Hi
I remember from OP2 that after unlocking the device there was permanent "mark" in fastboot mode (fastboot oem device-info) even after flashing stock and relocking.
Does OP5 do the same?

I doubt it as OnePlus states on their web site that unlocking, rooting and applying alternate ROMs does not void your warranty, so why would they care. If you overclocked and damaged the hardware then sent it in for replacement you'd likely have issues but not just software hacking.
OPO and OP2 definitely had this.

None at all, to open it all you need is to remove the two t2 torx screws at either side of the USB c port and then separate the display from the case by lifting the plastic clips that hold both together.
Inside all the phone has are Phillips screws and ribbon cables to connect all components to the main board.

He's not talking about opening the phone. Hes talking about how on older OnePlus phones there was a software switch that would go off if you unlocked the bootloader and there was not way to reverse it.

This is true.
The OnePlus 3 doesn't have this. So I think the OP5 has it neither

As many have noticed Asus left the mount for a rear facing camera inside the nexus 7 even though they later took the camera out. My question is, what would it take to install a camera into that mount and get it to run? My guess is all it would take is the right camera and a connector that could be installed into the board beside the camera mount where the old connector was. Of course a hole would need to be cut into the back cover which may interfere with the nfc antenna. Or would it? Would the firmware of the device need to be messed with, or would the camera work with any camera app like normal? If you have any ideas on how this could be done please reply. I would like to try this but it may be more difficult than I'm thinking.
I haven't taken much time to look at the inside but I plan to put some LEDs between the speakers so it will glow. So I'll look tomorrow but I don't think there is a place to connect the camera.
As far as the antenna, if your careful enough you could lift it up and move it. And just solder a wire on it to run to the connectors
But this is if you could find a camera and get it to work

I believe there is a spot on the right side of the mount where a connector was supposed to be soldered in but was left out. I wonder if Google or Asus would tell us where to get the connector they originally planned to put in that spot. I doubt it.

Yea, it's not really worth it. He parts would be expensive
Hense why they left it out, to make it cheaper

Replacement camera modules are surprisingly cheap. From $10- $40ish. You would just need to find one with the same connector and many seem to have one or an other connector. So if you could find the connector and attach it to the board finding a camera to connect to it may not be too difficult.
Very likely that I'll need to be checking the battery connection in my N7. I've done some research on methods for popping off the back cover. Interestingly, I've yet to find really specific instructions. I don't want to break the tabs, so really detailed how-to's or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I just use my finger nail and stick it in on a corner then just pry slowly have not had any problems with doing it

Really! The tabs don''t break? Very cool.
I've read that the "safest" way is to use a plastic opening tool to push in each tab.
Would be great to hear more experiences.
I have taken off the back 4-5 times and have had no problems at all just use a finger nail and take it slow when you pull it off no special tools needed

Did you start in one of the corners? Down by the USB port? On the side?
Got it!
Just jumped in.
Thanks for the guidance!
Start in any corner just slide your finger nail around the edge it is super easy

Done!
For anyone else who needs to pop off the cover, it's virtually identical to popping off the back of a Galaxy Nexus, or any similar type of phone. Very easy, with little/no risk of breaking off tabs.
I was able to check my battery connection - a loose connection/disconnection being a known issue for a number of N7's. I made sure mine was snug (it was) and I added a tiny piece of electrical tape to help ensure that it doesn't come loose in the future.
Thanks again for the help!

Anybody?
Have you contacted your vendor / supplier? They should be able to help you more than anyone here.

I don`t need to contact my vendor or supplier. I just need oppinion from other users. How does it look like when you plug charging cable to the usb port.
Is it stick super tight or swinging slightly up and down. Maybe it is normal. Both of my unit have the same issue.
mine is quite tight.
My cable is not loose fitting, but certainly isn't tight, either.

On my phone the cable clicks into place solidly but it does move slightly from side to side and back to front.
I just got the phone a few days ago so I may exchange it unless they all do this.
So far everything works fine though.

Just the same as mine. Both units the same. Clicks into place but move slightly from side to side and back to front.
I think they all have the same issue
I just got the Mi 9T a few days back and I can't help but notice how sharp the outside edges of the USB Type C port are. The way I hold this phone one handed and frankly the only way I can do it is with my pinky finger resting on the port. But it's becoming an increasingly uncomfortable thing to do because of how harsh the port is. I am not using any case.
Is this just my phone or its just the way its designed? And is this going to get any better with time?

same with me, maybe a plastic plug would be welcome?

You mean I should give my phone in warranty?
Sent from my Mi 9T using Tapatalk
yes, my job is metal working and there isno way for it to be sharp - its just dangerous, so use warranty to replace or if you have skills use file to make it better
Can anyone else please comment?
I use this case => https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SRK7JZ3
No problem! ^^
On mine, it's not sharp at all
Okay I am gonna go to the Mi store and see if the demo unit has this or not. I hope they do have a demo unit as I don't know anyone who has this phone.

Hi folks,
My global version 6T has developed what is likely a physical issue where it switches from ring to vibrate just fine, but going from vibrate to silence often fails when pushing the switch up to the top position. There's nothing obviously / visibly blocking switch travel. It feels like it clicks to position, but no change to silence about 5/6 of the time. Repeat several times, eventually works.
The phone was bought in December 2018 and I'm the only owner. No other problems with it and it is completely stock and up to date.
It has occasionally had this problem for a year but now it's gotten worse.
Any hacks short of sending for repair or opening the phone up?

I had the same problem with my 6T. I used the OnePlus Diagnostic app from apkmirror & it solved my problem.

Interesting! I will check it out. How did it fix it?

So I ran the diagnostics. Sometimes it detected the silent switch sometimes not. I'm unclear as to how to improve the situation using the diagnostic. Any detail appreciated.

paperclip
The issue is the switch not the speaker [emoji3][emoji3]
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
The picture shows the switch.
Thanks. So far I haven't identified any significant crud in my switch travel area but still a good thought. [emoji106]
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
I'm also dealing with it at times. Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
Nothing specific actually. I just ran the diagnosic app. First time it detetected the silent switch & the problem was solved. It never occurred again. I guess it was a software problem.
Also had this issue.
I am was not able to see any sort of dirt in the upper switch area, but it was there.
Use a paper clip or fine needle and try it.
It my case there was a very tiny dirt which prevented the correct top position.
Just stick something in and let us know.

So, I don't have a solution to fix the actual switch, but RussianBear figured out how to set the ringer mode in software so you can bypass the switch, if you need to.

Good find, but I'm not rooted so in my case no dice.
I poked a stiff wire in and pulled out a tiny bit of gunk.it seems a little bit better now. I just have to be careful to make sure silent mode engages.

Mine does this too about 20% of the time, I never knew it was a common issue
