Issue with Pandora closing when screen sleeps - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I've been having a problem recently work Pandora on my Axon 7. Music streams without any problems when the app is open or running in the background, but if I sleep the display the app stops running. Even if the app was open as on-screen. This doesn't with any of my other music steaming or player apps. I did a bit of research and found that power saving settings can closer it but this happens even of I turn off Smart power-saves and all power saving settings/policies. Has anyone r run into this before on their A7 or even another phone or is this normal behavior for Pandora?

What firmware you on,
I believe there was an issue on b29 or 27, the power saver settings didn't really work as in background app killing, it just killed everything lol
Have a look in the thread somewhere, can't remember where i read it

I'm on B29. This doesn't happen with all apps so I don't know why the power settings would be affecting it, especially if I shut the power saving settings off

Screen Not Dimming With Auto Shut Off Disabled?

Please bear with me as this may be a dumb newbie question. I searched every post on the Imagio section here and at PPC and was unable to find an answer.
Got the Imagio for my wife and she's loving it (we had Storms previously- bad, bad mojo). She uses Groovefish to stream music and the stock dimmer setting will shut down the player after the time limit is reached. No problem, right? Changed the setting to stop this (never auto shut down on battery power).
Now, the screen will dim somewhat when left idle, but never shuts down all the way. It's dim but still active. She's been having to change the setting every time in order to not kill the battery.
Should the screen power down all the way while leaving the device active (like hitting the "shut off screen option" after holding the end button)? If not, is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide. I've done nothing but Blackberries for years and this is my first real foray into WinMo.
Try to check the power settings. Go to the Settings Tab and push All settings at the bottom. From there go to System > Power > then click the Advanced tab. That should have settings to turn off the screen after 1 min or 30 seconds.
Thanks for the quick reply. I probably should have been a bit more clear.
It is in that menu that I have been manipulating the settings. There are two options for battery power. There is one to "turn off backlight" after x amount of time, the other is to "turn off device". With backlight set to 30 (or whatever) and device disabled, the screen never completely goes off.
It functions properly with "turn device off" enabled, but interrupts Groovefish when playing. This does not interfere with the native TF3D media player. While its not the end of the world if she ends up having to change that setting to use the program, it would be nice to be able to disable the screen with a partial shutdown (and extra battery drain when using that application).
Cheers!
Thats interesting, seems like its the program thats doing that. I have Opera, FM radio, email client, etc. running all day without it crashing. I have seen this before with Internet Explorer where i would leave it running connected to a website. then when i check back IE is gone and i have to start it again. By any chances is this a website or an installable app that you are using?
Groovefish is a streaming music client that is installed on the device
BTW, it is incredibly cool if you don't have it yet. Stream just about any song you want for free (legally).

I use g-trigger to shake my phone to turn off the display works great! Just disable the shake to turn it back on.
I'll give it a shot and see if the application stays running. Many thanks!
Actually I think backlight off is happening when it "dims". You need the screen to go off, not just the backlight. Try using xdaShutdown to go into Lightsout mode and see if that works for you. The program can be found here:

How to turn off screen back light in opera?

Hi everyone,
first-time poster here, so 'hello' I fear I may be posting quite a bit here now that i've chopped in my iPhone 3G for the Leo...baptism of fire!
I used to use a free app - FStream on the iPhone to stream radio stations, it worked great and I could lock the phone and turn the backlight off when it was running to save battery.
On the HD2 I can't find any free radio apps yet and i'm using opera to open the BBC iplayer to play stations, but I can't seem to minimise it and keep it playing and I can't turn the backlight off ever when it's running. The batteries lasting just a couple of hours over WiFi! Any ideas how to turn the backlight off or where I can get a radio player app that's good?
Cheers all
Have you tried pressing the "on/off" button once? that's the sleep mode, maybe the app still runs in the background? can't try it right now because I'm syncing my phone. but I guess it sends opera to sleep aswell.
there was a tool, I have to look it up. it was quite new and seemed brilliant. I'll let you know if I find it.
EDIT: Well I started the music player and pressed the "on/off" once to turn the screen off and the music still plays so opera should play too.

Tasker app from the market.

