From Sprint s7 Edge to Tmobile back to Sprint - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I successfully flashed my sprint s7 edge to tmobile edition, using stock firmware and the tmobile pit. Well out of spite, sprint relocked my phone after I closed the account and I can no longer use it on my new tmobile service. I get the lovely invalid sim error due to the lock. Am I safe flashing it back to sprint and putting in my original spring sim, and selling it? I had to use a PIT file to change the partition, so if someone can point me to the latest stock firmware with pit file, it would be amazing.
I am also assuming the MSL I had on the phone will no longer be valid?
Is there any legal way of removing the lock. I am not interested in anything shady? Sprint told me that since I am no longer a customer they can't / wont help.

If the phone is all paid for, Sprint can not lock your phone... If you owe on it then yes they can... If it is paid for and they refuse to unlock it, then time to find a good lawyer.

[Q] Galaxy s4 won't activate even with clean esn

So I bought a galaxy s4 for sprint. I called to check the esn meid number sprint said it was clean and also checked it on swappa it also said it was clean. So I bought the phone. When I received it I tried activating it on my account dialing star 2 and talking to a rep. I give them the dec number and they said it can't be activateD???????? They said the " ID number is not compatible with this brand"? But it still has clean esn. The rep said it might of been flashed to use on a different carrier. S I've done research for 24 hours straight to to figure out this problem all I want is the phone activated on my sprint account. I going to talk to a guy about flashing the phone back to sprint, wanted to ask first to save the money maybe. So I've seen some similar post about flashing back but none with the same issue i have. What I've tired is CDMA tool, qpst and dfs but can't get the phone to respond when I click read. I've noticed today that I have the samsung drivers installed but not the Samsung diagnostic drivers, idk if that would make a difference but I'm going to try. Also I've noticed the network under the settings of the phone says samsung instead of sprint. The dec and hex number on the sticker under battery do match the ones under settings. The phone was rooted when I received it I completely put stock rom back on using Odin. But trying qpst and dfs I believe it has to be rooted to read ? Correct me if I'm wrong, so I re rooted the phone but it still didn't work or do anything. Idk what to do anymore any advice would be greatly appreciated I just want to activate this phone on my sprint account
Update: first of all I want to say thank you all for giving me advice on what to do. But I tried every single one and nothing seems to do what I want it to do sprint still says I can't activate it. Now with there stupid choice on just being able to activate the phone online instead of calling in is the stupidest thing sprint can do. They already suck with service. So about the sprint bootup logo I never see it maybe cause its unable to be activated, I don't know I tried putting the stock firmware on it still nothing. I tried calling boost to see if they could flash it back to sprint for me but they said they don't even have the phone in there system it's still sprints phone. Also I want to try to go to a sprint store but since the phone isn't activated on my account, without insurance I don't see what they could do for
It sounds like either a demo device for display purposes only or possibly a flashed esn.
If the esn was flashed it would show in the system as a different device.

Had the same thing happen to me a week ago on a different phone. The Sprint rep started a ticket to have them check on the phone's Dec and hex. They said on a rare occasion there will be an error and it can be fixed if it is truly a Sprint branded phone. Does it boot up with the Sprint logo?
I had this happen with my Optimus G that I got off eBay. I'm pretty sure that it had been flashed to a different carrier, so they couldn't activate it even though the ESN was technically clean. The Sprint phone rep told me that they "opened a ticket" on it, and a few days later I was able to activate it. I have no idea what they did internally to get it to work though.
EDIT: I take that back. It was my Evo 3D, not the Optimus G. I've had too many damn phones

Another possibility is the sim card is missing or from a different phone. Are you getting any signal at all when you power up the phone? If there's no signal then you might have a bad or missing card. From what I've gathered, sims between sprint LTE phones are not interchangeable. The card is matched with that specific phone. Swapping sims between same model phones won't work either. If this is the case then you need to call around to repair centers or corporate stores and repair centers to ask if they have sim cards for galaxy s4. Depends on where you go and who you talk to but it can be free or they can charge you.

No it doesn't boot up with sprint logo but it is a truly branded sprint phone the sticker in the back the prl number
It won't bootup to with the sprint logo until it is activated. If they flashed it to another carrier then that was removed. When you open up a brand new phone on first boot you won't get the Sprint logo until the phone fully boots and activates then it installs the Sprint specific files. What you should do is download the full mf9 tar file and install it with odin to make sure the phone has the correct radio and modem files installed for sprint network, then do the ##72786# entry in the dialer to factory reset the phone and activation status. Then try to activate the phone with Sprint.

what radio files are there???? and how do i find out if it does have the right radio files
I do know that the PRL file is sprints PRL
I also do believe the MRL code is sprints also because ive read that if it was flashed to metro pcs or cricket the MRL code would be 000000

Lol it always boots up with the Sprint logo before activating.
Perfect solution... go to ebay and pay $70ish to get it flashed to prepaid (straight talk) on verizon towers. You have no limitation on mods and flashing roms. However you will lose 4g.

Actually, when brand new out of the box and first boot it will boot with the Samsung logo and during the first turn on the Sprint customization are added like all the sprint bloatware and boot animation. The second boot will then have the sprint boot. So if someone flashed it to a different carrier it wouldn't have the boot animation.

Sprint S4's always come with the boot animation out the box, whether or not its been flashed, when you flash a custom rom that is only when you lose sprints boot animation. Nothing is loaded afterward, All L720's come with sprint firmware, as I337 comes with AT&T firmware and so on and so forth.
You can just pay someone to repair the IMEI and MEID and reload a local Sprint PRL so it can be activated on sprint, I just did one yesterday for someone who had the same issue, $75 and they brought a cracked up galaxy s4 from sprint with a clean ESN as the donor.

Will an S7 Edge (T-Mobile) work on Verizon?

Hello all,
I want to switch to Verizon but I don't have a verizon sim to test my phone, I just got it unlocked through the unlock app. I've also read this post,

but there is no confirmation if he found a solution.
any feed back would help.

Using a Tmobile S7 Edge going to Verizon won't work cause of a few reasons.
1. TMOBILE S7 and S7 edge are not built for CDMA networks that uses certain bands and network. Along with the security of CDMA networks.
2. There is no band 13 on tmobiles S7 and S7 Edge. Even you were to unlock it.
But going from CDMA to GSM most phones work due most of the hardware and software is already built in the phone.

I can confirm this. Yes, your unlocked T-mobile S7/Edge will work with Verizon network if you flash the U firmware. I'm currently using my unlocked T-mobile S7 Edge with the U-firmware on the Verizon network. Voice, text, data work fine. No issues for me.

You can flash the stock Tmobile ROM or the U firmware. The only reason I got a new S7 when I jumped from big red was I had a huge scratch on my screen. I was running the U firmware when I went into tmobile and used the girls sim card from her phone to prove I could do it...

Don't know but I am on T-Mobile and I use alot from Verizon thread no issues so far
OK, so I have a question. I'm also trying to move from t-mobile to Verizon but I'm trying to keep my same phone. My phone is already paid off and i currently running t-mobile's SM-G935U over SM-G935T. But a couple of days ago i asked a friend to let me barrow his verizon sim card to test it out. But received a message saying "Invalid sim Card" "network locked SIM card inserted." Did i messed up something during the installation of the SM-G935U?

You need to UNLOCK your phone. It might be a Tmobile phone and running G935U software...but the sim is still locked to T-Mobile. Here is Tmobile unlock page information. you can request unlock in the T-mobile app or by calling T-Mobile....then it should see the Verizon sim and load up just fine once the phone itself is not locked to T-Mobile only sims. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588
And for anyone else looking at this forum, There is no physical difference in hardware from a SM-G935T phone and a SM-G935U phone. Samsung actually made the hardware the same for all US Variants it is just the software that is different. And not that you would want too but you could load other carriers software on your phone if you wanted too(IE- running Verizon software on a SM-G935T, or ATT or SM-G935U (Stock Samsung Software) The only problem Running SM-G935U is they haven't upgraded the unlocked us phones to 7.0 yet. Where T-Mobile and other carriers already have nougat out.
The SM-G935U software however has all the US and even some Chinese LTE bandwidths enabled, and it also enabled the CDMA bandwidths to be used on the SM-G935 phones...hence why it will work with Verizon, Sprint, and even US Cellular if you can get them to put it on the account.*(I haven't dealt with US Cellular in years and with the new laws on moving phones from carrier to carrier in the US they might not have any issue with Bring your own phone to US Cellular anymore I do not know!)

Had you flash any ROM before via Odin?. If so, you will only need to download the verizon firmware (sammobile.com) and flash those files. if not > Open odin (Attached) load all the files accordingly (AP, BL, CP, CSC) in ODIN> put your phone download mode ( pressing fingerprint button + volume down + power) > connect phone to PC > Once all files are ready in ODIN hit start. You will get the success message and phone will boot.

