how is the find 5

just out of curiosity, how is the find 5 for a daily driver? im using the nexus 4 but looking around. any input would be great.
still disappointed about the battery life and performance so far (can be improved of course, as more changes are made to the Cm10.1 code base)
stock ROM is kinda crappy if you've used CM/AOKP/other ROMs
it's a good device hardware wise...
if you don't mind having a little less battery life compared to nexus, then sure....
you'll have the same drawbacks to nexus(non-removable battery, no microSD slot) with a few plus (larger screen / resolution, better camera)
i guess im a light user because i get great battery life for my expectations. im always on WIFI so i guess thats a plus
im currently on cm10.1 and love it.
love when people ask me what kind of phone it is
thanks for the input guys, seems like ill be sticking with my n4 until the next nexus comes.

Find 5 is gorgeous. PW is pretty much right on point. I'm usually a CM/custom ROM guy but I've been liking stock.

I think you should try it
Here is my top 3 pro/cons:
1. Design and quality of build, the feel when you have it in hands.
2. Display, the best on the market IMHO
3. Oppo looks very open and tries to listen users, support here on XDA
1. Camera, poor software implementation on a top CMOS sensor, image suffer on autofocus and stability, bad results on low light.
2. Battery, unusual battery drain on standby.
3. Bad side of been open, they look very unorganised, what is fixed in one ROM gets unfixed in other, what is implemented in chinese version is not on international and viceversa...

I guess the answer that you will get from everyone in this Z2 forum is getting Z2. If you ask the same question in HTC forum then they will suggest you getting M8. At the end of the day it's still your decision. Best way to find out is to go the the local shop of put your hand on the devices and feel it for yourself. Good luck with your purchase.
If You want camera for more than just Instagram (which already ruins photos by itself), Z2 all the way. M8 camera isn't bad, but it is really sub par most of the time compared to their competitors.
But, remember, the good hardware/software is only part of a good photo. The photographer makes the most of it. ?

If you want good camera and outstanding battery life, then the choice is only one among those two - Z2.
You will not be able to check the batch until you open the phone and no one will allow you to do that before you buy and even so, I don't think anyone will exchange just because you want a different batch.
Whatever batch you got, if it works OK just keep it and don't care about this batch talk.
Mine has a bit off centered camera in the shell, front and back one, but it does not affect photos so I do not care.

If you care about the camera then Xperia Z2 is what you should be after as it has a far superior camera and battery life is the best when compared to current flagships.

The Z2 isn't perfect - but if you're looking for a good camera and a long battery life this phone is AMAZING.
Speakers on the M8 are fantastic! A friend of mine has one and I'm loving the speakers on it. though I prefer the design and durability of the Z2. I've dropped my phone a few times and haven't had any problems with the waterproofing or something like that due to the drops.
Well I'd choose the z2 all day. But its your choice.
You mentioned the battery life if that's the case the z2 has an unbelievable battery life I managed to squeeze out 12 hours of On Screen Time the other day which is incredible.
The other point you mentioned the camera. Well according to many htc m8 reviews ive seen the camera is the m8s biggest dissapoitment.
The z2 camera is very impressive though probably not the best cameraphone out there but still impressive.
I think the z2 would suit you and nope i have never had any issues with my z2 i think a lot of them are exaggerated.
I have both and you wont be dissapointed in either. Camera and battery is way better on z2, not to mention waterproof. M8 is nicer to hold and easier to operate with 1 hand, also sound output is wonderfull. Both devices are great, but for me z2 is just better overall package.
I had the m8 and currently have the Z2. They're both great devices but, for what you want, the Z2 is quite a bit better.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 <---- perfectly match your requirements.
I am using Z2 and thinking of buying HAM2 as a backup/tablet-phone.
Cheers,
Doesn't the M8 have problems with SD card read/write access, even when rooted? To me, full SD card access is a must (Damn you Kit Kat, you c*ck blocker!)

