Volume annoyances - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd be greatful if someone could suggest an "easy" way to get my GS4 (SGH-M919) running Android 5.0.1 to stop with the constant volume warning nagging me when watching videos at higher volumes through MX Player Pro. For the love of god, I don't want to see that message anymore.
Advice appriciated.

If there is no option in the settings menu, then there's always Xposed.

Is there no way to navigate the OS files myself and just edit/delete the issue?

There should be an option to disable it. Something related to smart volume.
If that doesn't work, the only other solution is Xposed. I've read other threads on this topic and haven't seen any other answers other than Xposed.

1 - have you already tried to reboot the phone? It should reset the camera app.
2 - dunno about dorimanx rom but the default gingerbread music player should have an option to set a mp3 as ringtone if i remember well.

Go to manage applications>camera>clear data, should work although you may have to reset a few settings if you had any (i.e. saturation, contrast, sharpness) but that doesn't take long.

On the market there are loads of apps which can convert MP3s to ringtones, and as the earlier post said in the stock CM7 music player that is also an option (go to the 'Now playing' screen by pressing the box at the bottom with the song in it, then menu>use as ringtone).
Again on the market there are tons of task killers and stuff, or you could use GO Launcher which is IMO the best launcher and comes with a task killer built into the launcher (in the app drawer there is a 'running' apps section which you can use to kill stuff).

Hello I want to know how to remove this sound, I've searched for modded stock apps. Not available for SG5.
I want to delete /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg, but idk if it will **** up the app or not.
I have the SM-G900F.
Thanks for reading

When you put your phone in silent mode it also turns of camera shutter sound. If you are afraid that deleting the sound file might botch up the camera then simply move or rename the file instead of deleting it and reboot.

Why don't you just disable Shutter Sound on the camera app?
Camera > settings > Shutter Sound OFF
easy like that

For some reason I assumed you were on AOSP. Since you're running touch wiz here's the solution: in Q&A or Themes & Apps (shyt or general or android development lol) there's a guide on how to mod your camera app and one of the mods it teaches you to do is enabling the shutter sound menu. So basically browse, search, search and search some more. And then read read read some more

Either root or maybe you can do it with the help of ADB. Really though I can't help you anymore. You'll need to find that guide/how to and ask the author of the mod I'm sure he'll be able to help you out

[Q] Really Annoying Sound in Android Browser and Find on Page Function

I use the find on page function quite often when reading articles on the Internet. For instance, on one search, my search term was found 29 times. Each time in thestock Android browser, I tapped the down arrow to find the next instance of the term, I got a really annoying sound, saying, for instance "3 of 29." Couldn't get rid of this stupid feature by pressing the sound bar on top of my tab. Don't get the sound while in Firefox and using the find function. Only way to get rid of sound is to turn off sounds in accessibility settings, which then means my Youtube sounds are turned off. For some reason the touch function on the down arrow works better in Android browser than Firefox browser otherwise I would just use Firefox.
I am simply amazed that the Tab Browser would have such a goofy function that overrides the sound bar on the outside of the Tab. Am hoping I can turn off the sound without turning off sound I want such as Youtube videos. Any help would be appreciated.

Headphone Fix [5.0]

There is currently an issue on all lollipop ROMs pertaining to headsets that do not have microphones. When such a headphone is plugged in it either triggers a continuous loop of Google search prompts or a multitude of random screen touches. If you use headphones or any 3.5mm compliant headphone jack device, you may want to flash this till it is fixed from source.

IT WORKED!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!!:good::laugh::highfive:
Cheers, also, why didn't you put it in themes & apps?
Noob
Sorry but how is the easiest way to flash this zip.
If I try with the defaut recovery from Cyanogen it gives me the E:No signature E:Verification failed errors.
And this recovery does not have the option to disable this check.
If I install another recovery may I loose the auto update feature from Cyanogen?
Thanks!

