Okay, this might seem like a stupid question but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to navigate to the DEFAULT screen or power settings app that comes with windows.. because manila has changed all the shortcuts in my settings folder and now i cant reach it..
As for the reason for me doing this... with Duttys R9 WWE (23533), I cant actually set it to turn the screen off after X seconds.. it instead has the option to "Turn off device if not used for: xx". This might seem like a minor issue but if i turn the screen on in my pocket by accident I can drain the battery completely.
NVM, got it.. removed the darn redirect on my power settings thing (shoulda thought of it before i posted lol)
But, if you still want to access the advanced tab from the power settings page, goto a registry editor and navigate to: HKLM\ControlPanel\Power\ and delete redirect. Just restart and It'll come up in the settings folder
So I followed the instructions to go from ParanoidAndroid to Stock, and I chose to stock to 4.4... now I'm having issues.. strange ones.
1) The Home Key doesn't do anything.
2) The lockscreen is non-existent
3) When I press and hold the power button, all I get is "Power Off".. no other options.
4) I don't get notifications, and when I pull down the notifications menu, none of the functions work (User settings, Date & Time, etc.)
5) If I use the "stock launcher", I continuously get "Launcher has crashed" error, never goes away.
Any help with any of this? I've been trying to fix it for hours.
Thanks in advance, guys..

Make sure it is connected as MTP. Try uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I had a hard time finding the drivers before as I am using 64bit win7. Drivers I found before had some troubles as it was not signed..so I can't use in on 64bit os. If all else fails..use airdroid to transfer your files. Good luck.

Same issues here. I flashed it via fastboot. Used the "flash-all.bat" script, but took out the "-w" option so it wouldn't wipe my data.
I'm having the exact same issues but going from stock 4.3 to 4.4 ota when the notification showed up saying I was good to go. Never been rooted at all.
My opinion on this update
well my opinion on this update is that it seems as though it was rushed and for some reason they didnt include the google experience launcher... like why would you announce and then not release

Google have never announced the Google launcher.
Google have never said they will release the launcher for devices other than the Nexus 5.
Google have never called it Google Experience Launcher.
It doesn't take any effort to make it work on the N4.
Update
Here's an update: One other issue I had was my phone would not work if someone called me. I could call out, but calls to my phone went to voicemail. I decided to put Android 4.3 back on...but then the thing got stuck at the Nexus X screen. I flashed a couple of times, but nothing. The one thing I didn't want to do was lose my data...just a pain. One thing I did while dealing with the 4.4 issues, was copy over my data.
I had to end up re-flashing everything losing my data. I basically used option "D" from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34552123&postcount=1
I would think there is a way to fix the 4.4 problems, however, not having my phone work really wasn't an option. I could deal with the home button, notifications, etc...
Oh...about 10 minutes after I was finally back in 4.3, I get a notification that 4.4 was downloading. A bit later I was able to install using the OTA and it worked! Now I'm on 4.4. I haven't rooted it, and I'm pretty sure I've lost CWM, but after spending 3 hours or so dealing with this...even getting the "red" light at one point, I think I'll call it a day. Just thought I'd update for others.

Im having the exact same issue but I installed the official OTA update. Will probably try flashing like you did. Haven't seen this issue posted anywhere else.
Over the air update also gave same symptoms (and a couple more)
Dear All,
I got the update pushed over the air automatically and clicked to update thinking all was going to be fine
I am having all the symptoms listed, and I can add 2 more for the sake of completeness (and to highlight the annoyance):
1-When clicking on links from Google Now results or any app other than Chrome (I do not have other browsers installed), Chrome gets launched (or switched to), but it reloads the last open tab instead of loading the link.
2-The double finger down swipe to access the profile is not working (and I did not find a way to access it, since clicking on the little profile icon in the empty notification screen I get with the single finger swipe down, also does not work, it does not even click).
For some reason, until I rebooted Email did not work (it kept sitting in "checking" the inbox, but was not able to get messages).
Really bummed that this happened with an updated pushed by Google on my Nexus4. Will try to follow recipes to back-up my data.
I am new to forum/android: is there a direct way to submit feedback to Google team? Does it make sense to try to do so? It would be nice to know what caused the problem and I'd be happy to send debugging input for them.
I guess next time I'll wait on the fence a bit before updating the operating system.
Thanks,
Gabriele
Maybe you guys need to do factory reset after the update. I know it's quite a hassle as all your data will be gone. Just backup whatever things you need and reset it.
Clean install here. Never had any issues and kitkat works great even on dalvik.

Google support solution
Dear arffrhn and all,
I finally managed, after a lot of frustration to talk with Google support (had to go through Google Play Help center, and pursue "apps" help to get to click on a "Call us" button, and they called me to a landline in Europe within 15 seconds).
Once I got transferred to hardware support, Eveline mention how she believed the issue was with some "glitch" during the update... she told me that in many cases a cache partition clear would be enough, but if that did not work, a factory reset should do it.
She guided me through the first process:
Clear cache partition.
1. Hold power button for 2 seconds and select 'Power Off'
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for about 10 seconds.
3. An image of an Android lying on its back will appear.
4. Press the Volume Down key twice until "Recovery mode" appears on the screen.
5. Press the Power key to restart in "Recovery mode."
6. An image of an Android with a red triangle will appear.
7. While holding down the Power key, tap the Volume Up key.
8. The Android System Recovery screen will appear. Release all keys.
9. Use the Volume keys to scroll to wipe data cache partition and press the Power key to select.
10. The phone will restart.