Best battery life: Z2 > M8 > GS5
Performance: M8 > Z2 > GS5
Camera: Z2 = GS5 (GS5 is better in daylight and Z2 better in indoors and low light) > M8
I first got a GS5 and I quite loved it for its camera, features and erognomics but it was horrible at maintaining a stable LTE signal at my office and that would drain the battery pronto. Other annoyances about it was the comparatively laggy and slow UI, especially coming from a nexus 5, and it's low-light blurry camera shots (these issues may or may not have been fixed via firmware upgrade). Had it for around 10 days.
I then got an M8 and really loved it for it's build quality, speakers and fast UI - faster than the nexus 5 even. It held the LTE signal well and had good battery life, lasting me a full day. Unfortunately it's camera was beyond awful and beyond my patience and was thus unacceptable for me. Also, like the M7 before it, the M8's UI was too sterile and boring for my tastes. Had it for around two weeks and got bored.
For me, the Z2 has been the best overall package of the three with that huge battery, potentially great camera and good performance. I've had it for 2 months now it has the best of both the GS5 and M8, along with the best battery of the bunch. The camera is capable of producing phenomenal results in any lighting conditions, the battery can easily last me two days and beyond, the UI is quick and pleasant to use, the screen is bigger and nicer than the other two (IMO) and I love the build quality and water-resistant features. The speakers also fall in between the M8 and GS5, and are good.
It's not as easy in the hand as the other two though, but if you can get to hold it for yourself and find it acceptable, this really is the best all-round phone in the market IMO.

I think this depends on the shop your go to and/or country you're in. Everytime I've been to buy a new phone I've always been able to inspect and have a close look at what I'm buying, the trick is don't be afraid to ask and if they refuse then you tell them you wont be buying. With distance selling, you should have at least 7 days no refusal exchange/refund so long as the device hasn't been used with a sim card but again depends which country or shop you buy in/from.
I own both the devices, I prefer Z2 as my daily driver due to the camera.
Z2 wins in camera and battery life department.
M8 is smoother. But I like being able to go from sleep to snap within seconds.
I prefer Z2 solely for its looks(I have the white version) and the available customizations.
Thank you guys for helping me. Guess what? I got the z2 last night and I am really happy with it way better than my s5 glad I sold it. Now some case and screen protector shopping to do ?

Congratz! Welcome to the greatest flagship club.
I thought about going back to my M8, turned it on and while that screen is supposed to be one of the better ones out it does not look as good as the Z2 does. I love how the Z2 screen looks. I think the sound quality issues might not be as bad as I thought so Im keeping it. Pictures Ive taken with the Z2 blow the doors off the M8. Only thing I dont care for the glossy back panel on the Z2, if I wanted a glossy iPhone I would have bought one of those.

I need an good advice

So, my Xperia M4 is broken and I want to buy a new phone.
I read about the oneplus x and I really like it, it has many beautiful features and suitable for developing.
But I read also that because of the high resolution of the display it drains the battery super fast.
And want to ask you oneplus x users:
Do you have a problem with the battery
Does it drains fast.
And finally I want you to give me your general thoughts about this phone should I buys it (note that I want a cheap phone that supports installing custom ROMs especially CM)
Thanks in advance
dont
battery life not good
crappy video recording ( even with sultans hal , its noisy and oversaturated)
good 4g speeds and proper dual sim working with disabling sim onky on oxygen os ( which is not a really good os )
overheating issues onky resolved with custom kernel
other than those , its fairly good in other aspects at this price point

I was about to post a question like what he did .
But may I ask u about the battery ??
What do you mean by not good, I mean like 3hrs of on screen is bad for you but maybe they are good for me.
So would you please give numbers, like how much does it last and how much does it take to recharge.
Thanks for answering

Overheating issues resolved ? I don't think so, not for me
As the screen is amoled so i use black theme to reduce the battery drain, i usually get around 4hrs+ battery with wifi, data, videos and some game play. Oxygen OS is not good i use Turbo ROM for the customization and stability. The phone is slippery at hand i would recommend using a sticker if you are not a phone case person.
The way I see it, this depends on the price you will pay to get it. At 200$ its still a deal, yes it has some little drawbacks - but for me they are not a major concern, at least for my use of the phone. When I bought it back in January I paid 265$ for it. I wouldn't pay that much now, since for less then 200$ more you can get the mighty OP3. But 200$ seem the reasonable price for it now. Since it come with a plastic screen protector and a light plastic case too, you might even not want to spend more on other accessories.

