Will the AT&T model work on TMO? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Thanks.

DON'T DO IT. I just returned my AT&T S8 because they refused to unlock it for me. I was trying to use it on T-Mobile too.

What was the reason they gave you? When I bought my AT&T model, the IMEI # wasn't even in their system...

Will it work though?

Buying AT&T S7 Edge, can I use it with Sprint?

I have a chance to get a AT&T S7 Edge from someone cheap. Can I use it with Sprint if I flash a stock Sprint Fw on it? Didn't know if Sprint's system would recognize its IMEI # or not
You might need to ask in the Spring Forums or call Sprint. I know the ATT phone does have to SIM unlocked. I am pretty sure you can use it. I am using the TMobile FW with ATT.

A T-Mobile S8 on Verizon

I've searched and cant find anything but the bands for either service. Which they use a lot of the same. Is a T-Mobile branded S8 usable on Verizon? Full 4G or not? Thanks!

Darn. I was hoping since they all have the same model number that it would be possible.

Call Verizon with your IMEI # and they can check if it's compatible with their network.

Did you ever figure out if this was possible? I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Bump - anyone know if this will work?
As soon as I get mine unlocked I'll let you know as I have Verizon. All s8 models are the same but I'm sure the T-Mobile software has blocked Verizon bands. I'm sure if you flash Verizon software it will work just fine.
I have an unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy S8+ and it does not work on Verizon. I went into a Verizon store and they tried for an hour to activate the phone to no avail. They tried multiple different SIM cards and none of them worked. If anyone has better luck, please let me know. But they weren't able to figure it out at Verizon.

You need an unlocked Tmobile S8 or S8 plus.
Read the instruction in "Flash any carrier 100%" to flash to the carrier you desired, activate all bands.
Then use it on Verizon.
You need to flash your phone to Verizon to work. I did the exact opposite actually. I bought a Verizon device and flashed it fully to T-Mobile. Works perfect on T-Mobile because every US Galaxy S8 for the major carriers is SM-G950U. They support each other's bands, their just disabled by the carrier firmware.

Don't know about Digits because I don't use it, but Wi-Fi calling does work. I get the T-Mobile boot logo too.

I did not have any luck flashing it to the official Verizon Firmware, but I was able to flash it to the G955U1 firmware. The official unlocked US Firmware. Make sure your t mobile device is SIM unlocked by TMOBILE before you do this.
1. SIM unlock device by tmobile (pay off device, meet the 40 day requirement, etc).
2. Flash to G955U1 (S8+) or G950U1 (S8).
3. Insert Verizon SIM or ATT or any SIM.
4. Your phone will give you pop up warning saying it needs to restart to configure the new SIM.
5. Enjoy your new carrier.
Did you use a Verizon SIM and did you get both VoLTE and WiFi calling to work with the G955U1 FW?
my 2 cents

I went to Verizon store and used one of their Verizon SIMS from a display model of the S8+. Voice over LTE works, Data works and I was not able to test Wifi Calling at the store. I even ran a speed test and had about 27mpbs down and the associate ran speed test on his phone and he got about 20mpbs down connected to the same server using the Speedtest app. I ran the LTE discovery app and shows me connected to LTE Band 13.
Hope all of this helps.
Bringing S8 to sprint?
Did you anybody try to use a TMobile or other branded S8 on Sprint? The Sprint customer support is not able to add the IMEI to their database for whatever reason.
@Aephel
 @T33H00
Silly question, but does doing all this void Warranty? or is there no such issue anymore?
For example flashing Verizon Firmware onto a Tmobile Unlocked.
I unlocked my t-mobile s8 plus and attempted to use a Verizon SIM. It does NOT work. Verizon states that the IMEI is not in there database and that they cannot activate it.

Galaxy S8 on Verizon and Tmobile

I am interested in trying Tmobile for service but have a phone issue. I currently have Verizon service with a S5. Tmobile has advised me that my S5 would not work great on their network. They suggested that I buy an S8 to give their network the proper test. But if I do not like the service coverage, I understand their S8 would not work properly on the Verizon network if I were to switch back. So, I would like to know if I purchased an S8 from Verizon would it work well on the Tmobile network. Also, if I purchased an unlocked S8 from Samsung would it work well on both Tmobile and Verizon.
Please give me your advise.

Some "unlocked " phones are gsm only and Verizon is cdma(I think the s8 and plus have all bands though not 100%sure). Make sure it's compatible 1st. I setup Verizon s5s and s6s for people on T-Mobile before besides the sim card isn't from Verizon message when you 1st boot up they worked fine for them. Make sure apns are correct and don't use Verizon message app you'll be ok to try network.

If you truly want the S8 no matter which service you end up with, get the unlocked us version (like at Best buy) it should be both GSM and CDMA.

An unlocked version from Samsung.com should serve you better on both of your carriers. I have an unlocked S8, purchased from Samsung and I use it with T-Mobile.
Read the first portion and then scroll to the bottom for fine print and you will find your answer.

Tmobile v20 on MetroPCS

Im about to buy an H918 v20 and was wanting to use it on MetroPCS. The issue is its not paid off since he switched to Verizon. I bought my v10 almost 2 years ago used , not paid off and its been fine. Has T-Mobile updated their imei blocking at all or does it really not apply to Metro ?
Phones locked to T-Mobile work fine on MetroPCS. If the IMEI is blacklisted, then it won't work on Metro...

Ok cool. Is the esn checker on swappa reliable?
https://swappa.com/esn
No idea. If I were you, I would check with T-Mobile. Don't waste time talking to Metro since it will work on Metro if T-Mobile says that it is good. Get the IMEI, and call T-Mobile and explain that you want to buy a used phone, but you want to make sure that it can be activated on their network.
I buy all my phones from reputable eBay sources, so I know I can return it if the IMEI is bad. As a result, it has been a WHILE since I had to check one, so I can't tell you which department you should speak with.
-- Brain
I think tmobile will say no because its not paid off. Neither was my v10 and thats been a long time. Swappa for mine says its good for activation. ESNchecker passes on Tmobile but fails on MetroPCS , which Ive been using since ive had the phone. Doesnt make sense

im looking for the same thing.
nope they wont let you unlock from their service...tracfone told me it wouldn't work on there new and improved network so they offered me a $40 rebate off any new tracfone over $80....I cussed and argued for two weeks with no avail...I had another old tracfone and was also running on that old Verizon cmda network, well they activated it..I put the sim card in the galaxy and it works fine....they just wanted me to buy a new phone...well i get on the phone with them to tell them that I got my 902l working on their "new network" ...they said that I was a liar and that the imei for my phone was never even branded with verizon/tracfone ever....I said cool and let them go with what the computers show...I figured out that since i'm flash happy with ASOP pie ROM's i knock out my radios or whatever all the time...so when my phone doesn't work my imei# is also blank slated meaning no carrier or csc identifiers...which means that you have a good chance of getting Boost mobile or metroPCS to work...I'm from Knoxville, TN and I called every carrier trying to get service when tracfone went loopy....Boost will activate it for sure because they run the old cmda...I'm good with tracfone I've always used there service...but I will say that I do have a Tmobile 900T motherboard i got for $10 off ebay on the way because I'm needing bootloader upgrade so I can use my fingerprint sensor on these newer ROMS...And the GSM radios so i can just go with whoever carrier I feel....
