Does anybody know how to root S7 Edge on G935U android 6.0 QC1 Firmware because I don't want to run root on android 7.0 QD2 firmware since its noticeably slower. If not, can I still rollback to G935P PEH firmware and root from there? All inputs are appreciated.

BusyBox is quite essential to holding root together; install it after eng boot.
I was only on mm u firmware to recover from hopping too much...so I'm not sure if it will work but it won't hurt.

PEH I believe but like I said I wasn't on the firmware goofing around. And there wasn't a root method or still one that i remember...I may be wrong
Anything you need regarding mm/nougat root will be in this forum category. Search button is nice too.. just make sure u add those build prop commands.

Just manually enter the following in apn settings
Name: anything /Docomo
Apn: TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET
Apn type: internet
Rest leave it as is
After that turn on the apn but don't press back key,instead to go back from settings use home key.
Restart phone n you should have internet ;-)

Your welcome
it always does
Being a Europe firmware, the APN list might not be there for Asia. I had the same problem and had to manually configure the apn. It worked.
Not a big deal as long as you know the access point details for your subscriber.
Any way to make it automatic in a firmware/rom of outside like europian ?
I found this in Sprint Note 4 section by @llawen, who found it in the Note 3 section and I can confirm it still works on Sprint Note 5!!
All credit goes to @idone. Not my work. Just sharing here.
You MUST BE ROOTED for this method.
Download sqlite editor from playstore (Speed Software version, which is a paid app....BUT if you know your way around that, then you're good ).
Open sqlite editor,
select files.
Then
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db/
Select carriers.
The last 2 lines (APN2LTE internet) and (APN2 EHRPD internet) you will see (default,mms), add ,dun.
It will look like this
default,mms,dun
Make changes in both lines and save, reboot, and enjoy.
FOR NON ROOTED PHONES:
First step is to get your MSL number either by calling Sprint Customer Service, or trying this method here on AndroidForums:
[GUIDE] Easy way to get MSL without calling Sprint or using CMDA Workshop
After getting your MSL number follow these steps (originally posted by @MasterTentacles in the Sprint Note 4 Section):
Go to Dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Press "Edit" then enter your MSL.
Click on APN Settings
For both "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" change APN Type from "default,mms" to "default,mms,dun"
After you enter the change, hit Menu -> Save before going to the next APN.
AND THAT'S IT!!! YOU NOW HAVE HOTSPOT!!!
But be aware, if you update PRL, you will have to redo these steps....
THIS IS ONLY A GOOD WORKAROUND UNTIL A FULL NATIVE HOTSPOT IS MADE.
Enjoy!!
as well as with any Samsung updates.

Doesn't work after the Marshmallow update from what I've seen. Suggestions?
hi
my friends gave his n4 to enable LTE.. i tried lte enable zip but didnt go well.. and i cant read whole froum..
can any1 suggest me a rom (mm would be nice) having lte by default?
plz help me
Download the 1.07/.33 hybrid LTE modern from here
https://drive.google.com/folderview...&usp=sharing&tid=0B77BTW0zStYCSTRIYWpZQS1nOWs
Flash the hybrid modern in recovery, then go to the dialer and enter *#*#4636#*#*. Then go to phone information, scroll down to the network type, and choose lte/gsm auto. This will only work if your network provider supports lte on the band the nexus 4 supports, so please double check that.
here is my network specs :
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
MTN Irancell 1800 3 FDD Nov 2014 10 MHz in use [1][608][609][610][611][612]
does it support?
and this link u gave me.. does it work on mm or lp 5.1.1 ?
ty for help
It should work on mm and lollipop. I'm not sure if it works on those bands, the only way is for you to try. If it doesn't work, just reflash the original modem for your rom.
LTE enabler zip 2.13 flashes hybrid modem and also changes settings. db so 4G appears in Settings/Cellular Network and preferred network type is permanently set to LTE/GSM/auto in Phone info.
So if you are not seeing this may be try flashing again. Flashing hybrid modem by itself does not force LTE setting.