[ISSUES] Should I buy a Oneplus 6T?

Hi guys I must replace my Samsung S8 (Exynos).
In Italy the S9+ and the 6T have the same street price, so i’m trying to see both pro and cons
S9+
Pro
Wireless Charge
3.5mm jack
Better camera
Better HW support ( physical store )
Maybe better Value
Awesome Display
Cons
1yrs old phone
Big phone
Not sure about optimisation and bug fixing from Samsung
6T
Pro
New phone with Pie
Hope for a better software support and bug fixing
Cons
No 3.5mm jack
No wireless charge
I don’t know about hw assistance
Not so bright display
Less security (Knox)
I’m not a modder fan anymore and I always had Samsung devices, but i hate that for example with the s8 i must switch to 3G before put it in airplane mode unless I have big battery drain and this bug has never been solved by Samsung from Oreo. I don’t want to go with a stupid bugged device again.
So what issues related to OP6T are you experiencing? At the same price you will go for S9+ or OP6T? ( or save 100 bucks for a Mi8 or a S9?)
Thanks
Not sure what I can say about issues because I haven't found anything. But, I tell you my wife has an S9 and compared to this phone it has terrible battery life. My 6T lasts me a healthy and solid 2 days (right now starting day 3 with 40% left) but hers lasts like... 10 hours? Its on a charger alot.

Yes probably the S9 has an horrible optimisation, so that is why i’m On the 6T for the battery life and maybe on a S9+ instead of the S9.
For the screen is the 6T brightness so bad? Obviously compared to the S9? In the summer my S8 becomes so bright and readable never had issues.

Ciao! I'm on the same situation as you, can't decide between OP6T and S9+. I think I'll go with OP6T for the better software/software support and the better battery. As far as I know, support under warranty has hugely improved since the time of the OnePus One but if you want to be 100% safe you can buy it from MediaWorld here in Italy! I'll probably miss the headphone jack present on the S9+ but still I wouldn't buy a one year old phone just for that, also considering the low term software support Samsung gives.
I just got this phone on Friday and an LOVING it! It hold a charge seemingly forever, and the display is gorgeous. It's very smooth and snappy.

Thanks, are you able to compare the brightness under the sun with other phones?
Have you encountered any issue that is this forum threads like the deep sleep that kills the notification?
Coming from a Galaxy S9+
I have a Galaxy S9+ for work and a OP6t for personal use. I prefer the OP6t. No, the display is not quite as bright. However the colors and size are amazing and just as good as the Galaxy. The battery life is significantly better. I have to keep the Galaxy S9+ near a charger so it is topped off before I head out if the house. The OP last so long and charged so fast that I don't worry about it. Also the near stock os flies compared to Samsung's... Its not even close. I've been using wireless headphones for a while so that wasnt a big deal to me. I think it's only a matter of time before all manufacturers get rid of the headphone jack so I figured I'd take the plunge. The only things I miss at all on the OP are wireless charging and Samsung pay, but the OP experience is so much better that is worth it.

Let me qualify this with that fact that I am not big picture taker so I likely haven't experienced a significant number of scenarios. With that said, is it behind, yes...is it FAR behind, no. It still takes really good pictures with the rear camera, at least for point and shoot. I haven't used the front facing camera, so I can't say for sure. Everything I've read (and doubtless you have too) says the front facing camera is crap. If it matters, it also doesn't have all of the AI/AR stuff that the Samsung camera does. I played with that on the Galaxy for about an hour and never used it again, but it may be important for some people.
I just sold my S9+ and got the 6T and I can't imagine going back. Camera isn't quite as good, but it's fine for my uses. Screen isn't quite as good, but with 20/20 vision I can't tell much of a difference. Definitely doesn't get as bright, but haven't had any issues with the max brightness. The 6T is tons faster and doesn't seem to big down like the S9+ does and the battery life is miles better. Can't imagine going back

