Scratch on screen - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi! I woke up in the morning and found a scratch on my screen which I am sure wasn't there when I placed my phone next to my bed last night. Called up the LG India service centre requesting them for a service. They would be reverting in 24 hours. It seems there is a 6 month free screen replacement warranty hence hopefully this should get covered in that. Will keep you posted on how things go.

Interesting how a scratch can come on its own also it will be good to see how much time LG takes to service for future please use a tempered glass

I have plenty of scratches .. the more I get, the less I care.

So the screen just got a scratch or off thin air? Sound like we are missing Little info! 🤔

I have a similar issue, so I am curious to know how it is handled.
I set my phone on my bed, walked into the next room to grab my charger, and noticed a scratch when I picked it back up. I had been playing a game and it had no scratch. It happened in a matter of seconds, and I have no idea how or what caused it.
I dropped my V10 several times, and never had a scratch or mark on it. I have had my V20 less than a week, and it has a scratch several inches long going from one side to the other in the middle of the screen. I am going to try to get it replaced with a new phone since it has been less than a week. I am going to get a screen protector as well instead of merely a case.

Must be those gremlins

O.O same here. I was browsing the internet with my phone and the screen was perfect. Put the phone down near my bed and went to get water. When I got back I saw BS etched in the screen. WTF?!?

Dust under the screen

So I have noticed a fairly large grouping of dust has collected under my screen on the top left corner. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this and how did you get it taken care of?

Happens to a lot of people including myself. I just deal with it since I can only see it during the day in the sun. You can take it to the spring store and they might fix it for you.

I have recently noticed the same thing in the same upper left corner. I switched from my oversized battery and cover back to the original battery and cover to see if that helps prevent it from getting worse.

I've been using a different back as well, for the powermat charger. I wonder if that is what caused it. Well, off to the sprint store I guess. We'll see what they say.

I have the same problem in the upper-left hand corner. I didn't have an extended battery until today. Completely stock, even got the dust while I had my screen protector on. I do notice that my phone has what I think is called "screen separation". Sometimes when I press down on the screen, it feels strange like it is separated. Hasn't affected the operation of the phone, but it's not too big of a deal for me to take back to Sprint yet. I only notice the dust when the screen is completely black and in direct light, too.

I actually noticed the dust under my screen about two weeks ago and have not made it to the sprint store yet. Should I even bother going there or are they not going to do anything for me? I have the Total Equipment Protection as well.
I've noticed dust under my screen as well. What sucks is the dust is right on top of the front facing camera ....maybe this weekend I will take it to the sprint store and see what they say.
Yeah I have it too, also have a blown speaker for the 2nd time -______-. I took it in to get fixed and they gave me a new screen (awesome) but forgot to put a earpiece back in. Looks like im just ignoring the 2nd time i got dust under the screen and gonna fix the rear speaker myself, or try to at least.
If they have any displays in stock, they'll replace it on the spot. Just make sure you tell them you want a brand new component. The store I took it too put a display that was all scratched up and nicked on the edges on my phone as if I wouldn't mind. How insulting!

Camera Lens Peeling Off

Has anyone noticed their back camera lens start to peel off? The top of mine pops up ever so slightly and I can push it back down. It'll sit for a while but come up again no matter how long I hold it.
Maybe I could some how heat it up enough to where the glue melts that I can hold it in place. I ordered mine online and really don't want to go through the exchange process. It would be like taking your baby back to the hospital after he's born for another two weeks.
You sure thats just not the protective plastic the a500 comes with ?
No, its certainly that black peice of glass (or plastic) that's over the lens.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
That sucks! Did it just happen or did it get hit or was maybe left in a hot car or something?
I know you don't want to but I think its best to return it.
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I'd like to see a pic.
It isn't the lense that is popping off, it is simply the plastic covering. Mine is popping a bit as well, think I'll crazy glue it down.
Yeah, its not the lens but I wasn't about to put "plastic camera thing is peeling" in the subject lol
Here's a picture

I really want to exchange it. I ordered mine online and picked it up at my local bestbuy store. I called the store and they said I couldn't do exchanges in-store for an online order. Bestbuy.com says differently. I emailed them both hoping to get a definite answer.

Wow. Discovered today that if I push on the back camera, even the slightest pressure, the camera doesn't work. The camera app shows a big green screen. I'm starting to think that it isn't the glass frame that's off but the whole camera module it self.
Add just a little more pressure and you can see distortion on the display opposite of where the camera is placed. There must not be anything between the camera module and the LCD.
Definitely sound like you got a defective model.
I wouldn't suggest anyone start putting pressure on the camera housing to test. It's not like they were built for anything other than it's normal function and day to day stresses.
agentdax5, return it however you have too. I wouldn't try and fix it or make it any worse. Just package it up and send it back.
Exchanged it today no problem but it looks like this one has the same problem...
Not as bad as before but still. Almost makes me want to return it and wait for a Galaxy Tab 10.1
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
I'd take it right back then on the next exchange, open it up in front of them and check.
Thanks for the advice. I should be going back tomorrow. They had 3 left when I went, hope they don't happen to sell them by then.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
A total of 3 exchanges later i finally got one without the lens peeling!

