Hello
My fiance recently spilled coffee on her phone. It is all cleaned out now and working fine other than one thing. When you plug in a charging the phone instantly starts boot-looping over and over(whether the phone is off or on when plugging on). I am assuming I need a new charging port. Can anyone else confirm this is what I actually need. Also does anyone know where I can find a charging port to buy? I've found a few but they will take a long time to get. Right now I am using my phone(I have the same model) to charge her battery each night, then I put the battery back in her phone and it works fine.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have dug up my old charmer wanting to use it to learn to cook rom. However, before I was able to do anything, I flashed it to WM6.1 and then put it on the charger.
Since it is not my main device, I left it plugged in for 3 days. Now the LED light has gone off (even when I plugged it in using a few different USB charger!). The Charmer won't power up with just the battery or plugged in. Has anyone seen this problem? It is using the orignal battery and was working fine for a long while.
ROM: Probably not related to this at all but here go -> ChrBeck WM6.1.
Did I blew the charging circuit for leaving it plugged in too long?
Do you have a different battery to try? Otherwise: Use a 3V or 5V charger and connect it to the pins of the phone. The layout is here I'll search it for you and post it then soon.
Sorry have been on holidy for a few days.
Unfortunately I don't have another battery to test...
But I will give your other suggestion a go tomorrow after work. Will keep you posted. Thanks man!
EDITED: This is gonna sound a bit strange, I got another USB charger from my friend (It was the Wizard's) and it managed to bring my Charmer back to life as soon as I plugged it in (had left the device for a few days since first post). Then reverted back to my own charger and seems ok so far... So What on earth happened last week when it won't charge nor power up? May be the battery completely discharged?
I have a strange phenomenon. My battery only lasts a day so I plug it in every night. Yesterday, it was completely dead and I needed to use the black and red wire trick from a cut USB cord to charge the battery.
Everything was fine when I reinserted the battery and last night when I plugged it in the amber light came on ie it was charging and the little battery indicator said it was charging too. I turned the screen off, amber light was still on and I went to bed. This morning, I came downstairs to find the phone absolutely dead again.
I noticed the middle pin was bent forwards and have seen posts saying that this can be an issue, but I have not taken my battery out for at least a week so I am wondering if the middle pin really is the problem? I have straightened the middle pin and will try again.
Does anybody know if it could be anything else?
possibly as simple as a dead cell? ?? seeing as youve had to resort to the usb trick.
What kind of charger are you using? Usually when i use a non htc charger it doesnt work because it doesnt have enough current to charge it while its on. Maybe its the charger?
cmacia06 - its the standard HTC charger that came in the box. Also, which ICS Rom are you running and is it fully functional and worth un upgrade to yet?
Your might also want to check the pins to the battery compartment and make sure that they makeing good contact. Im running spartstars ics 1.4. It seems to be very smooth and little buggs. I guess the only real issue is thr camera not working. But other than that the rom is great. Just no flash player or youtube yet.
Last week my phone started not charging properly, with the charging cable plugged in it would seem to randomly stop and then start charging again. I tried a few different chargers and it was the same, sometimes it would charge and others times not, but eventually it stopped charging all together and the battery died.
I thought the charging port might have gone faulty, so I ordered a new one and replaced it, but it still didn't charge. So, I bought a new battery and tried that, the phone booted up fine and worked but again, it still wouldn't charge.
I'm assuming something must be broken on the motherboard, but I don't really want to spend any more on it and the phone is out of warranty,so I just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions I can try before I have to sell it for parts?
Cheers
IDK but maybe small smd fuses..

My phone seems to be working fine as long as I have it permanently plugged in to a power source. The battery, however, will not charge. I have tried replacing the battery, but the same problem persists. I also tried replacing the usb charge port, but the parts I've gotten for it refuses to even turn on the phone. Can someone point me to a reference that might help me figure out which pieces might need replacing/checking to get the battery to start charging again?
Thanks.
I just bought a new charger port for my phone as well to. It should be in the mail tomorrow. I also ordered a brand new battery I installed that today because my charging port Works to a degree as long as I have it pushed up. Hopefully I do not have the same charging issue as you do. I bought mine on eBay both of them.
Hi,
I have a pretty new Motorola G8 that unfortunately I dropped into water.
I got it out immediately and it seemed fine.
Soon after I charged it overnight and it got to 100% but in the morning I noticed that when connected to the charger it was very, very hot.
When I unplugged it the temperature went to normal and the phone worked ok, but now it won't charge anymore.
I have turned if off an on again, used a different socket for the charger, tried a different charger etc - nothing.
The one thing I cannot try is chanigng the cable as it uses a USB-C cable and I have only got one of these.
Anyone with an idea of what else I could try or what the problem might be?
Is is possible that there was still moisture inside and that charging it "moist" could have damaged the battery?
Many thanks!