The enabler script does NOT work on marshmallow/Android 6, FYI. I've had a hybrid modem on my phone and used LTE on both Android 4 and 5, but it's a no-go with 6. Even if you change the settings in the 4636 menu, but it doesn't make the modem actually change modes.
Check out this commit (referring to CyanogenMod 13, maybe other ROMs are different):
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/125897/1/overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml
Look at this string of available modem modes:
<string translatable="false" name="config_radio_access_family">GPRS|EDGE|UMTS|HSDPA|HSUPA|HSPA|HSPAP|GSM|WCDMA</string>
Notice how LTE isn't anywhere in that string? I think it needs to be to be able to use LTE. Otherwise switching to LTE mode in the 4636 menu doesn't work.
Thanks for letting me know, I'll keep that in mind.
Yeah, I just tried adding a local.prop file in /data with the following content:
Code:
telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
ro.ril.def.preferred.network=9
which didn't work, so I then edited my /system/build.prop itself to insert that code (deleted the telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 line as well), which also didn't work.
And neither worked. Switching to LTE/GSM (auto) in the 4636 menu has no effect, and when going into cellular networks to choose preferred mode, the only choices are 2G and 3G.
Damn it. I really like CM13, I don't want to move to some random AOSP build...
Yeah I hear you man. I think you'll just have to sit tight until they update it.
I spent a couple of days trying to find a solution for this, but I cannot. So I hope somebody can help.
My phone is rooted an unlocked.
It was once a Sprint phone.
SM-G935P
I have my own MSL code.
Many forums advice that you enter ##DATA# and tweak
APN2LTE internet and APN2 EHRPD and write default,mms,dun.
The problem is that my DATA screen doesn't show APN2LTE internet and APN2 EHRPD
All I see is APN.
When I change the APN TYPE to default,mms,dun nothing happens on reboot.
Another popular advice is that you should edit the build.prop and add
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
But that fails too.
I've tried Foxfi, but that doesn't work either.
Another option is that I flash the 930U firmware, which apparently has the hotspot feature available.
However, I'd rather not install a new firmware.
There's always a risk of bricking the phone.
It's embarrassing that I have a rooted and unlocked phone, but I can not use my phone as a hotspot. I have tried a few apps as well. They fail.
The hotspot option never appears on my Settings.
Does anybody have a solution?

You can't use that build.prop edit as that only works for aosp,cm roms. You have to edit your framework-res.apk to unlock your Hotspot. Check the xda mods guide. Requires knowledge of decompile, compiling, etc. Not sure why someone told you U firmware would Crack it as that is false... that's just international fw

Download sqlite from the play store. Then you need to edit the telephony.db. follow this guide: https://blog.chandlerswift.com/2015/enable-hotspot-rooted-s6/

I do not understand the difference between root method A and root method B. But I'm sure I could look it up. My concern is that I don't really need help in editing the APN. I can already do that now. As I mentioned in my first post...
The problem is that my DATA screen doesn't show APN2LTE internet and APN2 EHRPD
All I see is APN. When I edit them to add dun, etc, nothing happens.
So I do not see how doing a different root method is going to help when I can already edit the APN.

Try this. Go into your phone dialer and enter this secret code:
##3282# (puts you in programming mode)
Click edit.
For the MSL code, put "000000" and press OK.
On the main screen, go to MORE.
Then click HDR/1x Selection.
On this screen, select Global then press OK.
The phone will restart and should enable LTE.
Hope this helps.

If Global doesn't work, go thru the process again and try the next 2 settings.
Unfortunately I have tried that and it does not work for me.
@DirtyPISTOLA This is a step you might of missed and has been throughout my thread. (Apn settings need to be applied after eng boot is registered) I implemented these settings through a .bat file in device system/etc folder, but doesn't work for all. So if you apply the eng boot through ODIN...and upon reset... Edit APN settings through mobile networks, being;
Name: APN2 LTE Internet
APN: n.ispsn
MMSC:http://mms.sprintpcs.com
Multimedia message proxy:68.28.31.7
Multimedia message port:80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
APN type:default,supl,mms,dun,fota
APN Protocol:IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol:IPv4/IPv6
Bearer:LTE
You should be able to run SuperSU .bat file and hopefully that'll fix it. If not it's a firmware issue.
I'm not sure if this works for oreo because I no longer have this device, but these are settings needed for LTE. Like I said idk if Nougat's LTE is different from Oreo's LTE.
Build.prop entries:
ro.characterisitics=Sprint
ro.telephony.default_network=10
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310120
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Sprint
ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Sprint
If this doesn't work try SM-G935U firmware with exact settings and steps, but change MNC: to 000.

Awesome thanks for the reply, I just upgraded to a new update that wont let me downgrade because of security policy updates as soon as SamMobile posts the firmware so I can restore if something goes wrong I'll give this a try. Thanks again.
Glad I finally found this thread, which firmware should I be on if I want to root this thing? Thinking of flashing Boot Loader 6 though again not sure.
Hey hey, I need to dig up this ghost here, cause I rooted a Sprint S7 Edge and put a verizon SIM in it, I don't have an active sprint SIM so I can't test it out, but the verizon SIM isn't getting any LTE, it just shows roaming, and no MMS messages can be downloaded. I may or may not have messed with some settings.
So, I can't edit the APN settings it's locked out. How can I either a. unlock the APN settings, or b. get it to recognize LTE networks without doing that. I've tried so many different things I've found on the forums, like nova launcher menu and going into the IOTHidden stuff to get into LTEfunctionality and that's not even there on the phone.
We're running OREO, but I just don't know what the deal is. Any ideas?

Even with the inactive sprint SIM I am given options for APN settings, I can't edit or add any, but I do have options, whereas with the Verizon card it's all frozen out
