What kernel do you guys recommend for Nexus 6P 7.1.1 with Pixel mod I need something that gives a battery boost without Sacrificing on performance
A suggestion(what works for me)
I'm not sure about the "best", but what I'm using with nice results is the interactive profile ghostpepper with touch boost turned off and MSM hotplugging turned on. There's a few ways to go about; I'm using the ex kernel setting app to set profile, etc at boot. Battery life has been nice with the right balance between battery & performance. Also their is some thermal cfg mods that I find help also. You can find all of the above info right here on XDA. I hope this might be of some assistance and may the good Lord bless.

what does msn hotplugging do exactly?
i like ghostpepper profile, but i prefer heimdal (gives me better battery life!)
btw. i dont even see touchboost option in my elemental app, i think it could be , because of the kernel i use disables it completely.
i use Flash kernel.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. The toochboost option is under CPU/cpu_boost/Input_boost; I disable,set-on-boot. I'm using flash also. Hotplugging allows your cores to turn on and offline when not needed saving you battery.

no biggie, but i dont see touchboost under CPU/CPU BOOST.
i only see Input Boost enabled (should i disable this? but this is not touchboost.)
and about hotplugging, is it safe to enable it ? or do you mean that i should be enabling this "Hot plug: msm_hotplug." ?
and btw. under Miscellaneous , should i enable all the wakelock options , as this will also improve battery life ?

Yes sir, that is correct to the best of my knowledge, (input_boost=touch_boost). On the wakelocks I leave mine set default; you can look or Google any one to find out what each one is.

damn i did not know , thanks man ! :highfive:
but look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69421065&postcount=5467
the good member is pointing out what to enable etc. (for profiles to take effect)
and he says to turn input boost options on (depending on whether your profile uses them or not)
and also that no profile really uses touchboost, i think i dont see touchboost because either the rom/kernel i use disables it by default.
Right- touchboost won't show up if your kernel doesn't support it. It's different from input boost. Most kernel profiles use input boost, but not touchboost. And many kernels don't support touchboost. I don't remember the explanation, but touchboost isn't used much.
how do you enable msm_hotplug in ex kernel app?

You can leave it on but if your looking to save battery, this needs to be off, as described in the Flash kernel (6p) thread & the thread describing interactive governer, profiles, and how to tweak the interactive governer for the best battery. This is a nice post, so check it out if you haven't already.

Did you figure that one out?
Can't find it on my N6P, can only see msm_thermal, which I don't think is the same.

what kernel are you using? elementalx doesnt support hotplugging, you have to have some kernel that supports it, like the flash kernel. after that just go to cpu tab and it appears after the cpu frequencies configuration

Try this out guys and post your results. Install the Advanced Configuration Tool in WM and enable all sd/nand Power Management features (all disabled by default I think) and then run your Android. I did this and after 24 hours moderate use I still have 40% battery left! GPS, WiFi, Sync and data all enabled and I average 3-5 mA in standby using mdeejay's 6.1 kernel and JDMS 1.5!
EDIT - I meant enable not disable sorry.
EDIT 2 - Not sure about hastarin's kernel as I was having battery drain issue with it. He is aware of it and is working to correct it though.

Hi, may be you could remind us your WinMo/Android configuration, this might be some good informations.
ok either its late or i've become blind but where on earth is the download link on the touchexperience website? because the direct download link brings up an error
edit: ok scratch that, found it.. google is our friend
Anyone got test results yet? (Current widget stats for standby & low/med/heavy usage would be great!)
I've downloaded and installed it, but everything already enabled. So no option for me. I have about 5mA standby anyway
But I've recognized that A-GPS was disabled?! Could you guys please have a look if it is the same for you?
MDJ 2,4 clean still 5 ma on stand by ( I don't belive in miracles )

Might be an issue with Set CPU permissions or something odd like that. 1st thing I'd do is try a different app to overclock, download System Tuner and try that (go to Tweaks at the bottom then CPU at the top).
Also, you may want to try posting this question in the LightSpeed Rom Thread, there's a good possibility someone else has had this same problem and they know of a specific solution, especially if you're running the included kernel.
Good luck!
Got it.

Hi, yes I tried AnTuTu CPU Master Free and it worked wonders. I have now overclocked to 1504 Mhz. Do you think that is safe? Or should I go down to 1.4?
Thanks so much guys.

