Hello, Im new to this forum and hope not violating any rules..
I just bought Galaxy S4 i9500 and has stock 4.2.2 installed. Cant update to kitkat neither with settings, nor with KIES 2.6/3.
Kies 2.6 says " Your Device's Current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies. " (see attch)
I'm total newbie with these CSC codes and nor googling helped me out with all my questions:
How to make CSC and phone sales codes match safely without flashing official rom?
I bought AFR version S4 designed for Kenya in republic of Georgia (Asia/Europe). There is no firmware designed for Georgia. So does this mean I will never be able to obtain updates OTA or via Kies?
Phone INFO and such apps didnt work coz it couldnt find "preconfig" file.. Does this mean flashing is the only way? Which websites are good for official stock firmwares?

My BB number is : I9500XXUBMG9
Here is my question..
1) Will this baseband region phone ever receive OTA update?
2) if NOT, then should i use services that samfirmware.com offers?
if YES, then can i install official firmware originally created for another baseband? For example can i use Russian I9500XXUGNG3 kitkat on my I9500XXUBMG9 ?
Doesnt it void waranty?
What are the risks of bricking? i mean basebands differ from each other, isnt that problem?
Also Im dissapointed with 2G call voice, sometimes i barely hear caller.. Can this be Baseband problem? I think this bmg9 baseband was originally for IRAQ carriers and im here in Georgia, which doesnt have specific baseband i guess...
I would be extremely grateful to those who answer me in this hard time ^^

Hi mate ,
First thing if you are in 4.2.2 is a shame to upgrade the bootloader..is Knox free
Your official updates most like it are blocked because you do not have the right CSC , download a nice little app from the market call PHONE INFO there it will tell you what your CSC is , this app can also change your CSC as long as it is available in the rom ( if you do backup first changing the CSC will do a factory reset)
Regarding your questions
1 OTA are CSC dependent
2 Samfirmware is good , and reliable you can go that way also
Second part of your questions
1 you can flash firmware for other countries , that is not a problem , BUT you may have problem with what languages are available , specific country services may not be available , no OTA
2 As long as you only flash stock rom (odin) you will not void the warranty
3 Briking is always a risk but when flashing not for different basebands
4 Maybe , for sure the right baseband would help

Alrighty. I dw-ed two apps, both named Phone Info. I just have a questions:
If I change CSC code to USA will I get OTA updates as soon as USA citizens get it? Doesnt it depend that im outside of USA?
Is there any cons for changing CSC?
My country, is not listed in CSC codes.. Is there a way i can always get OTA updates?

Hi,
A knox free bootloader is important if warranty some how is important for you , other wise there are the same
Regarding your first set of questions
1 Not an expert on kies but as long as all the csc inpho match it should , unless there is an issue with kies registration or IP
2 CSC give you country specifics network set ups , differnt countries have different set ups , fastdormancy , special services.......
3 you need to flash a stock rom from your country or region
Yes flashing firmware may change the csc code.

Thanks, but the multifile service FW is necessary to me. G900F isn't loaded when using an one-file FW
The firmware consisting of files -Pit; BL;PDA;CSC;Modem is necessary to me.

I need a FW used by Samsung service when phone is not booting. It consists of several parts - PIT-file, Bootloader, PDA, CSC and Modem.

The confusion is because you didn't clearly explain what you are looking for. "Multifile".. is more than a little ambiguous without a context or elaboration. Or you can try blaming it on the emoticon. Emoticons are always bad.
Anyway, you are apparently looking for Odin formatted components e.g. bootloader, modem, etc, rather than the complete tar firmware image. Most firmware repositories have the complete firmware which contains all of the components. To obtain the separate items, you really need to pull them from the full firmware image and repackage (tar) them. Samsung does package the components separately, but AFAIK only for internal use. I'm not aware of Samsung distributing or providing end user links to the components.
If you search the forum, you will sometimes find that someone has done the work for you. e.g. if you had a 900T phone, this thread would be useful to you:
[Stock Collection] Kernels, Modems, Firmware, Stock Tars[Current: NG3]
As to PIT files, note that a PIT (partition information) is unique to a model, ROM size and carrier. So if you have a 900F phone, 16 GB, carrier x.. that PIT file is different than a 900F /32 GB /carrier x or 900F /16 GB /carrier y PIT file.
Unless you are changing carriers or have partition corruption, you can simply extract a copy of the PIT file from your own phone. Have a look at this thread.

