Moto x pure XT1575 TWRP - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to install TWRP onto my Moto x pure 2015 (XT1575), and I saw on the team win website that they post this:
[TWRP Install (Requires TWRP 2.8.4 or higher already installed)]
I don't have any TWRP at all installed. Can anyone help me find where to download this (preferably an official one) , or simply tell me if I can just download the oldest file for my device which is: twrp-2.8.7.0-clark.img 33.3M2015-09-14 16:56:38 EDT. Will appreciate any help.

Just grab the latest. 3.0.2 I think. You'll have to use fastboot to flash it if you don't already have custom recovery.
Any questions check out out the Heisenberg thread in q&a, just don't use the rooting method it references on stock M.

I'm running 5.1.1. Does that make any difference in which one to install?

No, although if your going to flash any custom ROMs you should really upgrade to the lastest stock firmware first to get you radios and firmware up to date.

Flashable zip of stock Nvidia rom

Hello, I've done some searching on xda and on the net. Does anyone have a a flashable zip of the 5.0.1 stock rooted nvidia rom?? Or even the stock 4.4.4 rom?? I would like to go back to stock but I'm not really in the mood to mess around with fastboot and adb right now.
I saw the tutorial on extracting the factory images from nvidia's site but I'm not a computer at the moment.
Thanks all. Much appreciated.

Flash this in CWM or TWRP. You will lose root, and any custom recovery that your using.

Hello, thanks for the links. I found the main thread for them. According to the OP, flashing recovery.img through fastboot is the way to go. Thanks for the help.

If you are on KitKat, root with towelroot and install flashify, and flash the recovery.img with that.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I had messed up and had to flash to cm12 unofficial just to get the device working. Towel root was not needed at the time.
I was able to use the tutorial and links provided by @MidgetMob to return to stock 5.0.1
I did use flashify afterwards to flash twrp 2.8.6.0 which has been working fairly well.
Thanks.

L Update

I'm sure I overlooked something but I'll ask anyway. Is it possible to update without losing root and having to reinstall modified TWRP 2.7.01?

I have managed to root the device but TWRP is not working on aboot 5.0.2. You can see the post links below.
It is merely few commands on 5.0.2 to run recovery by downgrading your aboot to 4.2.2 but then, Lollipop wouldn't start and you will need to reflash aboot 5.0.2.
So basically it is a choice between Lollipop rooted without recovery or Kitkat with root & recovery. I think we are not flashing anything as yet so it would not be much of a problem actually to not have a recovery. When we do need however, we can downgrade our aboot and flash twrp using loki and then flash the rom we want to.

Yeah I recall rooting it first time. Pain. All the Loki this Loki that.. Asking bc I upgraded my KLTEVZW by way of a flashable zip (4.4.4-5.0). Thought it may be possible on G Pad?
How about you root and make a twrp backup. Win, win

Check my ROM in my signature below, just flash the new official VK810 altev LG G Pad 8.3 35A_08 5.0.2 ROM from TWRP.
Also, questions should go in Q&A, not in General.

Have you tried CWM? Rumor is there's a new TWRP that hasn't been released yet, for what ever reason.
No twrp to flash, yet?

It's not a rumour. It definitely exists. It won't matter what recovery you use or what version as to whether you need to swap aboot.img versions temporarily if you're running stock LG Lollipop, if that's what you're wondering. 4.2.2 aboot.img lets the custom recovery boot, anything newer doesn't. And stock LG Lollipop won't boot on the 4.2.2 aboot.img, so you have to swap the new 35A_08 5.0.2 aboot.img in to get the ROM to boot.
I'm guessing the dev who made the newest TWRP for the VK810.4G is waiting to release it to the public until/if he gets CM 12.1 completely straightened out for our device. He'll probably release both at the same time.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. 2.7.0.1, 2.7.0.2 and 2.7.1.0 are all publicly available for us.
Sent from my VK810 4G
Idk. Some guy was bragging about using 2.8.6 saying it "wasn't publicly available yet" not to long ago. Only reason I said rumor was I had no proof.
Honestly I could care less what version he has. BL still locked. No mr , just felt he was name dropping or bragging. " I got it and you don't " sorry

[Q] How to Upgrade to Lollipop from CM12 (Tmobile D801)

I have a D801 (Tmobile G2) and I’ve been running CM11 on it for over a year.
Now that we have lollipop, I want to upgrade to a ROM based on the official Lollipop release, (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g2/development/rom-tmo-lp-extreme-v1-0-4-16-15-t3084681)
Ofcourse I’m rooted and have a custom recovery installed, specifically ClockworkModv6.0.5.0/Philz Touch 6.48.4)
Can anyone please guide me on how to install the Lollipop ROM mentioned above. I’m thinking the first step would be to update my recovery to a TWRP recovery…. How do I do that?

And then I just flash the Lollipop based rom? Even though I'm on CM11 (kitkat)?

That depends, you might need the latest bootstack for the new CAF-based roms, but not everyone seems to agree. I would flash it anyway though, this would prevent any issues like sound bugs and anything else you might find.

How to Root Moto X Pure XT1575?

I've been on the game for far too long, but there seems to be a confusion when
it comes to rooting this phone. All my previous phones have been fairly easy to root.
I read around a lot of forums but they have outdated information or are for Lollipop.
I have a Stock Moto X Pure edition on Marshmallow. To root this guy do i just have to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP recovery image via adb and then flash the latest version of SuperSU?
or do i need additional steps?
Thanks in advance
Do steps 9 onwards and you should be OK

If you want ota root, it needs to be systemless root.
Here is the twrp version u need.

And here is the trending rom to use.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I find the available info confusing. I'm on stock MM with TWRP 2.8.7.1 installed. Looking at steps 9 on from the link above mentions flashing a modified boot image for systemless root to work with 2.52. I think the latest SuperSU (2.66? modifies the boot image, making flashing the modified unnecessary.

Im wondering this same thing, from what i've seen in posts we should be able to flash SuperSU 2.66 on a stock rom with TWRP and root should work.
I just want someone to confirm if this does actually work. I dont really want to deal with boot loops and having to restore all over again.
Thats y i went with trupurexmm rom. And skipped the sytemless root. Follow post three above

I have flashed 2.66 on a stock rooted rom and also on an AOSP rom. Works on both

Can i root my SM-T585 and is there any roms for it?

Being doing google searches cant find much, any help much appreciated.
Search for the TWRP thread in the roms section. That will provide how to root. Essentially have to Odin TWRP over the stock recovery, flash the no verity.zip, format data, and then flash supersu.
There are two debloated roms in that section also. I got one to work on my SM-P580 (Wifi) but not the other one. Good luck.
