pink line down screen - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

well i woke up the other morning to find a pink line down my screen, the phone had never been dropped it just went over night.
If u tapped the screen where the samsung badge is the pink line would go but soon return.
Anyway i sent my phone back to samsung and today i received it back with a new screen.
what shocked me though was that they did a health check on it and found that the charger cable was faulty, the charger was faulty and the battery was faulty too!! they where replaced also.
The phone is only a few months old and its always been charged with the samsung charger etc so how can they go faulty so quick? or could this be a ploy from the samsung repair place to charge extras?
Im starting to debate whether to get shut of the phone asap if this is how quickly thinks can start to fail, just glad i was still in warranty

Phone is in 4 Service Again

My SGS died in December of the dreaded internal SD card failure. Samsung replaced my phone. Today I brought the phone back to the service center (Luckily I live 10 minutes from there) because the battery wouldn't charge.
I went in and the first thing the receptionist did was say, "Hey, it looks like there is water marks there." I said, "Impossible". She went into the back and had someone look at the phone. She came back and said that there is a bent pin (one of the three battery pins) and it wasn't covered under the warranty.
I said if there is a bent pin it was there when they gave me the new phone back on December 22 (I'm kinda anal with my phone).
She got the manager from the back and we spend the next 10 minutes arguing who's fault it was. As I was about to walk out, he said they do not usually cover this under the warranty, but they will this time only.
When I get the phone back I think I will sell it and get another one.

Why did they change it from the normal i9000? And how did they smeg up internal SD so bad!
Also bent pins are out of warranty.

I don't know you've obviously charged the phone many times since December so the pin wasn't bent when you got it...

Think he is talking about battery connector pins rather then USB port.
And battery will still charge with slightly bent pins as long as they are not removed from the board.
Only time they can get damaged is slamming battery in at funny angles.

It's the three battery pins inside the case, where the battery connects. I am very careful wioth my phone. I was getting erratic charging for the last month or so, but it wasn't that bad, so I left it.
On Friday noght I plugged it in and it took 6 hours to charge, I heard the ding at 5:15am. I unplugged the phone and it went down to 38% in the next 5 minutes. After that it wouldn't charge at all.
As for the pins being bent, how is it possible to do this. The battery only goes in one way, how do you bend a pin?
Anyway, they called me 2 hours later and I just got back from picking up the phone. In and out in less than 3 hoursall together.

They replaced the M/B but it still does not charge. I had it plugged in all night with the phone turned off and this morning the green battery was all lit up so I thought yeah, it works. I turned on the phone and the battery is at 7%. Obviously, it had nothing to do with the bent pin, it's a faulty battery.
With a new M/B comes a new ROM, so it's not the ROM that is causing the problem, but I did a factory reset anyway, no help.
By the way, when I got my new phone in Dec after bringing it in for a dead internal SD card, the date on the back was 10.12, now it's 10.08. How can I get an older M/B? Can it be from a returned phone? I know the phone was not replaced because I have a screen protector (the type that goes on with soap and water) that was still in place when I got the phone back.
Anyay, back to Samsung today.
I went in and they gave me a new battery, so far it's working great. Now I just have to unlock it again.

