G935U Nougat

Hi All,
I'm a little confused as to where us U firmware users stand with Nougat. I've seen differing reports of what the known plan is with this. I believe some are saying we're waiting for Verizon to release it to the 935u, otherwise I'm reading that we're on a quarterly update schedule and won't be seeing anything until April.
I bought my 935V from VZW and flashed over to unrooted U firmware - actually by using the normal flash method and then doing a firmware restore from verizon's utility to get full unroot. Not exactly a typical method, but it gave me peace of mind knowing everything is completely stock U.
Everything is running great so I'm not in urgent need of an update for any reason, but would like to see some new features.
Lemme know if anyone has any clues here as for what to expect. Thanks in advance!
Not exactly sure what you mean by going full "unroot".. unless you ment, you wanted the U firmware for a smoother "root" can you please clarify bubby?

But anyway, lol. You are correct of the U FW being released somewhere around April. Verizon isn't responsible for U firmware, Samsung is.. I'm actually surprised Verizon released before U

Good to know. Thanks.
I had to root in order to flash U FW, but the root process we have for GS7 is really process heavy and battery draining. I wanted an unrooted version of the U firmware with no bullsh*t and good battery life so I unrooted and restored using the software tool.

Ah Gotcha, sorry I misunderstood the op. Maybe give the T or V carrier FW a spin till U gets released? I haven't upgraded yet but am tempted. Been using stang 5.0 rom and been pretty impressed. I'd say I would recommend it even with the faults of the eng boot.
I also believe I seen a "no root no bull**** playstore Nougat rom" by jkruse, or something to that effect. If that's something your into
Lots of cry babies over in the Samsung forums. I can see why everyone is so upset but Samsung never promised faster updates for unlocked variants over carrier models. I'm content waiting at least until April for the nougat release of the 935u. Screw Verizon bloat. It's not worth putting up with it for Nougat.
There are some articles with Samsung's new commitment for monthly security updates on unlocked devices. This should mean that the 935U will get Nougat this month with March security update.

Well, sorta agree with you. I'm patiently waiting for the U update to 7.0, but in the mean time I'm running the Verizon update on a backup device. I can't really enjoy 6.0.1's UI after having Grace UX.

Smart Switch PC can also do an in-place update to 7.0. It's the April security patch.
I've downloaded the nougat U firmware and can't get it to install over the latest VZW firmware, the one that came out in the last few days. Has anyone been able to, if so please outline your steps.
I have U firmware on Verizon s7 edge works as charm. Use latest Odin to install the firmware

I would flash the full Odin package for U 6.0 and then use Smart Switch PC to update to 7.0.

Can anyone on an UDP confirm if you can tether the unlocked software of the 935u on 7.0 nougat now that it is out?

Yes i have the original UDP and the tethering option works. How ever i cant get the verizon video calling to work??
So from what I'm getting, to install (if I'm on Verizon Nougat), flash Unlocked 6.0 first, then smart switch to 7.0? Also, I read that someone had been having issues with using LTE while in a phone call, can anyone confirm? And what happened to all the other fix files, since I remember the first time flashing the unlocked software required more subsequent flashes as well.

ADB updates from server for N950U-ATT version

Thanks to @Venom0642 and @DanMc85 i was able to get updates for Note 8 AT&T version. All updates are 100% AT&T stock from servers and can be apply by ADB sideloads. I will try to keep them up to date. Some updates are released and other not, so it is yours and only your choice if you want to apply them or not. Remember there is no updates to unreleased updates and if you apply unreleased update and AT&T will go with different one then you applied, you will have to ODIN back to stock and start again. So choose wisely.
Good Luck
Unreleased :
N950USQU2BQJA-to-S2BQK2 - Link is UP thanks to @Venom0642
Released :
11/14/2017 with October security N950USQU1AQIA-to-U2BQJA
On 9/25/2017 with August 1st security : N950USQU1AQH7-to-U1AQIA
EDIT- Warning : all ADB sideload will wipe your device, so make sure you have backup
Glad You Got this Going Here!:good:
Updates
I got the Note 8 unlocked and flashed the att version.
The version you have here is the latest and my phone is telling me I have the latest already. Is there a fix for this? It will be a pain to have to sideload and restore every time I want to update the phone. Wonder if the unlocked phone is checking Samsung's servers and not AT&Ts. Any ideas on this? Also where do you get the update files? Thanks for any help.

For AT&T SM-N950U1 users who flash the carrier Firmware have to sideload updates...this only affects AT&T users AFAIK. All the files are in different threads in this section...you can choose to flash complete AQIA (latest) or AQH7 (original) and then sideload the update AQH7 to AQIA as found in the threads...there may be an apn setting for OTA updates to work that you can edit though....adb sideload is simple enough though.
One may try just putting the update listed in op on their internal storage and boot to recovery and select apply update...to avoid wiping

Anyone got a change log for it?
Also if there ends up being a Note 8 Oreo beta do you think we could find the files the same way as this?

This is unreleased update and there is no change log as of yet, plus we don't know if this will be official release.
I think Oreo will be held on Samsung servers not on AT&T, but if on At&T I will get it.

OK. I have another update and is N950USQU1AQIA-to-U2BQJA . Uploading to Google drive but seem like bootloader is updated to 2 and firmware revision to B. So if anybody is willing to take one for team since we don't know if you can downgrade from bootloader 2 to 1 if you need it. I will post link shortly.

Oreo to Nougat on SM-G950W Snapdragon

I hate the Oreo update. I'm on Telus in Canada with Snapdragon and I was wondering if I would be able to downgrade back to nougat G950WVLU2AQK7 with Odin safely without a brick.

Hey buddy, do you mind telling me what do you hate about the update?
Is it buggy?
I have a friend that wanted to update to Oreo on a Telus s8 but I told him about your post and he hesitated.
But, I wish you good luck finding a way to downgrade.

Yep, US Snapdragon S8+ for Sprint has been released. Finally a Snapdragon model! Maybe the rest of the models will follow. Not published on Sammobile yet but by using the SamFirm.exe, I was able to download Android Pie for the S8+ (Sprint version).

S8+ on tmobile I installed the sprint update with the modded 3b Odin only two things to know first have the latest tmobile update downloaded from the updato firmware website so you can plug in the user data slot inn Odin with the tmobile one and second make sure you use csc home from the sprint update in the csc slot or you'll wipe your phone!
Got it last night on my GS8+ on ATT.

This can help others who do not want the receive the updated Interface / Android 9.0 Pie
under Settings >>> Developer Options >>> Auto Update System has been disabled.
under Settings >>> Software Update >>> Download Updates Automatically has been disabled.
This is the best option to prevent over night mandatory firmware updates that were common in the past.
