theme customization - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

In the attached screenshot, any way to change these bgrd images? Like, the image behind the messages?

bump

No. Unfortunately.

Technically there is. But that requires theme development. In the sense where you take the theme, pull the files to your computer, then modify them by adding your own images, then loading it back to your phone. And from the sounds of it, I get the feeling you don't have a lot of dev knowledge

And can you use 3rd party themes or no

You just sign up to be a theme developer on Samsung. Simple process. Then you can upload themes to the store. Most of the themes on there are user created

[Q] Theme Chooser - add new theme

I'm about to flash CM7 for the various theme options and I get that it comes with 3 built in but something I don't get is how to get Theme Chooser to see a new theme when I download it here? Is there a way to "install a theme"?
On the market search "theme chooser themes", and you'll get thousands of results. Simply install them, and apply from the theme chooser app!
Is there a limit to how many you can have installed? And even when you switch from one to the other the settings you had in the previous one go back to the way they were? Or are they just skins and the settings stay the same all the time?
...did that make sense?
Also is the T-Mo theme chooser something you can run without using cyanogenmod roms? Or does it only work with them?

There is no limit. The themes are basically like sense skins, nothing changes except the look. And you can't run the themes without the.theme chooser app.

Ok, no limit. Awesome, cause some of them are so well made! I dont get how they get the UI down so accurately without it being a ROM.
And yes, I get that you need the chooser but do you have to have CM to have the chooser? Can you run these themes on Sense for example?

[ROM][CM7/GB] Pandora Rom [closed]

This project is closed. epic fail.
Great work, I can't seem to add anything to the list . Maybe you can add the miui music player or some other music players, like ttpod or something. That's all I can think of
Cheers

I like the MIUI music style so thats a definate possibility! I'l add it to the list
You could just make an update.zip with the utilites like -gapps, adfree etc which could be flash on stock CM7. (Personal Opinion) But at the end it's your choice. Make sure to have something different.
I want to make some changes to the framework and settings etc so I dont just wanna do an update zip. Im also considering actually using AOSP as its much cleaner as a base rom. also the theme is going to be heavily embedded throughout the rom so its really going to have its own look and feel (Hopefully)
The same way people know cyanogenmod when they see it, i want people to glance at this (and any other rom i make in the future) and say "thats pandora!"
thanks for the post though
Good luck

Thanks Mate.
if my roms are half as good as yours i'll be happy
actually, it takes only a few hours to make a ROM... but if you're gonna include a theme, then it's gonna take loads of time...!!! anyways, good luck!
Thanks very much!
yeh i want to theme EVERY stock app if possible so could be quite time consuming
I think tto change the icons of apps you will need to decompile the apk, exchange the icon and then compile and sign it again. Its not as simple as using a launcher and changing icons.

Yeah if you wanna change in-app icons it isn't as easy as changing the launcher icon. But the hard part it to find an icon to replace it...

@Ava.tar Good luck dude, AOSP based is a good choice Make something different
yeh i am going to change the png's in the ldpi/mdpi folders but i also want to mod a launcher that can do it from screen. like adw launcher you can change the icons by long pressing on the dock. im wondering if there is a launcher that allows customisation of ALL app icons, not just the dock ones.... i dont think it exists though and i dont know enough about it to make one myself..
my theme is black yellow and light grey at the moment and im probably going to use honeycomb/yellow style icons for first release.
on the subject, im trying to strip down the rom and get rid of the cyanogen-y feel thats all over it. does anyone have a settings.apk for GB that still has all the function without Cyanogen. ie. 9lock mod picker, notification colour changer etc? or am i going to have to make it my self?
does anyone have the AOSP zip... i had one but it didnt work. stuck on boot logo EVERYTIME. id prefer to build from AOSP but at the moment i just cant seem to get it working...
HELP!!!
can someone help me please. Im trying to change the colour of the notification icons (battery, signal etc) Im assuming there is an xml file somewhere with the colour info... anyone know where?

Nah, there isn't an xml file. You must replace the icons;p You can find it in drawable mdpi & ldpi folders. I dont remember exactly the names but you will see them.

Anybody have a homescreen that they actually made themselves?

Meaning not an application or launcher, but have you actually modified the layout yourself? Ex: Original icons, original wallpapers, etc...
Maybe we can make a thread where people can share icons or wallpapers specifically for the S3. Here's my homescreen with original dock icons (except app drawer) and original wallpaper. I prefer the more simple and darker things.
I like that Artist Gotay El Autentico and he's song from los de La Nazza Gold Edition CD

That's what the show your homescreen sticky is for in the themes and apps forum. Most people will tell their setup or you can surely ask them.

custom themes and icons

hey all,
apologies for the newbie question, but down in the themes sub section theres some really awesome icons/home/lock screens.
My question is how do you apply custom icons and make such drastic changes to the home/lock screens?
Thanks!

Go to Google play and get themer or a launcher like go launcher
Or if you are rooted just flash a theme you like
Thanks, I am rooted and running a custom kernel. I will look into those launchers and with a bit of luck get it all looking swanky!
Thanks again!
Or you are rooted instead the xposed framework and then an app of the play store named unicon, it will make you able to change the icons of all your app with the icon packs available in the store in all the system

Goodmorning!
I don't want themes for the "home launcher" or anything like this.... I am interested in making a theme that changes even the inside part of apps! As I said for example: make settings have an AOSP look in their menu.....
