Hi,
Has anyone had the problem before, that when your screen switches off or goes in to standby, the Data Connection is lost.
Is there a fix for this?
Your help is much appreciated.
same here
I have the same "problem".
This is annoying since I use an app called Trackr, which displays live gps position.
you can change this with advanced config
I checked through all the configurations in advanced config and I dont see any relevant setting for keeping my connection "alive" even when my phone goes in to standby mode.
Could you point me to the right configuration? I might be overlooking it.

navigate to network->turn off wi-fi if no activity and change it to No
You could use Diamond Tweak for it. Setting 7.1 in this program allows you to keep WiFi running in standby mode.
What about data connection but NOT wifi connection? The data connection to my phone service always disconnects itself when in standby. Maybe I should use a new radio?

I have a problem of my s4, the internet connection always hang, the H+ is on and the up arrow is shown, it need to wait around 20-30 seconds to resume the connection, but the signal is not very bad (3/4 signal) . Everytime when it resume the network, it will go down to 3g->H->H+, then the data will continue to download.

Same issue here too once I take airplane mode off the phone each morning guessing a software bug.

that happens to my phone too sometimes. It's so annoying. I'll use the browser to surf a sight and it just hangs out for a few seconds before the data arrows start flashing. once in a while it'll timeout. but for the most part the phone works great.

You mean when the problem occur, then turn on the airplane mode and off again to resume the signal?

so do you think we need to call customer service to check our S4?
I've got the same problem. Does it both when connected to wifi and when connected to 3g (4g is very spotty here). I have to exit out of the browser, restart the browser then it works. Doesn't matter which browser I use either.

you could try restoring it to stock! here is a link to a thread on how to restore all variants.

Does any one remember the cure for the WIFI issues on previous galaxy handsets it might be a similar issue im seeing on the S5.
When i return home the WIFI doesn't automatically connect it states "Network disconnected. Sign in again" in the pull down then when i click the notification it takes me to the WIFI setting and it states "Sign-in is required" if i click on the network and click connect its all happy again and connects!
Has any one else seen or solved this issue im seeing it on both mine and the Wife's S5 but everything else connects happily without a problem.

Same issue - Alernate FIX -
Had the same issue, tried the resolution of
Step 1 Go to the home screen on your phone.
Step 2 Select the telephone dial pad.
Step 3 Dial *#0011#
Step 4 Press the settings button on phone and select wifi.
Step 5 You should see the safe wifi button on so just press it so it turns off.
Reset connection (forget connection then established connection again) seem to work, but then battery life was horrible. Unfortunately didn't think it was a good trade and turned safe-mode back on. Working fine for awhile, then Network Disconnected alert, days later. So as a fix,
1. >Wifi >Advanced >Disable (uncheck) Smart network switch.
2. Forget connection, then establish connection again. Works no issues.
One of the benefits of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the battery life, why would I want to sacrifice that and have my battery dead in the late morning, hope this helps.

Hi guys i got my Lg V20 (H990ds) a week ago, but i just got the nanosim from two days.
Now i did notice that when I go out from home and I turn off the wifi the mobile data doesn't work at all. I can make phone calls and i can see the signal bar indicating 4G or 3G but there is not a really data connection, just like the phone is not capable of exchange any internet data (trough browser or apps).
And i did notice too that this issue it solves with just rebooting the phone.
So my question is, can be a software related problem? or I got i faulty unit?
Thanks

Yes, every time after I turn off the wifi, the mobile data doesn't work until I restart the phone
I just found out another thing, only if I select gsm/wcdma network mode the mobile data works after turn off the wifi, it seems that the problem is present only with the gsm/wcdma/LTE option. Any ideas?
