Hi all I have unfortunately lost the proper baseband for my device (XT1643-indian model g4 plus 3gb/32gb)
Prior to posting this, I had my fingerprint lost too. My stupidity was flashing the june fastboot firmware I found on one of the links for motorola rsd cloud clients. :/ With the help of @echo92 i was able to revive the missing fingerprint by pushing hw.img to /dev/block/mmcblk0p43 but still the SIMs won't show up as the baseband has changed to MSM8952_70030.25.03.62.01R DFLT_FSG
I have tried flashing the modem and fsg partitions from the March 1 ROM but still no solution
Any kind of help would be appreciated

Flashing the modem file for you device didn't change the baseband version? Meaning it didn't remove the suffix at the end...
What happens if you flash a complete stock ROM via fastboot for you device? One that includes all of the files...

I actually had made these backups specifically for such conditions but i'm unable to find them as of now. I have been able to get the Sims working somehow with @Droidphilev 's flashable modem zip (Available here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/fxz-flashable-stock-npjs25-93-14-4-t3623010 ). But the baseband I have after flashing this zip is M8952_70030.25.03.62.01p ATHENE_EMEA_DSDS_CUST . Let's see what can be done to revive my phone fully.

I FLASHED THE MODEM FILE SPECIFIED ABOVE, BUT STILL BASEBAND SUFFIX IS DFLT_FSG
I'M ON INDIAN XT1643
HELP PLEASE
My problem started as i was using 7.1.2 AOSP custom rom
then i switched back to MM Stock rom
Everything was fine till i received June Nougat Update
during update my phone went blank
Somewhere with the help of XDA i found a blankflash file and got bootloader back
then i flashed TWRP and wiped full system, cache, and everything
then through fastboot i installed nougat xt1643, xt1626-40-41
i tried every possible firmware, every modem file available.
Still my fingerprint and SIMs are not working
my bootloader is B1.06
I cant downgrade bootloader and gpt.bin even with unlocked bootloader, my model is switched to g4 i think
i can only flash bootloader and gpt of june update
rest all firmwares give Security Downgrade error
Help me please!!!
How did you solved the fingerprint problem.

I've seen people talk about flashing the H915 KDZ over it, but I don't want to lose data/radio. Does anyone have a safe method to go back to stock on the AT&T H910?
If you need it tonight, you can search through the H910 v10m root thread. I posted a link that flashes all of the v10m ROM just as a KDZ would. However, it doesn't work. You would need to extract it, remove system, edit the updater-script to remove the package_extract_file line for system, and then zip it back up.
You would then need to flash system with dd in an adb shell, once that was done, you could flash the repackaged zip.
I am not sure why package_extract_file won't flash system -- I have flashed system with it in the past without problems. So if you can wait, I am just going to extract system to a directory, and flash it with package_extract_dir after formatting system.
But most importantly, you most certainly don't need to flash the H915 KDZ to go back to stock.

I can definitely wait for a safe, uncomplicated method. Should I just watch your thread for updates?
I will make a new thread with just the zip for going back to stock.

Hey Dude. Any progress with this? My phone is slowly dying while rooted/bootloader unlocked. Sorry to ask for a timeline. Just getting desperate.
I need an unmodified update.zip. It can be from any model except the H910, H915 or LS997 since they do encrypted OTA.
If you happen to have frozen the FOTA processes, would you mind unfreezing them, taking the OTA, but DON'T reboot. Copy the update.zip from your cache folder.
You need to be rooted to do this. If you do let your phone reboot by chance, the update will not be applied, you will just be stuck in a bootloop which I can help you fix.

