Hey guys,
I was charging my note 4 with the adaptive fast charging today, and when I reached about 73% it stopped charging. The brick (plug) was bricked. Did not show any charging, thought it was my cable so i changed the cable around, but no success so I used a different charger (non adaptive fast charger) to charge it, which did work.
Upon discovering this I contacted Samsung and was told that non of my retail stores had any replacements in stock. Now i must wait for them to get a shipment of the order.
My questions are:
1. What could have caused this? My charger is only less than 2 months old.
2. Would using alternative chargers harm the battery or the phone?
Thanks in advance

Firstly, this should have been posted in the Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Answers to your question:
1. Could be anything, from faulty charger out of the box but was working for a bit, to bad power socket, to lightning strike.
2. Using alternative charger won't harm your phone or battery. Maybe just untick Fast Charging when using other chargers.
Same issue

I had the same issue..the fast charger just wont charge my Note 4. Got the adapter and cable replaced. They didnt hve it in stock, had to wait a week. ..used the normal charger till them. Normal charger did its job, but took bit longer compared to the fast charger.
burning car charger, Note 4
I just purchased my Note 4, swapped out my sim and then connected it to my Belkin cigarette lighter/USB car charger.
5 minutes later travelling down a freeway ,when smoke started to pour out. I yanked out the chord and
still managed to burn myself with it. 2 weeks later I really needed to charge my phone while camping
thinking/hoping it was my old chargers fault. I also turned off fast charge and it blew my car's fuses and it got
super hot again within seconds. Is this normal. Do I need to know which USB's I can use and where?
Or is my phone busted?
just use a wireless qi charger. it avoids all these issues and no wires to worry about.
fast charging is bad for your phone and battery anyway.
So I cant charge my phone while I drive?
just get a wireless qi car charger cradle.
Has anybody used one of these?
Before I buy one I was wandering if anyone has used one and if its any good?

I just upgraded from an S6 Edge to an S6 Edge+ and I've noticed that my phone is having trouble with fast charging. When I plug it in, it simply says "Cable charging". I have to unplug it and plug it back in 3-12 times to get it to say "Fast charging". I'm using the OEM Samsung fast chargers (the one that came with my S6 Edge+ as well as the one that came with my old S6 Edge). My old S6 Edge never had an issue like this.
Is it just my phone, or is this a wide software bug on the new S6 Edge+'s? Trying to determine whether I need to swap my phone at T-Mobile for a new one. Thanks!
Make sure your cable is plugged into the wall charger all the way.

Yep, that was the first thing I checked. Having the same issue with two OEM chargers.

I was going through AndroidCentral the other day when I saw one thread on this. It could definitely be a phone issue. Try using any other 3rd party Qualcomm Certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger (if you have), and verify. Also, since the phone is new, I would suggest you to get a replacement eitherway even if its just the faulty charger. When you spend $900, its their job to give you the 100% working product, don't settle.
I noticed that with my phone as well. Using cable and charger that came with phone and it does not show up as adaptive fast charging like my note 4 did.

Yeah I had the same problem it ended up being the cableit came with. I've tried different cable and it works fine not sure why my cable went bad.

Cable plays a crucial role while charging. My years old nokia cable (which had worked flawlessly since then) went bad now and it takes 3 times the usual charging time. You can always get it changed from your retailer though! You get 6 Months warranty with inbox accessories.
I have original samsung (from box) ac charger with "cable" which is crazy connecting/disconnecting all the time. So make sure that is not a cable.

Hi
I got the Samsung S-Pad charger which the shop states it's for S6 and Samsung states it's for S5, but it's charging my S7 just fine. Using the original charger for my S7 for it. Could it damage the battery or are most of the wireless chargers identical?
Thanks in advance
You can't damage the battery. It's a myth. Use any qi charger you want. As long as your phone charges then you're good.

You can use any qi charger you like, it will not hurt your phone.
I'm using my Samsung charger I bought with my S6... It works fine... But takes almost 3 hours from a low battery... Really want the new Samsung fast charge wireless charger
I rest it on charger, and nothing, ever. Is there an option I need to enable or something? This is quite strange, and yes I am rooted if that makes a difference. Thank you for your help in advance.

Are you using the charger and cable that came with your phone?
What kind of charging pad is it?
Are you using a case?
I don't normally use a case but I have done some extensive testing on this phones wireless charging capabilities.
The following results are using the fast charger and cable that came with the phone and a Samsung wireless charging pad.
1. Without a case my phone charges fast wirelessly.
2. With a Spigen Thin Case the phone will charge but not fast wireless.
3. With a heavier thick case the phone doesn't charge wirelessly.
Using a generic Qi wireless charging pad the phone doesn't recognize fast wireless charging at all, even without a case. The phone does charge but at the standard charging rate.
Hope this helps.

It is a mobilepal wireless charging bank....I understand I won't get the fast charging capabilities....But I used it on my s6 edge for over a year, no problems. I have tried removing the case as well, and still nothing. I know it's not the charging pad because I can place my s6 on it and it starts charging immediately...The s7 on the other hand is a different story.

That wireless charger may not be compatible with the S7. Some of the older ones don't work. I had an older Samsung wireless charger, and my S7 didn't charge on it, but my Nexus 7 did.
When I got my S8+ yesterday the guy was telling me I could only use "1 piece" chargers and Sammy branded preferred. Claimed it was due to some shielding and fuse and that if I used another charger I could potentially harm the battery.
We went back today and the Mrs got the S8 and this guy said nothing ...
We have other fast chargers around the house from other phones that allow us to swap the usb cable part ... do you think it's ok to still use these w the new plug adapter that was in the box with them?

You should be fine. The phone may not charge as fast depending on the charger, but it certainly won't blow up (sorry, had to do it)
Sounds like nonsense to me, 'potentially' and 'harm' sound like salespeople talk. You should be fine.

That's bs. I still have the charger and cable from the V20 I had along with the ones from my last Note 7 and the electronics store I work at let me have the charger and cable from the LG G6 display we put out at work and I use that charger and cable in the car plugged into a small power inverter to charge it in the cat. They are all usb-c cables with adaptive fast charging blocks and all are 2 piece chargers. He was blowing smoke trying to sell you extra accessories.
Sent from my wickedly kewl Galaxy S8 using my fingers. Duh!!!
I'm using this currently. It's Bensun approved for charging the Nexus 6P and the USB C port on it is charging the S8 via fast charging now... I feel like a battery in 2017 should be fine?
