Why is there a lack of roms for 920-W8 - Galaxy S6 General

Is it because lack of interest or just now being developed on?

The international models always see more love custom ROM wise then the other models like the Canadian variant. I've got a stock Canadian ROM in the T-Mobile section if you wanted to check it out it doesn't have much to it, pretty much just rooted stock, but I will be releasing a Nougat based one when we get an update to 7.0! Cheers!

[Q] Galaxy S5 European variants - rooting/modding

Hi,
I'm looking for some information about which variants of Galaxy S5 are available in EU (SM-G900F, SM-G900T/A... any other ones?) and what the differences between them are. Are there any variants that were not rooted yet? Are any of the available variants are likely to receive less support from the modding community (which, if I'm not mistaken, was the case with 3G only variant of Galaxy S4).
I will most likely be purchasing S5 within next few weeks and since I cannot stand TW rooting and flashing a custom ROM will be the first thing I'll do so I would like to know if there's anything that I should be aware of.
Thanks!

What is the best variant to buy for root/custom roms and why?

Which GSM GS5 variant is the best to buy (Unlocked on amazon, etc.) for ease of root/custom roms? Why?
I want to buy a new unlocked device online and can't seem to find a decent guide on the differences between the varoius models of the S5.
Thanks in advance!

get the G-900F support almost all custom roms
G900F is the global variant so yeah... I also recommend getting that variant.
I have the w8. It is good very easy to root. It seems to be able to use a lot of roms except none of the ones for the h model. The bad thing is not being able to get 32gb version imo
Dont buy g900h. It does not have any AOSP custom roms or even a proper custom rom except deodexed roms.
Xposed for lollipop doesnt work well with stock samsung touchwiz hence even a rooted g900h wont be able to take advantage of it.

Pros and Cons of ROM's from other variants

With the S5 devices with the eMMC 15 chip to aquire an unlocked bootloader, which ROM's from other variants would they be able to use without issues. Just trying to get a thread going for users and Dev's to share their opinions for others to gain knowledge from. Along with Pro's and Con's and 'how to's'. Happy ROM'n
T-Mobile variant seems to be the most supported ROM-wise. It's not locked down to 5.0 TW ROM's like the G900V (Verizon Variant).
The Verizon variant is the most locked down.
That is the question and for any helpful users to post.. Which T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T(if any) and other variant ROM's can we "safely" install on our device. And what are the Pro's and Con's and the fixes(if any).... i guess this is more like a R&D thread to where everyone can post anything that may be helpful to people having questions of which ROM is suitable since we're now new to the unlocked bootloader and hoping more(the eMMC 11's) will be able to be unlocked as well. I'm pretty new as far as setting up a "guide" type thread. But as info is passed out, I'll try to update the thread for information of the ROM's and Pro's and Con's about them.

Well now that we have an unlockable bootloader... Well, that has to go to AT&T now
To my knowledge, most variants use a generic G900F rom, because those carriers strictly use GSM bands. Verizon and AT&T use CDMA bands, which aren't fully supported in these roms. @jrkruse has released patches (thanks ) that will help with compatibility, but I think these are confined to 5.X at the moment.
I **think** there may be some modifications made to Verizon & AT&T roms regarding firmware, but I can't be sure. It seemed there was more than just CDMA support in the zips provided by JrKruse.
When flashing a G900F rom (should be safe) without patching, you'll probably only have glitchy and cutting out 4G/LTE, with no calling or SMS. Some modifications of the APN settings can maybe help a little, not much. The use of third-party texting apps has been shown to provide some support, but not complete.
Of course, all of this is just based on my strange reasoning, I could be completely wrong on some parts.
Besides cell services, these roms will work fine. Quite fast, too.
As I have stated in the other thread, if a rom is 6.0 and not touchwiz as long as it has a dev build it will boot and work without much more than verifying the apns. 6.0 Touchwiz is simply a no go, just dont try it. It is not worth the headache to get it to work.
I know cm, aokp, aicp, and Resurrection remix all have dev builds there is a couple of others that I think but havent really looked.
@camcorder123 ATT doesnt use cdma technology, they were just dicks and locked the bootloader like Verizon.
@limeaide Oops, you're right about ATT. Sure, a dev build will be easy to run, the problem is that nobody makes them. We've got a few ported but no official developers (from what I know) are actively developing for the phone. That'll probably start up sometime soon but until then we need to find a way to make the generic roms work.
Upon further research, I think it's gonna be a *tad* harder to get G900F roms to work than I thought. The reason only LTE works is because the LTE standard requires a sim card, so there's no problem in getting the phone to read the card and connect to the tower. But, CDMA is separate from the LTE standard - each phone is whitelisted on Verizon's servers (I'm assuming with the IMEI number) and does not need a sim card to access voice and SMS. This is unlike GSM, where everything is through the sim.
So I dunno, we might be stuck for a while. I wouldn't flash roms made for variants other than the KLTE edition, it might be the same outcome even though they may support CDMA.

7.0 for AT&T?

It's been awhile since I have owned a Samsung and I'm about to get a Note 4 so I was wondering what Android 7.0 Roms are out that will work with the AT&T Snapdragon model. I see Roms for all the international models and even the T-Mobile variants but I don't see anything for the AT&T variant. I will have to brush up on my flashing and Rom'ing skills as it's been too long since I have done it but I am familiar with doing all this. Thanks guys.

There is no custom ROMs for at&t model to be honest. At&t lock there devices down completely so at present there is no root, no twrp and no ROMs. Dont think there ever will be
callumbr1 , yeah, I have been doing allot of research and it's very disappointing. But there is always getting a t mobile device unlocked and still being able to enjoy some Nougat love.....

So I'm looking to purchase a Galaxy S8 which model is best for root?

So I'm looking to pick up a Galaxy S8 because it seems to have more development than my Pixel XL but I would like to know any recommendations on which Model is the best for unlocking and rooting/custom roms I have T-Mobile in the USA so it would be preferable to be compatible with that carrier

There is the SamPWND method for rooting it includes using adb t though, as far as custom roms there are none, we have locked bootloader's and it doesn't look like that'll change any time soon. Also once rooted, you can only charge to 80% only. The best we've got are the Oreo beta firmware, that's about it. The only one that has custom roms is the international version G950F but from what I've seen it doesn't work well on US networks.
S8 does have a handful of ROMs but as of now, there's not even an official LineageOS ROM for S8. Surely pixels are bound to have several devs contributing. One more thing, s9 is just a few months away, so I'd rather wait if I were you.
get the exynos version if you want root the snapdragon root is very limited and there are hardly an roms for it. i have a g950f i use the batman rom and the notorious kernal.
