and not the 2).

bluetooth issues after oreo update

Hi,
After updating to oreo (clean flash) i have issues connecting to my car bluetooth (vw tiguan). it keeps disconnecting every 5 sec. randomly (very rare) it works without pb.
i tried changing bluetooth codec (sbc, aptx, aptxhd), or avrcp version (1.4, 1.5, 1.6) the pb still remains
any help? suggestion? or a way to post logs?
With Nougat it never happened
Thanks
Similar issue here. I have a fully clean flash of OOS5.0 (because I douched my storage the first time) and bluetooth seems fine sometimes, and other times it's totally borked. I listened to 2 hours of podcasts without issue, then it just constantly disconnected/reconnected. I tried rebooting, unpairing, changing codecs...same issue. Next day, it's totally fine again.
My seat Leon my 16 discover pro does mostly not connected automatically on Oreo.
Tried cleanflash of oreo, no change.
Back to 7.1.1 everything fine.
My case is similar but slightly different. My car is an old one (Seat leon from 2005) which Bluetooth connection is used only for phone calls. This seems to be working fine.
However I'm using an add-on to connect multimedia through Bluetooth to the radio, and this add-on is not working fine with my Oreo OP5.
So I guess the problem for the other reported issues should be related to the multimedia connection instead of the phone one.
Absolutely
Phone calls are working fine
On my VW Golf VII not connected automatically on Oreo. Works fine before. Clean Install... don´t help.
I must switch BT off and on and then connect to my car.
Oneplus 5 is my first Oneplus. And from beginn problems with BT. After some updates works fine. Now the same after Oreo.
Same here with parrot handsfree. Nougat was OK....
Same here with 2017 Audi A4. Bluetooth do not connect automatically.
Works fine with nougat before.
I use the app 'Bluetooth auto connect' to force OP5 to connect to Audi, when I turn on the screen. (little work around).
The OP3T from my wife (also with oreo) connect fine to my audi.
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A5000 mit Tapatalk
I have switched off 'media audio' in Bluetooth Settings of OP5 and Bluetooth connect without any problem with my Audi. (tested it two times)
Will continue testing.....
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A5000 mit Tapatalk
Switch of Car for <10 minutes and try and also only off for 10 seconds
I also thought this helps, next day not working....
For the last few days it has been working fine in my car (2016 BMW 340i), but in my wife's car (2015 BMW 328i) with the same media interface, it actually CRASHES the entire car's system and iDrive does a full reboot. Never seen that before with any device.
Anyone tried open beta 3 ?
My OP5 connects to the Anker SoundSync handsfree, calls and media are OK just as before, the only thing that have gone with the stable official Oreo update are the bluetooth control buttons.
Any idea would be appreciated

Copy the Bluetooth file from Nougat to the backup from Oreo
Restore Oreo Backup
Thats all.
Attached the Nougat Bluetooth

Poor bluetooth connection

Hi guys. So I've searched about everything I can and can not find a fix for this. At first, my Bluetooth headset wouldn't connect but I've recently fixed that. Now it seems that if I travel more than 2 feet from my phone, the music stops playing. Even if I hold my hand over my phone or put it in my pocket, the music stops and once I take it back out and hold it close to my phone, it works again. Is this a Pie thing or what? I've went to developer options and changed the AVRCP to 1.6 but it doesn't help that much. I love this phone but this is almost a deal breaker for me. Really thinking of returning it and getting a Pixel 2XL if there is no fix. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
Contact Essential support with this. They're aware of the issue but unsure if they can fix it. I don't know if this is new with Pie or not. I didn't get my Bluetooth headphones until late in the Pie beta.

Thanks. I emailed them. Hopefully this is something that can be patched up. How did your headphones do? Any issues? If not, what kind do you have?

I've been using Munitio NINES for like 5 years (they seriously are in awesome condition after all this time and sound amazing). But I've gotten frustrated a couple times not being able to charge while listening or forgetting the dongle at home. So I grabbed Marshall Major II's in June. These are my bluetooth headphones. They don't sound nearly as good as the Munitio's, but wireless is convenient.
So my experience? I was on Android Pie beta when I got them. Day 1 with the bluetooth headphones and on, if the phone is in my hand at waist level or higher, they work fine. Put it in my pocket or step away, it's like it's buffering constantly. Oddly, at home (suburb), the "buffering" is almost non-existent (key work "almost"). But I haven't tried stepping away from my phone with BT on. In the city where I work, it's almost unusable unless I hold my phone. I think it's interference with so much wifi since BT and most WiFi broadcast over 2.4 Ghz.
I changed my default Bluetooth version in the developer options and it seems that pairing goes quicker as well as device pickup. Have you messed with that?

Yeah. I changed it to 1.6, 1.5, 1.4, default, etc... With no luck. You said you have yours set on default? Is it working perfectly? It's not that mine won't connect, it the range. I just do get it. The more I research it, the more I think it's a Pie issue. I've got on some pixel forums and they have the same issue. I'm in touch with the essential support team so maybe they'll tell me they'll have a update out soon to fix this.
Ever since pie my phone's Bluetooth has stuttered in my car, also have issues connecting sometimes. Plus noticed issues with WiFi as well. It didn't do it until pie.
Bluetooth AVRCP Version = 1.6
Bluetooth Audio Codec = Qualcomm Aptx (not the hd one)
Bluetooth Audio Sample Rate = 48k
Bluetooth Bits per Sample = 32/sample
Bluetooth Audio Channel = Stereo
Bluetooth Audio LDAC = Balanced 660/606
Those are the settings I'm using and I never have any issues except my car stereo takes longer then I like to initialize...
Factory reset always does the trick! This phone is weird like that especially after a major update.

Android q beta 5 no wifi and bluetooth

Hello i've downloaded the new beta 5 of Android q. Since this update whenever i'm connected with wifi it tells me no internet connexion i have to be connected through lte. Bluetooth doesn't work aswell whenever i try to listen to music with my earphone the bluetooth crash.
No issues with Beta 5 on mine. You might want to nuke and pave and see if it fixes it.

The wifi issue was actually with my router so it's ok but thé bluetooth is a problem. I saw a Reddit post about it i'm not the only one with this issue. The bluetooth earphone only works when aptx is disabled.
Disable aptx and try
trash for me.

Fastboot flashed the last PIE, then did the adb sideload of Q 5
Everything now works fine
Tested Bluetooth audio with q5 and it works with my pioneer head unit, my HD JBL headphones and my MC Helmet Bluetooth.
