Cant adjust window size in multi window on stock Nougat - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I thought that in multiwindow mode you had the ability to resize your windows, but when I try and do it they won't resize. When I try and drag the middle toggle to resize it, it just goes back to a 50/50 ratio.
Is there a setting I need to enable that will allow me to make the two windows any size I want?

not seeing that here.
the adjustment does seem to have been limited though and if you drag the bar all the way to the bottom it snaps out of multi window altogether.
dont recall it working that way in the previews, though I didnt resize much at all on the previews.
seems like now its a range of 50-50 to about 65-35 or so.

I figured it out. It's related to your display size. If you have it set on the default size you have more flexibility to resize the windows, but if you have it set to a larger size, it limits you to 50/50

Icon Position re-sizing?

I know this is not something we can do, but hoping a dev will see this and answer, but now that we can change the size of the screen from 240 to 220 or 180, thats great, but can the preset size of the space it keeps be changed to? For example:
You have 4 icons or more, if you press and hold to move the icons there is a size box in green/yellow border that as you move the icon moves, but now the box is bigger then the icon, if we could make it smaller, then we would be able to put more icons on the screen.
Anyone else feel the same way?

not sure if this is exactly what you want, but launcher pro allows you to change how many icons you can fit horizontally or vertically
also take a look at Multi icon widget:

Actually yes thats what I was talking about, but can it be done without the need of a 3rd party app? And thanks for pointing me to this app.
this mod would be awesome for htc sense. it's one reason why i changed from sense to gingerbread (with go launcher)...

wallpapers...crop boxes in android...ARRGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Just downloaded wallpaper that I would like on my phone, however when I go into gallery I select the "Set as" > "Wallpaper" it gives me a little crop box to crop the image. I move the crop box as far as I can, however the box keeps the aspect ratio. I wish not to keep this ratio and display the whole image as I see it in gallery, not just part of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Any pic I use...it never lets me select the whole image.
see attached pic i did as an example...no matter what i try it wont let me select whole image
? any ideas?
cheers
matt
what size is the pic?
ideally you want it to be 960x800 if not just resize it in photoshop or similar
Like Richy said, you'll have to resize. Due to the way Android scrolls the wallpaper left & right as you switch screens, it keeps the same aspect ratio within the current boundaries of your selected image. If you want that exact wallpaper, you'll have to resize the pic, and end up with that full pic in the middle, with something on either side to make up the difference, like a plain color. Or, try to find that wallpaper already made for Android.
If you upload the original pic, I'll happily fix it for you.

how to change tiles size and metro apps font size?

I have installed w8 cp , it is fantastic , every thing is good and smooth !
But , today I have changed my monitor input from DVI to HDMI when booted the smaller size of tiles get very big and the font inside metro apps get bigger , I know there is 2 sizes for tiles , but I am talking about the smaller one , so how to change tiles size and metro apps font size?
I tried to change system dpi, but got no success.
Looks like the only way is to turn on the "Make everything on your screen bigger" toggle in the "Ease of Access".

[Q] Windows 8.1 Modern UI DPI Scaling

Hello all,
So I bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro and so far I really like it.
I have managed to configure the desktop so it is readable through some scaling and text sizes. However, the Modern UI is still very small and I am actually getting a little bit of a headache due to small text and tiles.
I have tried to figure out how to change the scaling and the text size but the "Change the size of apps, text, and other items on the screen" is greyed out. I guess this is due to the screen resolution of the device.
But there must be another way to configure this. I have seen some registry keys which is assosiated with the Modern UI but all these only seems to work with Windows 8.
Any thoughts?
No input at all? It must be possible in some way

The only thing that really comes to mind is setting the display resolution lower, but of course that will cost you detail and definition on things that ought to be rendered at high DPI (like text and images).

