Launcher Hijack V4
Allows a custom launcher on Amazon Kindle Fire's and Fire TV's
An early, insert seasonally appropriate celebration here, present from me. Adds support for Fire TV devices and the new Fire Tablets. Enjoy.
Please find instructions for use here (https://github.com/BaronKiko/LauncherHijack/blob/master/HELP.md#fire-tablets). Adb required for first time setup on Fire TV's.
Find the latest release here (https://github.com/BaronKiko/LauncherHijack/releases). I'm working on Aptoide and F-Droid releases for those that prefer those methods. Hopefully in the next few days.
If you want to look at my rushed and sloppy code then feel free to look here (https://github.com/BaronKiko/LauncherHijack)

Feeling kind and want to donate? Find instructions here (https://github.com/BaronKiko/LauncherHijack/blob/master/README.md#donations)
Huge thanks to ParrotGeek1, Speeddymon and Urbanman2004.
ParrotGeek1 made V1 and without him I would have never started this project.
Speeddymon donated a 2018 Fire TV allowing me to implement Fire TV support. If you have a Fire TV you should thank him
Urbanman2004 created the lovely logo/app icon. Be sure to thank him too.
Finally I don't really check these forums often anymore so please head over to the github page and post there if you are having any issues. Usually I am pretty quick to respond there.

Cheers, I'm hoping a nice mod will come along to sort the links out and move it to the right place but it's better for now.

Indeed - happy to move if and when appropriate.
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you!
This is very nice. Thanks. I notice that about half the time when I press the home button from an app, I am taken to the recent apps screen instead of the home screen. Sometimes it takes multiple presses to get to the home screen. Just a side effect or is it a bug? Thanks.

I would call it a bug, it was present in the first version and as somebody in that thread mentioned turning animations off seems to make it more reliable but still not 100% (it works 9 times out of 10 for me with no animations). I could potentially make it more reliable by waiting longer before calling the launcher of choice but it would slow down every button press so I would rather not do so.
Thanks a lot man. It works on Fire 8 HD 2016
It's awesome to see V2 coming up! Just hope the 'recent' bug can be ironed out soon. Or is it possible to avoid that bug if rooted?

I doubt it can be fixed. Since the app is rootless, it is rather limited. Disabling animations in Developer Options helps, but not completely.

Yes, you are right though I tried that Animations scale, it doesn't fix the 'recent' menu issue.
What I can do currently is to root the device and set up Xposed with GravityBox module; then enable another Custom navigation to launch another launcher.

We will keep all bugs/fixes updated in the first few posts here.
Please, post a bug once. If you have a potential fix, PM me. I will test it and get it added to this post.
Let's not have a repeat of last time. If you can't use the search function, don't use our ROMs.
Also, if it's not posted in one of our posts, it's not an approved mod. We take absolutely zero responsibility for anything that happens.
Known Issues:
The DreamKernel (2.2.1) Packed in RC2 has no bluetooth. - Get the latest here.
There numerous graphical bugs, such as misalignment and colors being off. Please, unless it is affecting the usability of the phone, don't post them.
Pin screen and password unlock screen are sized incorrectly
Some fonts/images may appear a little fuzzy on the home screens. At this point, with the tools available, there isn't much we can do with it.
No Verizon VM notfications. Base ROM issue. It won't be fixed without a new leak.
Sense LWP is scaled wrong. - Ready for RC3
Video Playback buttons are off a little
Car dock needs scaled
Force close in music app.
No speed dial 2. - Ready for RC3
Camcorder only supports up to 14mbps recording. Anything higher will cause it to close.
No .wma Playback.
G-sensor Issue - Kernel Related.
Missing Flickr, Books, and Watch apps. - Mostly fixed for RC3
Bad strings in the Calendar Widget.
Twitter causing FC on phone calls.
Bad string in Gmail settings. - Fixed for RC3
If your screen is staying off, slow to turn back on, general weirdness when coming off a sleep state, try increasing your minimum clock speed. I have the best balance or performance/battery at 368/368 for screen off and 368/1.2 normal.
The Manage applications page is freaking out. See Below.
Patches:
Tranparent Pulldown and 5 Bar signal - This will not work with HTC skins at all. Only Use the stock skin if you flash this. Official BAMF mod.
Disable wake on Volume Courtesy of bp328i.
Looking for Netflix, My Verizon, or VVM? Arcanexvi put this little thread together to keep them all current and working for everyone.
Help! My Manage Applications page is freaking out!
The base leak, for whatever reason, has a serious problem with populating the applications list.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a 2 tone gray and green bar. There is a small animation that appears once everything is loaded above the gray portion.
DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT, modify any apps in any way shape or form if this has not appeared. Do not force stop, uninstall, clear data, or clear cache when they are flickering. This means the package has not been fully loaded and linked. You might think you are clearing data on Angry birds when in fact it is Accounts and settings.
I got a little overzealous on one last night and ended up having to do a complete wipe and reinstall.[/QUOTE]
Need help setting up Google Voice? Thank RootandBoot for these instructions!
RootandBoot said:
To use Google voice.
Get your new number from Google.
Download the Google voice app, skip the VM setup. Choose to make no calls from Google voice.
On your phone dial *71 and your Google number (that is call forward no answer) put the 1 infront of the area code.
That's it.
When someone leaves a VM it will show on your notification bar.