I guess I was just lucky, no peeling here.

My device is in service because of that. When the new one has the same problem, I'm a bit pissed of. In my country this device costs 600$...

I ordered my A500 online and picked it up at my local Best Buy. When I got it home it had a 1.5 inch crack running across one corner of the screen. I took it back the next morning and they swapped it out (after I convinced them I didn't break it). There was never any question of how I ordered it or if I just came in and picked it up. You should report whoever at that store told you that to the manager, and if it was the manager report it to the home office. Times are tough enough without stupid employees running off customers over BS like that.
I don't have this problem
Tried to apply pressure to the rear and front camera while the photo app was open and no mishaps. As for surface peeling I've not had any such issues and frankly, after inspection, have a hard time seeing how any such problem would be possible.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
mine is identical in the fact that its peeling. i just push it down might get some double sided tape to put it down better. no biggie.

....Well (lol)

After having this phone for 3 weeks (Today literally made it 3 weeks), the phone took a fall from my computer desk and the "gorilla glass" completely cracked. So now all that is displayed is a single green pixel and a line of about 10 white pixels.
I was really happy with this device up until this point, but a fall like that breaking the screen is unacceptable. Guess it's time to find another new phone.
Must have been a real unlucky hit. Mine has fallen from shopping cart height 3 times without even a scratch. Back went one, battery another...put it all back together and all was good.
I guess I will chalk it up to bad luck and hope for better next time. Just ordered the Epic Touch, so we shall see how that goes (and this time I got a case with it, lol).
I wanted to go back to HTC, but something about these Samsug phones has drawn me in.

You could buy a bad esn epic, or a broken mother board epic and swap out the mobos, or screen if you feel like taking it all the way apart. Its really easy.
i have slipped on a wet floor but caught myself but unfortunately my phone was in my hand so when I through my hand up to catch my balance my phone went flying face down on concrete floor picked it up expecting the worst nope all was good.

I actually just did this yesterday... except I threw the phone hoping to catch myself, the phone went flying and hit HARD on my hardwood floors... not even a scratch... chalk it up to bad luck op...
I had my phone sitting 5 feet up on a shelf, connected to a stereo through an audio cable. My manager accidentally caught the cord, whipping the phone down to the tile floor faster than gravity could have pulled it, and the battery didn't even pop out
Sorry to hear about your bad luck

Well I ended up losing the Epic 4g Touch auction by like $3, so I went looking for a nice SIII but in the end grabbed up the HTC Evo 4G LTE. Will have it on Wednesday.
I will probably grab up a bad ESN Epic at some point though just so I can have a backup phone (better safe than sorry). I really did like this phone and I figure the SIII would also be amazing, but I could not justify paying almost $200 more for the SIII than the Evo LTE.

Where are you buying from that the SIII is almost $200 more than the evo lte? You must be buying from ebay or some other auction site, cause the sprint website has them listed as the same price

Yeah I got it on eBay, since I am not qualified for an upgrade until like March. Managed to grab the Evo LTE for $300 (after overnight shipping).
I've had this epic 3 years dropped at least 100 times not one crack love my gorilla glass

My epic had slid on concrete floors at weird angles have never had a cracked screen it also been dropped over 1000 * and it still looking good as new I am very sorry for what happened to that mate but most of us have never had that happen to us must've been 1 real unlucky drop man

I had my phone on my lap in the car and when I got out it dropped.. this happened to me about a 10 times.. one time after I got out of the car it fell face down and I stepped on it and slid it across the concrete while it was under my feet..
I just knew it was gonna be messed up..
But not a scratch on the screen.. at least not that I could see..

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I was climbing the fire escape to get in my house, and my Samsung Moment slid out of my pocket as I was going in the window 3 stories above the ground. And it was perfectly fine. Also with my Moment, I went to put it in my pocket, but I missed and it fell on the asphalt screen first, and the glass cracked. Like what?

If were talking about dropping phones during hurricane sandy. This was at night and the rain was over and the center of the storm was heading towards Philly so I went outside to record the storms force. While standing there a few seconds late a huge gust of wind blew pushed me and knock my phone right out my hand it fell smack down on its face on to the concrete I was like O_O I picked it up no crack in the screen just a dent in the plastic part around the phone. But now I'll never have warranty because somehow now my battery has half pink on it. If I had an iPhone 4S it would of been history for that phone. The epic records good night video by the way.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Just luck of the draw then I guess. I still can't believe that it broke from one tiny drop onto a soft surface, but these things happen. I guess I won't fully write off Samsung, but for now I gotta stick with what I know has worked for me in the past.