Thanks for your response!
The matter is i`m looking for FACTORY FW, but not for HOME.
In a firmware there is cache.img or cache.img.ext4 in which there is / recovery/command where key difference of firmwares of HOME from FACTORY is shown.
command for factory:
- update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
- carry_out=csc_factory
- wipe_data
command for a normal firmware:
- update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
- carry_out=csc_home
- wipe_cache
That as for division of an one-file firmware into components it is clear and I did it many times.
At a forum I recently, but Samsung am engaged in devices long ago.
If you are lucky, an employee may be able to provide the files you seek. But that is hardly something that you can rely upon.
As far as I know most files intended for use by Samsung technicians are not generally released to the public. So they will be difficult to find and you should do an exhaustive keyword search on Google, et al.
Or buy your local service technician a drink.

Hi,
I want to update my phone to Official Android Lollipop v5.
Can i install any other country's firmware on my device?
If yes then 'll this void my phone's warranty?
Can i get official updates in the future after upgrade*using other country's firmware?
Which firmware/update you suggest for my device?
If any problem occours then can i degrade back to previous version of android?
Here is my phone info.
Device: SM-G900H
Product ID: SM-G900HZDAPAK
PDA/Phone:*G900HXXU1ANG3
CSC: G900HOJV1ANG1
Thanks,
Try installing KIES3 and connecting your phone to the PC to check for updates
If none, grab a stock ROM for your model S5 from sammobile (No links allowed on XDA)
If the ROM is a stock Samsung ROM, it will NOT void your warranty so long as you use ODIN to flash it
Yes you can downgrade again by the same method
No idea about OTA updates, you'll likely end up with OTA updates for that countries ROMs
Any country ROM will work, but you might have issues with network, must be for your model S5

Hey guys,
The OTA update for android 7 has come up in my s7 edge duos. I have tried downloading it twice........it gets to 100% and says there an error and that it's the wrong version.
Not sure what to do.........any ideas
Download and flash the rom through odin.
Did you ever flash a different rom? Which brand is respectively CSC has your phone?
Never flashed another rom........bought the phone off amazon.com............it's zn international version, but looks like the supplier got them from UAE.

the supplier may have gotten from UAE but the csc may not be from there.
you can try downloading the Rom from samfirmware and flashing that way.
Thanx for the reply guys, how can I find out the CSC on the phone? Also if I flash with odin, Will that erase all the data on the phone? And will it trip the knox?
Why is it that the update doesn't work? How come the software on my phone doesn't match the update it's downloading? Is it something the supplier/seller has done to the phone? Like modify the software?
Thanx guys
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and you get all necessary information.
If you flash with Odin Know won't be triggered. You can keep your data with the three following requirements:
- The firmware you flash must have the CSC included you use at the moment.
- You need to use HOME_CSC file instead of CSC file.
- You may not tick re-partition.
Keep in mind to only flash firmwares designed for the Exynos variant.
Sellers on Amazon sometimes get phones from a different market and flash then a firmware fitting your market. This is rather a replacement than a modification (since the whole system is still official) and Knox is not triggered. However, one effect is that OTA may not work or gives "phantom" update notices. There's no restriction aside of that and you can just use Odin to remain updated.
You can post screens from all pages of the app I mentioned and we can see what's going on.
Hey Andiling, really appreciate your help pal. Here are some pictures you requested. Thank you
Hello which is the firmware I should download to flash through Odin. ?
I don't want to download any other that'd why I am asking
The main issue I face is that the battery is draining even if I don't use it. There are not apps in the background running but I am sure it will fix the problem.
CTF1 is the firmware you need if it's available. Check Samsung website.