The RC1 thread was craziness this morning until it was closed. Some people don't know how to use the search feature and were acting like jerks to the devs. Just like in RC1 there will be known issues in RC2 (I'm sure) but people don't take the time to read through the thread. Things were being asked 100 times and too many people were *****ing for no good reason.
I do agree that this is the best ROM out there.
love the rom gentle man, keep up the good work. now just waiting for RC2 to drop.
**** i cant wait for sense 4.0 lol

I want a Galaxy S3, but my finance doesn't allow, so I want to at least have some functions of the Galaxy S3. I started sourcing for apps and tutorials, and yes I found them, but they are distributed everywhere on XDA forums, so I decide to compile them and write a tutorial.
This is a quick tutorial to help S2 users to achieve a level of functionality close to that of GIIIS3, including TouchWiz, Smart Stay, Popup Play, Burst Shots, S Voice, Direct Call, and hopefully more to update in the future. Credits go to all the developers mentioned.
Ripple Live Wallpaper
Still waiting for the S3 lockscreen to be ported onto S2, but we can still get a little fun out of the live wallpaper. There are so many versions out there, but I am so far most impressed with this Galaxy S3 Water Dandelion LWP.
APK is one provided by XDA member pratikverma28 and it comes with editable waves.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750988
I don't like the quality of the stock wallpaper, so I advise you use your own ones.
By far the best setting I have is as follow:
Quality: High
Refraction quality: Middle
Cycles: 3
Wave weight: 400
Spreading speed: Medium
Fade range: 100
Refractive: 20
Random creation: None
Ripples from CUSTOM ROM:
For i9100 SGS2, AllianceROM by XDA Senior Member Goldieking comes with a S3 Ripple lockscreen. You may want to give it a go.
TouchWizUX

Yes, they aren't for everyone, but definitely something to look at in the future. In fact, Tasker allows users to tailor-make your own functions, way ahead of S3, you can browse http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index

Well guys this will take Diablo's customizations to a whole new level. He is no longer changing apk's and little stuff like that. He is learning how to change it on a source level. This can make the rom faster and cleaner than at an apk level plus more things can be added and changed easier. Cant wait to see what he has waiting for us. Keep up the good work and the more you work with source the easier it will get.
If I wouldn't have activated the old evo on my dad's number I'd give it a good run through.

So Far - after a day of testing:
1)Is there 4G? - YES
2)Is there FFC,is the video/camera in color, does it tear?Does video record? - There is FFC, all in color, no tearing that I notice, video recording works great
3)Does it connect to wifi connect?Does it disconnect after setting it? - Yes, wifi works fine.
4)Does all the tweaks work? - No force closes so far so I assume the tweaks are working
5)Do you get bootloops? - NONE so far!
and etc,etc.
One thing I noticed is that there are three different Google Search Widgets to choose from.
This Rom is working great so far. This is my first time ever using ADW so I am getting used to it. I like the iSense music player... nice touch.Slide to lock lockscreen works good as well. ARE YOU SURE THIS IS A BETA?????

Thank You! The "actionbar design" name threw me off.
So far, no issues at all with this Rom.
Will you be adding in the beats audio manager? I can really tell the difference without it.

Beta closed and posted in android development. Thanks guys.
Might be a little late, but my Evo is up for any rom testing.
For those who dont know, Cyanogenmod has definitely modified the aosp browser apk so that it works. I extracted and installed it along with banks bookmark syn and it works perfectly. No broken bar at the top of the screen when using quick controls. History, incognito mode, and bookmarks all work.
What I did
Flashed Rom
Flashed gapps
Flashed banks bookmark sync
Boot up and setup
Move CyanogenMod's browser to system/app
Overwrite Old aosp browser and fix permissions
Reboot

So why the great excitement in OP?
Custom ROMs provide Browser since November. It's available to install from Play Store for few months already.
But who cares if one can't read tiny letters because chromium does not provide text wrap functionality like web kit used to before KitKat.
When someone opens new thread claiming he has "working" Browser people will think somebody finally implemented old web kit into Browser so it is independent from androids onboard chromium web view.
There's at least one thread about it already: Chromium Webview in 4.4 breaks the AOSP browser

You will understand if you use quick controls in the asop browser. Not many ppl use this thus it's not widely reported.
There's a graphical glitch on top of the address bar, so far non of the aosp browser I tried doesn't have it.
This is the first one with full working screen.
Also browsing history is a hit and miss thing, some browser has it, some browser doesn't. I don't know why.
This is the most complete browser for me till date, non working text wrap and flash I have already got used to it. It's ok not to have it now, but nice to have it in the future I hope.
I'm just a big fan of aosp browser that's why I'm so excited there's something fixed after such a long time.

