What's the difference between these two facebook icons. I do have the facebook app installed. I don't want it to sync with my contacts tho.

I'd also like the answer. I think the one on the left is the Blur Facebook option, but when I click on the one on the right, it doesn't do anything. At all.
I can't even get the facebook account (made by the facebook app) to allow me to log in. I wish it would though. As a google voice user all the facebook and twitter moto blur breaks contact pictures for everything but moto apps

I dont know why you have two options for FB, but it's suppose to be for your social networking for moto blur, and you can opt out of the FB contact sync.
Hi all
Forgive me for being a total stupid noob, BUT...
I have just got the Samsung Nexus and have come from the HTC Desire.
I thought, similar to HTC Sense, I could add a Facebook account and in the people app, I would get contact photos and status updates.
However when I try and press the Facebook icon in the add account tab, nothing happens.
I know there are apps out there that can pull in contact photos, but is there no actual Facebook integration as in Sense?
Thanks.
LF
“We believe it is very important that users are able to control their data. So in the over-the-air update for Nexus S, we have a small change to how Facebook contacts appear on the device. For Nexus S users who downloaded the Facebook app from Android Market, Facebook contacts will no longer appear to be integrated with the Android Contacts app. Since Facebook contacts cannot be exported from the device, the appearance of integration created a false sense of data portability. Facebook contact data will continue to appear within the Facebook app. Like all developers on Android, Facebook is free to use the Android contacts API to truly integrate contacts on the device, which would allow users to have more control over their data. We are removing the special-case handling of Facebook contacts on Nexus S and future lead devices. We continue to believe that reciprocity (the expectation that if information can be imported into a service it should be able to be exported) is an important step toward creating a world of true data liberation — and encourage other websites and app developers to allow users to export their contacts as well.”

It's just a Google/Facebook pissing match. What is stupid is the Facebook app allows contact syncing on all Android phones except the Nexus line. So the only people this hurts is Nexus users. I really think Google should figure something out to make it work instead of punishing users for their fight with Facebook over data liberation.
I use friends sync for just that. Download from the market.

Cyanogenmod puts the Facebook sync back in if you go with that rom.

Yep, Bugless Beast and MIUI do also.
It's one line in ContactSyncProvider.apk that blocks com.facebook.katana.

So I've downloaded the new Facebook native app and I've noticed that in accounts in system settings a Facebook entry is now there. When I click on it I see contact sync as an option. Does anyone know if this will just sync ALL contacts from Facebook or will it just merge Facebook data with any contacts I already have?

I think it just downloads all your Facebook contacts and you can chose to have the visible under phone contacts.
You could try checking in the Facebook app, under settings, if it has the Sync option => Only existing contacts as an option, then it will merge.
Thanks Mate, unfortunately no such option in this facebook app like there is in the iOS one. I don't understand how facebook could miss this huge option in their grand native app release... :-/
download haxsync from the play store, it works waaaaay better than regular fb sync ever did. or use a custom ROM that supports native fb sync. I think modaco ROM has it

It's because Facebook and Google disagree on something and Facebook disabled this option for AOSP roms.
HTC and other manufacturers running Android have this functioning with the Facebook app out of the box.
But as suggested use Haxsync, works great, use it myself. It syncs high quality photos and it has face recognition so it only syncs faces.
Each time I reboot my phone it asks me to log in to Facebook to "Sync Applications". It looks a bit suspicious and I already have Facebook Application installed and I am logged in there. Does anybody know which applications requires this Facebook login and why?
That is for samsung's facebook SNS features...
You can:
1. live with the annoying message at bootup
2. freeze the FB SNS app in TiBu
3. Sign in
It's to sync your crap from your phone to FB... and you have to sign in through the browser is opens instead of the app. I'm assuming because the update the FB app about every 2 days.

Hello ppl,
I configured 4 email accounts to the native email app of the phone. At the time being i have 4. I tried to set up email widget to show a combined inbox to view all of them at once but when configuring it it asks the account to show on the widget. I want to view all 4 of them. In a previews model Galaxy A5 that was possible. Does any other done it or finally used 3rd party app ?
Same here, I wish they didn't change it. Got the P10 lite - my p8 had it and I found it so convenient.
