Anyone else having trouble with their standard car charger? I'm plugging in the USB cable that came with my S8 in the the car charger and once I plug in the C-type side to my phone, the charger starts blinking and it won't charge the phone.
Works perfectly with my wife's pixel and used to work with my old S7...

The wall charger that came with my unlocked ATT Fuze has a loose wire and will not charge the phone. When I hold the wire a certain way it charges the phone and when I let it go it stops. Anyone know where I can get another wall charger that will work.

if you're asking what other phone charger works with the Fuze, a lot of htc phones use the same plug, like the htc dash/excalibur, tilt/kaiser, G1/dream, you can also use Motorola's Razr, Risor, Pebl, and even Blackberry's use the same plug. I think you shouldn't have a problem with such a small issue.
'til you get a charger, how about you use a usb cable and charge it on your pc!
Thanks for the information on the various chargers available, Roloracer. I'm pretty new at all this, so I appreciate the advice. Also, I'm charging my phone right now with the usb cable per your suggestion. Much appreciated.
there is this really cool site called Ebay that has a lot of this kinda stuff ...

Look for one of those little transformers that plug into the wall and have a standard usb socket on them. With that and your regular USB cable you should be ok.
One came with my camera and another came with my bluetooth earphone. Do you have a camera that charges through a mini-usb? Maybe that charger would work.
How about THIS for a charger?

Hey guys. Got an aftermarket charger after my original gave up on day one and i didnt want to have to send everything back. When i plug the phone in the scren becomes un responise, but the hardware buttons stil work. Can anyone explain this? obviously i ned to try a diferant charger, specificaly for the galaxy but how can the charger stop the screen working? Many thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes the same thing happened to me,,i took the charger back..and got a proper one
just for reference, the Black Berry 9600 chargers are compatible with SGS 9000
i bough one for car use
So are the moto chargers.
My car charger is an old razor v3 mini-usb with a mini-usb adapter.
My wall charger is an old Razor v9m charger.
Never tested a BB charger as i have always charged mine with the moto ones that were already plugged in
yup i also purchased a mini usb to micro usb adapter to use my old Moto chargers with my SGS
The same happened with me while using the stock charger in a train. The capacitive touch buttons and the screen stopped working, but the hardware buttons were working. So I plugged in my laptop and used a USB cable for charging it.
Never heard of this before....
I've not come across a charger that does not work.
The chatger works but the phone doesnt while its plugged in! my back button and menu button still work along with hardware buttons...... Weird... Allready ordered an official replacement

That will be the cable that has issues.
Pity you couldn't have tried another cable.
I am using a nokia car charger, also works fine. Blackberry didn't work for me
Yeah i know the cable causes the issue but does anyone know how? obviously other after market chargers are ok... Phone charges fine too, just cant use it when charging...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i'm using After market chargers too, but i have no problem
my car charger is using a BlackBerry 9500 charger (2A)
an in my PC i use a Motorola sync/charge USB mini + micro USB adapter to make it compatible with SGS 9000
they all work fine
i have not even unpacked my SGS usb cable that came in the box
Is any of this chargers really recognized as charger (charging with more than 500mA)?
You can easily verify this with the app "OSmonitor".
IF you see this: "USB Power: Online and at AC Power: Online" everything is working as it should. But if you see "AC power: Offline" your phone thinks the charger is a pc and it will only charge with 500mA.

The only problem with software informers here though is for those that have the problem and the screen locks up whilst being charged the software is of little use.
This question was not for people having a faulty charger but for the ones claiming that they have a functioning charger!
If the charger is not really recognized as charger it is useless for navigation. As the Galaxy S need more than the 500mA while navigating (with GPS).
yeah, minimum you need a 1A (1000mAh) charger
that's why i prefer the 2A chargers, it gives just enough juice to actually charge the battery, and use GPS+3G+WiFi+Bluetooth
else the car charger will not even be enough to power all those, and it will still consume the battery power.
that's from experience from my HTC phones

I bought a Sharper Image Retractable USB kit that has adapters for most of the USB sockets out there. But the Micro USB that came with the kit fails to work with the SGS, the retractable USB cable is set up like an extension cable which works fine as an extension cable but putting on the adapters dont work.
I have a problem charging my phone at the car. When I connect the phone to the charger, the charging is constantly switching on and off draining the battery in minutes. I tried other devices and they are being charged fine. The phone itself charges from the wall socket without any problems. I just wonder what the problem is. I am attaching a log in case someone could take a look.
Actually, if I plug in the phone to the car charger, it discharges rather than charges even if it is turned off.
have you tried another car charger to rule that out? if you dont have another one try borrowing one from a friend or something to test it out. i had a similar problem with my N4 and a new car charger resolved it.

