I am trying to achieve this but I'm having issues.
I want to put stock firmware on my S8, which is not operator related (currently from Vodafone)
So I have used Heimdall frontend to download the pit file, which is successful
Then I used that pit file as well as the firmware (put it in PDA) to flash my phone using Jodin
But it keeps saying pit file is corrupt.

Hello!
I am using heimdall frontend on a Ubuntu/Linux to flash. I loaded it on my system and everything seems to work. I just cannot get it to load the root file.
I have figured out I need a tar.gz not tar.md5 like on a windows odin version flashing app.
I got the root firm here:
http://download.chainfire.eu/399/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hllte-hlltexx-smn7505.zip
I assume that I need a firmware for my sm-n7505 that is maybe for the type installation I a flashing from. Is there a none windows flashing root file that works with Hemidall? I have searched and searched and all flashing root firmwares seem to be for Windows systems. Anyone point me to a place to get the correct flash rooting firmware for my device sm-n7505??
Much appreciated.

Long story short, company is rolling out airwatch and I need to get rid of root. It's their phone, their policy. My issue is that all I have is a Mac. I've seen a few threads that link to the recovery firmware but it seems to be formatted only for Odin. Being on Mac, i'm limited to Heimdall which seems to use different files that I cannot find.
Can someone let me know where I can get the Heimdall firmware for my phone?
Thanks
Actually, you use the same firmware with Heimdall that you use with Odin. What you will start with is an "Odin flashable .tar (or .tar.md5) file". To use it with Heimdall, you will need to extract all the individual components from the tar archive. For example, you will then have files like boot.bin, sbl.bin, factoryfs.img, boot.img, data.img, hidden.img, modem.bin, etc. I'm not sure of the specific files for the S4, and I didn't open a tar archive to look, so whatever you find in the stock distribution is what you will need. Then you use them with Heimdall. There is a graphical interface and a command line tool. The command line tool may be a little more reliable. Some have had issues using Heimdall on certain versions of MAC OS.
Just wanted to post a followup. I used the instructions from here and I've got my phone back.
Thanks

Hey, just an opinion. Search around G928G modem.tar and flash it by CP tab of odin before flashing the firmware. Than try flasing firmware. If fails again, remove modem.bin file from firmware(dont know how to). Otherwise extract the whole files from firmware, delete modem.bin and make the rest files as firmware with proper tool(TAR maker or else). Good luck.

Well done, glad to know.
Ok so here's my issue
For a very long time since the G930U firmware was available to install, I've been using that. Well I decided to want to get my phone unlocked for GSM using those services but it needs Stock Firmware.
So I tried to restore to the latest G930P firmware and ODIN is giving a Volume size error for the system.img.ex4. I've tried now a couple different firmwares and no luck. Any idea?
The latest Firmware is PH7 I don't recommend it. PG1 on down are good to go. Extract zip stock firmware to a folder and add it in to Odin all the slots accordingly. BL AP CP CSC the last slot CSC is HOME_CSC not CSC_SPT and start flashing. It always works for me.
I ended up figuring it out. I had to find the stock G930P .PIT mapping's and re-partition because G930U ended up changing the sizes.
Oh good to know. Thank for sharing
Why do you not recommend PH7 update? I've heard it helps with battery life.
Could you share the pit file you used. I tried the same thing with a pit file i found online how ever since the pit i am able to flash bootloader but unable to flash system.ext4. Odin gives me a "failed (auth)" and neyjer the 930u version or the f2 or any of the other stock roms wont flash.... Help please
Don't you just love it when people "figure it out" and then don't share how? lol
Here... Since nobody gave you this. This may not be your problem.

I have a Samsung S7edge G935 that had boot problems and I have been trying to flash with the standard firmware from Sammobile and also Frija. I could not get either firmware’s to flash with Odin in windows as I kept getting Pit loading errors etc etc. As many know Odin for windows takes forever to report an error so in frustration I wiped the nand thinking that I could reinstall a nandroid backup off an identical phone I have. Clearly I was wrong. I have found on this forum the FWUL application which I have working and although I have not yet succeeded in flashing the firmware it does at least give the error messages in an instant. The firmware’s from Sammobile and Frija are correct for the phone UK BTU and I have unzipped the CSC files to obtain the PIT file which I must assume is the correct one for the rest of the firmware. I still get the same error in jodin ‘ pit file corrupted would you like us to get the correct file for you’ but there is no obvious way to accept the ‘offer’.
