Hey there,
I've had my eye on the v20 for a while now, but I can't seem to find any reviews that mention what you can plug into the usb C port on this device.
I'm wondering if there's any compatibility to plug in a hub or dock that would allow additional devices to be plugged into the phone. (HDMI, USB 3.0, Power, etc)
Such Amazon or do a Google search

The Atrix obviously can act as a USB Master as in the Media dock you can plug in keyboard mice and HDDs.
Is it possible to use a powered/unpowered usb hub connected directly into the phone when it's in webtop mode?
Nobody can answer this?
It should be if you can find the right adapter/connector. There's an A female-female adapter in amazon I'm eyeing that any do the trick if I can find the right cable to go with it.
I haven't been able to find a micro adapter to connect it directly.
I've been thinking it might be possible to create such an adapter by splicing two cables together.
More interestingly I wonder whether we could create our own charging hub with a three way adapter and a powered hub. Disconnect the ability for the hub to draw power from the phone while using one of the hubs ports to draw power from the hub. Im guessing the docks do something similar. I'm no EE though and wouldn't try it unless someone that knows what their doing tries it and gives instructions (particularly verifying that this is possible and how to conform it want fry the usb port.)

There's a thread about this over in Atrix 4G Development:

I have an andrid. Stick mx2 imito and I have a powered USB hub but I can't configure how I am meant to to get it to read from the hub. I have 2 ports on the stick, one full sized usb and one mini usb .
And In terms of devices I have my keyboard I want to add
1 external usb hard drive
And if I can get it to work a USB wifi dongle
Huh!
Since there is only one full sized USB port, I would think that is the solution. That's how it runs on mine anyway. Connect all your devices to the powered hub. Should be straight forward
So I would need a usb cable male to make? To connect to the hub. Do they exist ? I will try find the cable .
i cantget it to work
so the large usb port. i need a cable from that to connect to the hub? usb port
but i dont have a usb port with the same end? male to male etc
Get a USB powered hib

this was an old hub i had, i dont have that wire. its a mini usb to full usb type connection isn't it?
Plenty of such options available
Here is another on ebay. Just search for powered USB hub and choose one

ok great, so the port next to the power socket, is the cable i need to attach to and from the imito android stick? so that will be the main one and any other usb devices can go on the hub.
m confused on where i need to connect from on the android stick. which has 1 full sized usb, 1 mini usb otg socket and 1 mini usb (power)
It should also be possible to modify a USB hub to back feed power to the HDMI stick.
You would then power the hub with a sufficiently large USB power supply to power both the stick and all of the USB devices. In most cases, a single 2.1 Amp USB "wall wart" would work to power everything, unless you are really running something outrageous.
My NX003 (Same as MX1) can be powered from either the dedicated USB power jack, or the MicroUSB (OTG) connector.
So to build something like this, here is what I would do:
1. Obtain a USB hub I was willing to modify (destroy, as far as any other use is concerned)
2. Disassemble it.
3. Remove the input (Host) cable or connector.
4. Attach a short cable with a MicroUSB plug. Connect all 4 wires correctly.
5. Find "The diode" - Buy "The diode" I mean the one that that allows USB power to flow from the host to the peripherals when used in non-powered mode, but prevents power from flowing upstream to the host when an external power supply is used. (see referenced link).
6. Remove this diode, and replace it with a wire, jumper, or solder bridge.
7. Ensure all power circuity in the hub can handle 2 amps. Add solder to traces, or add jumper wire if needed to beef up current capability.
8. Reassemble, and clearly mark so that this hub is never used with anything else.
If the HDMI stick were powered via a coaxial connection, but is still powered by 5 Volts, I'd add a lead and coaxial plug off of the +5 in the hub. you'll have 2 wires, but it will still work. (Watch polarity.)
I have done this successfully for a prior, similar project. Reference Here: (Scroll to section about power.)

So why don't I actually do this to power my NX003? I did it an easier way. I bought a Tronsmart Prometheus. It has 3 full USB ports built-in.