Thanks man but from a screenshot is useless, it is shown as the same
I’ve seen from the Oneplus 6 review always from Erica that this shadow clipping effect is more affecting the S9 than the OP6.
But S8 was better than S9 on that so I hope that 6T doesn’t perform worse than 6
The image test is available in some display tester apps

6t. All-around better experience
Hi!
I have Huawei P20 Pro, and it is a good phone but I want to try out another phone. And I think about to change my P20 pro to OP 6 or 6t but just untill near October because I want to buy a Pixel 4, 4XL, OP 7t or galaxy note 10.
Firstly the camera is important feature for me, and I know p20 pro has a better camera than the 6 or 6t but those phones has ported gcam so how good is that gcam?
And battery, speakers and the software is important to me as well, OP always has a good battery life so it's ok, speakers is weaker than the speakers on the P20 pro. But the software is a key part of OP Oxygen OS is great and I like it, and it's way better than the Emui which is a **** for me I hate basicly everything in Emui
What do you think, is it worth to change my phone for this couple of months or I should wait for the Pixel 4 or OP 7t?
If the camera or speakers are most important to you, then wait. The op6t is ok on both counts but coming from the pixel camera and speakers, you'll be disappointed. The Google camera app doesn't significantly improve the camera imo.
Actually the camera is important but the software is the second most important thing the speakers just good to have a good one.
And what about the screen?
It's amoled on the OP, and the P20 pro. And both of them has fhd+ resolution.
But which phone has better color reproducion or the viewing angle?
I personally love the screen on the op6t. The resolution/pixel density isn't as high but I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter over a certain point. Something about the color saturation and white balance is pleasing imo.
If you got the money buy Note 9 or wait for... 10.

Should I switch?

Hello guys, I'll keep everything short.
I own Pocophone F1 , Should I switch to essential? What are cons and pros of Essential phone? It's on latest pie right now and fingerprint option is missing from settings, Can it be fixed? Is Camera "That" bad? Is battery better than Poco?
Thank you, please don't ignore this post if you have experience

I have no experience with the Pocophone, but I will say that I have been very pleased with this phone. The only thing I don't like is the sensitivity of adaptive brightness.
A few things about the PH-1 that I like:
1. It was developed by the guy that created the Android operating system, and it's a fairly pure Android experience, with the exception of the camera.
2. It gets security patches monthly, and whenever a new version of the Android operating system is released, the PH-1 usually gets that update the same day.
3. The camera is fine, it's just the stock camera app that's the problem, and even then, the stock app isn't terrible. Plus, there's a nice Google Camera app ported for this phone.
4. Battery life is pretty darn good. As long as I don't forget to turn off the hotspot, AccuBattery estimates almost 24 hours of use for me. Whenever I leave the hotspot on unintentionally, it will drop to around 18 hours.
5. Fingerprint option is not missing for me, and it's always worked fine. I wonder if anyone who's had a problem has a rooted phone. I've left the phone locked and on the stock OS, and it's been great.
6. You can't beat the price. I bought mine for $375 from Best Buy. It's no longer available through them, but you can easily find it in the ~$400 range.
Depends on what you want. The PH-1 has the look and feel of a premium phone with near stock software and timely updates. Battery life is great for 3040 mAh. Might not be as impressive as the 4000 mAh Pocophone. The screen is quite good if you get one without light bleed. The camera isn't great but it's now solid/ good after several updates.
The modular system was a nice idea, however Essential hasn't really done much with it. 360 camera never worked that well and the headphone jack / enhanced DAC accessory is just too little too late.
If you really want the PH-1 you should search about reception issues on your carrier. I had poor reception issues on my original PH-1 and several replacement devices.

the budget PIxel 3 is going to be announced soon, why not wait for that?
When the price tag was 250-300 it was an obvious choice but since the price has risen to 400-500 dollars i would be less able to suggest it was the best option but for "power users" id say its still the best option. Ultimate customization, no bloat, no bull**** stock apps, 2 adb line bootloader unlock, all stock files and flashes provided by manufacture, great/fast hardware with tons of cool features in a pretty robust chassis. My wife even likes it stock, enough to switch from a life long love of apple.
