Samsung Galaxy S2 India Edition [DOES NOT HAVE] NFC!

Just thought of updating you guys!
Here is the spec sheet for Galaxy S II india version : http://twitpic.com/52888s
As per that, we've got NFC!!
[AFTER RELEASE UPDATE]
Now that everyone got the SGS2 in their hands, NFC - as promised by Samsung during the official launch event - IS MISSING.
For now, NFC is only available on their Korean models.
Lol so back to the original topic...
That's great but it sucks that India get it and the UK still don't.
Don't mean to be offensive but how will NFC be any use in India, wouldn't it just be a gimmick in your case.
Price starting from Rs. 35,000 for Locked 16GB iPhone 4 and 41,000 for 16GB Factory Unlocked in India and samsung galaxys II will be hitting the markets next month and is priced at Rs 32,890 for the 16 GB version. It's cheaper than Iphone although sgs II beats Iphone in every way , it will also have NFC

I made this thread to discuss about the NFC part. It is interesting because India and Korea are the only countries to get it. My idea of creating this thread is to get a global opinion about this move by samsung.
The thread you mentioned, has been hijacked for the purpose of discussing India release by a few people (including me!. I made that first post there telling the presence of NFC).
Let me repeat, this thread is to discuss exclusively about the NFC inclusion; not the coupon code, group buying with your friends or India launch.
Relax!.
huh!.. as per this http://www.samsung.com/in/galaxys2/ , there is NO NFC!. hmm.
This should have been easily fixed if the Invitees to that event - did a proper inspection of the Phone. There will be a Tag app to test NFC - if is there. They could also check by removing the backplate to see if the NFC antenna and controllers are visible.
So bad, no one checked this to confirm.
Does it explicitly mention that there's no NFC in that page? Or has it just been omitted?
Samsung confirmed its presence during the event today and the official spec sheet given to the media includes it.
Even the Samsung Mobiles India twitter account(which has gained a bit more credibility after today's events) has been saying it'll be present all along.
One of the blogs covering it initially posted that NFC won't be included only to correct it a bit later as well.
NFC? Is it reallllly necessary?
Hmmm, anyway I don't see the use of NFC hardware for Indian customers! It's like getting a LTE capable phone to work with India's 2G network which is now only getting used to 3G speeds!
FYI ....
http://www.nearfieldcommunicationsw...i-searches-for-a-business-model-in-bangalore/
It has already begun ..... What world do u live in buddy ??
Although it may available in certain parts in India. I guess it'll take some time before it becomes widsespread. So Samsung might be following the same pattern as in UK. Release non-NFC first then the NFC version. That way they can still get the same price for the non-NFC version as there are people who arent bothered about the NFC.
But with that said, India might also be getting the 2nd production batch, the ones that belong to the same batch of NFC enabled devices headed to the UK.
So does it released in India ?
sorry but the Indian SGS2 DOES not have the NFC chip.confirmed.

Probably because India is rapidly advancing in all areas. They are rapidly growing, in GDP and becoming more modernised. And it's probably easier to put NFC into retail/infrastructure and train people to use it from the beginning. Whereas in the UK, it's more of a pain because the UK has to re-train people to use it and then implement it and hence it'll probably take longer to actually be used in the UK.

3.2 Update in Australia?

Hey guys
I have a SGT 10.1 (3G) model, which was bought through Mobicity in Australia. Now i KNOW they source their stock from overseas, but i just spotted yesterday that the HC 3.2 update was available for download?
Now am i getting that pushed because i'm in Australia? Or is it being pushed to the device because it was bought in a specific country thats getting it? (e.g The UK have been receiving it)?
Am just curious, so i can get an idea of when future PUSH updates might be coming to mine.
Updates are being pushed according to origin of the ROM that is on your device.
If you put a given UK carrier rom, you will get this UK carrier updates, and so on.
Well all i've done is root it, not put any custom ROM's on yet....
So how can i tell the origin of the stock ROM on it?
Well if you bought it from a regular carrier and not something like Ebay, you most likely have an Australian version! (no idea what Mobicity is but every carrier have its own ROMs)
What is your current ROM version anyway?
As long as you are on stock ROM, any update will have to go through your carrier for approval and such. So look on their site / ask them for info.

Mobicity is an importer who deals in phones, tablets and accessories. I got my tab through them before Apple sued Samsung to stop selling them locally (nd then I loaded leaked roms)
If you got it from MobiCity like my self I believe you got an Asian ROM
They source the tablet from Hong Kong
So most likely you didn't get an Australian specific ROM

I agree that you won't have an Australian rom on the tablet but just because you get it from Mobicity means that it's from Asia. They seem to source the products from Europe, Asia and USA (depending on avaiability). My Galaxy S 2 came from Europe somewhere, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 came from America I believe and a HTC Desire S I bought for someone came from Asia.
Got my tab from Vodafone. Its going to be 6 months before it'll get 3.2. why not flash? im sure I'll get ics way before if you're willing to wait.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Yeah i figured Mobicity would be buying from Asia. So can i tell which ROM i'm on from the Build Number? Mine says (with 3.2 installed) HTJ85B P7500XWKL1
Thanks
P7500XWKL1:
XW: Poland ROM, with support for deutch, english, spanish, french, italian, and 2 more languages I dont know about (de,en,es,fr,it,pt,tr)
KL1: Built 1st week (1) of December (L) 2011 (K)
I just got my Tab tonight, so forgive me if I'm not posting this right as I've just downloaded the update and its installing, so I can't see my exact screens. All I did was go to the settings menu and check for updates. I had to sign up for a Samsung account first, but then it went right through. It said it was updating to 3.2. And just an observation, but it looks like it may take a bit of time. Mine has been updating for over 5 minutes now and its only at 39%.
Edit: I'm on a Wifi only Tab BTW...

