I've already asked this in q&a thread but thought it would provide better visibility / answer here. (Let me know if it feels like a spam, I'll either remove question from q&a thread or from here)
I want to know if project fi is like any other Sim card, plugin and use.
Or does it depend on ROM, gapps etc. Can I use fi on unlocked boot loader, rooted and no gapps phone?

Yes fi sim card is plug and play. I just came from at&t. Ported the number, plugged in the card and we were off. As far as what it works on, use fi compatible Roms (they say in the description) or any stock rom. I'm currently on 7.1.1 stock rooted (thus bootloader unlocked) and I have no issues at all.

Thanks, ROM requirement is really sad. I keep flashing a lot of ROMs.
Is it definitive that fi won't work with other ROMs ? I may try to get a Sim for a month and try few ROMs (if it's not definitive)

It works with most of them it seems. I think more do support it than don't. And I honestly don't know what happens with the ones that don't lol. Never tried it. Buy I've had Zero issues so far and loving it.

I have a Galaxy S5, SC-04F, issued by DoCoMo in Japan. I saw this video where a guy had installed 5.1.1 Blisspop on the exact same device that I have (video in Japanese), and thought that would be a good idea, because my previous 5.0 ROM was having issues.
It seemed the only place to get the ROM for my device was from this Vietnamese developer. There was enough English in the Vietnamese text for me to get the right ROM, so I installed it, and overall the performance is a lot smoother and nicer than what I had before.
However, I am experiencing two issues. One is that the Bluetooth connectivity is weak. My bluetooth headphones constantly flutter as if the connection is weak. Listening to music is impossible. Also, there is nothing in the interface about the fingerprint scanner, so I'm guessing this ROM just doesn't support it...?
Is there a better ROM for my device? By "Better" I just mean that everything about Blisspop is fine, I just want to also have good Bluetooth and fingerprint scanner support.
Thanks for any help.
wrong section to post this mate, this belongs to the Q&A Section,
to answer your question, simply check out the many Stock TW LP Based Roms Pick one by yourself and try them out They have bluetooth working like you want it to and they have fingerscanner. good luck

Thanks for this response. You're speaking at a level of understanding above mine, though. I tried searching for "Stock TW LP Based Roms," but I can't triangulate on any that are compatible with my device. Also, I can't figure out what TW and LP stand for.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but finding Roms, whether through Google or on this forum, doesn't seem to be as easy as typing in the specifications of my phone and the type of Rom I'm looking for (eg, SC-04f, Android 5.1.1, custom Rom).
Is there a way I can search for or access a list of Roms specifically for my device?
Sorry for the questions, but this kind of stuff is tricky for the non-initiated.

Thank you for this suggestion. Unfortunately, It appears that this rom is not available for my SC-04F model.
Martin, you're not happy with Space-X? Or are you just looking to see what else is out there?
BTW, where in Tokyo are you? I live near Ueno.
Cheers,
Pete

Sorry, I didn't see your post until just now.
I'm just trying to get a ROM that's stable and without bloatware. The SpaceX Rom didn't seem to be available for my device, the Docomo SC-04F. If you can link to a specific ROM that you'd recommend, I'd be down to try it.
I'm currently running Blisspop, but after months of working well, I'm suddenly getting a lot of crashing and bluetooth problems, so I'm in the market to try something else.

I'm close to Shibuya.
martin_tokyo ,
which version of Bliss pop are you using ?
can you please share the web address ?
I too have a SC-04f , provided by DoCoMo, which I am currently using in Bangladesh.
I think it would be great to have a daily driver ROM, with all the mods you want. Then be able to quickly reboot to a stock ROM and use Android pay. I know there are odd hacks developers can do to dual boot, and even put an entire ROM in a sort of simlink. It was done on the galaxy s 3 before we had a "African sock puppet" leak us a bootloader unlock. They used a kexec hardboot. I'm not sure if a developer would need to go that far to get Android pay working on a second installation.
So is this feasible?
Is it something that would interest the people in this community?
Check out the dev section

Completely missed that post. Thanks
While I know it's a Galaxy S4 Thread, the Dev has improved his app so that it can be used with the Moto X Pure, Moto X, and Moto G. I'm currently running Stock 6.0 in Primary boot with Exodus ROM and Ressurection Remix in data slots. There is still an issue with booting from your external SD, but it's something he is working on.

Hello peoples!
First, allow me to kick myself for buying a Chinese phone. OUCH. There, moving on.
I have the Note 4 model SM-N9108V, Android v5.1.1, and it's been a complete nightmare to deal with it. (IT DOES NOT HAVE GOOGLE PLAY!) It seems this is the least common model out there on the internet. I have been able to find guides for all versions of the Note4, but for my version is very difficult.
After some brick scares, I was finally able to root my phone, install ClockworkMod Recovery and Open GApps. While it's "usable" now, some things still don't work. For example, The automatic Google Sync just does not work for some reason. I have to go on Settings and automatically click on everything to sync (calendar, contacts, etc).
So, I'm guessing my only option is to flash a custom ROM. But I can't find ROMs specifically for this device....
What are my options here? Can I install CyanogenMod made for the international version? Is there a Android 5/6 Stock ROM out there in the wild that I'm not aware of?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
TL ; DR Which custom ROMs are there for the SM-N9108V? Is there a Android 5/6 Stock ROM available? Can I install the CyanogenMod for another Note4 version?

Hello.
Allow me also to kick myself since i bought also this stupid version of Note 4. And imagine i exchange it with a S5. What a deal!
Anyway, there is a very nice MIUI ROM (xiaomi style) for this phone, see my post here where i collected all the posts explaining how to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66904680&postcount=2
Also you can root it and install also google play and everything is working fine.
Except the 3G and 4G! in my case they are not working well, i have drop calls, no data connection etc..
Can you tell me, do you operate the phone outside China? is it working ok on 3G?

Chinese galaxy note 4 gapps that work!!
Hi. It's been.a while since I've seen this post, looking for a solution for this phone. I finally got it working properly with all the Google apps.
After installing TWERP, I have tried many different gapps packages but always had the same result. Google apps crashing over and over again. I have finally found the right one and made my phone fully functional.
baNkS’s Dynamic*Gapps for Marshmallow*(279 MB)
This being my first ever post on this forum, I am bot allowed to post any outside links. But you should be able to Google it.
In the description, it says that the built-in script detects the chipset and installs the correct set.
Upon installation and restart, the Google services still crashed every couple of seconds but I was able to sign into my Google account. And, after an update, everything was fine.
I hope you find this useful, since it's an old post
First of all sorry for my english, and sorry if somebody already created a topic about this, but i cant find a solution.
Im currently running CM12.1 on my GS3 Neo (i9300i) and im experiencing battery drain.Every rom i installed had this issue (CM12,CM12.1 and ResurrectionRemix 5.5.9),i lose about 1% every 1~2 minutes and when charging sometimes it gets stuck at 70% and above, taking forever to charge, but if i remove the battery and put it back on it shows 100%.In stock rom i dont have those issues,is there anything i can do to fix it or is it normal?
Same problem (GT-I9301I) + Low voice while talking in phone with someone.
What version of rom you flashed? I read somewhere that NFC unnecessary files are draining battery, but that was fixed a long time ago with new builds.
cm-12.1-20151225, the latest version of CM12.1 for GS3 Neo,from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-s3-neo-t3099384
Also experiencing the low audio while audio recording or Facebook Messenger call, etc
That is not a last build, actually it's very old one.
Try out with last official one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-neo/orig-development/kernel-n1kernel-t3208957
Battery life is not stellar but it's far from bad. Without playing games SOT is around 4.5h+. It changes properly but it's a bit slower than stock in it. It's certainly good enough for day to day usage. Result is with some streaming, lots of browsing, some downloads & cetera. It's a combination of WiFi and cellular usage but still mostly cellular (as it whose on a busy work day for me). So it should fairly represent typical usage scenario.
I was using the latest unofficial version because i didnt know that the official was compatible with my version of the GS3 Neo (i9300i)
I will try flashing the official rom and gonna test it

It's a same rom (CM12.1) only build from newer sources along with polished kernel so the same patch for dual sim will work the same as on unofficial. On the CM 12.1 their is no difference between official & unofficial regarding a dual sim variant. Difference will be in the future releases with different, newer Android version's because dual sim variant then really won't be supported. Reason? Nikola doesn't have a GT-i9300i to do a testing & 3rd part tests simply don't qualify as desired quality ones. Hope this explains clearly enough the state how "GT-i9300i dual sim variant is not officially supported" & what that means in presence & in the future if situation doesn't change (eke he gets one as a present or rises enough fonds from donations to buy one).

I flashed a nightly because on the download page it doesnt show any stable versions. I could not connect to wifi,i dont know if i flashed it wrong or the rom have a problem
It's just you so it's not rom problem. By the way CM12.1 is for the long time in stable, you just use nightly code when compiling it so that you can use very last one.
I dont know if its just my problem,i saw somewhere someone complaining about the wi-fi issue. Also, when i flashed the unofficial rom it had this issue,i could connect to wi-fi normally but sometimes it did not load any page, but turning the wi-fi on and off sometimes fixed it.
I will search more about those issues and try flashing the rom again to see if i can fix it.
I see there are dozens of obscure looking roms under the ROM section, that's okay this is an ancient device. It's no s5.
Since I am very very new to this community I am wondering, which of these is the most stable, well developed and preferably privacy respecting? the idea was going to be roll no gapps and install microg.
Was hoping to have root too, but I can live without it, as long as myphone is not selling my bussy to data brokers every 30 minutes.

it all depends what bootloader version you are on. All roms posted were for Rev4 version bootloaders. There is no installing AOSP roms on these devices so no micro no not having google apps sorry. Root can be obtained Rev 1-10 or Rev 1- A, Limited root can be obtained on Rev11/B bootloader