[Q] Back glass completely broken - but it has not falled :| - warranty?

Hi guys.
This morning I woke up as every other morning and did my breakfast on a glass table.
I always gently put the N4 on the glass table, with the bottom speaker just slightly out of the table's surface for being able to hear its sounds...I'm sure you know what I mean!
Fact is that this simple, standard and fair operation completely broke the back glass of the phone. I didn't even understand at first what all that creaky sounds were...then I felt like much dust was under the phone, but it was its back in millions of little parts. I posted a photo on G+ here https://plus.google.com/u/0/104235829819528805196/posts/dgbDjvAtGjM
Now...as I ask there...do you think warranty will cover this? It's a big hassle because I live in Italy and I bought it in an online shop in Germany with a re-shipment from there just because, as you know, the device wasn't much available elsewhere back in January (it's not available here in Italy even today). Do you think I take a risk if I send it back, like the device coming to LG and they refusing to repair it, so I just burnt lot of money of shipments and repair service for no reason? I see I could buy a replacement back for around 60 EUR but I will void the warranty opening it...and seeing how fragile it is....who knows what happens in the next 19 months....
In short, I need some advice
I'm not sure about warranty in Europe, so I'm not going to touch on that, however that break was caused by rapid temperature change, like if you run hot water on an iced over windshield on your car

This makes sense. The glass table is particularly cold at the touch, and thick. Even if I could also note that the phone was previously just in my bedroom at ambient temperature and no sun was on it, so, well, if the back of the phone was made of -some- part of simil-glass too, it was somehow cold too!
If you look close, the pattern comes from the camera, which doesn't sit flush, my guess is heat off the battery "vents" there, it was warm there, touched cold glass, and shattered

That looks pretty cool. I would give google a call, but if anything you can always hide it with a skin.

Thinking more about it, I remember I had just detached the phone from charge. But something weird happened! When I woke up, and the phone was still under charge from the night, I noticed the battery was still at 99% and charging, after 7/9 hours!!! I just let it complete the charge to 100% before detaching it. It could be it was particularly how and I did not notice it....
won't lie, that is by far the prettiest cracked back i've ever seen for a n4. hahaha
@ErgMeglio Well, you weren't dancing on it, so I'd say Google and/or LG would cover it with an International Warranty. I'm no lawyer, and bought mine through Google Play ... So I'd simply go back to them for a repair.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I've sent it under warranty after so many headaches with the shop.
Now I am awaiting for their investigation to know if they are going to cover it as they should.. imho...
Cross your fingers for me please

[Q] G2 802 Screen doesnt show anything [HELP]

Hello everyone,
I got this problem with my LG G2 that it fell in the water once, I directly put off the phone. (It was still intact after falling in water).
Later I turned it on but the screen did not show up. Sound works, Vibration works, TOUCH screen works (no graphical stuff) and even if I call my self with another phone the LG goes off, vibrates, plays the ringtone and everything.
I sent my phone to Dynafix which is the repair center, they said it's not available for warranty, because its water damage and they declared the phone as "Unrecoverable". Which I think is pretty weird. I have thought of repairing it myself by buying and new LCD and Digitalizer.
(w w w . etradesupply . com/lg-g2-d800-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html)
I have never done that though but with a good tutorial on YouTube and the right tools I should be able to do it. But before I take any action which may not work I want more info about this problem.
I made a video of my phone but can't post any links here, the name is: "LG G2 screen doesnt go on? [HELP!]"
Thanks:good:
Don't waste your time or money on this. If it was completely immersed in water, it is in fact unrecoverable. The water might not have an effect on the device the first couple of hours, but after a short while it will corrode it's way trough the device, rendering it useless. The repair center won't touch it because they know that no matter what they do, there is a huge risk that the corrosion will come back. You're better off with a new device.

The phone in on the charger and on, Everyday I still hear sounds and such. The phone hasnt been in water more then 1 sec though. And afterwards I left it drying in dry rice for 1 week. I know i am a bit selfish but I think there could be a chance of making it work.

Not exactly the same but a friend was skipping lessons at school when we were like 10 (10ish years ago) and using Gameboy Advance SP in the toilets... you can guess what happened... Any way i took it apart and left it in a closet for a few days, gave it back to him fully working after. So it's not necessarily un-fixable.

Well yeah, I just turned it off got the back cover off but not got the battery out. and let it dry.
Is there any way to acces the phone's screen through my PC? The phone is rooted.
Fixed the phone!
I removed the main board from the phone and brushed the connections with a toothbrush. Re-assembled the phone and it worked!
The only money I spent is for a plastic opening tool and a philips screwdriver.