Hey Brian
I think I have what you need right here.
I remembered someone posting a direct link to a ota-zip, it still works :good:
* At the very beginning, I'd like to tell that I only have H815TR model. I don't know if there is any other variant(s) of G4 which supports VoLTE. If your device supports it, and VoLTE is missing for you too, after taking full backup, you may try as well but use the cust file from your backup you took before UsU'ing your device. I can say there is no risk(s) for like losing your imei, or hard brick etc.
This guide is only for Nougat stock/stock based(do not try on stock based roms until I update the thread. Someone reported something goes wrong w/ stock based roms) rom(s) and H815TR model. Why it is only for TR variant is that I do only have cust partition from TR model. Also, why this is for stock rom is that I've just found out a way to make them working and haven't tested with any other rom(s). As soon as I test, I'll add information about them and let you know.
Basically, here we do have 2 choices:
The first option
Use stock boot image with stock Nougat modem and the latest Lollipop baseband.
The second option (which I recommend)
Use stock Nougat modem and baseband with UsU kernel
The first way:
Download
Stock boot image
Stock modem image
Cust image
Latest UsU compatible baseband
Backup your boot image [optional but recommended]
Launch a command promt/powershell/terminal on your PC
Connect your phone to your PC and type following commands
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot stock-nougat-boot-berkantkz.bin
fastboot erase modem
fastboot flash modem stock-nougat-modem-berkantkz.bin
fastboot erase cust
fastboot flash cust cust-berkantkz.bin
Disconnect your device, pull out the battery, and boot into TWRP
Flash "H815_UsU_baseband_flash-in-twrp.zip" and reboot
Skip to common steps
The second way:
Download
Stock modem image
Cust image
Latest UsU compatible boot image
Backup your boot image [optional but recommended]
Launch a command promt/powershell/terminal on your PC
Connect your phone to your PC and type following commands
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot <downloaded-image-name>.img
fastboot erase modem
fastboot flash modem stock-nougat-modem-berkantkz.bin
fastboot erase cust
fastboot flash cust cust-berkantkz.bin
fastboot reboot
In common:
After your device boots up;
Go to mobile networks (hold down the mobile data icon in quick toggles)
Click on "Acces Point Names"
Open the menu and click on "Restore default settings"
Go back and enable VoLTE.
See the attachments for proof that proves it does work with UsU'd G4
Thanks:
@steadfasterX (for his suggestions, helps, and everything! You owe him for having an unlocked G4 w/ everything working!)
All should be fine now. Check both of them. Should you need any help, feel free to ask. I'll try to do my best. Please do not forget to leave me a thanks. That makes me happy :fingers-crossed:
Also, here I must inform you that if you had rooted your device with any root manager such as SuperSU, Magisk etc, you have to flash it again to have root access again. You have to do this since we erase and re-write boot images w/o changes those are required for root manager(s) to work.
Additional about VoWiFi (root required):
As @steadfasterX claimed and confirmed VoWiFi to work, use the commands below to enable it (I've personally tested but didn't work for me. It may depend on the operator and maybe the wifi you connected)
adb shell
su
setprop persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr 1
Thanks for the fixe !
I have the same problem with my LG H815 EUR since i got v29a. No lte+ "4g+" just lte "4g".

Well, before flashing my backup cust partition, i wasn't able to use 4.5g either. After flashing it, 4.5g started to work. Although you currently have the configs, it doesn't work for you. It seems yeah as you said a bit strange. I get 4.5g on both stock M and N.
Can you check if you have a cust.bin inside stock v20i kdz/tot file?

Well, find someone who uses stock and take full backup using SALT. When you see that cust.bin is generated, it's okay to cancel the operation. Grab that cust.bin and flash it to your device using
Code:
fastboot erase cust
fastboot flash cust cust.bin
Then the same thing. Go to APNs and reset to default.

Keep in mind that only the models which have a gpt compatibility for the h815 will work like that. Only those have a cust partition. All others have a carrier partition so you may need to adjust the guide for those accordingly..
As another hint: it is important that the users use their own version of the cust/carrier partition and not yours for the TR. It contains only stuff for your country and carrier!

I use "LG-H815_Official_v29A_keepsTWRP-LAF.zip" and no cust.img inside. Inside the "LG-H81520G-Flashable.COMPLETE.zip" i have the cust.img.

Well, I've downloaded the cust image from here and it seems okay to me.
What can I suggest you to is that if you're saying it was working on V20i Fr, extract cust.bin from that V20i, and flash it using
Code:
fastboot erase cust
fastboot flash cust cust.bin
Check what's inside that cust extracted from v20i. It should be similar to the ones I added as screenshot.
Edit: I downloaded V20i France version to see. It is the same with which I said looks like an apk file. Maybe it's due to the extractor we use. I remember steadfasterX saying that the other kdz extractors don't extract well than SALT's inbuilt extractor.
I'll try to extract with SALT and see again.

I flashed the carrier partition from my Lollipop stock backup before UsU and it didn't work. I then extracted the carrier partition from 2BA MM KDZ for VS986, flashed it, removed VoLTE from my phone package on Verizon.com, added it back on, and it is now working! Not sure which of those steps got it working but I'm extremely happy as it was annoying losing data every time I made a phone call. Thanks!

Hello,
I Just bought from a website a " refurbished " LG V20 and sadly when I turned it on I was shocked it was on att but it's unlocked, but sadly since it's at&t I can't get software updates, is there a way that I can have a stock rom on it instead off at&t? if yes can you guys show me how ?
Note: I have 0 experience and how to do these kind of things but I can follow guide lines.
Search for backup EFS. Do it.
Then feel free to flash the US996 KDZ. Again, if you search, there is plenty of info.

