my t-mobile ameo times out ?

Hi
when syncing its fine
but when it comes to copying stuff over to the microdrive or
minisd card it times out vista come up with error saying device has turned off
anyone else had this prob ?
is there a timing setting i dont know about ?
cheers
Are they large files by any chance? If so, there seems to be a 'feature' of craptivsync and the Ameo where it won't copy large files (+20mb in my tests) without crapping out. The fix is to install wm5torage which makes the device act like a USB drive (overriding activesync). This works without issue and is about 1000x quicker than copying files via activesync. I'm using it even for small files as it seems to work at USB2 speeds rather than Serial Speeds! Do a search on here for Wm5torage and you'll be away.

I think all T-mobile user experience this problem, yes, the only solution now for you guys is to use the wm5torage. Luckily the DOPOD U1000 don't have this problem, and also an interesting point is my DOPOD U1000 transfer file equally fast as wm5torage via activesync, and no problem with large file as well. (over 2Gb)
I've not had any problems with my Ameo - copying 350 - 400 meg AVI files to the microdrive (using just regular ActiveSync only) works fine.
Well, I say fine - the progress bar goes a little bonkers. If it is to be believed, then the transfer restarts about half a dozen times, gets about 1/5th of the way through, then completes instantly.
But the files always end up on the Ameo fine.
Hi,
interesting to know it does it on some and not on others
i tried that program and it works fine
thanks for replys
I have only this problem when I transfer large files and I use my Ameo. When you leave your Ameo alone during the transfer their wil be no problem. I noticed this problem for the first time when a lot of programs were running.

Strange USB issues with X1

hey all
Just got in my x1 and it works a beauty... however i am experiencing a strange issue when connecting the x1 via USB to my PC.
I have a MicroSD card, though my PC identifies it correctly and i can browse through it, when i try to transfer certain files ..it takes horribly long time like 2-3 mins for ~ 1 MB or so (which is very bad for a USB 2) and most of the times the connection breaks up, with a Windows error ,saying the connection was terminated due to an I/O error or remote device terminated.
I have the same problem using both Active Sync and direct USB transfer.
I have checked this with 2 different cards and both have the same issue, so its a prob somewhere with the phone...
Did/Is anybody encountering a similiar issue ? Any suggestions.
I have tried changing the USB cables as well as installed the s/w's many times.
Cheers
Try using a shorter cable. Or use something like this:

I have a couple of these adaptors and they eliminated the problem for me. I don't know the reason for the problem, or if I'm right about the length of the cable, but it worked for me.
Never had the problem again.
Try changing the USB hub that you use.
ya..i tried changing the USB hubs and cables as well... still no luck...
I just googled I/O error and there are plenty of topics. I couldn't find anything useful though.
Some people suggest that it is either a pc usb hub malfunction or a defect in the micro sd. Which is strange, because I have never had that problem since I changed my usb adapter.
Keep looking man and if oyu find a solution don't forget ot post it .
ok...i uninstalled my USB drivers and reinstall them on my PC...and things seem to be working fine ,so this is not a problem anymore...though when i tried to do Internet sharing via USB , my x1i froze to death, it happened a couple of times...so need to still look out.
I had similar issue when I use longer usb cables, especially when they are of low quality. With short USB cables the problem seems to be missing, so I guess it is something connected with the USB communication, not exactly X1 issue.

Nexus 4 to Nexus 10 USB transfer, without intermediates?

The back story
I got a moga pro and now I'm playing big games on my N4, problem is, I can only play one at a time due to my limited storage. I am trying to transfer Vice City 1.4GB using usb, which transfers at 20mb/s on my computer using USB. I am trying to replicate that on my Nexus 10, so far no luck.
What I've tried
DriveDroid https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softwarebakery.drivedroid
StickMount https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount
USB Sharer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.devwom.usbsharereval
My first attempt was with DriveDroid, which was designed to turn your phone into a dynamic bootable USB for linux ISO's. It allows you to make IMG's and share them as a USB Mass Storage Device. Using an OTG cable and StickMount on my N10, I was able to move files from my N10 to my N4 over USB. Problem is, that IMG has so far been unreadable by every extraction program I've tried, including Nandroid Browser and ISO Extractor. More importantly, the IMG would take up 2GB on my N4. If I can't mount it as a directory, than that would leave no way of giving those 2GB to an app. I tried flipping it around and putting the 2GB IMG file on the N10, but then the N4 couldn't mounted due to its notorious power issues. Even if I get a powered OTG adapter for the N4, that would still leave no way of transferring a 2GB game on the N10 into the 2GB IMG file on the N10.
My second attempt was USB Sharer, which allows sharing a virtual usb drive AND mounting it. This would in theory be the solution to all my problems, but it fails to mount on the N10. I tried Paragon and StickMount. Meanwhile it connects flawlessly on my linux laptop. It is not the OTG cable, as it works with DriveDroid.
My third attempt was mounting my phone as a PTP Camera using androids built in tools. Photo's transfer insanely quick, but I can't trick it into transfering a fake ".jpg" file. MTP is useless over OTG for some reason.
My hardware
N4, 4.2.2 Stock+Root
N10, 4.2.2 Stock+Root
OTG Cable, ASUS and Samsung original USB cables
My last desperate attempt would be to start a network over USB, if I can, and transfer using FTP.
Edit 1:
I am now looking for a way to mount ISO's and create them on a third party program (not DriveDroid).
Max file size I've ever been able to transfer was 680mb. Any more and it got rejected and said there was limited storage even though I had over 5gb free.

Multiple storage devices

I am unable to mount two storage devices through a hub to my ouya. Is this standard for Android? Being able to transfer files from my PC to thumb drive and then onto the HD connected to my ouya would be so much easier than my current routine.
Both stickmount and USB otg helper will allow you to do this. I have tested with es file explorer, astro, and filepwn and both drives are visible. With stickmount they show up under /sdcard/USBstorage/. With USB otg helper they are found in storage/usbotgdrives/.
When you install games/apps from discover only one of the drives will show up. After trying a few different hubs it seems like every hub has an order it reads the USB ports. The first HD or flashdrive it finds reading in that order is the one that shows up here.
Installed stickmount (huge fan of Chainfire), and it appears to work mostly fine.
Unfortunately stockmount is part of the boot routine and the SU request tends to lag, hang and slow the boot sequence a bit (boot, as into xbmc using autorun).
Im so terribly dissappointed in the mod collection, xposed, etc. It just seems like my system is terribly slow and a reboot doesnt seem to completely clean it out.

Can't transfer pictures via USB to PC

New development. I can open the DCIM Camera folder in Windows 10 file manager and see the pictures but as soon as I try and start copying them I lose the connection. I can still see them on the PC but when I click on one to view I get image not found. Same whether in file transfer or picture mode. If I start all over I can again see and view each one but the connection gets lost when I try to copy them. Never had this issue before. Thoughts?
Update: It was the cable. While it worked well for most functions file transfer was not one of them. Plugged in the OEM cable and worked just fine. Time for new cables.
Further update: I appears file transfers fail over long cables. The shorter stock one worked fine. Transfers fail on 6' or more cables. Bought brand new one and tried to transfer to transfer 5 photos. Failed after 2.