Unfortunately this was not enough to fix my problem... still same symptoms.
So she offered to help me back-up my data, I had already used AirDroid to back up all the files, apps, pics, videos etc so I preferred to stay on the line and proceed with the factory reset in case that would not work.
Here are the steps:
Factory data reset.
Please note that performing a factory data reset on your device will return your phone or tablet to its original state. I'd recommend backing up and saving any photos, videos, music, or other items you might have stored on your device's local memory. If you have a device with an SD card (for instance, a Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Play edition), your media content (photos, music, etc.) stored there will not be deleted.
To perform a factory reset:
Go to Settings > Backup & reset.
- Press Factory data reset
- Press Reset
After you perform the factory reset, you'll need to sign into your device with the same primary Google account you were using before in order to sync your purchased apps and other content.
If you're unable to get to your Settings menu, follow the steps below:
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold both volume keys and the power button to enter Bootloader mode
3. Press the volume keys to cycle to the Recovery mode option
4. Press the power button to select Recovery mode
5. From the Recovery mode screen, press and hold the Power button then press the Volume up button.
6. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
8. The factory data reset process will now start. Once its finished, select 'Reboot system now.'
Click to collapse
I was able to access my Settings menu, so I did not need to follow all the steps, but just do the data/factory reset.
The phone came back up asking usual personalization questions, and it all was fixed... now I have to spend a few hours getting back my apps, data, settings, etc... but my problem was solved without having to re-flash or anything like that.
I filed a feedback about the abysmal situation of the Google Play help center and asked the two support people I spoke with to raise the issue internally... when I selected the natural line of help (device, technical support) after a couple of screens I got to a blank "Select device" screen that was a dead end. I had to go though apps support that only offered phone support... but in the end it worked.
Hope sharing this will help others! Not sure whether I should peek into the Google Experience Laucher eventually... back to work for now!
Cheers,
Gabriele
PS
The steps quoted above were sent by Eveline after our conversation was over, in case I needed to use them again. She mentioned that if I were to have more problems they could look into a potential hardware failure of my almost our of warranty Nexus 4.

[Q&A] Silent mode missing after 5.0 lollipop update on Galaxy S5? Now priority mode.
Edit: solution below (4th post). But be cerful for disabling your alarms.
<rant>
I have a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F. As a power user i need to factory reset my phone every half year to keep it running smooth. Since it was time for that anyway, i combined a fresh start with flashing the official polish 5.0 lollipop S5 rom (the updated one
PDA: G900FXXU1BNL7 ). It looks and works great. Ok, more blacks would work better with the amoled screen and it can easily take 2-3 seconds to open the task switcher, which is extra annoying if you have to also use it to jump to another browser tab. But i didn't find any major bugs and i generally love it. But one thing is driving me so crazy I'm considering going back to 4.x and staying there.
WHERE IS THE FRACKIN SILENT MODE?????
Sorry for the caps but that's kind of how i feel. Apparently it's not a bug but a feature. In vanilla, stock android on the nexus and moto g, you have to assign priority people or apps that can disturb you in priority mode. And then there's the "none" mode where your phone is completely silent. But those modes are not there in touchwiz. And people can't get their phones silent on other hardware too. Apparently Google will do a reintroduction of the feature in 5.1. But i don't know what that's worth. It will take ages for Samsung to incorporate and I'm starting to distrust google. With Google maps I'm still missing some features they cut out, such as measuring the direct distance between two points in the app. And they brought back writing to microsd cards with a special api, but i still can't edit word documents in any of the seven office apps I've tried (including several purchased ones).
</rant>
Anyway, I've tried everything i could think of to find silent mode:
* tap the vibrate/sound button in the quick toggles, it only switches between sound and vibrate, silent is gone
* long press power button: sound settings are removed from this menu
* go to settings - sounds and notifications: again there's only sound and vibrate mode. Silent mode is missing.
Please help me. The only workaround i found is to manually set all vibrates to really soft. But where is the silent mode? This is a feature that has been present in phones since before the wheel was invented. Did they really forget it? Or leave it out in purpose?

Thank you for replying but where can i find this priority mode?

Solution
Ok, found it. You mute your phone with priority mode, but that's rather hidden...
WARNING: your alarms will not go off of you set priority mode to none.
open the all toggles: swipe down from the top of your screen with two fingers (or swipe down once and tap the icon in the upper right with three squares and two arrows)
here you see a toggle called all. Set it to none for silent mode
tap the pen icon to edit the layout, long press the all/none toggle and drag it up to put it in your directly accessible toggles
you can go to the settings for priority mode by long pressing the toggle. You can also find it under sound¬ifications - interruptions (not called priority mode!!!)

