Apps wont stop Updating Automatically - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

For some reason when I turn on Wifi my Samsung apps will automatically update. I have automatic updates turned off in both the Playstore and Samsung+ settings and yet my phone will still auto update apps. Has anyone else had this problem and able to fix it?

Did you turn it off in Galaxy Apps?

[Q] WIFI timer not working since 4.3 update

When i was using 4.2.2 the wifi timer worked fine, i had it set to come on at a certain time and off, and it worked fine
Since updating to 4.3 i have set the same timer again (as i done a clean install of 4.3) and now every time it gets to the on time, i get a notification saying the wifi timer has started but the wifi it's self doesn't come on, when i look at my short cut tabs at the top the wifi one if off, even after the wifi timer says its started.
is this a known issue?

Hi.
I don't think this a known issue.
I'm using it myself and it works good in 4.2 and 4.3.
Does yr WIFI on yr device working without the timer?
Yes the Wi-Fi is working fine when I put it in myself, the timer just doesn't seem to be working in my phone, when it gets to the on time, I get a notification saying that the timer has come on but when I bring the notification bar down the Wi-Fi isn't turned on.

Strange..
U might want to re-install the firmware again.
Make sure to do clean wipe, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache before reinstalling.
Other that that, some 3rd party apps u had installed might have prevented the WIFI timer to be activated (some apps are poorly made by the developers).
This is all I can I think of.
Hope that this may help u.

thanks for your replies, ive done a bit more testing with it and have found that if i have my phone on when the timer comes on then the wifi does connect, its when the flip case is closed and the phone screen is off it doesnt seem to come on.
also i have also found that everytime the timer comes on i get a security message saying an application attempted to access system on your device, this has been blocked..
the wifi timer is the built in one though and not a 3rd part app, so not sure why thats saying that.

Ok, that is normal when the screen is off, mate..
I read somewhere here that the security message is kinda bug by Samsung...
btw, are u using the original firmware?
If so, u will get that message.
Yes I'm using the original non rooted Rom, when I was 4.2.2 my Wi-Fi would also come on by timer even if the screen was off, that's why I was confused by it not coming on in 4.3
When in 4.2 I was using a rooted version, but decided to go official with 4.3
if i download the original fw and reinstall it with odin, will it wipe my apps / settings or will it keep them the same?

Sync and Push Notification issue

Hi,
I am using a SM-N910C (XSG). Since late I have been facing an issue. The phone is connected on WiFi and left on sleep/idle for around 10 mins, I stop receiving push notifications from my apps including Gmail, Whatsapp, Viber etc.. I wake the phone up and suddenly receive all the notifications at once. This doesnt happen while on mobile data. I dont know whether the problem is with my phone or with the WiFi router. Tried with my friends Nexus 5 and another HTC One E8. But they seem to be working fine. Has anyone faced this issue? Any solution?
i have been having the same issue!! is your phone rooted?

What devices do you guys use and what version of Android does it run????? Could it be a software or device issue???
It sounds like the new google play services acting up. Try removing the update in the application setting.

I had formatted my phone thinking that could help...but no luck....How could play services effect this???
Have exactly the same problem. Not sure why though......
Most of the application push notification rely on Google Cloud Messaging which lies within the Google Play Services
Anyone found a solution? I have un-installed update, downloaded previous version of Google Play Services but still no luck.
OK. The solution is to go to WIFI settings ---> Advanced ---> "Keep Wifi During Sleep" set to "Always"

Has this fixed your issue? But isnt it set to ALWAYS by default? at least mine has been but still no luck.... just can figure out what is causing the problem
Did you try the push notification fix from Google play store? Some network does not maintain a good constant connection with the phone. The apps try to fix by shortening the time between heart beat that the phone send to the server.

Yep tried that as well....But no luck.....I tried something else today.... I connected another WiFi router to the main one and connected to its WiFi.....not facing an issue at that time..... I dont know what to point at, my phone or the router.....
hello from egypt i have just discovered the solution of the problem because i had it too so sure you should keep the auto aync is on and the mobile data is not restricted and the previous two settings not the real problem the problem is in the power saving mode the is an option at the end of power saving settings that will reduce the power by never showing the notifications untill you open the apps so turn it off......
Is IPv6 enabled on your network? Samsung has an IPv6 issue, partly resolved in 6.0.1, causing issues for some apps using push. Pre 6, Samsung used to ignore ICMPv6 during sleep, causing the default router to time out after 200 seconds with the screen off.

BT keeps turning off

For the past few days, my BT setting keeps turning itself off every few hours. Once it happens, it then continues to turn itself off immediately each time I re-enable it. After an hour or so, it recovers and lets me turn it back on (until the next time a few hours later).
The phone is completely stock (APK1), never rooted, no 3rd-party power-saving, task-managing, or security apps ever installed, no power-saving modes turned on. It does not help to clear the system cache or the Bluetooth Share cache. Closing all open apps does not help. Rebooting sometimes helps temporarily, sometimes not even temporarily. I haven't seen the problem when I reboot in Safe Mode, so either it's caused by an app (I have hundreds), or else I just didn't leave it in Safe Mode for long enough for the problem to reappear. I have not recently installed any apps or made any settings changes. I've searched online and come across many suggestions but none are applicable and successful here.
Is there a system log somewhere that would tell me what is turning off the BT setting?

Wouldn't that delete all my WiFi passwords? I find several online mentions of people who unsuccessfully tried Reset Networks to solve BT problems, and no mentions of it being successful.

Try one more thing : Settings-> Applications-> in right top corner you have 3 dots, press and choose Show System Apps
scroll to Bluetooth share , click on it then click on Storage and Clear Data. go back and do same with Bluetooth Test.
Thanks, but that didn't help either. I found the culprit, though: the Walgreens app. When I force-stop it and then turn on BT, BT stays on. As soon as I start the app again, BT turns off. And I now see many other user reports of this problem, going back a couple of months.
It's annoying that without the user's knowledge or consent, Android gives an app unnecessary permission to turn BT off. What's worse is that there's no easy way to identify who turned it off.

There is an app in the store called App Brain Ad Detector.
After you install it you can scan all your installed apps and it will break down all permissions given to each app, show which ad network, etc. It is very useful!
Also after it is installed when you install a new app it will report if it does things not normal.. IE it would probably have caught that BT permission!

Always showing "Samsung Connect is running"

Hi ,
I have been getting this "Samsung Connect is running" very frequently on notification panel.
Event I force stop samsung connect then also it shows up.
This was after the update which was around 750Mb. Anyone elsr facing this issue ?
Please let me know how to fix this as its very annoying
Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings
Turn "Nearby device scanning" Off
It's already off. Still showing the notification.
I am also having the same problem after the update.
i am doing a factory reset to check if the problem still exits
me also faced this issue after the update. So I uninstalled that update and came back to previous version then the issue solved. May be in next update samsung will solve this issue.
New update on Galaxy Apps store (and PlayStore) fixes this issue.
Just stop the notification for the this app from Settings==>Notifications.
Samsung connect, samsung reminder deleted here

Accessibility services turn off after restart

I've not noticed this before and not sure if it's a glitch in the Oreo beta, however everytime I restart my device (which has been a few times today with beta 2) my accessibility services are turned off, so BxActions stops working until I re-enable it in the settings, the same with Navbar apps.
Can anyone else confirm this?
Thanks,
YES! Same issue. However, I've had this issue dating back to my Galaxy Tab S on 6.0.1
I've just come to live with the fact that apps like Last Pass will never work properly unless I regularly (manually) provide them with accessibility access.