Galaxy NoteII - México

Hey there im opening this new thread for owners of the new N7100 by Samsung in Mexico, I recently adquired mine and im enjoying it a lot.
lets move to the facts, i orderer it in mercadolibre at the same price listed in expansys. the advantage is that I don't need to wait for shipment an I picked it up by myself in the office of the seller, other nice plus is that the packages comes with the us power adaptor the one with the flat pins so I dont need to use extra adaptors like the european ones that comes with rounded pin conectors or the uk horrible conector.
The device come from fabric with an old compilation marked as UBALI8 without the multiscreen option, so I did a little research and I get form sammobile.com the lastest firmware for latam zone and now everything is working really fine, it was before but the multiscreen was absent. I left u a picture of the room im currently runing and of course works great in any latam country.

What should a guy be looking for in a unit ?

I'm in the market for a android 2 din with front buttons on the left with no dvd. Like this guy here http://www.ebay.ca/itm/232049992513?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Does it make sense to be finding a older MTCB with things like 2gb ram & 32gb rom & then just update it with Lolipop ? Can a 2gb ram 32gb rom be updated to 4gb & 64gb ?
Or would rooting it upgrade this if it comes with 1gb ram & 16gb rom. ?
I think getting a cheaper one with a external wifi adapter 1024*600 & maybe that comes with some freebies like camera & obd2 reader would be ok ?
These are all basically the same for the most part arent they ?
Or should a guy stick with a bigger company like Joying or Pumpkin for the software fixes..?
There are 100's of units that look exactly the same either on amazon or ebay or aliexpress & the prices are way different..
I'm buying it for my son he's turning 17 in a few days & I'm way late on finding the one that has the least problems
Could anyone please lend a hand ?
Peace
P.S it has to be compatible with his iPhone 5s :good:
I guess it all boils down to time and reputation of the vendor. I don't have much time to tinker and get things just right so i looked for a reputable vendor. So i got the joying 5.1.1 unit from the us reseller. He sent it to me turn key.
Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
Does the Bluetooth work as it should..?
All of Joyings products only come with a wifi "wire" poking out the back
I'm looking for one thats got the antenna connected so I can extend it with possibly a better antenna
Bluetooth works just fine. Auto-connecting on the start, copying your phone contacts without problems, works with OBD and Torque. Never tried sending music to it but I'm sure it also works.
WiFi connects to my router that is ~150m away from me trough walls and with 80%+ signal so I think it's pretty nice? (most of wifi antennas I bet are worse than the ones used in the unit.) Why would you want to spend money on another antenna...
PS. What can I say... 1gb ram is not really much, if you're looking for faster respond times since if you open too many apps it gets slower quickly. That's the only thing that I can't get used to... it's all because I'm used to my phone that can handle more than this unit.
PS2. I wish I could try the unit from in-dash.net with 2gb ram and 32gb rom but now it's too late (still developing though).
150m away thats a pretty good signal
Avin is also releasing a 2gb 32gb version with parrot bluetooth but she's gonna be pricey.
What I dont get is how they can root these units & then up the ram and rom to 2gb & 32gb ??
Why wouldnt they just do this from factory to make them faster..
I'm looking at this model http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free..._2&btsid=35d24a46-a493-4fa6-8b3b-d036ad4d9a40
Before I buy is it supported by and of the updates from this forum ?
Can it be rooted..?
Thank You

advice: buy Axon 7 in China to use in UK?

Hi,
I've been tempted by the Axon 7 for some time now having seen it in Beijing, and was excited to see it demoed in the ZTE Demo truck that went to our local shopping centre, presuming that it would be released imminently. Unfortunately, it hasn't appeared and since the mini version *has* appeared (Car Phone Warehouse), I presume it isn't going to be released at all.
So, I have been wondering what my options are. Is it plausible to buy one when I'm next in China and use it easily in the UK? I'm reasonably literate with phones and flashing/etc, so I could perhaps do that too, if it is an option. Does the Axon 7 in China have all the same hardware features as would be expected in the UK? I'm particularly thinking of things like NFC for Android Pay - NFC isn't used much at all in China, so it would be (almost) sensible for them to leave that off phones sold there, but it is something I would want. I would certainly want the Play Store and such like.
I have used a Chinese phone in the UK and successfully installed the Play Store on it (and it had an Intel CPU so it wasn't completely straight forward). It was also a ZTE phone (Geek v975) as it happens.
Any advice on what to do?
Max.
PS. My main reason for the Axon 7 is the front-facing speakers. However, other than not allowing *both* microsd *and* 2nd SIM, it is pretty much spot-on (note that HTC One X9 has a dedicated microsd slot and great front-facing speakers, but I can't find one that isn't locked to CMCC, and it doesn't seem to be so well thought of on this forum, though I see it does have a forum so I'll ask there too).
Axon 7 is a greate deal of hardware.
Of course you can use Chinese version on UK, but you have to flash Global rom and modem.
I myself own a Chinese version, but I flash US rom, because chinese rom is lack of play store and full of crappy app
Hi David
I did exactly what you are thinking about. I'm typing this reply from a 128gb Chinese zte axon 7. I bought from Ali express. When you but from china the seller will root the phone to enable Google play store. That's fine but it screws up obtaining the OTA updates. I can walk you through how to overcome this and get onto 7.1.1. No root nothing like that. My advice it's easy and you can save a packet getting a great phone.
Currently you can pick up an axon 7 for 270. Job done.
I'm running my 128gb Cuba version as well. I have 2 sims and an sd card running on it. There's a few threads on how to go about it. There's not much that needs doing apart from installing Google on the phone. Everything is simple. Just use the search function and you will get everything you want.