This is not something implemented by Sammy, this is a Lollipop Google feature and sucks.
I had a widget for doing this and the App developer says that there is Nothing he can do
why they did this God Knows
what the heck is wrong with android developers nowadays? I hated this option.
At least silent mode will be back in 5.1
I am on EE and when I upgraded to Lollipop I lost this silient mode like everyone else did. My mate on Virgin also lost it but about a week later he received an update and he gained back this functionality.
There's now an XPOSED module for enabling native silent mode in lollipop

I'm very confused by this "priority mode" thing. I would really like it simple....I can put my phone on silent at night and have my alarm go off, and still receive ALL notifications while I'm sleeping, but they're silent. Then during the day while I'm at work, leave it on silent, but receive all notifications. I really really don't like that no matter what, silent mode mutes all notifications and alarms. It seems like I have to have it on vibrate in order to have the alarm work. I've googled this so many times and read so many articles, but it still doesn't make sense. Also I couldn't care less what order the notifications are.
who install and active XPOSED module in Rom 5 ?please help me....
hi there,
1. i notice that since my S5 which had LP installed, on S7e i cant use the menu button for menu actions cause it is always forces the recent app screen, when i use xda app on my S7e i cant seem to reply or add a new message because isted of showing me the menu of the thread if i press menu button it goes to recent or if i try to press a little longer it give me a notice that xda app does not support multy window.
no matter what i try i cant seem to use the button as menu. and i cant seem to find in settings how to turn it off or at least turn of multy window which will probably will help to use menu button as menu.
/ found a solution for that problem....its called multy window toggle for samsung from play store. stops the annoying multy window.
for the google now that keeps popping on home button just need to uninstall google app and force it to factory app and it wont pop by pressing home button.
2. also on my older S5 with LP i had the option to share media with my ADB streamer via nearby devices in the settings menu. once i open the nearby devices i had few option on which file to share and to which device. but now in the S7e i have the nearby devices but i cant seem to share media with my streamer no more, plus i dont see any option to share media except the on off button and small explanation text about the nearby thing.
for this issue i still didnt find any solution.
both S5 and S7e are stock, my S5 is rooted tho.
can anyone enlighten me about this. maybe i just missed something about both issues ?
thanks for helpers

Hi.
My Huawei p10 lite doesn't allow to modify the color of the navigation and notification bars when opening any app. Apparently the color is locked (it's a dark orange) and app like navbar are not able to modify in any way the fixed color.
Only when opening "Settings" the bars are white and in home screen, where navigation bar is transparent.
The phone came with a telephone company brand (which logo, by the way, has same basic color of the navigation bar) but other customers I contacted throug socials that got the phone with same conditions from the same brand, seem don't have the issue.
Is there any idea how to unlock the navigation bar color without being root or go through other invasive expedients?
Thanks a lot,
Luca.
This happened to me when I asked Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. I got super annoyed by the orange colour. So I tried telling it to turn it off but it wouldnt, so I scrolled up on my Google assistant history and flipped the switch where it said power saving mode. As soon as I did that the orange was gone.

It only happens when asking Google assistant to turn on power saving mode. Try saying "Ok Google turn on power saving mode" and it might bring up a switch. If it doesnt, then to access what you've said before just say Ok Google or hold your home button then scroll up and keep on scrolling to find a switch. If there is no switch then I have no idea what the orange means.

Note that the orange stripes on the nav and notification bars appear on any app of my phone, except for Settings and home page.

Ok, have you tried changing the theme?
If not, then let's start:
1st: Find your themes app.
2nd: Go to the "Me" tab.
3rd: Choose any theme (those on the bottom are downloaded)
4th: Tap on the theme you want and tap apply.
If you have changed the theme then maybe download a theme which changes the navbar? (If I find one I'll try to send it.)
Ok here's one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15UOMMsz22_4NHnv0Ue2K5h_qxFH3zhvl/view?usp=drivesdk

I'm sure this is probably the Google power saving mode that is enabled. It shouldn't always be enabled, because it usually turns off once your battery is fully charged. Try installing Activity Launcher here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Open the app, on the top of the screen, tap on "Recent activities" and choose "All activities".
Scroll down until you find Settings > Battery Saver > Turn on automatically, and choose "Never".
Hopefully this will turn it off. If that fails, I'd suggest making a backup of your data, and doing a factory reset.

EDIT: It would actually be easier just asking Google Assistant to "Turn power saving mode off", and it should be deactivated. Whether you remembered doing it or not, you might as well do it anyway, before you go through all the steps I gave you. [emoji849] Doing what @ianorna said is the easiest method. It's the only way to remove it, and it might just save you from doing a factory reset.

I may be late in replying the post but if youre still having the problem theres an easy fix.
the bars are orange because your battery saving mode is on, and no not the huawei battery saving mode, but the native android battery saver, its buried in the settings,
got to
settings>Battery>Battery Uasge graph>Tap to open detailed graph
tap on the three dots button on top right corner> tap battery save>disable!
That should fix this :good:  :silly:
