S5 SM-G901F Power Button Not Always Working - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This issue is doing my head in. The power button seems to work intermittently. I've just reflashed back to stock and it's still playing up.. I've tried flicking the back of the power button and the postage label thing. It doesn't seem to be hardware related.
Is the kernel bugged? Is the kernel changed when you reflash a new ROM? Or is my kernel still stock? Where can I get a new kernel if it's bugged?
Cheers

LG P700 slimkat 4.4.2 screen problem

I've been using this rom since beta 1.9 and once in a while I had this problem. After the screen is going off (either locking or screen timeout) i cant wake up the phone with power button or home button. It seems like the backlight works but I dont see anythig and the only way to fix it is to keep the power button for about 5 sec so the phone reboots.Since I flashed RC1 and now RC2 (tried both dirty and clean flash) this problem happens more often..anyone else has the same bug? Any help how to fix it?

[Q] (SOLVED) Home and notification panel not working

I tried installing this mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789666&page=97
But my phone got a bootloop, so i flashed the stock firmware 4.4.2 Gt-i9505 via odin and it worked..sort of.
Now the home button, notification center, the settings icon in the pulldown menu, the button next to it,my lockscreen and long pressing the wifi to the multiwindow button doesn't work. Power menu only contains reboot and power off, used to have airplane mode and volume buttons.
Menu, back, volume keys and power button are working. And home button wakes the screen if its of.
Please help :crying::crying::crying:
PS I don't like to do a full wipe
Also tried replacing framework-res.apk with another one, another bootloop, so reflashed the same rom again.
Do a full wipe
There is nothing like I dont want to

Remapping MENU and RETURN touch buttons

Hi,
My L720-S4 is experiencing a failure of the touch buttons (menu and return buttons next to the home button). I've researched and tried various programs, such as Virtual Button Bar and Button Savior. With these programs, the return function works well but the MENU button does not work.
I've done Xposed but that didn't have the options for the MENU button that I could find.
So after further research, I rooted the device to edit the /SYSTEM/USR/KEYLAYOUT/GENERIC.KL file to change the volume down button (114) to MENU. Unfortunately this also does not work.
Can I get some advice or suggestion as how I may go about reprogramming on of the keys to act as the MENU button ideally or have a menu button GUI overlay like the two software above? Device is currently on stock ROM @ 4.4.2.
Many thanks in advance for those that can help save this S4.
Cheers!
The Sprint S4 boot loader comes unlocked, and since youre already rooted, just flash a stock ROM or ODIN back to stock and re-root. All of this assuming you just want the buttons to work like stock.

It's probably me but what you suggest seems to be where I'm at right now. Flashing back to stock then re-rooting is the same as me rooting the stock ROM. If at all possible, I'm trying to map the volume down button with one press to work in place of the defective MENU button and a long hold of the volume down button will lower the volume.
Again, maybe I miss understood your suggestion so my apologies if that's the case and hope you'll explain in more detail.
Cheers!

Screen blank, button working.

After flashing and rebooting kernel 8.1 on my d802 rom with G3CLoudy v2 rom.
my whole scrreen gone blank... the button still functioning since i can hear the sound when i press the volume button.
slution please...
The kernel you flashed was most likely incompatible with the current ROM your running, so go into recovery and restore your system from a backup..

S4 keeps booting into Recovery and won't boot normaly.

So I shut off my phone because of meeting and after when I tried to boot it up again it booted into recovery. I pressed Reboot device but it again booted into recovery. Tried againg - same. I pulled the battery out and back in, powered it on and again recovery. GalaxyS4 Official 5.1.1 ROM. Never installed custom rom or rooted it.
Hardware. The Volume up rocker is stuck. Tqpping the S4 gently against a table may fix it until you get the button replaced.
