I'm currently on LOS but I Will return to nuclear as the battery is very poor for me on LOS and RR.
Resurection remix. Can 't beat the optimization options and battery life... Best rom for me.

How is the battery life compared to LOS and Nuclear?
I can not make comparisons between roms because I only use RR because of optimizations. I get 2 full days with 5 and a half to 6 hours of screen on time. Can not complain.
Resurrection remix is the only thing that exists.
Unlike the others, I haven't tried RR yet, I thought the locked thread was an indication I should wait.
I've tried Stock MM, Stock N, LOS and Nuclear. The stock ROMs were nice, but I don't get much out of Mifavor, and there are too many default apps I don't need.
LOS makes for a nice base, but requires a lot of tinkering to get what you'd otherwise get from a ROM that's using it as a base.
That's where Nuclear shined for me. It ships with substratum, has nice options for the lockscreen, and statusbar, and kernel optimizations. The battery life has been great so far.
Though, now I'm thinking I should give RR a whirl
This thread should've included a poll. My vote goes to NucleaROM. It is my first non-stock rom on this phone and the moment I started using it I realized how well LineageOS works on this phone and how little I will miss MiFavor or whatever it's called, although I have to admit that the stock rom was pretty fast and smooth aswell.

I love LOS 14.1 and am extremely happy since the speaker output was recently fixed. It seems to have the most support also (the whole LOS team)
I would switch to another ROM if the battery life is better though.. thats my only problem with the axon 7 now. are any of the other ROMs significantly better?
Stock, because deodexing is for noobs and bloatware is for pros.
Seriously, just stock. Performance is always better on stock ROMs.

Lol, let's pretend you know what you are talking about. :highfive:
I am on RR ROM and would not go back to stock. Sound is so much better and really loud without distortion.
I have tried most of the ROMs available and I like RR the best. Due to the customizations it has available, I like my phone to be the way I want it.

I'd like to try a non stock ROM, but having an Axon 7 and losing the DAC is madness to me.
Hi all,
New here; long time silent follower/downloader but never posted.
I had a couple of handsets spare in the house and lately have been a bit sick of iOS so decided to dust off the old OPO and G3, and to flash a custom Nougat ROM. I thought I'd end up using the OPO as it's higher spec than the G3.
I've installed AOSP-CAF 7.1 on both phones, with stock Open-GApps.
The interesting thing is that despite the OPO having 50% more RAM and the exact same CPU, the D855 feels much snappier and gives a better user experience. Any ideas on why? Is it the kernel? Bummer at the minute as I'll be forced to use the G3, even though it only has 16GB and 2GB, also with the lower res front camera. With the display being higher res as well, I'd have expected the OPO to trounce the G3! Any ideas?
Thanks!
Change ROM ?
Or change the kernel :highfive:
Seriously, I think that is due to the kernel settings. Sometimes (i remember on Omnirom),some roms need other kernel settings to feel better and smoother

Why? I was wanting something stable & fast; I gather Lineage has bluetooth & Android Auto issues which are both deal breakers for me.

Hmmm, thought it may have been the kernel. Looks like it's some trial and error then!
Thanks.
Lol even stock Cos13.1 of OPO will perform better than Lg G3 for sure.

That's what I thought too, but when I got the ROM running on the G3 it was definitely smoother. Any suggestions for ROMs/Kernels?
Definitely want Nougat and definitely minimalist/stock Gapps. Don't like the funky custom looks on a lot of builds.

This is a stable rom based on latest lineage os with builds updated regularly and optimized kernel for as smooth as it gets performance.

No,Bluetooth works perfectly fine. Moreover if you encounter any other issues, the developer of this rom is kind enough to fix it for you.
Had a look through the thread for it, looks promising. All this though, and I dropped the OPO last night. The repair shop has it now, and they've never heard of one. Won't read the sim. Eeek.
Hey guys,
I'm just curious about what ROM do you prefer?
Tue godly xxx No Limits or the new RR OS with 8.1.
I've used RR on my OnePlus One for so long, but now I got used to OOS with my 5 and ended up on xxx No Limits because it sticks loyal to OOS itself.
What do you prefer?
I used xXx No Limits from the time I purchased the phone (August) until January, when I switched to the first RC DU build based on Android 8.1. I honestly enjoyed the DU experience, and it was great being on the latest software, but I ended up reverting to xXx No Limits simply because of how snappy it feels compared to any custom ROM out there. I think it's the reduced animations that do the trick, but everything feels a lot snappier on OOS than on custom ROMs, including the speed of the FP sensor.
I'd recommend that you stick with No Limits. However, if you want all the features RR offers, then, well, switch to RR.
Your call, mate. Cheers.

The fact both are so different it's the exact reason I'm asking help here.

If you like OOS, go for no limit, if you prefer AOSP, go for RR. But my personal preference is Codename Phoenix, AOSiP and Omni.

Aosip is better than rr right now. I like xxx right now though. I can use ozone and theme everything I want for free, the qs doesn't put a shade on everything like aosp based roms, easier to get weird mods together all in one install (modded YouTube, adaway, gcam, build prop tweaks, etc)
I do like all the customization on aosip though, just not enough to pull me away from xxx. Now when Android p comes out and it's 6mons before xxx makes an update or if he does, I'll move on. But as of now, I'm not going anywhere
xXx NoLimits for the win.
Hi,
Just bought a K20. I can't stand MIUI. But going through this forum I realised that are are a few things which will break. (like no 48MP mode in Custom Rom)
So I wanted to know all the cons of Custom Rom vs MIUI.
-------
List:
No 48MP mode.
No MiUI camera
No Widewine L1 status.
Fingerprint is slow (not sure)
Less SOT (MIUI has various optimisations)
Any others?

If you can't stand MIUI then the cons are none.
I think by now GCam has 48mp fixed, FP is almost as good and so is SOT.
Ofcourse, But still I'd like to know what features I would lose.
Where did you get the 48MP Gcam?
Also. does MIUI camera works on Aosp/caf based roms?

You seem to be a experience user, probably you can clarify that for the OP and me. Some time ago I decided it's better to stay in the stock (stock based ROMs) side, talking about OS. In other way I love the stock experience (coming from OOS) but what about bsp thing. How does the Rom developers fix the layer of software containing hardware-specific drivers, to have fully working Rom. So we can have everything working as it should. THANKS in advance.

I'm not that experienced.
As xiaomi now release the Kernel source (even if some times a little out dated), custom ROMs actually build on top of it to keep maximum compatibility.
In the end, both are great (i'm on a moded MIUI my self) so it's all about the OS that feelt best for the user.
Granted, dev is still in it infancy on the Mi9t so many ROMS (even stock MIUI) are still with problems.
hello dudes, i've been that kind of user that tries many mods and reads up about every possibility, but now sadly i have no more time for it :c (uni+work+gf+everything else)
i'm running an s7edge exy with stock rom and i'm considering switching to a custom one. actually battery life on stock is still amazing but i miss root features (and i totally hate that hecking youtube premium ad that keeps showing up) and that extra useful rotate suggestion button that came in pie.
what i'm more interested in are speed, battery and ad hoc features (always on, edge lighting, edge tabs): some friend of mine suggested me that pie performs alot better than oreo and now i'm asking: is waiting for 10 roms worth it or not (will it perform even better?) ?
would you suggest a stock rom or a samsung oneui based? is there any actual list to look up for?
ty alot ♥

Black diamond N8 v2 with Thunderstorms kernel 2.3 pie will be good for you. Good performance and battery.
If you want Android 10, Los 17 beta is out and in the coming weeks a stable version should be out.

Would you suggest to wait for LOS or not? I mean, it's just about stability or there is some difference in terms of performance (between Los and black diamond)?
(and why blackdiamond n8 instead of nfe? I can't find the difference but the nfe looks more updated, isn't it?)
I would rather go with a pure 8.0 Oreo ROM that looks like it used to look on Nexus 5X. Just pure Android. Does anyone know where can I find one?

The experience on N8 id way better and the experience is more fluid. Samsung basically made the Note FE pie firmware just because they had to because of the note 7 fiasco so the libs are not well optimized. N8 is a lot better imo.
As for LOS. I will recommend waiting for the stable release of LOS17. The beta version have bugs. I also don't recommend LOS16 because i haven't had a good experience on jt.
My go to configuration is N8 with Thunderstorm kernel.

Yes Los is based on Aosp and has no samsung crap.
Just clean android focused on performance and battery.
As fas as Oneui is Blanckdiamond is good.
Once OneUi2 is out for s10 series , developers will try to port it but porting android 10 to a legacy device is hard and i doubt s7 will get a fully stable build of OneUi2.