I came across this on Google and just wanted to drop in and +1 this. I have the desktop configured with 150% scaling, but no settings seem to exist to increase the size of everything in the Modern UI. Hopefully someone else will come across this with some kind of solution. Merry Christmas!
I also bought Venue 8 Pro and find this also the only isue. I was googling a lot and it seems Microsoft requires minimum 1440x1080 resolution for 140% scaling in Windows 8. There is no way or hack for now that can go around this isue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh465362.aspx
Even those hacks with register to make Windows 8 think screen is smaller wouldnt work, because the isue here is resolution not screen size that that hack changes!
Damm Microsoft, why allow tablet makers to use 1280x800 on 8" if you dont support it well!
I Will survive for now, i have good eyes and at least Metro IE browser has its own setting for making at least browsing larger.
This should be a high priority isue, Microsoft is going big with 8" tablets and all the cheap ones Will have 1280x800....
P.S.: 8" Windows 8 tablet still ROCKS. But if possible go buy one with higher resolution(doesnt existt for now).
Edit: I just recalculated the scaling. 1080 height would not help at all, because it is exactly 40% more pixels than 768... So i gues only Microsoft can change this for 8" tablets. Either by making everything bigger(Will make it hard for developers) or more easily by scaling text seperatly.
I've managed to somewhat improve it by scaling Segoe UI font. So now most of Windows UI looks ugly, but more readable.
So what I have now is
1) 150% DPI scale for desktop (Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display)
2) 150% scaled Segoe UI font
Sometimes these 150% overlap (giving 225% total)
To try this:
1) copy attached fonts to your fonts directory without installing it (use .bat file attached and run it as administrator)
2) let windows use new files instead of original ones (run fonts150.reg or fonts125.reg for smaller scaling)
3) sign out - sign in
nice hack

WOW nice hack you have here! Didn't know you can change font size via font files. Great work on TrueType files man!
Would it be hard to also make a 125 version(so it doesnt stand out that much over still smaller UI.)? I think i could like this hack enough for everyday use!
P.S.: the small "f" on keyboard is wrong, and for .bat i would add in begining this line, so it works for everyone: "cd /d %~dp0"

Added 125 fonts. Not sure what "cd /d %~dp0" does though, on my computer it just gives "path not found" error
Oh nice, i find the 125% version looking fairly good on my 8" Dell Venue 8 Pro, that is i find it better than default, no matter the smal distortion it causes.
Thanks!
Let us know if you update your fonts file again.
As for your bat file it shows me error "cannot find the file specified" when i run it. But after i add that cd command(without the citation marks) it works fine for me.. That command is supposed to change the dir to "where you are running your .bat file from", works fine for some other .bat files i have..
Burma, Thanks so much for the workaround. Didn't know there is a base UI font and there is mapping between font name and font file. A 25% increase in text size works wonder. I wonder why MS can't get such trivial thing right.
Now if I can find a way to disable the random zoom in/out while scrolling screen in IE!
I got a cheap EC Technology Bluetooth keyboard for $14 from amazon. It works pretty well and avoid having the onscreen taking up a lot of screen real estate.

It works fine but the resulted font look very bad can you make the some fix but with a different font? e.g. Verdana font I think will look better... anyway great idea! and thank you.
Thanks so much Burma for the fix.
I've tried the windows magnifier, and the experience is awful on a tablet (it works great on any laptop)
I also tried reducing the resolution, but the biggest problem with that is the loss of widescreen because all the resolutions below the 1280 x 800 default are 4:3
I'm glad I only paid $250 for this tablet, i'm not enjoying Windows 8.1 on a tablet (like I do on PCs).

so far i love this os these are my thoughts

i worked on an os design back in 2014 so i wanted android on a pc for several years now, phoenix has impressed me quite a lot, here are some minor gripes and issues i ran into
1.i can\t change language input to my keyboard region
2.using a higher dpi makes everything appear jagged and pixelated, not enough to make it terrible but enough to notice setting wallpapers also make most extremely blurry
3.a lot of live wallpapers doesn\t work when i apply them they work then i exit out of the app and it goes back to the default wallpaper i did get one live wallpaper to work though edit i fixed this by letting the apps run in the background i would add some kind of help text on this as i don\t think everyone would figure this oue
4.all the baidu things and chinese apps preloaded i\d personally like if they werent but not a big deal
5.text marking doesn\t work properly like you\d expect all it does is drag the pointer to select text you have to hold on it and then drag the two pointer like on a phone
6.i want an option to disable the keyboard and search and storage devices button and just keep the clock I've disabled everything else i love the addition of a thin home button like on windows
7.i\d like to customize the taskbar and recent apps menu various colors and transparency etc
8.the weird light effect on selected icons could be a line to make it more flat but thats a personal thing
9.i would like to be able to change the start button to any icon from an icon pack
10.i would like to add or remove tiles as well as hiding the brightness and volume slider so an optiont to disable these would be nice
11.i would like various sizes for the startmenu i think it\s too wide i also would like to be able to disable the startmenu sidebar as i don\t need it
12.widget support would be nice
13.colors are very washed out making it appear as if i connected a very old tablet to my monitor they don\t appear crisp as they do on windows
14.resizing windows is extremely laggy
15.the trash icon for clearing notifications would be better as 3 lines stacked ontop of each other minor detail
