Hi all:
this time I see Google insist that any new smartphone should be ships with the latest Android version.
What Google is looking for in KitKat ?
For me I will not update to KitKat !
Because of the following:
"The WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission must only grant write access to the primary external storage on a device. Apps must not be allowed to write to secondary external storage devices, except in their package-specific directories as allowed by synthesized permissions."
That means your microSD card is secondary storage and apps will not be allowed to use it, Google has screwed up the KitKat API as they think there is a big security problem with external SD cards !!!!!
Oh... your SD Card is completely useless, applications will no longer be able to create, modify or remove files and folders on your external SD card. As a for-instance, you can no longer use a file manager to copy files from your computer to the SD card over a network.
in short Google want you to use their cloud services instead of your SD card, I feel like we are going back in time, and Samsung is involved in this game.

Well, my S4 is not rooted , that fix also could miss your phone, I don't know what is the point in having a MicroSD slot, then Kitkat will make it useless !!!
as it is not enough that Touchwize rom taking much of the phone storage, but Kitkat will make things even more hard !!!!
Guys just be aware of what you are going to do with your S4

Hello,
I have a problem with internal memory in my phone
I moved all my stuff to SD card , photos files etc
also i moved all the Movable apps to the sd
But some apps can't be moves i don't know why "see attaches pic"
I tried Clean master , ES files and some apps but didn't help
Please help me
I attached some photos shows the files and the "can't be moved" apps

You don't have a problem with the internal memory. You're simply encountering a normal occurrence, as not every app supports moving its data to the MicroSD card. Since your list of apps doesn't support being moved to the MicroSD the only way to clear storage is to uninstall the apps. You may of course try apps to SD card options, but I'm not sure how well they will work on Android 5.x.

thanks bro
even there's no way to force move this apps ?
i can't even make any update to my apps via store :crying:
To move the app data from internal storage would be to break the app itself. You don't want that.
Humor me here. Are you rooted, and are you using a custom recovery? If you are, which recovery?

at the first place i want to restore my space back
yeah , my phone is rooted and am using omega v28 5.0.1 rom
with custom recovery , TWRP 2.8.7.0 touch recovery
I just wanted to make sure you weren't using Clockworkmod or Philz, as those are notorious for eating internal storage. If you want to restore the lost space, you have to uninstall the apps. It's either that or you learn to live with it until Android 6.0 custom ROMs are made available for your device. Android 6.0 allows you to merge internal and external storage so that Android sees the two as a single volume, and that definitely would eliminate your problem.
Oh dear oh dear
ok thanks bro any way , i will try to live with it
Until it happen
Is there anyway to make Google play download / update to the sd card not the internal ??

Check your other thread on the topic. An answer was posted there.
Ever since the MM update, i am unable to move the apps from Internal memory to external memory. My internal memory is full and i am not able to install anymore apps.
My gf who also owns a Moto X Play has the option. I have tried resetting the phone but of no use.
Could someone help me with this please?

There isn't any option AFAIK in MM Roms to move apps from internal to external.

And I don't use it anyway. ?

Excuse me. If you not able to move apps to ext.mem.card you can move other files, videos like big files from internal storage to ext.mem.card .
Currently i have 129 applications twrp backup files, titanium backup files are in my internal memory and 11.86 gb only used of 25.45 gb total internal storage, no need of apps to move external sd card. I have 32 roms ,videos, photos and other files in ext.card.
Yeah move to SD is removed in mm. I'm guessing it's because adaptive storage is there new thing should you want more space in a phone.
Tbh it was always hit and miss in lollipop anyways as developers had to support it, which most didn't.
I have apps on my sd from lollipop, which show as such and can be moved back. I'm not, as I'll probably lose the function to kick them back if I wanted.

Thambi not everyone wants to Root their phone. If i root the phone my Banking apps don't work. On a Rooted phone i cannot generate a TAN number (Something like the Grid on the bank of ICICI bank card) to do online Banking

With root you can install xposed. With xposed you can install module that can fake unroot for those kind of apps.

