Hey,
I have the Oneplus 5 and dust/link seems to be getting stuck in the small groove around the home button/fingerprint reader.
This happens quite frequently and is irritating. Does anyone else have a similar experience with the OP5?

So... I am wondering if this happens frequently, and how do you remove it easily? I've tried compressed air.

Well would say a air can is the best route, also try a flip cover
Maybe try using some Scotch tape? Or those dust removal stickers?
Microfiber cloth will do the job.
I've feel like this phone is statically charged at all times. I've never had a phone that hair wanted to stick to so bad.

You need a flip cover
The dust is literally stuck in the small grooves. Microfibre cloth did not work.

For about a week my trackball has been clicking on it's own. I'm under the assumption that it is due to it being dirty but I can't seem to clean it out. Honestly, I don't use it for anything so if there's a way to disable it I'd be totally open to doing that. Any ideas? Thanks.
Have you ever got it wet? that was the problem for mine
Never gotten wet. You ever find a solution for yours?
Try this if you have a screen protector.
Take a blank sheet of paper and rub the trackball while holding it clicked down over the paper, This should get the dirt out, But i repeat make sure you got a screen protector.

like the poster below yours said, after time to dry it just worked fine again but I also wiped my trackball with a cloth to try and dry it. it's strange that yours has been about a week, maybe dust or something dirty then
Hey guys,
So I've had the Nexus 4 for around two weeks now and it's too well designed of a device for me to resort to using screen protectors although I will be getting a thin case soon since it is quite slippery. I was just wondering what some of you do in order to maintain the condition of the device. I've simply been using a dry microfiber cloth - usually used on my eyeglasses - and rubbing gently until all the smudges are gone. This keeps it quite clean for 3-4 days but I don't know if that period will shorten with prolonged use. Any and all tips are appreciated, thanks in advance!
I just usually rub it on my shirt. Takes the smudges off in one wipe

After I wash/dry my hands I use the edge of my palm, the coating is great so I don't even have to do that that often.
Sounds like a pack of microfiber cloths should do just fine for the future then! Thanks guys, still welcoming other suggestions
I keep a pack of Wireless Wipes nearby. Great product I've been using for years. http://www.wirelesswipes.com

american apparel t-shirts work surprisingly well. it makes the phone extra shiny!
well it works just like a microfiber cloth.
any sunglasses pouch works well too!
I use optical wipes on my phones, gets rid of any finger grease and doesn't leave streaks.
I use the cloth that came with the Nillkin case. Works way better than a microfiber one that came with my girls mini laptop.. :/

Not fair
He guys im new and i had a question about keeping my nexus 4 clean. So when i recieved my nexus 4 i had it naked without a screen protector or case, then i decided to buy a full body xtremeguard screen protector, which was 6 dollars. They arrived and i tried putting them on the next day. They were wet installation which i didnt really like. I had to use a bowl of handsoap and water. So I installed them and tried to accelerate the drying process a little by using a blow dryer, but guess what, it really made the beautiful screen look all ugly and disoriented so i took them off and decided to keep it the way. and applied a little more water to the glass to get all the soapy residue off and dried it off a little more. The next day I noticed that when i held it in sunlight I noticed this white stuff inside the crevices in between the glass and the edges of the phone. SO whats bothering me is that i think its dried soap in there and blow drying it only made it worse. But wheat really gets me ticked off is that i wanted to keep my phone perfect and clean but that stuff is still in there and i dont know how to get it out. Its just killing me. Ive tried water, q tips, even scraping it out with printer paper but no luck. Can anyone give me ideas or help plz?? thx. IM sorry if this a very long post
Should have left the XtremeGuard on there, it takes a few days for them to dry properly and until they do, they look like a disaster.
As for the left overs, maybe a fingernail will be able to scrape it out?

Fingernail is thicker than paper. If he can't get it out with paper....Try using a needle I guess?
Oh nope I already tried that when my nails were longer and now there even more useless ha. Its too deep in there. But I guess I'll keep searching though. Any type of liquid I could use to dissolve it or something?

Not related to the above posts as such but more the actual thread title, a pair of jeans works very well. Wiping the phone on my knees while wearing jeans gets rid of everything, and no smears either. Looks like new, much better than T-Shirts.
anyone have advice on how to clean the ear piece grill? putting my nexus 4 in my jeans and pockets add lint to the inside of the grill. it annoys me. any advice on how to get it super clean and all black again?

Compressed air, but be careful not to blow it to closely.
As far as cleaning the screen itself, I use monster LCD/plasma TV cleaner I got at best buy. Its a little pricy but I've had it for 3 years and works wonders on all my phones, even on screen protectors.
I do not have any advice as far as what to do what the residue in the screen your talking about.
I have a screen protector on the screen and have been thinking about removing it lately. I had a convo with my neighbor who never uses a protector on his phones. He never has gotten a huge scratch on gorilla glass, and to be honest I rarely ever change my protector and prob sacrifice more clear screen using one vs not...