Sorry guys found a previous thread in another forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743861
Mods please delete.
I just bought the tasker app and figured I would let people know how its working for me, and to solicit suggestions for things I can do with it.
background:
Its a very good app that allows you to script the behavior of the phone based on a very large set of events or states.
My initial use:
As previously mentioned on this board the bluetooth streaming volume is not the loudest, so I always end up turning up the volume for bluetooth. Then when I plugin my headphones I destroy my eardrums.
So I setup a task that when I connect to my bluetooth car stereo, it automatically sets the volume to max and turns off wifi for good measure.
I have another task that when I plugin headphones, it sets the volume to 60% and opens the doubletwist music player.
Finally I setup the standard battery task so that when my battery gets to 20% it turns of all the GPS, wifi, and bluetooth radios, as well as dimming my screen.
Anyone else have this app and have something cool they have setup using it? I have heard of silent mode when the handset is placed flat facedown, which i thought was unique.
I have had it for a few days and am playing around with it. I have 2 tasks so far. First is to go to silent mode when face down. This is especially nice since I charge it overnight by my bed and don't want notifications (emails etc) waking me up so I have been just turning silent mode on at night and off in the morning. Sometime forgetting to turn on in the morning.
The 2nd task is to read the email sender and subject aloud when I am in the car and it is connected to my car stereo via bluetooth. I like the wifi off setting you did. I may do the same.
I also noticed that when listening to streaming through bluetooth with the wifi on but not connected to an ap, I get "skips" every once in awhile. Turning off wifi fixes it so I may set it to turn off wifi when streaming bluetooth audio.
Couple issues I have had. If the phone is in "standby" (pushing the power button) tasker won't go to silent mode. Also, I tried to make the screen go off when face down as well but it doesn't work. Apparently tasker can not turn the screen off but you are supposed to be able to change the timeout to as little as 7 seconds. I set that up but instead of the screen going off it just dims. Not sure of the issue.
I am interested in what others are doing so post the info.
I have two keyboards i really like in 2 different orientations.
Droid X keyboard:
its sweet autocorrections and large real estate makes it ideal for two thumb typing in landscape
swype:
slower than droid X keyboard in landscape, but in portrait, this is possibly the fastest/most accurate keyboard around.
I tried to set it up so that i could change my keyboards depending on the orientation, but i could not figure it out
im also for an app that turns your screen off with a timer (in the background). and have that work when you turn your screen downward./
any with either of these would be greatly appreciated.

Problem GPS apps like Strava & Runtastic stops functionin after a while in background

Problem GPS apps like Strava & Runtastic stops functionin after a while in background
Have A2017G at 7.1.1B04. I have installed both "Strava" and "Runtastic Road Bike" apps for GPS tracking my bike rides.
I start recording a session but after a while when I wake the screen and press capasitive-the-background-apps-listin-button to pick the app,
it restarts the app instead of continue its activity.
How could I fix the issue?

Go to power management (hold the Smart power tile on the dropdown) --> Power Management for apps --> select the app and turn everything off
Thanks.
I'm having the same issue with Strava. I've adjusted my power settings (per app and phone settings) for no power saving but it still stops gps recording about 20 mins into my ride.
Same phone, axon 7, no root or custom rom. Have you managed to fix it?

It fixed mine. After disabling all 3 power settings for each GPS apps, they continue to record and run for hours.
Me too I'm having same problem on stock...very annoying. Must be other settings which stop this from happening.

App suspended when LCD turns off

BubbleUPNP [2.9.4] License
Android [7.0]
EMUI [5.0.1]
Huawei Media Pad M3
Hello,
The track advance of BubbleUPnP doesn't work when the display is off.
The playback stopps after the current track when the dispay is meanwhile switched off (either manually or by timeout default). Playback restarts with the next track as soon as the display is reactivated by touching the screen or pushing the power button.
Kill on inactivity is disabled in BubbleUPnP of course.
Obviously Huawei does some kind of app suspension. Are there any know workarounds?
I appreciate your support.

Maybe turn off battery optimizations for the app? It is in Apps Settings, somewhere there.
Also in battery settings you can turn off killing the app when the screen is off. It is somewhere there.

This is already correctly set, but the app is still suspended when the screen turns off. Thanks to Huawei for their agressive app killing activities...