Hello, i recently come back to the "dark world" of Android purchasing the P9lite.
Nice specs, good bargain for the price.
Then i decided to put a microSD card into it, and with my usuall luck, it seems this feature (of a normal Android 6.0 Phone) is disabled.
Any suggestion / Help ?
Unfortunately, Android's compability with SD cards declines with every new version, no idea why though.
Your problem can be solved the easy way - if you are rooted that is.
If rooted, check this site for possible solutions:
http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-2...d-setting-card-default-download-location.html
However, normally Android 6.0 SHOULD be able to use the SD card as adoptable storage. I don't remember though if the P9 Lite asks you how to use the card on first insert. This method requires encrypting and formatting though. See here for info:
https://source.android.com/devices/storage/adoptable.html
I don't really have the problem because I only install few apps and no games whatsoever so the 16GB internal storage is enough for me.
Pictures and music are on my SD.
If you want to root, check the excellent guides here on the forum. Really takes you like 5 minutes with some basic knowledge

You can make your microSD your default storage location for all apps by changing in Settings:
Settings > Advanced Settings > Memory & Storage > Default Location > choose your microSD here
To my understanding, this will make all your apps (Whatsapp, Facebook, etc.) to use your microSD instead of Internal Storage.

Sorry i dont use sd card on my p9lite. But my phone is perfect except the signal issue
My old phone is ASUS zenfone 4, now im using huawei p9 lite. I wanted to transfer all my data n apps in asus to huawei. but it seems that i cant find the transfer data apps
how can i transfer all my data n apps to my new phone?
Is it possible to just install a custom ROM like CyanogenMod? I heard that this one supports this feature.
maybe nougat will fix this?
hopefully nougat will allow us to do this!!
Emui doesn't support adoptable storage and move apps on SD card. I think it's a marketing choice so they incentive users to upgrade to a better phone with more memory but that has an higher price.
I tried in the past to force adoptable storage with adb but without success, the only way it's to install a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod/LineageOS.

i think apps will be installed on sd this way, as the used internal storage doesn't increase much when installing apps.
Hello everyone, I've the same issue. I root my device in order to be able to move my apps to micro sd card and set it up as default storage. And now, it looks that's not so easy.
I've formated my micro sd (32Gb) on my PC with Mini Tools Partitions Wizard like this : First partition : Create as Primary ; File System : fat32 ; Cluster Size Default ; Partition Size 19000Mb. Second partition : Create as Primary ; File System Ext2 ; Cluster Size Default ; Partition size 11521.93 Mb. Then I apply modifications. I insert the microsd card in my device, I reboot (don't know if needed), I open Link2SD, I try to move the app Messenger to sd card and I get : Failure "Error: java.lang.illegalStateException:รข~fNo suitable external storage available". After that I touch on an other app "Messagerie" (Default app), and here I have the posibility to select 'Link to SD card, I try and I get the error : "Second partition not found, /dev/block/ : device not found, make sure you have two partitions on your SD card and both are primary."
In the Link2SD settings, I can't select the option "Auto link" or open "Auto link settings" it's grey and disabled.
Has someone read any news about that since March ? The P 9 Lite is a great phone but 16 Go internal storage is to tight ! Thank you for your help.
I removed my sd card for taking pictures from lappi and when I again insert it my phone is not showing sd card pictures .perhaps sd card is working fine in other mobiles what should I do?
Question, i have a Samsung Tab A (SM-T280) , Running on 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Storage > Can't install apps to SD card, no options for it and yes i am aware of "move to sd card" however that does not move the whole contents off the app onto the sd card then upddating the apps it favours the internal storage for the apps "update" even after moving it with the default "move to sd option"
Basically what im trying to get at is, is there a way that anyone knows of for me upgrading to Marshmallow?
or is using a rom better to solve this issue? (or anything you can think of really)
if so , suggestions please and thank you in advanced!

I've found an .apk that allegedly upgrades firmware to 6. It's called "update to android 6.0" and the first run through failed with an error message with something along the lines of not having internet. I'm connected to wifi but I will say the RAM for this tab is trash and I'm waiting for web pages to load and constantly closing background apps.