Get yourself a small camera lens puffer (like a rocket). Great for getting dust and lint out of nooks and crannys, but not enough force to damage anything nor any chemical agents (like in canned air).
my ear piece and mic is a bit dirty, I don't think air will get it out. can you use alcohol or something similar??

G'day all,
I just recently received my G2 and noticed that it gets very finger printy. I have the iloome screen protector and diztronic case but I want to be able to wipe the screen down every day or so just to keep it clean. What cleaning solutions or products do you guys use that won't take off the oleophobic coating on the screen protector or anything that is gentle but will degrease the phone? Mods please move if in the wrong section.
TIA!
I use the
Eyeglasses cleaner I got from my eye doctor and the soft cloth that came with it.
I used all that up lol. What about stuff that can be used to clean laptop monitors and other tablets/phone? The eye glass cleaner that we get only comes in tiny bottles and don't last long.

If you have a screen protector, then monitor cleaner will mess it up over time. You can get the glasses cleaner at a drug store. It's pretty cheap and you can buy it in bigger bottles then the sample you get from the eye doctor.

I didn't want white. White is associated with Apple...and I'm sure we all feel the same way about apple. I quite like the black finish on my phone. It's almost like a black chrome and looks very classy imo.

I use lotion a lot and there's always some kind of grease or file left on my phone. Plus my face is extra greasy which doesn't really help either.
Put it in the small container mixed with warm water and detergent. Soak it up for about 10'. Take it out, shake the water off, wipe clean with lint-free cloth.
Look good after all.

Cleaning minimal as possible. Too much cleaning on screen without screen protector just causes the screen to worn faster.
Also I don't suggest micro cloth unless you clean the cloth

this is the way to use a smartphone. don't care this too much, usually u can upgrade the phone each two years, why care it so much?
Am I supposed to take you guys seriously? I wouldn't use that stuff for just my phone. I have TVs, computers and other items I would use it on too, including my glasses (from having glasses for the last 20 yrs...). And if you read the thread, I do have a screen protector.
Just use a microfiber cloth...
If there is anything sticky that doesn't come off with the cloth, I just rub it with my finger until it comes off and then use the cloth to clean the fingerprints off. Oil from your skin does wonders.

Microfiber cloths work perfectly fine for me on the regular display, but now that I think about it whenever I use screen protectors it never comes off.
After a couple of hours on my pocket i noticed that there is a lot of dust under the glass just on the top of home button. No way to clean it. It´s sucks, phone which is supposedly IP68 water and dust resistant in two hours looks like my old note 4. Can´t take photos for now.
Any of you guys with black phone also noticed that? I can live with but it drive me crazy.
Cheers.
You sure it's under the glass and not just stuck to the top? It's strange that dust could get through. If so, I would contact the retailer and get it exchanged as it sounds like a defective handset.

Yes, black version.
I went to Samsung customer service. They told they dont see nothing strange (of course). They offered to send it to Samsung official service on Madrid (Spain) to check if there is some kind of physical damage and let them decide what to do.
So probably i will do that on monday. other 2 weeks without my phone.
Someone else with this problem? I just want know if its a problem or something normal.
Cheers.

I suppose it wasn't actually under the glass. It was at the side of the home button.
The issue in the photo looks more like light from the screen to me.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
From my personal experience and "investigation" I was able to remove most of the dust with a very thin sheet of paper and lots of patience. I put the paper between the glass and the frame and pushed the dust out. It took a long time though.
As for the investigation part it appears that the black coating doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the glass which means there's a very narrow part of the glass where the dust can get stuck and stay visible.
It's a near perfect phone with 2 very annoying downsides, fingerprints and dust getting stuck around the glass frame, at least with the black version.
I have this same issue. Driving me crazy...
If these phones are supposed to be water resistant, have you tried to stick it under a tap to see if it washes out?

It's annoying as hell but I guess I live with it unless it makes it way to the camera or the proximity sensor
Sounds like a defect.
Dust under the screen means that your phone is not water proof.
Id go back to the store and get another one.
I had this with a gaminng system. Took it back and got another one.
It does not mean it's not water proof it just means it's not sealed around the edge, it's sealed further in as there's a small crevice
So I don't know if it's me being crazy or what. Has anyone else noticed a weird blueish green diagonal line pattern across the screen/screen protector on this phone? T mobile version...I don't know if it's been there the whole time or maybe when I sprayed Windex on the phone, well a cloth, then wiped the phone if that had something to do with it or what..just need a second opinion on this to make sure the screen/digitizers not effed or not. It's so I'll prominent on or off the same. It's like a blur gradient..I'll try to take a photo with another phone..any thoughts and opinions would be great..
Don't spray Windex on phone/tv screens. I heard it's bad, like it eats layers away damaging the screen.
