Hello all, quick question. I have a VPN router that my shield connects to (via wireless), but am having difficulty connecting to Netflix, I know Netflix have stopped allowing connection via proxies or VPNs. If I connect to my non VPN router it works fine. So my question is that is there way I can automate my Shield so that when I launch the netflix app it connects to VPN wireless connection, and when I open another app it connects via my VPN router. I know there is the tasker app, but cant find it on the Android TV app store, so looking for alternatives. Any suggestions on how to automate this would be massively appreciated.
thank you
Install Tasker from web playstore... it works fine on the Shield TV.
Thank you for the reply. How to I get the to the web store. There is no web browser on it. Sorry for any stupid questions, only just got it and am playing about with it.

I believe you can install es file explorer from the android tv play store. it has a web browser in it. If not just google aptoide and download the aptoide app put it on a USB stick and transfer it over to your android tv. The aptoide app store will let you install anything that the playstore won't. Make cure you have the leanback launcher installed.
Cheers

I mean from a pc... go to play.google.com.... login... and then you can install apps to any compatible device by pressing install and selecting the destination device...
Is there a way to make sure Kodi doesn't update on me? Thanks.

Open play store, settings, turn off "auto update apps" should do the trick.
Heads up though: after some turmoil within the Kodi team, and Jodi's ever increasing frustration with box sellers and them catching heat for third party addons..... The lead developer(only developer) responsible for Android version left the team. Kodi didn't want to continue supporting Android versions in future releases so.... He left.
He did however, resume his "SPMC" app which is a fork of Kodi with many optimizations and feature improvements specifically for android devices. Can't find it on the AndroidTV or Leanback Play Store. But if you goto PlayStore on a PC, and search for "SPMC" you will find it and can click install, then select your Nexus Player. It will install in just a few minutes. Will show up on your AndroidTV homepage.
Alternatively, you can web search "SPMC" and goto its website and download, view changelog, etc.
It also now supports Android TV suggested content on the home screen. This means that if you have movies/TV Shows added to your library, they will appear as suggestions much like the YouTube app, or Hulu, or Netflix, etc.
Pretty cool feature?

Will any of the kodi add-ons work with his new program or is this a totally different thing?
It is a Kofi fork, which means it is built from the same open source code from Kofi. He essentially left Kiri and took his plans and optimization ideas and is continuing the work as SPMC. Yes, all addons will work just the same

Thanks for the info, I didn't even know this program existed and yes the addons work great.
I've rooted and installed the play store and compatible Google apps using the absolute newest of each version still compatible with the HD10. My OS is 5.5.0.0. (Almost) Everything is working GREAT! I'm trying to use Skype for Business so I can tailor the tablet for work. Unfortunately, the version that I get off the play store let me put in all my account details and walked me through the "tour" and then when it loads my account and attempts to connect, it crashes. Anyone else experience this or have a workaround. My next step is pulling a slightly older version off APKMirror and trying that.
So, I've tried multiple older versions off of APKMirror and they all do the same. It just loads my conversations for a brief moment and then crashes.

I read my assembled "Feedly" feeds using:
1. Nextgen on Windows
2. Feedly app on my Samsung phone
After installing the "Amazon Fire Toolbox v6.5" on my Fire HD 10 (2019) and enabling the Google Play store, I installed the Feedly app. Unfortunately it is not compatible and just "hangs."
I know that I can simply use a browser and go to Feedly.com, but would prefer using an app.
Are any of you Feedly users? If so, what app on your Fire tablet works best for you?
Thanks in advance.
I was able to get Feedly working on my HD10 (2019) by installing the older version (62.0.2) of Feedly from APKPure, at https://apkpure.com/feedly-smarter-news-reader/com.devhd.feedly. The version of Feedly on Google Play is 72.0.0.
Thank you! I will give that a try. I was earlier able to download and install "Feedly Classic" from the Google Play Store but prefer the newer version. Regardless, at least there are some options.
Thanks again!
Works for me from play store v 72. I didn't use the toolbox this time maybe disabled something feedly needs?
Hey,
i recently bought SuperDisplay and wanted to use it with my firetv but it's not working like it supposed 2. After sideloading and starting it just opens up and closes immediatly. What am i missing here? the Play store? is it even possible to install the playstore to the Fire TV Cube 2nd and if yes without root?
thanks in advance
Is no one able to help me out?
I don't know if its a paid app is not, but most of the apps on the play store rely on the Google Play Services which aren't available on FireTV.
It could be that its not compatible with the android version or display size.
It could also that the file is in splits, which some of the newer ones are, and you are pulling the base only and not the splits, which will DEFINITELY crash the app.
In any of the cases you have to provide the logcat. But my guess is the last one