Exit completely ODIN (make sure you run it as administrator), repeat the process and make sure all files are uploaded (AP takes a long time to upload) make sure to use the CSC file label as HOME_CSC. Try to flash again.

If you are going to use a verizon sim, you will need to have it unlocked. Firmware flash won't sim unlock/lock the phone.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought I was gonna be waiting months. I got it tho. The home csc file wasn't working so I used the other one that reset the phone to stock. It was g935u firmware for tracfone from T-Mobile if that helps anyone in the future.

Great it worked.
I flashed the tracfone rom and everything is working well. I got a software update notification. Should ignore it or is it ok to update?
Bumping the thread...sorry guys. I just jumped ship from Verizon and went to Tmobile today with my S7 Edge along with my wifes S7 Edge. Can I flash her phone with the U firm from TMobile and is the U firmware from tmobile the same U firm that is provided to Verizon? Jist wondering. I've used Odin plenty and understand flash process.

Samsung s7 edge 935T t-mobile phone unlocked but at&t network or sim card issue?

I have an edge that is unlocked by tmobile.. in the app, permanent unlock (tmobile unlock app), it says.. "unlock failed" but below says permanently unlocked, unlock approved.. my understanding is this is a normal message.
When i went to the ATT store to test a sim.. they use their live sim, put it in, try to make a phone call but simply said it didnt work, isnt unlocked, which i dont think is right.. issue is i didnt see what if any error message there was.
Is there some step that the att rep should have done to get this on the att network besides putting it in the phone?
Thanks in advance for any info
edit: appears a special sim is needed, at least according to an online rep.. i was told to have them look up the IMEI with the MyCSP tool in the store to determine which sim.

Sprint Galaxy S8 converted to T-mobile made easy, I think?

So apparently all you need to do to convert your phones firmware from Sprint to T-Mobile is flash the stock BQK5 firmware (acquired directly from Sammobile) using Odin. After unlocking my sprint phone, I flashed this firmware with a T-mobile Sim installed. The phone booted up and upon it showing the home screen, shortly after it said something about it needing to restart and configure what I would assume is the newly installed T-mobile Sim. The phone booted, and all of a sudden instead of seeing the normal sprint boot sequence, I saw a T-mobile one instead. It caught me off guard because on my screen was Juvemex method of converting an S8 to any carrier firmware. I was both relieved and sad that I did not have to use Juvemex guide. Hope this helps anyone trying to convert their phone from Sprint to T-mobile. Obviously I have not tried that with any other carrier so I can only confirm this works on a sprint phone using the Sammobile firmware flashed with Odin. Good luck and let me know if this method works for you, knowledge is power:highfive::highfive::highfive:
How did you sim unlock your phone first?
I went to a 3rd party site and had them remote into my computer and perform the unlock. Unfortunately due to Xda rules I cannot advertise who it was specifically but I can say a general search on eBay does advertise the same type of service. Once that was done I did what I mentioned in the OP and my phone turned into a T-mobile one. It initially booted sprint which was obviously expected, but then it asked to reboot and then viola, T-mobile stock rom since

Verizon's IMEI restrictions for original SM-G935V

I'm trying to get my SM-G935V to work eventually work on Sprint. I already flashed my firmware over to SM-G935U. However, the Sprint IMEI check says it won't work on their network. At a Sprint store, the rep won't even try at a store to test out a Sprint SIM to see if it works. Would a Sprint SIM work in my phone before having my IMEI whitelisted (if that's even possible)?
My second option while waiting was to use Red Pocket. I got a plan, I got a SIM card, but I got "Error! Activation Error We are sorry, but due to the rules set by our underlying carrier, your phone number cannot be activated on our CDMA LTE service."
The third option was trying to change my IMEI which appears still legal to do in the US, but not possible to do on my phone because it won't bring up Engineering Mode with the codes. My thought was it was because my CSC still shows as VZW. I thought G935UOYM9CSC2 was XAA originally but I can't get that to show up.
Any other ideas on getting off Verizon with this phone?
Flash the Unlocked firmware on it. You will have to use a modded Odin, see the appropriate thread for that.
However, it will not change the IMEI. If the phone is currently locked in a contract... there is no way around.
Changing IMEI is illegal and will cause problems.
I had never switched my SIM card from the Verizon network to another one until today. It reboots into recovery and changes the CSC. This is after flashing to SM-G935U firmware. When I was on the VZW CSC the secret codes (USSD codes) wouldn't work. After swapping in an AT&T SIM card, the codes now work. Red Pocket white listed my IMEI no problem. Now if I can get Sprint to do it...