Thank you for the informatiom, but its a bit too technical for what i want... but i appreciate you efforts in writing this.
my stick can also power via both usb ports (mini) i have connected the cable from the stick to the hub which has been powered to the mains and it works, but the problem i have is when i put another usb device in the hub, it doesnt detect it e.g. keyboard wireless and i don't think the device has enough power to run my usb 2.0 portable harddrive (not main powered) - how can i get this to work? i have tried connecting this directly to the stick, but it just makes a beep sound. im guessing its lack of power... and i was hoping a hub would help.
my hub is powered 3.5 or 4 watts i believe...
Strange
Wakkaday,
This is very strange. On my MK802III I connect the powered USB hub (4 ports) to the full USB port.
I connect my bluetooth keyboard, 1 TB HDD and USB ethernet to the hub.
I power my Android stick using the 4rth port in the USB hub.
If I want USB audio, I replace the Ethernet/HDD with a USB audio peripheral.
All my peripherals work right out of the box. The only thing I am considering now is to have a separate power supply to the Android stick so that I can use all 4 ports on my hub.
It seems your device is not supporting the peripherals? Are the working when you connect directly?

I'm also trying to use a powered 4 port usb hub with my android stick, but it doesnot recognises the hub. Do i need to have any usb host drivers or change any setting to get it work? My stick is on Android ICS.. Thanks in advance
Me and few other people still asking about OTG capabilities so lets make combined thread for all.
What I figured out for now.
First of all RAZR i does not support OTG itself cause has no power on micro USB port so You need more than regular USB OTG cable.
You need minimum 1A powered USB HUB which means just buy regular 3/4/8 ports USB HUB but with 1A (can be 2A too) AC adapter.
So connection should looks like:
RAZRi -> OTG Cable -> USB Powered HUB -> USB Device
It's simple part. Lest make something harder.
List of devices which I tested:
USB HUB
KitKat should bring more OTG capabilitiesfor us so to prepare for that I bought new USB HUB with built in OTG support.
It the same like THIS one and it's dedicated for Samsung S3, S4 etc.
Hub is made not so bad, it has built in OTG support so no need other adapters and it has power connector.
To use this HUB You need to connect it to DC 5V/1A with 1,35/3,5 to USB cable. I used this cable and regular Moto wall charger. You can also use power bank as power for more mobility.
All my USB devices working fine under this HUB so I can recommend this for RAZRi.
Mouses and Keyboards
RAZRi has no problems to detect and handle with most of mouses and keyboards. No modifications are needed. Just Plug & Play.
USB Drives (Pendrives, HDD's etc)
Unfortunately none of them are working. Phone detects devices in some apps but drives are not detected as drives, just devices and they can't be mounted. I think without any kernel modifications drives can't be mounted. Apps to mount drives can't handle with it too.
USB Audio Devices / DAC
Unfortunately I have only 2 devices like that. Sound Blaster Surround 5.1 USB and Logitech Stereo USB Speakers.
Both tested with USB Audio Tester ROOT.
Creative is correctly detected but there is no sound on every setting.
Logitech USB speakers are detected correctly too but I was able to make it works but only to hear sound from internal microphone. No way to hear music or any sound from phone.
I tested SoundAbout Pro tp force playing from USB host but it failed. I don't know any other app can make it. Also I'm really noob at Linux so I have no idea what to modify in Alsa driver to redirect sound on USB audio device.
USB Game Controllers / PAD
I have only wireless XBOX360 pad so can be hard to make it work but heard somewhere that can be possible. In few days i'll check what can be done with it.
Tested with Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2, working like a charm without any mods. OFC You need to use button mapper or any similar app cause after connect pad is working like mouse but after remap we have fully working cordless pad.
USB Network Adapters
At this moment I tested only cheap RJ45 to USB adapter but it doesn't work. Strange cause activity led on adapter is blinking sometimes and it stops when phone is off but nothing except this.
Any other news, suggestions, tests of working devices are welcome.
Network adapters updated.
Wysłane z Motorola RAZR i.
You need to mod the kernel to add usbstorage like the samsung S3 and the framework apk i think, maybe some hardcore developers can help on it.
xbox 360 controller is detected as device but is not working something is missing cuz i added the keylayout for the device and is not working. but you can remap any keyboard keylayout to work as joystic XD.
Updated GamePads section.
USB HUB with OTG added.
Very nice, I tryed, and it works like a charm. I could use a keyboard and mouse runing Ubuntu 15.10 on CHROOT
So, my 2014 Kia Soul has a new map update that is arriving in the mail tonight, and it includes Android Auto. I know I have to connect my device directly to the USB plug in my car to use it, but I have some questions for everyone.
I want to be able to keep my phone QUICK charging at 3A but also connect for the USB requirements for Android Auto. I also have a 32gb micro sized USB drive I'd like to keep plugged in, as it is loaded up with great driving music. I can live without the USB drive if needed, but really want to keep the ability to quick charge.
If I use an adapter like this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6ZPHAQ/
And connect the Type C connector on that to my phone, and then the Type C USB charger in my car to this, can I connect a Type A male to Type A male cable to satisfy Android Auto?
I hope this makes sense. I'm thinking it'll work, but maybe someone else has tried it. I have this adapter from some testing I did, but don't have a male to male type A USB cable to test out with yet.
I am almost sure it won't work. And where will you get 3A power to quickcharge? Cars usb are not prepared for that.
I would get to 3 amp power from where I get it now, the quick charger that I put in my car as mentioned above.
So the USB C cable would go from my current charger to the USB C in port on this adapter, which is designed only for charging through that port, then a USB A to USB A cable to connect the car USB port to the USB A port on the adapter.
I picked up a short USB a male to male cable earlier today so I can test this on Friday.
I have a Fiio E17K and I cannot get the device to work via USB OTG. I tried two different cables to no avail. When plugged, it lists the generic USB options, i.e. Power Supply. I confirmed the DAC works on my old LG G3.
Has anyone gotten a portable DAC to work on their phone through USB OTG?
Just select Midi device when prompted then you're good to go.
I'm using Soundblaster E3.
When I select Midi device, it immediately switches back to Power Supply. I tried 3 different cables from different brands to no avail. I can confirm the amp/dac works on the LG G4 with no issues.
I have the Canadian LG G6 and can confirm USB OTG works in general, when I used an adaptor to use a mouse.
Has anyone figured out a solution? I need to select MIDI for Fiio Q1 to be recognized and then it switches back to Power Supply.
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
I managed to get my hand on another USB-C phone (Asus ZenFone3) to rule out a cable issue. DAC worked with no issues, so it is definitely a G6 issue. I'm hoping this gets patched or fixed in a future custom rom.
My Zuperdac works fine.
Hei.. just in case you are still checking around. It may take awhile for the LG G6 to register the dac. Therefore, once you plug in. let the song play. and probably wait for up to 30sec or so. O and another thing. You may want to try and select File Transfer. It worked for me also. They did mention for older device.. you can select MTP instead.

Yes i use lg g5 hifi plus dac/amp modul working well!
Two years later my LG G6 does exactly this...plug in my ifi DSD black label and it pops up to change connection type but it FORCES power supply no matter what you pic. And it drains the hell out of the battery. ANYONE figure this out. I see numerous post on this across LG v30 and the like do it too.
I used a Fiio Q1 (amp & DAC) with my G6. This DAC has a charge/no charge button, setting this to off prevents draining the G6's battery. This week I upgraded to a Fiio Q1 MkII, and this newer model doesn't have the charge/no charge button, and it drains my G6's battery very quickly charging its own battery. I modded a micro USB cable after insctructions online (I can't post links to external sites, but search for "Things that you want to know about FiiO Flagship DAC & Amp Q5", scroll to the bottom of the article), I opened the micro USB connector and soldered pin 4 and 5 together. I use this cable and a regular USB-C OTG adaper, and the DAC no longer drains the G6 battery. The "Power supply" mode still appears active on the G6, but no charge is transfered to the Q1 MkII, verified because its charge LED remains off and because the G6's battery discharges at the usual rate. I don't need to change the USB mode to anything else, just leave it on "Power supply". I then spliced the OTG adapter directly to a micro USB cable, shorting pins 4&5 on the micro USB side, this way I have a short, custom cable to connect G6 & Q1 MkII.
Then I found that Fiio offers a USB-C OTG to micro USB cable for their DACs, and according to them it's built with charge disabled. I purchased one from Amazon (can't post link, search for "Fiio CL06 Type C to Micro USB OTG Cable for Fiio Q1 Mark II Q5 M7 etc"), but I'm still waiting for delivery.
Hope this helps
thanks
