I've seen a thread about it before but I can't seem to find it anymore. But yea I'm rooted on DP1 with the pixel features flashed over. Had the ota notification for about a week or two now but didmt flash because I'm rooted and domt wanna have to unroot or factory reset. Is there a way to without factory resetting? I also have FlashFire, as the thread said to just can't find it.
Download latest 7.1.1 released today and flash with FlashFire deselecting data partition

I managed to upgrade my Nexus 7 2013 LTE from KitKat to Marshmallow using factory images yesterday and took some notes. All apps and settings kept (or at least I haven't noticed any issues other than no Xposed) and rooted. I figured someone might find this useful.
So, short version: upgrading directly from 4.4.4 to 6.0 with factory images didn't work without wiping data and where's the fun in that? So I took a longer route and went 4.4.4->5.02->5.1.1->6.0.0. It's possible I could've gone from 5.0.2 to 6.0 or 4.4.4 to 5.1.1 directly but I'm not going to try and see if that's the case. Enjoying Marshmallow now.
Basically, I did the same thing for all three update steps:
Unpacked factory image, rebooted to bootloader, flashed bootloader, radio, system.img, boot.img, cache.img. I rebooted to bootloader after flashing bootloader and again after flashing radio, same thing the flashall.bat does. Don't know if it matters.
Booted to TWRP recovery, flashed supersu zip and renamed /system/recovery-from-boot.p to keep TWRP.
Booted system and grew some gray hairs while the boot animation went on and on until it finally got to the long "optimizing apps" phase.
For 6.0 I flashed a modified kernel and supersu beta 2.52.
So, enjoying Marshmallow now. No issues so far. Root cloak detectors seem to be becoming a plague and I've only used an Xposed module for that.
Newbie here. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm currently sitting on the 7.1.1 beta, rooted, with TWRP installed, and I'm wondering what the best way to downgrade back to 7.0 is. I understand that I won't keep my root, and will most likely have to wipe all my data, but that's not a problem for me, as everything is backed up and I can easily root again. Is the best way to just opt out of the beta, or will I need to manually flash back to 7.0?
I would flash back to stock seeing as how you are rooted/TWRP. You will also need to opt out of the beta program or you will continue to get notifications to update to 7.1.1
I tried to install the OTA Oreo update and of-course TWRP blocked it, I just rebooted back to system, phone is usable as before.
So is the only way to get the OTA to install to un-root and go back to stock recovery? Would I need to format partitions/lose data during the process? And would I then be able to re-root and TWRP or they are not available for the Oreo yet?
Tried to search for answers, apologize if I missed them.
Thanks
You have TWRP, just flash the V20a zip that's been out for weeks.

How in the world did you miss those countless threads and posts about Oreo update. You can install TWRP on Oreo, root is working as well but you won't be able to mount /data partition in TWRP after first reboot.

Saw many posts about the update but didn't find one related to installing an OTA update on a rooted phone with recovery. I could use the link of such a thread if you have it.

You can install this but factory reset is recommended.
Hi all, my phone is still on Nougat with SuperSU (I know, I know) and I want to upgrade to Oreo and also do a clean re-root with Magisk. Can I simply backup what I need, factory reset, take OTA update, and root? Will having TWRP, SuperSU, and the bootloader unlocked have any issues with a factory reset? Thanks.

An unlocked bootloader is no problem for taking OTA, TWRP and SuperSU are definitely.
You've got two ways to upgrade to Oreo:
- Fastboot flash the nougat firmware you're on and apply the OTA updates until you are on Oreo.
- Fastboot flash latest Oreo firmware for your region.
In both cases you will lose your data so back it up before.
After that you have to flash twrp again, decrypt your data partition if you wish to and reroot the phone, I recommend magisk 18.
Thank you, that's very helpful! Literally for no reason other than downloading podcasts my phone rebooted and is now bootlooping, so good timing to get a clean slate going!
Hi! I wanted to switch from Pixel Experience back to stock, I flashed V10.0.11.0 using the official fastboot image (I used flash_all.bat). However, when I try to install the August update using OTA, it always fails for no reason. I had TWRP and Magisk installed with Pixel Experience, but reflashing everything should have deleted those. Also, I didn't flash Magisk or TWRP. I didn't even boot temporary TWRP - everything should be completely stock, but the OTA still fails. What am I doing wrong?
Edit: Curiously, Google Play shows that my device is not certified. How the hell is my phone still not considered stock? I tried reflashing multiple times, and even locking the bootloader, but the OTA still fails, and the phone is still not certified!