Download patched LG UP
Download US996 10p KDZ
Place your phone into download mode. With the phone off, hold vol up and plug in the USB cable.
In LG UP, use the DUMP option and select modemst1, modemst2, persist, persistent and misc
Then while still in LG UP, use partition DL mode, select the US996 KDZ, select all partitions, and flash.
Enjoy your H910 converted to a US996.
If you have data or voice problems after the conversion, then you will have to root to fix it. You can't root on 10p firmware, so you will have to flash older firmware. Even though you will have flashed the US996 firmware, you can use the H910 root procedure here. Once you are rooted, you can flash a US996 stock ROM via TWRP to return to stock US996 (with or without keeping root -- tis up to you).
Once rooted, you can flash modemst1 and modemst2 (ignore the others, it is just a good idea to have backups of them) that you backed up in step 3.
Boot to flastboot. With the phone off, hold vol down and plug in the USB cable
fastboot flash C:\path\to\modemst1 modemst1
fastboot flash C:\path\to\modmst2 modemst2
Again, those steps will ONLY be required if for some reason you get unlucky and your EFS gets hosed.
@cnjax Hope that is a chick, cause I decided to hold her hand good.....

Thank you, your post is the first one I found that makes it seem fairly simple.
I have 2 V20 h910s I want to unbrand, one running AT&T version 10m and one running 10r (which complicates matters further), and I would like to avoid installing a bootloader/root/etc. which prevents future updates/upgrades to later software versions (so other existing guides have put me off for multiple reasons).
Is what you listed all I need to do (in both cases), or do I need to root (or bootloader unlock etc.) first?
Can I install any future stock US996 ROMs (ie when Oreo is released) once I have done this, or will I have to reverse the steps and start over with h910/ATT software?

I don't want to "try" I just want to know which is a normal stock rom with no bloatware that I can have root on x.x!!
you are making it so difficult on me xD

Hi.
I also have a few questions (as I'm new to this and have found conflicting information, and in addition I have two h910 phones running different firmware versions, one v10m and one v10r).
1) My phone's aren't rooted - Is what Brian explained all I need to do, or does his explanation require a bootloader-unlocked/rooted phone to work?
2) Are there any requirements/restrictions (eg. original firmware must be above/below version XYZ - if yes, does it make any sense to update the firmware to the latest AT&T version first)? Can I install any future versions of US996 KDZ that way too?
Thanks in advance.

1. For 10m one, follow Brian's guide, for v10r, follow Brian's guide. Once you have unlocked bootloader/rooted, you have conceded official updates. Also there are no stock KDZ restoring methods to revert back to H910 but you can try a method to go bone-stock H910 if you're rooted and have TWRP recovery.
2. For H910? no, and no need to upgrade to latest att firmware. You can just jump the gun to US996
Edit: Make sure you take full backup dump with patched LGUP (from Brian's guide as well).
Thanks

Thanks a lot.
Two final questions (sorry to bother you):
1) Do I need to root/bootloader-unlock the device BEFORE proceeding to use Brian's guide, or can I just dump & then flash US996 straight away without rooting? (I read somewhere that root is only required if the signals fail after US996 conversion, but I'd rather ask than to skip root / just flash and then realize I messed up).
2) Will EFS be backed up in the process of dumping everything using patched LGUP, or do I need to back up EFS manually/seperately? If the latter is what I need to do, what is the best method? (I've found multiple, but most of them require root, which I'd rather avoid unless necessary)

1. Make a backup dump and flash US996 rom.
2. I havent known anyone who ran into corrupted EFS after crossflashing between H910/H915/US996. The restoring of modemst1,modemst2,modem, misc solves the problem of No baseband/IMEI. Do that at your own risk, there is no guarantee that you'll be safe from apocalypse

You do not have to root, just follow my post for flashing the US996 KDZ.
You only have to root IF you have signal issues, because that is the only way to fix them. Even then, you don't have to stay rooted.
I doubt you will have signal issues, but make sure you backup those partitions before you flash the US996 KDZ.

Hi.
I'm having trouble with LGUP. When I try to dump all phone files, it gives me an error 0x2000 saying "not enough hard disk space", even though there should be more than enough.
Device Manager recognizes the device under Ports as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM8).
Help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I managed to dump the files you recommended, but what about the rest? shouldn't I back those up too?

UPDATE: I flashed the first device, but it asked for a password that wasn't set up. UPDATE 2: solved w/ factory reset.
Thanks a lot and sorry for bothering you guys.
Glad you were able to do it.
As far as backing the other files up -- no, you can get those from a KDZ, so no reason to back them up. The partitions I had you backup are specific to your phone(s).

Now flashed both devices, but noticed that the signals are unstable. Network jumps randomly from no network to 4G and back to no network etc - not in high frequency, but often enough for me to have noticed.
Does that mean I now have to go the route of rooting or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks and sorry to bother you once more.
PS: just noticed it seems to run stable with only 3G enabled, but once 4G is enabled the problem starts.