1.5 should be fine, just keep an eye on CPU temp and if you're getting random reboots I'd lower it. Its probably going to eat your battery though so you should probably undervolt and set some profiles to lower it when needed.
1.2-1.4 is plenty for everyday use unless you're really pushing it on a normal basis.
hey guys, i'm using miui 1.12.2 rom with tiamat 4.1.0 and i installed setcpu from a link off this xda site...right now i have smartass v2 set as the governer in setcpu, but when i attempt to add a profile , somehow i can't adjust the min/max/priority settings. i'll try to place my finger to drag the tab for each of the settings, but it doesn't move...
is anyone having this problem? any solution or explanation for this? thanks!
I've had the same thing forever on MIUI. It's a pain. I have to manually open data/data/com.mhuang.overclocking/databases/profiles.sqlite and edit the values with a sqlite editor.
I've since stopped using SetCPU profiles, but if you really need to set profiles then you can do it that way.
Also, I can change the max value in the app but not the min value. I have problems with other sliders as well on MIUI.

Is it just a MIUI thing? Because on CM7 I don't have to worry about that because its built it, but never heard of that issue before.

Yeah, I think so. I don't remember it happening on CM7 but it has been a while. I first noticed it on MIUI. I now just use SetCPU to change the governor and the sliders work fine on the main screen, just can't change the min value on the profiles.
I've also noticed that on any kind of slider in any app, I have to drag the slider. I swear that I remember on other roms being able to touch the point where I wanted the slider to be and it would jump to it. Like when playing music or a video - I could touch where I wanted to skip to but now I have to drag the slider. Am I remembering wrong or is this just an MIUI thing?
It has always bugged me but not enough to make a new thread or flash another rom to find out.

My Moto G 2014 xt1068 did not perform well for a long time. I tried editing the lmk values with just a little improvement, I also added ro.MAX_HIDDEN_APPS to Build.prop with a value of 16. But with this, the phone tends to work ok until RAM gets full. Then it hangs for a lot of time and the screen goes black. But yesterday, without almost any hope I went to Kernel Adiutor and lowered the Z-RAM to 0. And man, that was awesome. Now my Moto G is another phone. I'm almost sure it's not placebo, because now I can listen to music while I'm navigating on chrome and I have Facebook Messenger chat heads active, and before that was just not possible. So, if you want to give it a try, let me know if it worked for you and I hope I helped!
I'm on Minimal OS with the last update and no kernel added.

That's a strange behaviour: zRAM usually improves the performance of the device. It's used like a swap disk but obviously it has better I/O speeds; on the other hand the workload on the processor is a bit heavier. Just one question: what was your previous zRAM value?
It was at 250mb, the default value.
It's supposed to help if it's enabled but oddly enough, it's not even enabled on some phones. To verify it's even enabled, in terminal emulator type 'free -m', and the swap column has to be non-zero.

I have xt1068 and my default value was 160.After I set it to zero and rebooted I can watch video in chrome and the play music is not closed, only paused.
How do I set it to 0? What options do I have to enable?

Normally in the kernel settings with something like kernel adiutor.
the setting won't stick for me in Kernel Adiutor, it keeps resetting back to 160
I tried that out, the setting stays on 0 when you select "apply on boot" and reboot. But in my case it made the multitasking issue even worse, it is much better with the zram setting on 250 which is the default value of my kernel.

Yes, i changed it to 0 and the performance was worst, launcher resets, lags with camera and chrome.. changed it back to 250 and it was fine!

Maybe it's just with some ROM's/Kernels, I was obviously not understanding why like you.
I am using Revan kernel R7Min. I've had this issue for a while and have checked around Google for a solution and nothing seems to work.
The issue is, no matter what settings I try to set for my kernel (such as my cpu governor, scheduler etc) when I reboot, they go back to default. Others on the same kernel are not having the same issue.
I am on stock OOS 4.5.6 but have always had this issue. I am using Magisk for root and do have greenify installed. I've ensured that any kernel modifying app is not greenified and is not battery optimized.
I've tried kernel auditor, kernel auditor mod, L speed, Room Tool box and ex kernel manager.
All produce the same problem. I've also uninstalled all mentioned apps and tested individually in the event they are conflicting with each other, no dice.
Anyone run into this before? My current workaround is to set everything, create a profile in one of the apps and restore post reboot.
Bump. Am I really the only person with this issue on a 1+5?

Try turning off advanced optimisation: Settings -> Battery -> Battery optimisation -> Three dot menu (⋮) -> Advanced optimisation -> Turn off. Once done, reboot and check if whatever you've applied to run at boot is running at boot or not. It should.

Thank you so much! That fixed it. I wonder if I'll lose some battery life.. that actually fixed a few problems I had. I bet the aggressive doze in greenify could correct any battery issues if I get them.
But thanks again! I've tried so much lol

No worries, I had a feeling this was the reason. Coming to battery life, I haven't noticed any loss of battery life after disabling the option. I think what the option does is stop apps, that have the run-at-boot permission, to run at boot. But even if they don't run at boot and you open them at any point of the time, they'll be up and running, and then it's the same thing really, so.
Anyway, have fun! :good:
