Hi there,
thinking about how the battery life of my Diamond could be stretched a bit I thought it might be a neat idea to shut of the phone at night (a.k.a. flight mode). But as I'm lazy and forgetting things I'd like to know if there's an app that can do that automatically in the background - like turning off the phone at 1am and back on at 7am.
Has anyone seen such a thing?

..sure with mortscript you are able to do this!
also with phonealarm or g-profile...
MM
I've been using phone alarm to do this for months now (including switching to 'work' mode when I'm in the office etc) works a treat and saves massive battery life
G-Profile
Make life easy and just get G-Profile.
Google it, and check it out.
AddInTimer is my current favorite for scheduling BT, Wifi, flight mode, backlight, mute.
SKScheMa used to be my choice, but I think it caused very serious stability issues on my HD. Took me months to narrow down.
Thanks for your help. G-Profile looks great, gonna test that out for sure. Looks like exactly what I need. Thanks again.
Hey folks i got my desire on wed and been plaing around a fair bit. one thing i've noticed is that i cant seem to get the clock to dsplay without hitting the power button. i find this feature pretty useful as i havnt worn a watch in years for this reason. is there an app anyone knows of that will show the time constantly when th screen is off? or even if i coul just hit the trackball or other button on the front, easier to get to than to the power button.
Also i have juice defender installed, i cant say ive noticed a large difference but i id have it installed sine the 2nd day, is it worth upgrading to juice ultimate? i see that the wifi ioption an others are only available in it.
many thanks for any help anyone has, tom
this screensaver is very nice....

Well, if you root you can make it so you can unlock the screen with the front buttons. I don't think it would be a good idea to keep the screen on always, it would drain your battery fast. If you just want a clock widget on your lock screen you can install wigetLocker.
edit: wow I failed to notice the thread is from April.....Oh well, Sorry
Hi guys,
Found that I had awful battery life today, using Galaxy Pack live wallpaper, and autobrightness (+5)
Is this due to the live wallpaper or why else would I get this problem?

That must be a really hard battery sucking wallpaper you got there mate. With only 2 h screen on I could last at least 2 days without charging.
Do you have s-voice on and wake up command? These were the only apps that consumed that much as I remember. Or did you run any battery consuming apps? It shouldn't be the wallpaper but you can still try yourself.
If you are on stock rom it could also be the KitKat update. I read a lot about it being pretty battery unfriendly.

Can you go one day without it and post your Battery stats? It's kinda hard to believe it is the wallpaper because:
1. Your screen was only on for 2-3 hours
2. The screen consumption is lower than Android OS and System
Does the wallpaper have any extra features?
Edit. Did you play or stay in the internet?

There are extra features, but I have turned these off.
Did use internet but not for long
I will try changing the wallpaper. Can't think what else it could be - my phone was warming up in my pocket, with nothing in recent apps. Also wouldn't a live wallpaper be included in OS and System rather than anywhere else?

It shouldn't be consuming when screen is off. Just checked mine:
4 hours on with screen consuming 47% and still 80% charged locked my phone consumes like 1% in 6 hours
(But I'm rooted and fully modded to your phones defense)
Edit. Unless you can say that it doesn't consume that much when not having the wallpaper I would guess it is a KitKat issue or your battery really has a problem
Final Question:
@ant2555 sorry I don't know since I was rooted since jelly bean I never had the chance to look into that. I just read a lot about it being a known 4.4.2 issue. The 4.4.3 update is said to get rid of that

Ok, I'll get back to you either tomorrow or the day after depending on results.
Final question for now, do you know what the common causes of "android system" using that much battery are?
I've been using that wallpaper for almost 4 months without a drain issue. It's not the wallpaper. (maxelus.net is one of the better wallpaper devs. You need not worry about these causing a drain.)
The wallpaper does have a setting for battery saving in its settings (all the way at the bottom as 'Battery. Wallpaper Speed'). Try turning that on.
From the looks of it, you have Sync turned on. Turn if off. (drag down the notidication bar and scroll to the Sync toggle.)
Also, turn off all location services (In settings and in Google Settings(that's an app)).
And try disabling all sounds under settings --> device --> Sounds --> system. (You can elave haptic feedback on if you want.)
Do you have an SD card in your phone?
I found that my Note 3 lasts longer without one. It might just be a problem with certain brands, but mine would heat up considerably and cause the indexing service to go into overdrive.
If you have an SD card, try running your phone without it for a little while and see if that makes a difference.
I discovered that after charging my phone a couple of times I get a false charge which can imitate battery drain, try this code *#0228# after hitting it click Quick Start, hope that helps, if not do a complete wipe for all apps and only download trusted ones. Good luck
Android is and kernel killing my battery. Don't know what has changed in last few days but I'm getting 5 to 8 hours on a full charge

Yeah, Sync was turned on and I'll try turning it, and location services off (location was on power saver mode before)
However take a look at some of my battery stats they seem very odd.
One day they seem perfectly normal: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0pprase2tqiwcq8/2014-06-12 22.38.17.png
https://www.dropbox.com/s/11pe6ozrkhuqvi7/2014-06-11 17.20.21.png
and the next they seem awful with odd draining issues, and heating up in my pocket during the day. One possible cause I thought of was because the phone was on "increased touch sensitivity mode" so may have been turning itself on in my pocket all day.
Here are some bad days:

Ahh, Google Services. That annoying bugger again. It's been causing problems on several devices.
What you can try:
Google Settings > Ads > turn on "Opt out of interest-based ads"
Disable back up under Settings > Backup & reset > uncheck "Back up my data".
Turn off Google Now.
And you can try uninstalling the recent updates to Google Play Services under settings > Applicationmanager > All > Google Play Services. Force stop, clear data, clear cache and uninstall updates (be sure to turn off auto update apps in Google Play Store first or it'll come back nearly instantly).
So I have a bazaar question. I'm going out in the desert for week and want to use my s5 as a camera only. Is there a way to disable EVERYTHING so just the camera works to conserve battery? I know I can do airplane mode and such, but I'm sure there's still things going on in the background that will drain the battery.
Thanks in advance!

In setting
go to each app you don't want and disable it
the disable option is beside force close. for 4.0+

Last time I been to a bazaar I bought some smoked ham and sausages.
I think you meant "bizarre"
On another note I like that you are going to a desert. It would have been awfully strange if you were to take pictures of dessert using only your S5 for a week.

Thank you, that was so very helpful in letting me know that my text to speech software sucks and that I should freeze it.
As to the other post. Yeah I went in and did that. I just didn't know if there was a batch way to disable all the safe things to disable then unfreeze them again when I'm back in civilization and will need them again.
Sounds like a pain in the butt to disable then re-enable everything, there's an option in developer options that don't keep any background activities active, might help.
Just take your Sim card out and throw airplane mode on.
Just buy the camera for the desert and there will be no unnecessary processes
Hi guys
i purchased v20 few days ago n i m loving the 2nd screen. however, i cant find the settings for the 2nd screen to switch on (when the main screen is OFF) only when there is notification. I can either set it to either ON or OFF all the time (though i realise the proximity sensor will switch it off if it is in my pocket - correct me if i m wrong)
Furthermore, does the 360 live wallpaper drains as much battery as usual live wallpaper?
Sorry for my terrible english, thanks for the help !

I don't think there is a setting for this but there is a workaround to get the effect you want.
1) Set a second screen signature to just a space
2) Set the default second screen to signature when the screen is off
The result will appear as if both screens are off until a notification is received. The only time it is apparent that the second screen is still on with this setup is in a very dark room but this is the closest you will be able to get what you are looking for and will keep battery drain to a minimum.
I don't know about the live wallpaper question but I suspect it would slightly drain the battery more because it needs to keep the device sensors active/working harder to react to your movements.

1) correct me if i m wrong - if the signature is blank, wouldn't the backlight of the 2nd screen still remains on?
2) i switch off the sensor for the 360 lwp, it will only animate by itself. i suppose that will help abit?

1) Yes, but it is really only noticeable at night or in a very dark room. Currently, it's the best option available and is only a workaround.
2) I suppose in that case, it probably wouldn't drain the battery any quicker than a live wallpaper would.

just 1 more question - i dont mind if there is still backlight on the 2nd screen - but can it actually save some battery juice by leaving it blank with backlight on? (i dont really understand how all these screens work - i thought only AMOLED benefit from black screen?)

My understanding is that with the newer panels, they are somewhat similar to how AMOLEDs work in the sense that brighter/active pixels will draw more power than not having anything shown.
My limited experience/testing with the phone has shown the same but more thorough and consistent test would need to be done to confirm if it's actually true.
Considering the backlight will be on in either case, it will still consume more than an AMOLED display when nothing is shown.

This is a feature I would love to have...
To activate the 2nd screen only when there is notification. I don't really see a use for having the clock shown always.
Hope some developers will find a way.
Maybe the always on is possible whit the OEM case. Check the video [YOUTUBE]https://youtu.be/PagmYqgNzp8/[YOUTUBE]