[Q] Red light of death and it's consequences

The way the story goes:
My girlfriend drops her N4.
The screen breaks and I replace it.
About two weeks pass and she gets the red light of death.
I do some homework, read few threads, watch few videos and try everything I found before I take device apart again.
Try pushing all the buttons I read about, while plugging the charger, while unplugging and standing on one foot and singing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and other voodoo. No success.
Taking the back cover off and unplugging the battery. Connecting it back, closing the N4, try to power it up but no signs of life.
Suddenly I realize the device is very hot. VERY hot. I start taking it apart again, unplug the battery and let it cool. After that I plug the battery back again leave the back cover of, to check if the powering up process made it so hot. Well, no. After about 15 seconds I begin to feel the heat.
I decide to blame the battery from my own N4. I take my own N4 apart, try to get the battery out, but while doing it I damage the battery and it starts smoking. So now my device is officially dead too. My N4 battery goes to the trash and I think "whatever... I'll try her battery on mine.". I plug it in and the N4 stays cold for few minutes, I close the back door and it powers up flawlessly and now runs for few hours.
Since I she bought the N4 in the US she had no warranty here where we live, so that's the reason I changed the screen myself which voids any chances for RMA even if could figure a way to get it back the the US.
Meanwhile I ordered a new battery for myself.
Do you guys think it the logic board that's dead (If so, should I replace it?)? Maybe other part that just does short circuit? Maybe the battery got f***ed during the screen replacement and it just took time to kill the entire phone with overcharge or something? Any other ideas I didn't lay my mind on?
Thanks in advance for your replies!

so judging from your experiences it is not a dead battery that causes the red light of death problem?
i am wondering because i too have red light of death on my 2nd batch nexus 4 (ordered 11/27/12, delivered december 13 2012) and i too took it apart and removed battery for charging, this did nothing but i have a new nexus 4 coming from rma and i would like to swap the batteries and see if that will help because i would like to wipe the phone im sending back but idk if thats possible

I ended up getting a used motherboard from ebay for about 100$ and replacing it. Still works like a charm.
But I can't promise you anything, since it may be any other part that causes a short circuit and burns it. I just took my chance.
For me unfortunately the RMA wasn't an option.

[Q] Phone Won't Charge - Gets Extremely Hot When I Try

So all this happened sometime during the night of 7/1 & morning of 7/2. I noticed when my alarm went off on my phone, my phone was EXTREMELY HOT. Very uncomfortable to the touch. However the battery was at 100%. Not really thinking anything of it, I used it as normal and when bedtime rolled around, I plugged it back in the stock cable & charger. No "beep" indicating it's charging. No change to the battery icon. I started troubleshooting and testing it with different cables/different charger combinations. My phone would not charge at all but everytime I connected a charger to it while it was turned on, it started getting very hot.
I eventually just turned the phone off and attempted to charge it again. When it's off, it won't charge (but won't overheat).
I did notice that when I used another charger (that had an LED indicator of when it was charging), it would completely go off when I plugged my GS4 to it.
I'e never used any other charger with my GS4.
Any ideas WTF is going on?

Can you give us any insight on the phone such as any custom flashes or possible root permissions to apps that might affect the battery?
Most likely than not the battery might be fault, I highly doubt it would be anything else unless it's flashes with a certain kernel or rom that might have a bug or two.

Oh. Sorry about that. This phone is as stock as it gets. Nothing custom about it.
I talked to AT&T Chat this morning and they said they think it's the battery. I've never really heard of a battery preventing a charge problem, but that's what they told me it was.
The crappy part is, they are sending me a battery first (and if that doesn't work), they told me to call them back to have the phone replaced. What's worse is if it isn't a battery problem, I'm out a phone for the entire weekend until Monday or Tuesday.

I think in most cases (i don't know AT&T) they send you a replacement and ask you to ship your phone into the box your new phone came in.
Either way I would think that it is the battery especially with your phone overheating while charging Of courses there are cases where the plug or cord is at fault so you might want to give those options a try as well.

I might want to try that option (get a new phone) despite them sending me a battery first. I'll call them back.
My phone has about 15% left (I turned it off after I realized I couldn't charge it for troubleshooting purposes). I notice now that the phone gets really warm (around the camera flash) when on. This is without it being plugged in and only turned on.
I've tried 2 other chargers (A Griffin and a Belkin that I use for my other phones for work) and none of them charge my GS4. When I plug it into my Motorola Droid Razr (work phone), it charges that just fine. This is really frustrating. Any other weekend would be fine, but it's the freaking 4th of July weekend and I won't have a phone for the entire holiday.
Thanks man, going to call AT&T to see if I can sweet talk the rep to just send me a new phone. The battery is scheduled to come Friday, so maybe they can ship the phone that quickly.

I'm not the biggest tech guy when it comes to phones but I think around the flash area is where the battery connectors are (where they make contact with the phone), so that might result in it getting warm. Although with you not charging it it can still be the battery being faulty.
I would call them back and try to exchange the full phone just to be on the safe side. I still think it is the battery but if your under warranty why let it go to waste?
This happened to me with an HTC Sensation back in 2011. They sent me another battery and it still did this. This could be a common defect among logic boards. Anyway, I get a warranty replacement right away. In your case, it won't matter what rom your using, it will always do this.

Thanks guys. I did what you said on Wednesday and AT&T is sending me another phone. Should arrive sometime today. My phone's been off for 3 days now. But with about 10% charge left, I'm curious about something.
Do you have suggestions on how I can make a backup/copy my settings from my old phone to the new one? Remember, my port isn't working. So not sure if this is even possible.

Best bet would prob be to see if you can get an app quick that backs up everything onto the SD card and swap the SD cards when the phone arrives. Or manually back up what you can to SD (pictures, songs etc) using apps like ES manager etc
PLEASE! Im experiencing same issue with my phone, any solution?
I purchased a defective sgh-i747m (Canadian version of the s4) and, when I connect the phone to as charger, the area where the charging cable connects to the motherboard gets extremely hot. When I try to boot the phone with a good battery, the Samsung logo appears, then the phone turns off. Can't seem to get the phone to charge the battery without getting really hot. Only solution I found was changing the motheboard.
i just got this problem today and a bad time because im leaving in a week, but i decide to leave with out a battery for a couple days see if that does anything

Galaxy S4 wont charge and wont turn on!?

So i went to charge my GS4 last night , when i woke up the phone was off, no sign of life ...
So i did all the normal stuff, take out battery etc, still nothing, just wont even show any sign of life , put it back on charge, came back 30 mins later and it was warm , but still nothing?!
any ideas?
It would be wise to take it to customer center before trying anything else...
I guess its still in warrenty period,
It seems, that u got a faulty device, they might replace it..

God damn.....................
so annoying!
Happened to me last saturday night, i left with 8% of charge then sunday it was completely drained, i dont think it is dead because everytime i pull off the battery and re-insert it, the phone boots up showing the galaxy logo but having no charge it switches off.
Already called the customer service but they're taking too long to start the returning process of the phone having it for only 3 days i think its still in warranty (7 day returning warranty). I'm thinking of bringing it to a repair centre but would costs me about 60euros. Is it worthy to wait? Or bring it at repaircentre?

btw, where can i get a stock ODIN flashable rom for the I9505 , preferably not from hotfile. it takes forever

battery temperature to low

Hi guys
so i smashed my phone the over day the screen cracked. I took it to the phone shop in town for a replacement screen, he fixed that the phone was working fine. later that night i went to charge the phone and it said battery temperature was to low. i took the phone back he said it was because the motherboard was bent and when i look the top part of the phone is bent by about 0.2cm barely noticeable. he said he changed the charge port and it didnt fix it. Do i buy a replacement one and try it myself i did this before to fix charging issues. Or is their another fix. i went into samsung shop and they said to do it they would have to replace my allready fixed screen and stuff to make it legitimate samsung stuff before touching which is just not worth it. i spent 120 pound to get the screen fixed and only way to charge phone is by using a external battery charger to charge battery out of phone.
Bump has anyone had this before.
Well I think there is nothing more you can do. The problem in these cases is that the motherboard, when bent, it cannot be repaired anymore.
I worked for a few years as a service technician in a few Repair Centers and we usually didn't offer any kind of warranty when the phone has suffered extensive physical damage.
In many cases we simply refused to even service the phone because in the time it took to just find the cause of the problem, we could have repaired another phone that had better chances of success.