Well I thought it being a fix and all, that it wouldn't classify as an app or theme.

You can use ES file explorer or winrar on your desktop to extract the file inside of the zip. After which you can use es file explorer to manually copy paste the file to your system partition and then assign appropriate permissions.

I had the issue where plugging the headphones in launched the google voice search, but with this fix the icons on the homescreen get a white square behind them (guessing it's touchscreen issues). Any work around for this?
This is great, thanks!
However, anyone else now having issues with the YouTube app's play/pause buttons and seekbar not disappearing in fullscreen, or is it just me?

This should not happen, as this fixes both the Google voice issue as well as the white box issue. Are you using a headset with a mic or a standard headphone?

May I have the model of the headphones/3.5 mm compliant device you are using. Have you tried flashings newer version of your ROM and manually pushing the file, as I think the is theost likely issue.

This is re-creatable usually through pausing a video and changing the quality (to 720p or above?) and doesn't seem to happen when not using headphones. Apologies for the lack of specifics, it's a bit finicky. Have since flashed two newer nightlies and still present.
EDIT - this can be temporarily fixable by turning the screen off and on again a few times...

Yeah it can be fixed by turning off the screen but it seems to just show up again when you go to watch another video, anyway I am testing a fix and so far it seems to be OK, I will upload it if everything is good

Ah amazing! Thanks again for your hard work
So, anyone tried this or know if it's even necessary in CM12.1?
I must admit I've flashed this fix on the last few nightlies without checking first if the bug is still present as I've seen nothing about it in the CM changelog.
For anyone who cares, this is still necessary with CM12.1...

No, it's not. I used CM12.1 (RR 5.4.5) and a pair of headphones without a microphone and never had this issue.

It doesn't affect ALL headphones, it never has. Still affects my non-microphone Shures that work on stock, after a full wipe and fresh install of CM12.1.
I'm still unsure if this is necessary, I have still not flashed a stock lollipop ftf and have the need to use this on newer cm based firmware's. I shall flash Lollipop and verify whether it is necessary.

Disable camera shutter sound

Hi, I have rooted my phone and used a File explorer (Root Explorer) and proceeded to rename all the camera related audio files located at /system/media/audio/ui to .old
After a reboot I tried to see if the sound is gone but it is still there.
Following some old guide I found here I tried to find system/csc/feature.xml but it does not exist at all (nor the file nor the folder CSC)
I know a work around is to use a bixby routine to enable DND as long as the camera is open but considering that I am rooted I wanted to find a solution (not a work around)
I tried using Magisk Modules but they don't work either.
I am using Android 10

Hi!
Ummm there's a setting for shutter sounds right within camera settings. See attached photo. Unless yours is different because Exynos. Mine is US Snapdragon on Android 10.

Hi! thank you for replying this thread. I thought it would be obvious but the option is not there for me (I have Exynos)! Not everybody has the option to do it and that is why I rooted my phone, tried a few methods (described in my post) but none of them work... damn shutter sound is still there
I have not found a solution either, right now just using some bixby action to put the phone in silent mode when the camera app is open

I feel like there should be some ADB command to activate the option in camera settings, but not sure what it would be.

Hi....well, it is not necessary to put the whole device into silent mode because of the camera shutter sound .... Bixby Routine does that part great....

I feel the same! the option it is there (hidden) we just gotta figure out how to make it visible. Was hoping somebody here would have the answer.... I guess the big fishes are busy
You could always just turn the system volume sound to 0
You still have notifications, ringtone, media and bixby sounds.

But nobody knows if the option is hidden or removed by default because of the obvious people trying to take inappropriate or illegal photos without consent. Just like recording phone calls, the option isn't available by system only 3rd party apps. Even though in my State its legal to record without consent any phone call in which i am a party to. Under the surveillance and devices act 1999. Yet Google decided to just kill the option globally.
I'm using an app from GG Play store to mute the camera app. It works just fine