Installed on stock rooted just fine along with bookmarks sync. Only issue I've seen is in the menu section the "find in page" selection is glitched and says "You have incorrectly attempted to.."

Reading the content in the OP would let them know what i was talking about. Complaints about broken graphics when using quick controls, problems with incognito, and history have been more popular with the average consumer.
I have Browser provided with SlimKat ROM and I haven't seen problems you described. Incognito was fixed about two m months ago. I've just checked, works fine. Though the lack of text wrapping after double tap to zoom prevents me from using it. And even if I force myself to read tiny letters on XDA posts them comes the moment when I want attach screen shot and...
I can't, another thing broken in chromium
All I can do to express my feelings about this is to totally refuse using Chrome, which Google is forcing on us since Nexus 4.
So I'm using Dolphin. It has it's own integrated web view engine so is independent from Chromium. It wraps text correctly, it's fast and it handles flash playback fine.
+1 for Dolphin!

I'm not alone!!!!!!
I TOO, have only used FULL SCREEN for the life of my phone and since I got a new note 3 with KitKat there has been a black bar on the top which I have not been able to remove.
Soooo many thanks for this. I cannot stand 100% of all the other browser's out there.
Edit: For some reason the font size stays at 100% and cannot be increased. Mainly on google search. Any advice?
ROOT IS HERE! Go get it! Tutorial is here. Post is here.
I noticed there a lot of people around here waiting fervently for the release of root--checking and rechecking the forums over and over. Fear not! For I have come up with the solution for you all!

Turbo Root Update
Are you stuck at work and want to know if we have root? Are you away from a computer? Did you just get in a car wreck and are laying there, taking your final breath, with only your phone in your hand, wondering, "Do we have root?" Then this is the app for you.
I was messing around with Google's new Material Design standards I decided to throw this together. It'll be updated the moment a root method is discovered.
Another note: this will only work only Droid Turbos.. I can add other models to the list upon request, however, I didn't make the app responsive, so it only looks right on 2560x1440 screens.
Enjoy.
EDIT: This will now work on ALL devices!
EDIT_2: I realized just now that I chose the same material design color as SuperSU and did the same icon design completely by accident. No correlation there, just sheer happenstance.
FINAL EDIT: A root method has been discovered and will be release shortly. The latest update of the app will point you to the root video so you can root whenever ad wherever. Thank you all for downloading!
Neat little app haha. Hopefully we wont need it for long!
However I must say this is in the wrong section of the forum, the more appropriate location would be -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps
Does it push a notification when the device gets rooted? Or will it just replace my xda refreshes with opening the app every 5 minutes?

I agree. I would have put it there, but no one will see it cause they are checking here for root. Thus the post in general.

I can add an update for it. I don't have a subscription to any push services currently so I'd to re-up for that.
I'll call it, the are-we-there-yet? App
Why not make it so others can keep tabs on it, too? I have an LG G3 and would like to know when the Turbo gets root.

I was limiting it because I didn't want a bunch of phones with 1920x1080 resolution wondering what the deal was cause I didn't make it responsive, but I think I will just update it. You convinced me.
Man, this is great... Genius. I check these threads lately about once or twice an hour, just waiting on good news. When I open a new tab, Chrome goes, "Oh, lemme guess... XDA Turbo General?" This is a time saver. Thank you, sir.

You're exactly the person I made it for! You are welcome!
Sad your effort cannot be easily installed on older moto's. We would not care about a skewed image of an unlock graphic!! Would not the ultra/Maxx be an easy one?
But what do I know about generating apk's.
Great idea anyway!!

At the office now, but when I get off tonight, I will be opening it to other devices.
The graphics won't be skewed, but rather they will be blown up. I will probably write in a line to scale the graphics accordingly on smaller res phones when I update it this evening. :good:

Kinda curious why you are decompiling my apk.
Been bouncing around trying some different things. Noted that the Corona SDK used lua-- a language I had previously used in the form of eLua to program microcontrollers. However, 80% of the code draws off of Corona's predefined functions which makes it feel like a "copy and paste fest". I also remember reading that a lot of WoW addons were coded in lua (easily embed-able) which spiked my curiousity. I'll have to say though, it is incredibly simple to use.

Doesn't everyone do that?
Check out NativeScript when you get a chance.

Actually I've noticed a few online games now have used lua in encrypted game files (to prevent hackings and game mods, but lets face it someone is going to crack it at some point) not just add-ons.
Just wondering, how does it work? Do you just monitor XDA for "root" threads?