I dont think it'd be a problem of your phone. If the phone is charging okay with the wall socket charger then your phone is fine. I'd suggest trying out another car charger.
Looks like it was a problem with the cable. It is not from N4 and used to hold fine but now it seems a bit loose. Thanks a lot, everyone, for suggestions.
Hi everyone
Whenever I use my phone in my car as a sat-nav (regular Google Maps), I have it plugged in but even so the battery still drains like mad. I don't use a cigarette lighter adapter, I have the charger cable hard wired to the car using this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-to..._Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item3cda83678f
When I installed it I confirmed that it was outputting 5V and the description says it outputs up to 3 amps. That should be enough to keep the phone going right? Though it has 2 USB outs, the charger USB cable is all I have connected to it.
Normally the phone does charge well but when its on sat-nav then it just drains despite being plugged in.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I am running a ROM which is a few months old, it is the July 1st build of Nexus 5 Experience.
Using right charging cable

All my problems with slow (USB) charging are gone since I've started using "right" charging cable in my car. You may try it by yourself - take original cable from your home to the car and check how it works for you even while GPS is heavily used.
I personally bought this one: (can't post urls in my messages - sorry) 2A-Car-Charger-Coiled-Micro-USB-Cable-4-LG-G3-G-PRO-2-Flex-Lite-G2-mini-Nexus-5-
Search eBay for something similar to this string.
But you may try to look for good one by your self. Hope this could help you...

First of all I'm very sorry for posting on a developer Forum, I had lurked here for about a month looking for an answer and I can't find it. I wouldn't had made an account otherwise.
Here's my problem, my phone randomly stops charging (not notice neither) since the Oreo Update. I believe is because of the update because I return my old phone and bought a second phone and decided to leave it on Nougat, I decided to update it to Oreo because I missed notification badges and the day after I already had the same problem.
Things of Notice:
*Both phones where new and on the latest security patch.
*My phone does charge overnight when in wall socket but will stop charging when I used the USB on my car (my car has a USB adapter but if I charge it there, it will keep READING USB and repeating the cycle)
*Phone also stops charging when I use an extended battery. (I'm an avid Pokemon Go Player)
*Restating the phone a couple of times, fixes the issue.
Is there anything that I can do? everything else about the phone works perfectly (Facebook takes a long time to load but that's it). If there's an answer already please forward me to that post. Thanks again
Could it be because the update enabled quick charge, so now the phone requires a bigger energy output from the USB?
Does changing the cable help? If not, try doing a factory reset.

Since this is my first phone with USB type C I only have the one cable. I had notice the battery backup is charging so it seems like a problem with the car charger but I need to test it first. What charging output do I need to charge a modern phone like this?

Anywhere from 0.5A (laptop USB port) to 2.5A (tablet charger) should work. Can you test charging from a computer?

I'm sorry I answer this late, I was unable to log into the site from my phone. (forgot the pasword). I did some testing in the weekend and it did charge on my laptop, it charge extremely slow., Just 3% in like an hour. (with constant use).
I kept using it with my power bank it kept charging reliably as well as in my house. But it keeps having the some problem at the car, So here's what I'm wondering. If I use one of those 3.0 USB car chargers will it charge my phone? without a problem to my car? I don't know if this phone supports fast charging (the specs says yes but I never seen the fast charging message with the regular charging)

No worries. Yes, laptop charging is slow.
I'm not sure if the stock ROM supports fast charging but custom ones do, and it can't harm your device. I don't see why it would harm your car if it was made for it. Maybe your car's USB port broke.

I see, I'll buy one of those quick charge car chargers and if everything goes alright I'm keeping the phone. I really like the look and camera and my only annoyances with it come from Stock Android.

Thanks for posting your problem and the answer!
I have had the same reaction on one of my phones after updating to oreo.
Changing the charger from a 1A model to a 2,4A model solved the issue.
