There is a new update coming our way.

Yeah more B.S. I can't believe this isn't 5.1 this is beyond ridiculous its laughable at this point. At least I'm unlocked and running cm 12.1

Probably locking down potential exploits.

Hopefully fixing Bluetooth and reception. Both got a lot worse since they started messing with HD voice.

Are they fixing KingRoot and CrashXL's root methods? Even if it was 5.0 though, I wouldn't want to lose root for it after waiting a year or so for it. I hate Verizon...
It's a minor update to fix a rare issue for people making emergency calls on an encrypted phone on boot up. The phone would deliver audio in only one direction, so when you made the emergency call the dispatcher can not hear you.
There was a story about this a few weeks ago, that there was an update coming to the Ultra/Maxx, Turbo, and 2013 X on Verizon, but it isn't Lollipop.
See https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/105254
I suppose it's possible that they included other patches, but I am betting it's just this.
[edit] I first saw this a few weeks ago on Droid Life: http://www.droid-life.com/2015/05/0...ntenance-update-coming-to-nexus-6-and-moto-x/
Thanks for the info doogald I won't even bother with this update. I will just wait for 5.1 not worth going back to stock to take the update.

Just installed the update. I have no idea what it changed.
It may patch the 2 root methods we have.
I used KingRoot to root & put a corrupt version in cache. Lol.
What else could I do with 1hr root?
I have unlocked boot loader and on 4.4.
Do any of these updates lock the boot loader again?

While it is possible, it has never been reported to have happened.
Just installed this update. It did not re-lock the bootloader and I didnt lose root.

Thank you for the update; this community is awesome!
Ok said I wasn't going to update and I did I just can't help myself. I hope we get 5.1 soon the moto x is soak testing in a few days so we should be right around the corner. What I can't believe is my wife's turbo still doesn't have 5.1

Took the OTA update.
Kept Unlocked Bootloader.
SuperUser Root Survival checkecked = Kept Root
Didn't even re-enable bloatware (I always disable all apps/bloatware possible, I do not ever delete them): Took OTA with no problem.
Entitlement Bypass v1.2 Still works.
Definitely noticed one annoying bug that was fixed so far:
After exiting out of Google Play, and collapsing the Google Play app from the Recent Apps list, the Google Play icon would previously re-appear in my notification bar (I believe when left in the notification bar, it was draining more battery, I used to have to Clear data/cache on the Google play App, and then collapsing from the Recent Apps list, in order to avoid it from turning back on. Now, no need for all that. It does not show up in my notification bar any more.
I will update this post if I notice a couple of other bugs that may have been addressed.
Request
Anyone with an unlocked bootloader, willing to test if this OTA patches one of our existing root exploit?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...4-4-su-6-7-t3117552/post60947050#post60947050
Use SuperSu to unroot.
Test out the KingRoot method.
Taking the the ota will unroot as reboot/ota occurs
Try to root with KingRoot.
So, I took four updates since this morning. Bootloader was already unlocked via SunShine and I had root.
I was on 4.4 (19.xxx).
Took the first OTA - moved to 4.4.4 (21.xx). Verified bootloader was unlocked and I was still rooted
Took the second OTA - moved to 23.xx. Verified bootloader was unlocked and I was still rooted
Took the third OTA - moved to 24.xx. Verified bootloader was unlocked and I was still rooted
Took the fourth OTA - moved to 24.13.2. Verified bootloader was unlocked and I was still rooted
So, this dispels the myth that Motorola/ Verizon re-locks the bootloader due to OTA.
I have observed that the battery temperature of the phone has gone up after the updates. Higher battery temperatures mean poor performance.
Earlier the max I had seen was 44. Now, I see 46 as well. The only change is I have switched from a GSM network to CDMA. Maybe CDMA takes up more power and somehow this is heating up the battery.
All temperatures are during charging.
Id agree the mini and ultra will probably never get 5.0. Glad this isnt my personal device, verizon sucks hard.
I've heard Motorola is giving 222.14.x update to what seems like International Moto X. Hopefully, I can get a guy from there to gimme what I need. x)

I read somewhere that Brazil Moto X 2013 got a Lollipop soak test a few weeks ago
I've captured the 5.1 OTA for my Moto X 2014 Pure Edition (1095) incase anybody needs it
Here's the file, if somebody could mirror it so I don't have to keep it on my Google Drive that'd rock!
I have a question if you can help. I got the OTA update downloaded to my phone which I wasn't trying to download. Now not only is it taking up space, but it shows in my notification draw ready to install. I wan't to remove it so I don't accidentally trigger it.
Do you know where its located so I can delete it?

Hi everyone,
Is there anything we can do against the stagefright exploit on a stock moto G?
Using Google Messenger app for texting/MMS, not rooted, not blunlocked, full 5.1 Stock.
(Any solution OTHER than flashing CM12.1 would be appreciated )
Edit: Has Motorola said anything about it?

Disable auto-retrieve option for mms messages if there is any in your SMS/MMS app, use firefox (latest build 38), don't download any media files like mp4, etc. and wait for a patch/update.
And to answer your second question, yes they did. For more info and concerns look here:

I'm using Textra as my default SMS app and they have provided an update that fixes the bug from the app side.
OK say the official Motorola response is:
"All of our newly launched products (Moto X Style, Moto X Play, and Moto G 3rd Gen) will have the patch integrated in the software. We'll include it in the remaining planned Lollipop upgrades as soon as possible. We’re working with our partners to update phones that have already received the Lollipop upgrade.*We are still working through the feasibility to support older devices that are not getting Lollipop"
Am I correct in thinking we are in the 3rd group? The ones that have Lollipop? Therefore a true patch is coming?

Guys, install AOSP ROM from alberto, or other 5.1.1_r9 ROM'S
Here you can test if your ROM is safe: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zimperium.stagefrightdetector
How many of you have gotten the upgrade?
The Motorola website says that it will be released "pending partner support" but there have been reports of the update rolling out since July
I gave up waiting and put on CM12.1 but now that Xposed with GravityBox is working really well on my Moto X 2014, I want to go back to stock on my 2013.
I got it a few weeks ago but I signed up for soak tests with Motorola

You can't. You bought the wrong Kinzie. Sibling Moto X Force has bootloader unlock and root. Droid Turbo 2 does not.
